As long as my character is constantly progressing while I’m having fun, I don’t care if I ever hit the level cap. That’s what made original EQ so amazing is that your character never stopped progressing.
Unfortunately, this game kind of limits the ways in which your character can progress. Once you make 80, you can only progress 15 minutes a day though the dailies and 1 day a week for guild missions. Visual progression was something that was talked about back in the day but I just don’t see it here in GW2.
My biggest issue is the cost to play.
Blackgate is sitting on a tier 3 keep in SoR bay, it’s fully sieged and upgraded. Is it possible for SoR to take it? Sure it is.
If we throw enough alphas, omegas, trebs and bodies (repair bills) at it eventually we could possibly take it but what’s the point?
It takes 20gp to take a fully siege t3 keep, are we going to get 20gp back for taking it? kitten no, not even close. In the end taking the keep would affect nothing and we’d be out 20gp.
I’ve spent about 85gp this week in upgrades, siege and repair bills. Have I gotten that back? kitten no, not even close.
Right now fighting for my server just gets me a bigger and bigger gold loss that is not being replenished. It’s like I’m paying a kitten kitten subscription fee to lose.
The questions:
2. Where did SoR go?
SoR plays map politics well, hence the reason they are able to hang in a 3 server match. In a 2 server match, there are no map politics and BG just whips our kitten . Our militia is demoralized, we’re struggling to queue 1 map during off hours, they’re queuing all four.
The only match up that matters is your 1v1 against JQ in week 5.
If you win, you win the league. Even if SoR and JQ double team you in week 7 and force you to finish last, you’d still win the league with 31 points vs 29 points for JQ.
If you lose, you’re going to finish second. After this whole fiasco there is no way that SoR/JQ does not double team you in week 7. You guys are good but you’re not good enough to stop 160 players on every map.
Week 5 is the deciding week.
If BG wins, they clinch the league. There’s no way for them to not win the league at that point.
If JQ wins, it will come down to week 7 and SoR will play kingmaker. JQ will win the league in this scenario.
Edit: It’s quite funny that Sea of Sorrows actually gets to decide the winner of the league. If they choose to focus BG or JQ solely in week 5, the other server will almost certainly win the league.

Since there is a reward for winning, yes there does need to be a winner. Unless they give the reward to both servers, which is an option.
I’d bet every gold I have on this. There is no way their going to institute a tie-breaker, the amount of anger and forum rage that would come would be unimaginable.
They’ll just give the rewards to both servers.
The problem is in snowballing. You said it yourself, once one server gets an advantage it’s nearly impossible for the other servers to catch back up. Dev team acknowledges this is an issue and it’s trying to work on a solution through the collaborative development thread.
But try to remember it’s just a game. If you’re not having fun, take a break. The sPvP in this game is quite an enjoyable change of pace from the WvW scene. I’m sure there are those players on your server and the other servers that will harass you, tell you that you’re bad, or call you a quitter for taking a break. You can either ignore them or report them, bullying isn’t tolerated around here.
How lame do you have to be to chase someone for 5 minutes with 7 people?

I appreciate the concern but its unnecessary. The same dedicated core that’s been fighting you since T2 is still here, we’re just playing less.
In the past Rallians and Beastgaters were putting in the same amount of hours everyday. The time being in the 6-8 hour range. Right now our guys are only putting in 2 hours a night so it appears like we’re losing people but we’re not. Similar to your guys playing 12 hours a day so it gives the appearance you have more than what you do.
I’ll worry if we no show in the week 7 match but WvW was never intended to be a 1v1 so there’s really no concern on our end about the poor attendance.

Never been one to care about score. Winning Gold League would have been cool but it is what it is. Am happy to see BG recruit more players, more people to kill is never a bad thing. Little disappointed to see some of my server mates rage quit but having the outnumbered buff is awesome. Roaming with impunity !!!
I dont think your telling the truth, we wouldnt ban people randomly as your suggesting. We do minute bans on some people for lols. But you havent given your reason which could be why.

I’m up for putting in 8-10 hour shifts when there’s a chance we can win or there’s a chance we can make you or JQ rage very angrily on the forums. Unfortunately, neither of those things are going to happen because you’re going to win and you’ll be very happy about it.
Stuff like scouting, siegeing, and walking yaks is really lame. I don’t like doing those things and can’t imagine there are very many players that do. People do those activities when they believe doing so will give their server the opportunity to win. But again, we can’t win, so there’s no reason to do those things.
If you want to call me a quitter or fairweather, it really doesn’t bother me. I’d much rather be in my shoes doing something else than being one of your scouts doing 12 hour shifts scouting a tower for an enemy that isn’t there.
Out of curiosity, what is SoR’s official stance on their uncharacteristically low PPT during NA and OCX/SEA. (Your OCX/SEA, btw, was sharing almost half the pie chart with BG last week by 7 AM PST, or thereabouts.)

Just to add one more thought. I think all this grindy content burns goodwill.
My non-scientific anecdotal evidence suggests that when people quit the game because the goodwill is gone they really end up hating the game. The amount of venom I’ve heard from friends who left the game is unbelievable.
Most of the venom I hear coming from former players has to do with all the anti-player patches they have pushed out to feed the cash shop.
Time gating, temporary content, vet mobs added to DEs that don’t drop loot, and now finishers in PvE. None of these features are actually good for the game, they’re just good for the cash shop.
Of course you couple all of that with the stuff they refuse to add because it doesn’t generate cash shop, such as precursor scavenger hunt, multi specs, more weapon archtypes, different spvp map types, and a continuation of the original story.
Honestly, it’s really hard NOT to hate ArenaNet.

How the virtual table is looking as we approach week 3
Actually, after seeing how SOR fared this week against BG, it can quite conclusively put the matches of BGvsSORvsrandom kitten points for BG and 3 for SOR. Thereby bringing confirmed points as follows:
BG: 25
JQ: 16
SOR: 17Undecided points as potentially:
BG: 3-5
JQ: 6-10
SOR: 3-5 (likely 3)The undecided matches being those of BGvsJQvsrandom and SORvsJQvsrandom.
In week 5, IF BG gets 1st against JQ, the result of week 7 will be a non issue, and BG will walk away with Number One.
Not that it matters but if SoR can’t beat JQ or BG at least once, TC will actually tie for 3rd.
Sounds like a good change to me. Now lets up those dungeon and dynamic event rewards just a small bit.

Pages 13-32 all look the same. Just pick one and copy it 20 times.
From my experience, Eles have 2 reliable builds for dealing with thief. They can run the full burst S/D build and pray they down the thief before they get downed. They can also run a bunker focus build and win through control.
Unfortunately both of these builds aren’t very good outside of 1v1 situations so the odds of you finding an ele that actually runs one is low.
An 80 man force from Server A that has to spawn across the map will almost never be able to defeat an 80 man force from Server B that can spawn right in the keep. You need a 3rd server to come in and help assist Server A in flipping the keep back to paper.
It’s good strategy and it’s something that happens in T1 NA multiple times over the course of one day.

A vast majority of the players I bump in to turn and run immediately. It’s so frustrating when you’re roaming with 2 people and there are 5 JQ running from you on sight. Good fight is a good fight, win or lose.

have been constantly bumped to the front page for months now, and remain bumped even after the leagues started and many of your server have complained about the queues.
If you know already that there’s a wonky queue system, adding more numbers and recruiting more would certain exacerbate the problem no?
I actually have to come to the defense of my server mate on this one. Every recruitment post made by Sanctum of Rall has been directed at off-hours players.
As an off-hours player myself, I will tell you that I deal with no queues. There’s still plenty of room on SoR for off-hours players. There are always at least 2 maps that have no queues and the ones with queues (home bl/eb) are always under 5 minutes.
As he says, we’ve deflected almost every NA guild that has approached us about transferring here but we’ve been unable to stop fairweather players from moving to our server. His guild, like of most of our NA guilds, are being punished for playing good. It’s a terrible system…
Edge of the Mists is a step in the right direction but I was thinking more a long the lines of 20 unique maps. Some built for zerging, some for small group , some for roaming but all impacting the score.
The end goal for WvW shouldn’t be 24 servers. There should only be 3 servers and if WvW needs 20 maps to compensate for all those players so be it.
Thieves job to pick off stragglers. Stay with the pack and it won’t be an issue.
Those are called dreams, we all have them while we sleep. They’re not real, you should have noticed that when you saw the ranger standing there. Rangers don’t exist in WvW .

WoW adapted a similar design for their PvE zones and it worked wonders for them. Sounds like a great idea to me.
I plan on moving my 2nd account into silver league. My only fear is having no one to play with as I’m an off hours player.

Teq doesn’t require player “skill”, it just requires logistics.
It requires an amount of effort that most players aren’t willing to make.
Agreed, there comes a point where the amount of coordination and preparation required to best an encounter becomes simply too great for a video game. Karka Queen, Teq and TA Aether all cross that point for me.
I’m all for upping the rewards from the harder content but don’t see it changing much in the long run. The price of precursors would just get more expensive and the cost of gems would go up. Ultimately putting you right back where you started.
DAoC could have 500+ player fights at keeps with no lag.
Bullkitten it’s not their fault, why could a game made 12 years ago be lag free but not a game made a year ago?
So, the existence of waypoints causes you to skip the intervening terrain. Is it that you don’t want to use them but do anyway because they’re there? You can’t just choose not to use them? Is it because you want to cross the intervening space but don’t want to travel at walking speed (hence mounts)? I’m trying to understand the thought process, because I totally have no problem ignoring waypoints to travel around on foot -- when that’s what i want to do, and using waypoints when I want speed (e.g., for things like Guild Trek, because the time limits given don’t allow for taking the long route).

All the things listed by the OP could be avoided just by choosing not to do them. Like to experience the world, enjoy the scenery, feel the world? Just dont use the waypoints. Want to craft only in a crafting station and to be able to buy / sell only at BLTC at a major city? Well, do that.
I just dont see how the game forces you to do those things. You can actually make those choices yourself to make the game more fun to you.
I agree with both of these gentlemen. I take offense to people that want convenience removed almost as much as I take offense to people asking for more difficult content.
The game is what you make it. If you don’t like the conveniences, don’t use them. You know that....
What your essentially asking for is the conveniences to be taken away from other players and thus forcing them to play your way. That’s a rude and selfish attitude, not one that should be taken with any grain of salt.
Asking for high quality PvE updates every 2 weeks may be a greedy, I will agree with you there.
Asking for the lag to be removed from WvW is not greedy. Why could games in the early 2000s have 500+ people in one area and not lag yet here we are 10 years later and it’s like we’ve gone backwards.

The Meta Achievement needs to be lowered to 10/19 because as you put it, there are a lot of specialists in WvW.
I just don’t really see this lack of defense in the NA bracket.
Even in last week’s blowout between SoR, SoS and SBI, there was quite a large amount of defense being played. SoS and SBI were constantly rallying to defend the small amount of terrority they had against overwhelming numbers. No matter how many times we killed them, they continued to defend.

Do them with 2 or 3 underleveled people naked, that would be a challenge.
Here’s my issue that I take with people that ‘want’ more difficult content. There’s already tons of difficult content if you just use your imagination.
Leveling too easy? Different build, less gear, don’t use certain skills.
Dungeons too easy? Different build, less gear, less people, lower level.
World bosses too easy? Face tank in no gear, stand in circles.
You can make the game more difficult on your own. You do not need development time.
But I know none of you will take my suggestions to heart because you dont really want more difficult content. What you want is exclusive content.
OP said it himself when he pointed out that everyone has legendaries. He’s legitimately bothered by others having the best items in game because they should only be for him and other ‘good’ players like him.
It’s a terrible primal attitude that plagues this game. Only the best, most coolest items should be for the ‘good’ players, kitten everyone else.
