Aye it fun. Yesterday afternoon I was in north HIlls, I think in AG. We had it and for some reason the Vet Archer was shooting to the side. I looked over and couldnt see anything.
Go further along the wall and see a GH invader. For a second I was thinking how should I attack, turns out we were both necros and we both decided to use fear.
Now them using it on me wasnt a big deal, I just ran back long the wall, the GH invader on the otherhand, well he ran back and right off the cliff. Two seconds later I get a loot bag.
Sorry, but I couldnt help it, was too tempting.

Man, I havent been able to play much in the last couple of days, either been too tired or as tonight either there is something wrong with my keyboard or something is making my character get stuck and I cannot move at all! It’s getting pretty annoying that I’ve logged off early again.
Since noone else seemed to be lagging like that I really hope t’s my keyboard, though I didnt have any issues typing this message :/

Are army can move, and moving is a key tactic in wars.
The game has 4 maps, and each one has am asuran portal linking to the others. F we want what OP suggests why bother with 4 maps, why not stick to one larger one then.
Having an enemy zerg attack one BL then move to another without you realising means that there is bad communication between your players, someone on the other border should have told people on the BL you were on that an enemy zerg is now on that BL.
A lot of servers have community VoIPs which benefit the server as communication can be done faster and without moving BL. If your server is small you can setup a free VoIP which has limited numbers, so you can have guild leaders only not everyone.
In fact I am surprised someone from Desolation has posted this! Your server most definitely does not have a low population in WvW, in fact you are in the lead in tier one with a huge 17k lead!
I am astounded by the sheer idiocy of comments made by these “top” tier servers, they want more and more numbers as that’s the only way they play, they want the easy win without putting in much effort.

Some of us are still having some fun in WvW, but it really has been a let down.
Little to no rewards or loot, and huge repair and upgrade costs; it’s a sure way to bankruptcy. If this was a business model investors would be jumping ship with what little left they still had!
Yes there is a patch next month, but it should have been this month! Add the fact that they brought back the culling everyone hated and posted about how bad it was; but they somehow took that as “positive” feedback. So we’re stuck with this culling which makes the gameplay worse for 67% of people.
Bugs and glitches are still there, the few that they have fixed, I’ve heard have reactivated old bugs.
And as for PvE, after getting to the last story mission at Arah, I ended up leveling 5 other level 80s in WvW. I finally decided to complete the story mission on my first character, and what can I say: “Is that it? Well that was kitten” Yes I literally said that re-replacing kitten of course; the final mission was a complete letdown and after seeing that I am glad I leveled those other characters in WvW instead of PvE!

It looks to me that unimportant items are being loaded before players.
In this screenshot you can see the shields around the siege that the breakout commander places. Yet you can see that I am miles away near the sentry between Bay and Garrison.
There was one enemy player in the area, I could see that shield pulsing well before I could even see that single enemy player!
We do not need to see these shield when we are such a long distance from them!
The same does for party members who have been targeted or party chat bubbles. Screenshots are on other pc so will link them later.
Basically I am standing in Bay whilst the rest of my party are in Hills. Yet I can see the target icon even though I am again on the opposite side of them map!
Such things so not need to be shown unless we are actually close to them. Showing them when we are on the opposite side of the map is useless and a waste of processing power which can be used to show the enemy player standing 10 feet in front of you!

Or make it so that if the keep is claimed by a guild, only a member of that guild can order an upgrade. Of course this will then prevent other from upgrading when noone from that guild is online or available.
So I guess the voting system is the more preferred, but then again you can get trolls ordering something useless first rather than something that’s needed.
I think it’s safe to say that we all agree that WvW has not been fully thought through and and “fixes” have made the game worse/removed key features rather than improved it so far.

Seems the entire AG server is lost in the GH border judging by your numbers. The culling made tactics obsolete for the most part. Portal bombed what we thought were 15 guys turned out to be at the very least 30 but more likely 50. Needless to say we wiped…….
You must not know that [KISS], [LoE] and a couple other guilds have and issue against Gunnar’s Hold seeing we used to be on that server. We were all very excited to see we’d be facing GH again.

Almost any arrowcart on top of walls is useless since it easily gets blown up by AoE (assuming that the person manning it doesn’t run after being nuked too), so yes I kinda agree

Anet really have got things upside down in many parts of this game. How can rangers and engineers throw physical things onto the wall to attack players, when Anet removed the ability for mesmers to place illusions on them cos they get “obstructed” all the time?! Only things you can attack are oil and canons.
If rangers and enigneers can, then bring it back for mesmers.

Was fun holding back some FS from brair on GH borderland, withme being from AG.
A real shame that that team had to resort to getting their ranger to glitch their pets onto the wall to attack me whilst I was on an arrow cart; which of course didnt work.
A greater shame that when they came back with more people and using their breakout, the same ranger resorted to glitching his pets again!

It seems clear that guild groups are not always fond of having pugs follow them and ruin their plans. This leads to many guild running without their commander icons on.
People have decided that each party should target their commander instead, but thanks to the culling we are losing track of that as well.
So instead how about adding a Guild Commander rank for WvW which can be bought along side the Commander rank. This way the commander can choose if he wants everyone on the WvW map to see their icon, or only guild or alliance (whenever you bring those back) members can see the icon.

AoE is AoE, limiting it to 5 means it is no longer AoE.
As said, if you are too kitten to notice a red circle on the ground, allies moving out of it whilst you stay in it, red numbers flashing over you, and your health decreasing along with any skill animations that come with the skill; then you deserve to die in that AoE.

Just join the zerg if you are a solo player not in a guild, but if that is the case then join a guild that does WvW.
Being a new WvW I would say follow the zerg.
Manning the walls is a very boring job, and obviously not rewarding.
Gorilla only if you are a thief, like so many who are abusing the culling issue which gives them perma-stealth.
Escorting dolyaks on your own is certain death during primetime, if you are on your own. You want at least 2 more people with you. Thieves love people who solo-escort dollies, easy kills.
So stick with the zerg, learn how people move around, read team chat to find out how what other people are doing elsewhere, and learn from that.

Fact is that we told Anet it was worse back in December, and yet somehow they took that as being positive feedback.
Anet need to find out who was in charge of bringing it back and give them a talking to, the forums were filled with negative feedback so perhaps they would like to show us the piece of positive feedback which seems to have nulified the 67% of negative feedback?!

Whilst some of us are seeing less allies, and a hell of a lot less enemies!
There are times when you are running, your health goes all the way down in seconds, and you are dead before even one enemy appears. Then several seconds later they appear and you actually ran through the enemy zerg! But you didnt even see them.
The culling is worse, we told Anet about it in December, yet they somehow took all those negative feedbacks as positive and brought it back in!
Another thing I noticed today. I could see the shield which encompasses siege during and enemy breakout event at briar; but I was all the way at up between Arah and the sentry below near SW garrison!!!!
So seeing a shield on the other side of the map is more important than an seeing an enemy 5 feet in front of you! Screenshot attached.

Indeed, next week is gonna be a bloodbath for some servers.
Ruins of Surmia, Whiteside Ridge have both jumped 22 ranks, and will be facing Abaddon’s Mouth. They are going to in for quiet a shock as AM steamrolls over both servers, it is literally the worse matchup ever, like taking candy from two babies.

We all know WvW has a tonne of bugs which need to be fixed, and that spot is one of them.
Though it is fun luring enemy players to the cliff to see just how many are silly enough to follow you, but that’s when you’re still on the cliff, not using that spot.
You know it’s there, you know when outnumbered enemies will fall back to it, you know there is nothing you can do but leave and wait for them to come out, we all have to face it until Anet fixes it.

A lot of guild groups, even though their commander is a commander, will not run with their commander icon on.
Pugs have become the bane of many guild groups, they see your strength as their own, they’ll rush in and attack everything in site, knowing the rest of us will have to clean up their mess, and they just need to hit each target once and they’ll get their XP. It’s win-win for them, but completely ruins your plans and tactics.
Of course most do it thinking they are helping, and most actually do listen when you tell them why you are only sending 4 people to take out guards, or hiding round the corner whilst 2/3 rams at the only things hitting the gates.
But then you have the ones who dont, who are there to ruin things deliberately.
As for OP’s suggestions, those of us who already run without commander icons already know this wont help, you will still run into pugs, and they will still do what pugs do best. All you can hope is that they are teh good kind of pug who either knows what you are doing without having to ask, or will listen to you.

Agree, WvW is very expensive to play. We see PvE running around with their legendaries whilst we’re lucky to even have a full set of rare equipment.
I do think the chances of getting better loot has increased slightly, but yet again that depends upon you being able to pick up your bags whilst fighting the enemy zerg.
Lets hope for better things in this months WvW patch.

First come first served, if you want to play WvW you can whenever you want, you bought the game and having some “elitist” noob tell you get off so someone else can come on isnt on.
Now my guild has asked pugs to move to a different borderland if a guild group was needed on that borderland but it was full, but never has anyone been told to get out of WvW completely.
In fact many people level their characters completely in WvW, I’ve leveled 5 already from 2-80. Only downside is that you will have low spec gear and WvW is pretty slow at making gold, especially with the repair bills, and will take time to be able to get better gear.
Only advice is that WvW is only good at leveling is you are in a zerg and capture points swap regularly, that way you can recap and get the xp quickly. If there isnt a zerg or a camp capping group then you will find you will get little to no xp in WvW and it would be better to level your character in PvE until WvW gets busy again.

Did any of the mods inform the devs about all the negative feedback about this culling system in December? I for one hardly saw any positive thread about it, and yet Anet decided to bring it back. I’ve had similar things happen to me after the patch. Was in a queue for ten minutes, now we’ve had an influx of new guilds and players on our server, but we’ve never had queues for all the maps before.
Well after 10 minutes I clicked again and got in a borderland straight away. So question is why did I get in on my second attempt when I had been queuing for 10 minutes beforehand?! Surely my first attempt should have priority, but it didnt.

Well there is definitely something wrong with the queues, I queued up for all the BLs on my server, waited 10 minutes and still didnt get in. So I clicked again and got in immediately.
Why was my second attempt to log in given first priority over the queued attempt for which I had been waiting for 10 minutes?!

WvW is not included in the PVP Monthly, it;s the first one of the normal Monthly.
I’ve not done a single monthly since the first month of the release! If Anet want separate monthlies then separate them, dont mix in WvW with PvE.
And seeing the thread on greedy trolls, where 2 players on the team kick all other player in order to invite their guild members instead, thereby wasting all your time, whilst their friend get to do nothing and still get the rewards; I dont think I will be doing any dungeons any time soon.
So why should WvW players be penalized from missing out on monthly rewards because they are not interested in dungeons; and visa versa since I am sure there are PVEers who dont want to WvW, such as bluewanders.5297
If not then do what you are going to do with the dailies, make it so players have to complete 5 achievements from a list. But of course this will take time, and in that time other players would have completed several monthlies whilst those who affected by it we will never do are left at a disadvantage as they wont have enough laurels.

I am almost entirely a WvW, having Fractals or any other dungeon requirement for the Monthly means I cannot get the monthly!

I’ve leveled 5 characters solely on WvW and some crafting. It doesnt really matter which class you play; if you are in a server which runs in a zerg, just follow the zerg around, stay back a little so you dont die straight away, and then just follow around capping keeps and towers.
I’ve has days where I’ve gained over 10 levels in a night, but on bad night I’d be lucky to gain even 2 levels.
So it really does depend on how well your server is doing. Though I did find leveling a thief to very irritating, guess it’s nto for me, but then noone told me all I needed was a dagger and just spam 2 :P

Now Anet are saying in the future you dailies will be a set number from a list of possible achievements, but atm you are tuck having to do the ones given to you.
So the question is, which WvW player will be doing crafting whilst WvWing?! I spend 99% of my time in WvW and such a achievement being required for WvW players is ridiculous.. People in my guild have already said that maybe instead of doing all 5, that you should be able to get the daily from 4/5 from teh list given to you.

God I hope not! After leaving Gunnars we’ve had a lot of fun matchups; but if AG becomes like the tier 1 servers it’ll drain all the fun away.

First of all if it was someone from your server or guild who glitched accidentally, would you have come onto this thread to apologize?! I very much doubt it.
Second, if the portal was deliberate why did only a few people portal instead of 20 followed by another portal to portal for the rest? Simple it was not intended.
Third, ye we had 5 cats, yes, KISS had 5 eles; but when the portal occurred and the gate came down there were still 2 cats. Surely if you were trebbing properly all 5 wold have gone, but we still had 2 left. And KISS had 5 eles, that doesnt include UNTY and other guilds who were there.
Fourth, the gate was down less than 30 seconds after the portal was made, so what, you think you could have saved Hills in that time? At worst it only delayed the inevitable by a few seconds.
Fact is we apologized immediately after it occurred, you have refused to accept that, not our problem.

What killed WvW is the free transfers, remember that free transfers were only supposed to be available for a couple of weeks, 1 month max; but since they have been free from day 1 we’ve had people bandwagoning to the top tier servers claiming the work of the good guilds on those as their own.
For example KISS moved from Gunnars Hold to Aurora Glade and those who took longer to transfer or were undecided got a lot of harassment from some GH members. AG was in the same tier at the time and only 1 rank higher.
Now take TDA, they too were in GH and kept badmouthing us for moving, and yet to our surprise we find ourselves fighting against them cos they are now in Gandara. KISS and others who moved with us helped AG move up the ranks, we worked for that; TDA most likely have not.
It has been this attitude that has messed up the servers and ruined WvW.
I even spent a week in Seafarer’s Rest on a friend’s account and the WvW is all about numbers, there are guild that do use tactics but most were just about sending in the wave of players, and if you wipe, no matter just respawn and charge in again – repeat until you capture the keep.
