Sanctum of Rall
Sanctum of Rall
All 4 borderlands are still queued during NA prime. Every zone has wall to wall people everywhere, it will take you at least 30 minutes to get into Lion’s Arch if you’re in the overflow. Any dungeon you can find a group for in under 5 minutes (minus story modes).
People have consolidated into the few larger servers. Unfortunately in an effort to find 24/7 coverage for WvW the Tier 1 servers are full of displaced Europeans and Asians looking for defenders during their off hours, so those generally are not a good place to go unless those are your primary play hours.
Tarnished Coast, Crystal Desert, and Sanctum of Rall are absolutely booming with healthy North American populations and should be the target for any American based player looking to transfer.
- If you want to level slower overall, go to areas below your level and never level in an area that’s the same level as you. This will actually make it harder and harder to level
This one actually doesn’t work. They have normalized experience across the board so killing a lvl 3 creature at lvl 70 gives you the same amount of experience as killing a lvl 70 creature at lvl 70.
My ranger did Queensdale, Kessex Hills, Metrica Province, and Caledon Forest only. Having made lvl 80 about 3/4 of the way through Caledon Forest.
I came from FFXI where getting maximum level, which was 75, though achievable by anyone, it felt like a solid accomplishment. There were a lot of struggles along the way, for example, the limit break quests, where if we didn’t complete, we couldn’t level up beyond that level, even though we continue racking up exp points.
Another obstacle is the Kazham key quest, in order to get to levelling areas level 30+, everyone needs to do this, or else they don’t get access to the zone. You need to get this key, which are located at 3 dungeons strewn across the land, and parties are required.
Another obstacle is the Airship pass, and Chocobo pass, in order to take the main transportation systems. You have to nurture the chocobo and feed it Gyashl green over a time period, or you fail.
Another obstacle is the Artifact armor quests at level 60, where it’s almost mandatory for everyone to excel at parties at level 60+, and to prepare for the final limit break quest at 70. If you don’t complete the limit break at 70, you will never get pass that level.
Another obstacle: that parties were requirements, so we built up friends, and we seek out the same people if they did well in parties. So we rack up reputation of each other, and we knew the names of the best paladins, and the best white mages to seek.
Any game that forced me to do those kinds of activities would be on my shelf and never installed again. I’d probably quit it to go play another game, one that didn’t force me to do anything that I didn’t want to do.
Hey look! A wild Guild Wars 2 approaches!
Not a fan of this scoring system at all.
I am not going to say that any server in Tier 2 would beat any server in Tier 1 but how are we ever going to find out if the server that has won in Tier 2 the last 3 weeks continues to go down in rating while the server that finishes in last in Tier 1 continues to go up.
It’s time to bring Tarnished Coast in here. They may not be as good as SoR, but like SoR they don’t give up.
Now what would make you think that?
The servers in Tier 2 (BG,SoR,IoJ) have all improved drastically over the last month. It would be nice to see one of them have a chance in Tier 1 to see how they would compete. Unfortunately, none of them will get a shot in Tier 1 because they keep playing each other to a relative draw in Tier 2. This is the problem with the current system.
It’s also evident at the bottom of the ladder as well, Devona’s Rest and Kaineng would be a tough challenge for say Gate of Madness, Sorrow’s Furnace or Anvil Rock but will not get the opportunity to play them because they keep playing each other to a draw in Tier 8.
Sanctum of Rall - 71,221 +325
Blackgate - 65,131 +215
Isle of Janthir - 52,007 +155
Can someone use a better translator and make some logic out of this post.
Ranger’s Longbow 2 skill is a channeled series of shots similar to the warrior’s hundred blades skill. Even if you invis/stealth it will keep firing. The best way to avoid it is to just move out of the way, apparently this gentlemen thought going invis and not moving would be enough.
I don’t know if that quest is the best example because even in the real world no matter how mosquitoes you kill there are always more just waiting for you to drop you guard.
Not only do I agree with this but I feel it helps the immersion. You can never kill all the mosquitos, just like you can never kill all the krait or invading hyleks. These DEs repeating help to make the area feel like a massive invasion with waves of attackers.
Okay, I’ll bite.
I’m full glass cannon on my ranger right now and even with full vul debuffs my Longbow 2 will only do 10-12k. What’s hitting you for so much?
The reason most Elementalists dont use swirling winds should be fairly obvious.
This a video game that is played for fun and enjoyment, there’s nothing even remotely fun about planting your backside next to a treb for hours and spamming swirly whirlies.
Wow, you guys have queues?
I can’t remember the last time I had to wait in a queue on Blackgate for anything other than EBG.
When Rall says it’s NA prime heavy we’re not exaggerating. I would say that 99% of the server plays during NA prime and yes we are usually queued 3 of 4.
@Isredel
I would never tell you or your guild how to play. Whomever said to you that you suck and need to get out of Green borderlands was wrong, that person is flat out ignorant and a jerk. There is no place for that on Sanctum of Rall, I’d have reported him if I had seen it.
The issue that I have is that you came to the alliance and requested a borderland for your own, we agreed to it and because we agreed to it none of the other guilds went to Green the entire week. We had players sitting in Red/EB queues that could have gone to Green but did not because that is what you asked for and they were paying you courtesy. You did not repay the same courtesy, your overflow went into Red and effectively blocked 5 guilds from being able to play together.
There’s no reason that we can’t work together, if your stance is that you want to be able to freely move your guild between the 4 borderlands, that’s perfectly fine. We’ll split the guilds in the alliance evenly between the 4 worlds.
We’re willing to accommodate any request that you have just be clear with what you want and don’t go back on your own word.
It’s the Order of Whispers.
I don’t see it, maybe you’re just on a small server.
Come to Sanctum of Rall, there’s kitten people everywhere.
I think most of SoR are straight up WvW addicts.
This is starting to be true.
Sadly, this addiction from a lot of SoR’s community has made elitism rampant among us. Drama-filled elitism. People who are only having fun so long as they’re winning. Players or other guilds that may not be as skilled as some others are regularly being told to get out of WvW or outright being called a waste of space.
It’s childish, disrespectful, and wrong. I not only disagree with it, I heavily condemn it.
The anger towards your guild had nothing to do with an elitest attitude or being lesser skilled.
Your representatives at the server meeting requested an entire borderland for your guild as its so large, we accomidated this request by giving you green.
Your guild then preceded to come into red locking out members from the various other guilds that were assigned to red.
The outrage was more than justified.
@Topix, BG hits us to keep the lead.
IoJ hits to stay in the tier. Either way it causes a ton of fun.
I’d take fun over boring any day.
This is how I feel as well. Can’t get enough though these 8 hour gaming days are killing my sleep.
Sea of Sorrows would be the best location for you. Tarnished Coast, Isle of Janthir, and Stormbluff Isle would probably be the next best choices.
Baconator, best sandwich ever!!!
I have yet to understand why we always focus on IOJ in EB instead of BG. Blackgate has everything max upgraded with full supplies. Yet we try and take over SM while Yaks pour into SM from there side. Also as long as they have Klovan, if we do take SM, they easily get it back from the trebs there.
But no one listens to me. Then we wonder why IOJ hits us instead of BG. And last night they left us alone for the most part and were harassing BG taking Wildrun from them and the supply camp near it.
There needs to be some perspective here.
SoR’s Oceanic/European crew is only about 40 strong and realistically against a strong guild such as IoJ’s ND we struggle to hold even in 1 BL.
On a given night, we have about 25 players defending our home world and 15 players trying to make advances into EB. But invariably ND and AVTR from IoJ stack into our home world with 50+ players meaning we can make no advances only attempting to hold. In EB, iCoa from BG stacks into our valley with 30+ players again meaning we can make no advances only attempting to hold what we can.
The issue here is that if IoJ were attempting to win the matchup, ND and AVTR would not be in SoR borderlands, they would be in BG borderlands or EB attempting to take ground from them. They prefer to attack us because they know we stand no chance against them meanwhile BG may in fact be able to give them a decent fight, it’s good strategy if they’re looking to stay in Tier 2 but not if they want to win.
Whether or not someone else got a chest does not affect you.
I understand being upset if you did not receive one but if your legitimately upset that someone who did not attend the event received one by mistake then you need to reexamine your priorities in life.
At the risk of taking an infraction, quit being a little kitten and be happy that your fellow player caught a lucky break.
I think thieves are fine.
I have a DnD Ele and a Conditions Ranger. I feel like I win when I am the better player and lose when I am outplayed. Can’t ask for more than that.
Edit: Rangers are not as weak a class as many perceive, its just that a lot of lesser skilled players tend to prefer rangers much the same as Hunters were in WoW.
Personally, I feel my ranger is stronger in 1v1 combat than my Ele.

Received mine as well, two rares, two exotics, accessory and box.
Absolutely thrilled to see a resolution to this, couldn’t be more pleased!
A+ Anet, A+!!!!
It’s both, it’s not intended to be in the game which makes it an exploit but for all the blatant hacking and glitching that goes on in WvW I am not taking someone to the gallows for rezzing through a door.
That rush attitude is part of the reason I do not do dungeons.
The lore is fabulous, I just youtube it.
500v500v500 on a super map?
The lag would be so bad you wouldnt be able to use actions, your FPS would drop to 2-3 and players would not render for minutes. Its a server capacity issue otherwise ANet would do this already.
Good players leave bad guilds and bad players leave good guilds, however, good players do not leave good guilds.
Its a player issue, not a system issue.
So essentially you’re saying “Do nothing” about the problem?
It’s like climate change then. Just ignore it and maybe it will go away.
This is one of GW2’s biggest issues. MMORPG.com and now Gamespy.com have both run articles about this issue. Numerous people in this thread have noticed the problem.
I don’t expect people with less than 500 hours in GW2 to realize it is even a issue but to those of us who are well over 500 hours it’s become apparent there is a pretty big problem with guilds in this game.
Say it’s a player issue all you want. Any economist would argue that it’s a system issue. Are you going to ask people to interact more in Guild chat? Stop guild hopping as much? Good luck with that approach.
Maybe we should just ask people to stop whaling, elephant tusk hunting, insider trading……….yeah, that will work. Maybe we should just ask people to get along instead of having laws next. 10,000 years of human history would disagree that works.
Argue all you want about human nature, it won’t change human nature.
Exaggerations and straw mans galore.
If you don’t want guild hoppers and shady people in your guild, don’t invite them.
There was a reason guilds in Everquest forced players to go through a 2 month initiation period.
Eventually IoJ will drop to Tier 3 and Tarnished Coast will move up. IoJ would decimate Tier 3, probably scoring enough to jump SoR. Blackgate would also score a ton in that week since TC would pack it in after day 1.
I think we’d go from BG SoR IoJ -> BG SoR TC -> JQ IoJ SoR in 3 weeks.
Good players leave bad guilds and bad players leave good guilds, however, good players do not leave good guilds.
Its a player issue, not a system issue.
You know I have to laugh.
I am not sure exactly how many people or golems would have been necessary to take Woodhaven against 15 defenders but I know how many were used.
Overkill!!!
Sorry Indo, that’s not allowed.
I’d have to go back to having Miasmic lead me off cliffs, can’t happen.
My ranger was 27 when I left Queensdale, 55 when I left Kessex Hills and is 61 with only about 1/4 of Gendarren Fields completed.
Its a matter of playstyle, I kill every creature, pickup every interactable and talk to every NPC I pass.
I thought the book is just a fashion item to get a blue cap which looks like a pyramid
I know that’s what I use mine for!
80 Elementalist/61 Ranger - 3018 kills, 574 badges, 403 hours
Think it also needs to be said that I am near completing my ’Master of Disaster’ achievement, a vast majority of my time in WvW is spent building siege in keeps/towers for defense.
No they shouldn’t.
What you’re suggesting isn’t realistic.
6-3
Add kill shot warriors
I see a pretty steady increase in population. No, I am not trolling you.
I think since the Tier 1 servers are full, players are starting to migrate into Tier 2. I see new faces everyday on Sanctum of Rall. Yesterday all 4 borderlands were full and queued, and its stemming into the PvE world as well. There’s people in every zone to DEs with.
Fine here as well.
Not a fan of dungeons so I put the elementalist in full exotics on the shelf until they add a way to get Ascended/Legendary items that doesn’t force me to do dungeons. Well, unless I get called to WvW then she comes out.
Started leveling a ranger, just finished Kessex Hills and I am already lvl 55 having only done 2 zones. This profession rocks, dont know why they get all te hate.
Little disappointed the ele is out of both vertical and horizontal progression that I enjoy but definitely not going to keep me from enjoying the game.
The game’s damage output and total health pool is balanced around the downed state though. The downed state isn’t just some tack on to a balanced combat system, some extra addition thrown in to the mix, no, it is part of the combat system as a whole. Do you understand what I mean? Without the downed state, they would need to rework all damage amounts, all health levels, all that stuff. I think too many people have the WoW (or other MMO) mentality about this particular mechanic, and see it as two separate things.
This needs to emphasized.
I am perfectly okay with removing downed state if you cut all damage output in half.
Yah we destroyed TC the last time we played them. Literally within 2 hours after reset they had packed it in for the week, I think we scored 515k that week.
For as much as I dislike playing against an opponent whose prime is different than mine, I would much rather face even competition than someone who we’d bury at the start and have nothing to do all week.
Wish our NA was as strong as our Oceanic on IoJ. Had outmanned in all three zones last night. At least I can roam relatively well as a Mesmer. Not quite as good as Thief, but close. Thank you Centaur Runes!
Man, your Oceanic team is incredible. We had fought with uA/AVTR at our main inner gate in garrison for a good half hour and it looked as if we had the fight won, we pushed them out and sent everyone off to get supply to rebuild the gates.
No sooner than everyone leaves, ND is beating on our water gate and was in on our lord before anyone had returned with supply. I do not know if this was a coordinated attack or just a simple stroke of luck, but it caught us completely off guard.
Was definitely well played!
I like them being a lengthy objective. I actually wish it took longer for them to be achieved as I am nearing completion of Master of Disaster.
Congrats IoJ on taking all 3 borderlands and 75% of EB, where were those numbers on the weekend when we actually had people to play against you?
The only effective counter to portals is AoE but that has been nerfed to a maximum of 5 targets. Either make portal a maximum of 5 players or remove the AoE cap.
I am a casual player with a full set of exotics who despises dungeons. I am out of progression, both horizontal and vertical.
I may as well spend my gold on gems since there is nothing else to spend it on.
I have a hard time believing you made it to lvl 10 on 3 characters and never saw another person. You may have valid points but such an exaggeration makes me believe you’re just trolling.
I consider myself to be a casual player and I have a full set of exotics.
There is no horizontal or vertical progression left in the game for me to do at the moment. While I would be interested in chasing after a Legendary or Ascended I will not do dungeons which prohibits me from obtaining either at the moment.
Until they add some sort of progression to the game that doesn’t require dungeon play, many players like myself will just sit on the sidelines tapping their feet impatiently waiting.
Perfectly fine with price of Cultural 3 here, just wish there was some light armor that didn’t make my character look like a kitten.
