Sanctum of Rall
Pro tip, learn to dodge so you can stay out of the path of a hammer train.
hm you have access to infinite dodges then? 1-2 of em is np, but 4-5+ is and no dimishing returns on cc is something this game could use so people can spam their cc mindlessly whenever they want, but able to penalize themself as they see skill going on cooldown, but no or less effect.
Use superior sigil of stamina and you will basically have infinite endurance during a zerg fight.
Are you sure it’s a troll post?
There are guilds that really do think that way. (See: [TW]Tempest Wolves)
It takes a certain mentality to play a thief.
Nobody transfers down.
Forget free transfers, I wouldn’t play on a ghost town server if someone offered me $100.
So tired of these conspiracy theories...
For 6 months, it was all SoR is doing this and SoR is doing that. Do we really need to repeat this process now with BG?
This is a video game, people are under no obligation to play. Quit worrying about what others are doing and worry about yourself.
Here’s the problem,
All the speed runners, min/maxers, and zerker heavy onlys have chased the casual player base away from the dungeons.
ANet looks at their metrics and sees no one in the dungeons. They see that the TA:Aetherblade update was unsuccessful. Most players like myself did it once and will never do it again or simply passed on it. Meanwhile they look at Lion’s Arch and there’s 10k people doing it. You have an update that interests 10000 people at any given moment or one that interests maybe 50 people in total a day. Its not a very hard decision as to what’s better for business.
Not pointing the finger at you or anyone in particular but its the price that gets paid for being an kitten. Hardcore WvW guilds push players away, ANet stops doing WvW updates. sPvP players rip on people that play ele in tournies and rage quit on skyham, ANet stops doing PvP updates. In this case, the same is true for dungeons.
we asked where balance
he asked where we need more siege
took spreadshot to face
If your computer struggles with large groups in PvE, its going to explode in WvW.
I’d recommend avoiding zergs and run in small groups. Small man WvW favors thieves, mesmers, and Nike warriors. I’d probably recommend warrior as you can just equip a hammer and go zerging or a rifle and go commander sniping. It’s without a doubt the most flexible class.
To the people telling the poster that chests should be avoided at all costs: if everyone took that advice then you would have no skins to buy off of the TP. Some people take the initiative to gamble so you lot wouldn’t have to.
I use that same logic when I go drinking…
Sweetheart, if I don’t drink than Busch may go out of business and you don’t want all those people unemployed do you?
Doesn’t work….
^ lol
Pretty sure you’ll see JQ and TC competing. We may not be able to win but we’re certainly going to try.
Legendaries are the only true PvE endgame this game offers. RNG is fine when its tied to fluff like minis and tonics, but it sucks when its tied to the core feature.
Anti-zerg mechanic.
I wish they’d double the damage, triple the range and make it unavoidable.
I had to check your post history because usually this level of enjoyment with the game only comes from new players. Given your account name is Frostfang it was hard to believe you were a new player tho and you aren’t.
After reading your post history, I am rather appalled at how genuinely happy you are with the game and how positive your attitude is. People like you make it difficult for trolls like me to continue to post in a disrespectful and derogatory fashion. Your happiness is infectious, please keep it away from the forums.
Are you sure it’s not just your connection?
Outside of SMC, its been months since I’ve gotten skill lag.
Hello, I’m just an average GW2 player, been on SoR since day 1 and don’t plan on going anywhere. I consider myself a so-so WvWer, definitely nothing special. During SoR’s time in the top tiers, I got to fight alongside and against some amazing WvWers, I learned a ton and for that I’m really grateful. I got to see some amazing ‘How the kitten did they pull that off?’ maneuvers from many different guilds and commanders.
Sure, there was some friction now and then, misunderstandings and such. But they were usually quickly forgotten when the actual battle started. But things got, I don’t know “weird”, a bit before season 1 started.
I’m only 1 person and this is only 1 incident. It was a Saturday night, things looked hopping . I popped into a borderland and a small group of players was putting together a havoc squad, so I joined up with them. We weren’t all in the same guild, so I guess that means we were the dreaded “pugs”. Our spokesperson asked in map chat, if the commander would like us do anything specific, then asked again. No answer. So off we go.
We slapped a few dolyaks, picked off reinforcements, and took a supply camp. The commander was attacking garrison, we asked in map if they wanted us to join up with them. This time one of the members of the group that was on TS asked there as well. Still no answer. We go ahead and take a 2nd supply camp after they capture garrison and this exchange takes place.
Map: Hey are you guys that took Stargrove a guild group?
Us: No
Map: Are you in TS?
Us: 2 of us are
Map: Could you guys leave this bl so [blank] can get in?
Us: Why?
Map: You’re not following the commander’s orders and we’re trying to win here.We asked for orders and didn’t get any. So on our own we stopped supply and reinforcements from getting to garrison during the attack and took 1 fully upgraded supply camp. And we weren’t trying to win? My logic circuits fried at that point, so I said goodbye to my group and logged out (for quite some time actually).
Again this is just one incident, and it may have been very isolated. But that’s what I mean when things seemed to get ‘weird’ for me.
Best of luck to all the guilds that have migrated away and I hope you have a blast wherever you land. Because isn’t the point of playing GW2 to have fun?
(Sorry for Wall o’ text)
Good huntingwow, that incident was pretty bad, if there were more like that i guess SoR deserved to be where it is at right now.
I was on SoR from Nov 2012 to April 2013 before transferred to TC, so I was there when SoR was fighting to get into T1 and remembered all the tough match up resets against BG. I still remember Indo’s speech:
That was great moment in time, I just cant believe how the “elitism” got so out of control against the PUGs. I still dont like BG, I guess one thing is right about them, they welcome all those that wants to WvW, whether in a WvW guild or just random PUGs.
‘Elitism’ was never an issue until IRON showed up. TW and FEAR were always full of arrogant players but it didn’t matter back in the day. Indo and Ace put hundreds of hours into training commanders and guilds. They were excellent leaders especially in the open field and everyone respected them.
But things changed when IRON showed up. It stopped being a server effort to climb to the top and it became about which guild could farm the most bags/kills. Everyone who wasn’t in one of those guilds got kitten on and ignored. I can’t count the number of times we lost T3 keeps and towers because people were off fighting in same random corner on the map.
I remember back about 5-6 months ago when SoR had similar issues getting on our own BL. ANet told us there were no issues and we were liars. I am sure they will tell you the same thing.
Define ’win’
A well played warrior, thief, mesmer, or elementalist can escape from any fight. Is not dying considered winning or do you have to actually kill the opponent?
There is nothing accurate about this. someone didn’t get a group in some event on sor so is badmouthing the server, lol.
Shrug, I agree with him.
Honeymooon from SoR was 4250+ about a month ago. He doesn’t really talk but he’s the highest I know of.
Rank 4250…that’s insane! Is GW2 his full-time hobby/day job?
has to be, cuz it’s not possible otherwise. 4244 ranks (excluding 1-5) is over 21 million wxp. thats 2100 flipping SM, 350k player kills that all gave 60 wxp each which isn’t likely, and so on.. the guy has to play at least 10-12 hours a day. i saw a gold footman the other day in EotM.
How sure are we thats legit. I recall an Anet dev recently saying nobody had currently passed 3000 ranks, about a month back.
The guy is on almost 24/7 but we didn’t believe it either until someone from JQ confirmed seeing a Diamond Invader on SoR. There’s no other person it could be.
FA/Mag have both been great opponents this week. Loving the smaller fights and duels.
I do have to apologize for the huge off hour blobs tho. Trust me, We (GC) are trying to run with small numbers but are having a lot of Rallians attach to us.
Honeymooon from SoR was 4250+ about a month ago. He doesn’t really talk but he’s the highest I know of.
You’ll never be able to catch them in the act anyway.
I don’t want to get an infraction so let’s just say they can see you long before you see them so they know what keeps and towers have no scouts.
I find it amusing that I’ve never heard of or seen the 1st, 4th, 5th guilds prior to today. Oh well, guess I’m out of the loop.
What if I don’t care about PPT or the fights?
If I wanted a fair, challenging fight I would go play sPvP. I would care about the PPT meta if it wasn’t so boring, scouting towers, walking yaks, PvDooring, all of that is lame but vital to winning.
No really, all I want to do in WvW is mindlessly zerg down small wandering groups than watch them cry about it on the forums. Looks like I’m winning!
First thought that popped into my mind after watching the video:
ArenaNet is destroying the most convenient hub in the game to craft and congregate so they can push more royal terrace passes and tradesman packages in the gem store.
If SoR is just doing this to get out of T1 faster, all power to you since the low morale caused by staying in T1 is really not healthy for your server anymore. However I would suggest you guys shed a bit more guilds (especially your OCX/SEA guilds), otherwise you would be back in T1 in no time….
SoR still has ocx guilds? Oh wait thats right we don’t have any left.
Hire, GC
Most of HIRE has merged into GC and most of GC is leaving for ESO.
Ah, so they will be back in GW2 in no time then, given horrible ESO seems to be:)
Shrug.
It’s better than this.
Irrespective of the e-kitten-waving contest between BG and JQ, as of this writing SoR is ticking +20 in the middle of a weekend, and that’s not good for anyone.
Speak for yourself. I want to fall out of tier 1.
BG logic at its finest.
Bashes SoR for fighting pugs in EotM.
Sits in SoRBL fighting doors and the warg.
Great logic there.....
lollipop guild song plz
It looks awesome on a female asura.
Being on a dominant color is just going to get you put into an empty overflow.
EG of SoR used to run Tequatl, twice a day, every day. They got 3 Ascended chests from Tequatl every week on average.
150 people x 1 hour x 2 a day = 300 invested man hours per day
300 man hours x 7 days = 2100 man hours per week
2100 man hours per week / 3 Ascended chests = 700 man hours per Ascended chest.
If you killed Tequatl every day, it would take you 2 years on average to get 1 Ascended drop.
Name me any other MMO where it takes 2 years (have to play every day) to get 1 item.
BG had ppt leading 2 times during EU last week out of 7 days. Hardly makes for a EU dominance.
Don’t listen to this guy or any BG member for that matter. They still feel their the underdog despite massively outnumbering the other two servers in population.
BG has lead Euro every day this week. Throw out last week because as the BG players stated themselves they were focusing on PvE killing wurm and you have…..
So anyway, last week aside BG has had the lead during euro 10 of the last 10 weeks. I do believe that is a perfect score and would be consider dominance in that time zone.
Don’t listen to the guy that is an integral part of the BG war council, who runs probably one of the most disciplined guilds on the server, the arguably best EU force on any NA server, the guy whose guild has single handedly put in 10 to 12 hour+ playing shifts almost every day this week, coming up against map blobs on every BL and not shying away from any fight.
Yes, don’t listen to the guy whose guild have smashed the JQ karma training pvd blobs all week in EU, definitely not, don’t listen to him, hasn’t a clue what he’s talking about at all…That JQ karma pve train in WvW must be pretty upset this week that BG’s EU guild came out in force to smash them, and not a tag to be seen anywhere really for your tag watchers to avoid. Keep on making alt guilds to hide yourselves away in JQ, trying to save face every time your blob runs away from an average group of 15 from BG.
What the kitten are you even talking about?

……I WAS on SoR…..
Sure you were…
BG is so worried about their standing in the world, they have their pugs making up posts.
Fort Aspenwood during league. Transferred to SoR the final week of leagues when it looked like SoR would drop to green T2. Moved to BG last week, also mains a thief .
Typical BG player/mindset.
I stopped roaming when half the classes in the game became unkillable.
Nike warrior and fiery ele have straight line movement speed that is unmatched, you simply can not catch one if they run away. Meanwhile thief/mesmer have 90% stealth uptime and teleports.
If you put a competent player on any of those 4 classes and it’s impossible to die unless you’re zerged by a large amount of people. It’s not fun....
I run a PU mesmer in WvW and all I do is troll people. You can keep someone combat locked forever with 90% stealth uptime. After about 10 minutes, they either rage quit or run to a tower.
Honestly, I just leveled this character 6 days ago and haven’t been killed yet. A good PU mesmer is simply impossible to kill. Granted he may not kill you either, but I’m just in it for the kittenos.
Let’s just congradulate BG on their hard-fought come-from-behind miracle win in season 2 in hopes they’ll stop beating straw men in every thread on every forum.
Cmon man, you’re giving them too little credit.
They had to overcome that massive overstacking by JQ. Those 20 SoX and 15 XPK guys that transferred over are like 300x the size of BG’s oceanic force. You need 5 100-man russian guilds to combat those numbers, but BG only recruited 3!
It’s an overflow like any other. You should be able to join on friends. Not that that’s 100% perfect, but it does mean that groups, particularly smaller groups, are more likely to get on the same server.
Incorrect.
EotM functions like the mini-games. You get placed in a random overflow and you can not join on your group mates.
I have a feeling this is going to be another one of those updates that are great conceptually but executed poorly.
There is no group or guild queuing. EotM is also shared across all tiers meaning that all blue servers will be paired together on one team, same for green and red. It’s going to be next to impossible to get into the same overflow as your friend. Also while there are multiple overflows of eotm, there is no way to specify which one you want to join.
Basically you’re going in solo everytime with a group of disorganized strangers. Even if you pull together and get organized, if you dc there’s no way to get back.
Stationary scouting is really, really kittening stupid.
Anything that requires you to stand in one location staring out into empty space for hours upon hours needs to burn in video game hell. This genre did away with spawn camping 10 years because it was bad design. Yet here we are with stationary scouting which is basically the same concept expect you don’t get phat loots when the enemy finally shows up.
But stationary scouting is absolutely vital to the PPT meta. As is turtling behind massive amounts of siege, see screenshot below.
Until playing for PPT becomes fun, it’s simply not worth doing.
Good guy. His trolling always made me laugh. Condolences to his family and the IRON community.
Congrats!
Now get back in WvW, I need loot bags!
It uses the same system as the mini-games.
There is no way for you to queue with your guildmates or your friends for that matter. If you all click join at the same time, most of you will get in the same EotM but not all of you.
If you wish to run as a guild, you’ll still need to go to regular BLs.
Hey now! Share the love!
At some point I’d like to face a server not running 60+ man blobs on every map.
We need to define hard content.
Hard content is content that is made to challenge the players skill to the highest level. The player should be required to have nearly flawless execution of their skills and a thorough understanding of their class in order to pass here said content. Liadri, Lupi and Alphrad are examples of excellent hard content.
The wurm is not hard content. There is nothing challenging in running bombs, running toxins, or standing next to an exploding abomination. The challenge in the wurm encounter stems entirely from trying to organize a collection of 150 random players. Not only is it not hard content, it’s not even video game content. This is kind of challenge that you would find in a college course for business management.
This kind of content, non-video game related content does not belong in a video game.
I think I’d recommend Ele
Necro’s big deficiency is in its movement speed. You need to pair with a class that can run down opponents and slow them down, War or Ele would fit this role. I think I’d prefer an Ele simply because they can drop a Fiery GS which the necro could pickup and use to escape most fights if you get outnumbered.
I have to respectfully disagree with the idea that “World Firsts” breed an overall toxic environment for the community and the game. I like that it breeds competition and focus, as well as coming together for strategy and tactics.
As one of the commanders for the Blackgate effort on the wurms, it was exciting to rush against TTS, Desolation and Far Shiverpeaks in attempting this kill. I won’t deny that when I (we) saw that Deso had gotten the kill that it saddened us, but at the same time I was happy and grateful that they did because they showed that, 1) It can be done, and 2) It can be done different ways.
Desolation did a great job. End of story. They deserve the praise and the accolades for defeating an extremely tough encounter.
I can tell you that Blackgate still hasn’t given up, though.
With all due respect, you proved the guy’s point.
This thread is suppose to be congratulating Deso for a successful wurm kill. Yet a quarter of the posts are Blackgate players talking about Blackgate. You don’t get much more elitest than that.
