It’s sad to quote myself but it seems like you ignored my post. The most effective build you may use in dungeons and Fractals (so NOT solo playing) is this one.
People may argue about it, but there is such a big difference between a Warrior with this or without it.

Anyway, I can understand that you miss the using of F1 but because Berserker’s Power and Heightened Focus exist, you will never going to use it.

There is only one single problem with this build: you must know how to play.If you are not familiar with Warrior, with dodge mechanics or with the dungeon/fractal you are running, then you should avoid using it or play very safely.

Hmm, unfortunately the only solution is solo queue.
I’m saying “unfortunately” because suggesting you the solo queue means throwing a relatively new SPvPer in rated matches, which may be the reason of the loss of your team (and the their point loss for leaderboards).
I don’t want to accuse you, since it is not your fault that this game lacks serious non-rated matches.
kitten , when someone has to learn SPvP it becomes a tough problem…
Wondering why ArenaNet didn’t remove hotjoins already…

Anyway, if you are going for solo queue, do your best!

Here’s one thing I hate about Guild Wars 2 :
When you choose a weapon you’re forced to play the way Anet chose. Whereas the game was branded like “you can play however you want”.
Just look at Skyrim : you can play anything and be efficient.

On the other hand in Guild Wars 1, with my warrior I use to play Sword+Shield and guess what, my build wasn’t around only about bleeds. I could manage the skills so if I wanted burst skills I got them.
In Guild Wars 2 you are just stuck with few skills on your weapon. Which is sad because I always liked the style of dual swords.

And this is not only a warrior issue, it’s on every class. It’s really shameful imo. I hope they’ll bring something new and interesting with the new expansion they’re working on.

This is off-topic but just to say my opinion about it:
Imho every weapon on every class should have exactly the double of skill it has now. Example: Sword should have 5 skills as MH and 4 as OH. When you equip it, you have to pick 3 (or 2 for OH) between the 6 (4) available. In case of 2-handed weapons, you have to pick 5 skills from 10.
THIS would make every class more flexible and enjoyable.

Errr, not at all. Mesmer’s “weapon traits” give 50 bonus stat, not 250, that would be too much.
Imho the 10% critical rate is fine but it needs the cooldown reduction too, I asked for that long time ago and they added it to all weapons except Sword, it was left out during that patch.

About the poison… Hmm… Personally, after the Leg Specialist nerf, having 1s Cripple is useless to me. A 1s Poison would be interesting.

Imho this game need a global tone down on Vigor, dodges and evade frames. Too many classes can avoid/dodge/block so many attacks, that there is no point for them to time dodges: just spam them, you’ll never be out of them.
Of course, if dodges/evades get toned down, then a global cooldown/aftercast increase should be applied.
To make this game more satisfying/nice to watch/nice to play there should be a focus on risk/reward and fail/penalty mechanics.

Current state:
Wasted a dodge? Don’t worry, you have lots of them.
Missed a skill? Don’t worry, the aftercast is short so you can keep going and its cooldown is short too, soon you’ll be able to use it again.
Got hit? Don’t worry, you self-heal soon, just spam dodges/evades meanwhile.

And this is basically why everyone is complaining that skill floor is low. They are right. There is still difference between good and bad players, obviously. But it’s too small to be called “skill gap”.

SPvP main problem is not class balance, 4v5 solo queue, glory farm, reward system, game modes or whatever.
SPvP main problem is that it is absurdly easy.

It’s called a speed hack. This game has no anti cheat system and movement is client based so they are fairly common, though you mainly see them in WvW.

I’ve never seen anyone using any kind of hack. The OP probably is not used to see asura thieves blinking around.

Exactly, using F1 is a bad idea in any case. Good builds maintain adrenaline because of Berserker’s Power and heightened Focus, nothing to do about it.

Watching from the player’s perspective in LoL is no different than hovering the camera over them. The only thing special you get by selecting them is seeing all their CDs.

I believe they talked about free camera before. It was an issue of being difficult to code fully, and the fact that their maps were not designed to be viewed that way, so a lot of stuff a free camera could see wouldn’t look pretty.

Yes, it was discussed during a SotG but currently player’s view sucks (too subjective) and fixed cameras are not placed well (too distant and in some cases too near).
Maybe a total free camera can’t be done but give the possibility do zoom-in/out on fixed cameras (which will basically mean move forward and backward, which leads to free camera, lol) and a bit of mobility on them.

@Bhawb: Not true about LoL, you can watch from player’s perspective too but no one does it because it’s really ugly to watch and right this is GW2 problem.
There should be a free camera, not player perspective nor fixed camera.
Free camera would improve greatly the “watchability” of matches.

let us change the stats per item to fully be able to modify our builds how we see fit. Just like in Pve/WvW

the amulet system will never allow for any build diversity since you will be very limited on your choices.

That limit is absolutely voluntary to prevent some stat combinations. Example: Knight in SPvP gives Vitality instead of Toughness.

On your first point: It is true that the shield has a longer, solid block. Remember, however, that the reworking of riposte is such that the blocking with offhand sword is now no longer canceled until you block a melee attack. I think you still make a solid point, but I also wonder in what situations you would place yourself where you are going to be blocking a slew of melee (as opposed to projectile) attacks and not trying to kite. Perhaps when being pursued by HS-spamming thieves?

On your second point: This is a huge selling point of the shield, imho, and not to be overlooked. The only reason this point might receive less attention is that, given the stun-heavy warrior meta, you might expect opponents to carry tons of stun-break. In PvE, you also have to worry about stun-resistant/immune mobs. In these cases, you get a gap-closer that deals decent damage, but that is about it. On the other hand, one might question if such niche cases weigh heavily enough against this point in the shield’s favor.

I’m aware of the reworking on that block, it was a good thing (wondering why ArenaNet didn’t do the same on Mace #2…). The most common case for me to like the 3s block is against a Thief that is coming in stealth, ready to burst me down. It’s nice to see all his attacks wasted against my shield.
Another situation may be if you have to play for time. In this case it is “3s of pause”, to wait for your CDs.

It’s true that a lot of people now carry more than one stun-breaker and that’s not a disadvantage to Shield #4, the opposite: if they use a stun-break for Shield stun, they won’t have it for Mace F1 ^^

@Shinoobi: I highly recommend to NOT take the Longbow trait (number IV on 4th line). As you can read on the Wiki, it has a bug since long time ago: you get more range , all of your arrows become 100% combo finishers (not written in trait tooltip) BUT you lose ~10% damage on auto-attack. However Smoldering Arrows (skill #4) gets double damage.

This might also help for those that are used to the diversity of builds in PvE and WvW or have no friends. Then try to do it in sPvP then get this jarring effect of no that can’t be done. I understand the need to restrict but would it hurt to spread out the trinkets a little for minor adjustments to a build.

Diversity in builds is what I think makes a good balanced esport.

Hmm, not sure if that is needed.
Currently you have 100 different combinations.
If you add other trinkets, this number rises to 500.
Do you really need that? It would be more confusing rather than simplier.

I think Shield will be overall more useful SPvP speaking:

  • 3s of block rather than one attack
  • 2s stun (with Sigil of Paralyzation) which will go down to 1,15s BUT it is a small but useful gap closer with a short stun that helps you to start the combo
    I would to see dual wielding Sword though :P

Well yes I know they are meta builds they are effective because they are easy to play and are self sustaining and hammer longbow has so much aoe with lot of sustain. The mace stun build I pretty much was playing for 6-7 months and made the variation 0/30/20/0/20 than gave it to few friends and it now is a lot more popular now since it became easy and was revealed to everyone by few people who actually posted onto forums a week ago. There’s no point of him playing easy to play specs if hes new and straight away plays a meta build trust me he will just feel so much weaker once those builds are toned down. The best way to start of as a warr would be to start with zerk than work your way up learning the fundamentals. Meta builds ignore fundamentals they bypass them and will come to haunt him later if he does not learn them early. That’s my reasoning for him not to play cheese meta builds. But, of course its his choice to choose what build he would like to play.

Agree on this.
The best way to “find your path” is to pick up a pretty standard damage-oriented build and play some matches.
After those matches, ask yourself: what am I lacking? Sustain, control, damage, survivability? Do I like the play style of these weapons or do I prefer something more dynamic/static?
Start with the default build and then tweak it step by step. This is how a good player is forged, by experience and self-analysis.
Copy-pasting has sense only when you have a solid base and you want to experience something new to compare with your current play.

I may understand the complaining about current Warriors but I can’t stand complaining about “constantly buffed”.
It is plain obvious that your main is NOT a Warrior since you don’t know what it meant being a Warrior in SPvP for first 11 months of this game.
Cry about present, but do not even try to touch the past, Warrior was a joke for too long.
Sorry for the a non-neutral tone in the post, but your post is just over the top.

Oh, and about having a lot of viable weapons, if other classes have a lot of not viable weapons, then it is developers fault, not Warrior’s.

And you don’t need Forceful Greatsword, since you alone (with 30-0-0-10-30) can provide yourself 11 costant Might stacks (FGJ, Sigil of Battle and Versatile Power) plus other 6 stacks for 66% of the time with Signet of Rage. Other Might stack will be provided from your party members.
So invest only 10 points in second line and spend 10 more in the first, to get Berserker’s Power which is 15% more damage, it is an obvious and basic choice.

My critical chance is 90% and I’m not even using Sigil of Accuracy on my OH Mace (I prefer Sigil of Battle, overall higher DPS).
Critical damage bonus is 123% so every critical is 273% of damage.
Traits 30-0-0-10-30, full Berserker, GS / Axe + Mace.
In first line, as second big trait, I took IX to increase GS damage, but if you prefer Pure Axe build, you can take trait X which leads you to 133% critical damage bonus.
Of course using Banner of Discipline and Signet of Fury.

Triple weapon set is an old idea, it was discussed a lot but (apart from being balanced or OP) the problem is its implementation. Game mechanics don’t allow three weapon sets, Hero panel doesn’t have three slots, question about shortcuts (you rotate between them or you have 3 buttons to switch, each for a weapon?).
You’ll never see that happen, too drastic.

Berserker’s Stance should reduce any condition by its default duration.
So its counter should be condition duration bonus.
(Example: if a condition basic duration is 10s but you got it with 50% condition duration bonus, your Berserker’s Stance will remove 10s but you’ll still get hit by 5s).
That is how it was supposed to work. But since ArenaNet messed up, it simply blocks everything.
No one is abusing it, since the only way to “not abuse” is to not use it at all. Which seems ridiculous to say to players “do not use that skill! it’s bugged but we will fix it in a month or two! since then: don’t use it!”.

Imho Warrior is currently the class with the highest number of efficient builds in SPvP.
There is no “best build” for it, it’s not “bound to meta” like most classes fortunately.
A very common build is 0-10-30-0-30 Mace+Shield/GS but I do not recommend the GS, only common players get pwned by it.
You should make a lot of test because Warrior is really malleable

Hmm, it depends on your playstyle. The most common build in PVE currently is 30-0-0-10-30 with Axe+Mace / GS, a full DPS build but some people find it boring.
SPvP speaking, it’s an entirely different matter, Warriors are probably the class with the highest number of possible efficient build variability, so you have to test a lot until you find what you like ^^
For WvW I can’t help you, I don’t play that part of the game.

Mending is fine.
Cleansing Ire is not, considering how low is the cooldown of burst skills.
The solution isn’t to tone down the stuns, but to give a reasonable cooldown to burst skills.

Skull Crack should be at least on 20-25s cooldown, same about Earthshaker. Those are really powerful skills and considering how fast a warrior can load up adrenaline, they are just insane.

Berserker’s Stance is broken too. If you have condition duration, conditions won’t pass the stance anyway. Automated Response is another insanely stupid trait and I’ve already said my opinion about it.

About Burst skill cooldown: that is exactly what I wrote up there and what you quoted too. Why did you write it again? XD
About Berserker’s Stance: is your just a pessimist why or are you talking about a bug (conditions stopped even when longer than normal)?

You can’t tone down stuns too much. To put Skull Crack to 2s, you have to lower Hammer F1 to 1s, which is useless.
And I agree with you about the too high condition “immunity”. Warrior was lacking condition removal but now it has too many of it:

  • Mending now 3 conditions (shouldn’t be touched)
  • Cleansing Ire 3 conditions every 10s average (maybe tone down this, but I can’t see how; increasing Burst skill cooldown MAY be a solution but in this case then Brawn should be changed from 30% increased recharge rate to 45% cooldown reduction; with that change, normal Burst skill may be changed to 20s or so, but ONLY with Brawn change)
  • Berserker’s Stance 8 to 10s of condition immunity (as far as I know, it decreases condition duration by its original duration; so if you have some condition duration bonus, you should be fine for those 8s, I can’t udnerstand why people complain about this so much, Engineer’s Automatic Response is far worse imho)
  • Signet of Stamina total condition cleanse (no need for any change here)

I’m repeating what you are saying, but people should stay more calm and discuss politely rather than whining, spamming, raging, insulting and ragequitting.

3s of Stun was also before with Sigil of Paralyzation. After the update, the max will be 3,45, nor more 4. So from then till now it increased by 0,kitten .
Cleansing Ire has nothing to do with stuns and damage.
Brawn doesn’t reduce cooldown, it increases the recharge rate (lame idea imho). And even if you put 30 points in that line (not worth, imho) you still get a reduction of 2s and a half (more or less).
People complains about Skull Crack, 100B but it was perfectly avilable even during beta. People complained about Bull’s Charge, Frenzy, 100B but then stopped because it was kitten easy to counter and they started realizing it.

People should think more about “how to counter” and post suggestion about that rather than “QQ, please nerf”.

Warriors finally became viable and you want to nerf them, again.
As you can see, ArenaNet started introducing counters to Stealth rather than nerfing Stealth itself.
By adding counters you give the players the possibility to plan a strategy. With nerfs you get nothing, only whining from nerfed class.

Oh, last note: if you want a fix/nerf/balance then you should suggest something. Writing “it’s OP” has no use.

Go for Berserker, Assassins is not worth, since you can cap critical rate (or nearly cap) with full Berserker (I reach 90% currently).
I suggest you to go for Ace and Mace rather than Double Axes.

Let me remind you that Warrior stuns and damage didn’t change much lately. Its condition removal and sustain improved but people on forums are complaining about stun-locks, which were available since launch (and many players used Hammer / Ace+Shield build since then).
It’s not the “meta of stunlock Warrior” the issue here. The issue is that no one complained about Warriors since now because no one was playing them.

You can go pure Axe+Mace or switch between Axe+Mace and GS.
You switch to GS only for 100B and 3# if enemy is against a wall, #5 otherwise. Then you go back to Axe for two series of auto-attacks (remember to use #2 and Mace #4) and then switch again to GS.
Both build have same trait apart from second Major trait in first line:

  • Pure Axe: take X (Axe Mastery)
  • GS switch: take IX (Slashing Power) (it helps underwater too )

An open beta server should be fine. Just to mention it one more time (lol) LoL has a PBE (Public Beta Environment) server which everyone can access and try new features before they get released. Obviously there is a forum just for it where players post suggestions, bug reports and so on. It seems a good mechanic too me.

The problem here is that ArenaNet cares a lot about class/skills coherency: you’ll never see a Warrior casting spells, so why should he has “magic” banners?
