Sanctum of Rall
My hope is they lock the tiers and TC gets to play against BG and JQ for the rest of eternity.
Better you than us.
You can be a part of the solution.
When Edge of the Mists comes, refuse to take part in the PPT meta. If your opponent has you severely outnumbered, do not go to any of the borderlands. Make them sit there with their +695 cap with nothing to do. Let them zerg the warg for a week while the two smaller servers enjoy even man fights in the mists.
44 warriors, 11 guardians, 2 eles, 2 necros, 1 mes
Ideal group comp.....
I believe the main problem is that it creates a TERRIBLE first impression of the game for anybody who begins with a human character. (Which is the plurality choice.) Those champ train folks can get rather nasty in map chat.
I agree with this but I want to make one point.
Not everyone wants to invest large amounts of mental brain power every time they sit down to play. When you come home from work exhausted there is nothing more relaxing than sitting down on the computer, cracking a beer, and auto attacking to victory.
So while I agree that Queensdale may not be a good location for a champ train, the game needs a champ train because every patch seems to remove more and more easy and enjoyable content from the game.
It’s only a grind if you don’t enjoy doing it.
If you don’t enjoy doing it than you shouldn’t be doing it.
No one should be grinding.
Edge of the Mists is the single best update they have made to date, let me give you an example:
Blackgate vs Sanctum of Rall vs Maguuma
SoR/Mag know they can’t compete with BG for overall PPT so they won’t even try. Their entire playerbases will move into Edge of the Mists. SoR outnumbers Mag so SoR will occupy EotM 1-4 while Mag occupies EotM 1-2.
So you will have this situation:
EotM 1-2 - 40v40v40
EotM 3-4 - 40v40v0
EotM 5-10 and 4 regular maps - Blackgate vs Nobody
There’s no way to queue directly into different overflows of the mist. So it’s not like Blackgate players will be able to queue for EotM 1-4. They will have their choice of playing on 4 empty regular maps or an empty EotM map.
Literally 80% of Blackgate’s playerbase will not even have 1 enemy player to fight against. Their maps will be completely devoid of enemy players. They will have to transfer if they want to fight against other players again.
It’s a great kittening update.
Here’s the thing:
Right now when one server has a massive advantage over the other two, the two smaller just give up. Once EotM hits, they will just move to the Edge.
You’re going to have situation where Huge Server is ticking at +695 while the two smaller servers are happily playing in the Edge with even numbers since the cap of players on EotM is smaller than a normal map.
This update is going to crush overpopulated, stacked server because their playerbase will have literally nothing to do besides sit on the 4 regular maps with no opponents in sight.
Guest to Blackgate.
I’m an off-hours player as well, found that I could do pretty much any event during that time by guesting.
This game may not be for you.
It’s not really designed for people that are looking to set goals and achieve them.
Still enjoying the game here because I don’t set goals for myself. Log on today and just do whatever pops into my head without a care for what the game brings tomorrow.
If you ask me, people spend way too much time ’thinking’ in video games. Remember when you were just a kid and you could play a game just for the sake of playing and the enjoyment? Why do you have to set goals for yourself like this is the real world and you’re on a time budget?
If that’s your style of play, god bless you man but that’s not a good attitude to have in video games seeing as their all pointless beyond enjoyment anyway. Maybe you should consider setting some real life goals for yourself instead.
We did not “win” anything.
A month of bad match ups and karma trains is a huge loss.
I have never seen a game so out of touch to the player base.Maybe we make a set of real wvw servers without seasons, that also show player names and kill counts in zones. If you take an empty keep you get nothing.
Hire this guy, he gets it.
I would happily pay 5000 gems for a flag finisher with the word ’buygate’ on it and a giant thumbs down.
The problems with the temples are a bit deeper than just a lack of people.
Dwayna and Melandru bug out constantly.
Lyssa and Balthazar can take 45-60 minutes depending on how high they scale up.
Grenth can fail because of one inexperienced player.
To be fair, WvW is P2W. You can use gold to buy people and golems.
It’s business.
Unlike GW1 which was a truly unique and beautiful game, this game is very similar to every other of it’s genre on the market. While this game beats all it’s competition on the current market, it probably won’t beat future releases. Wildstar and EverQuest Next are taking the best features from this game and launching with a engine not nearly as restrictive.
The game is on the descent and is only going to bleed more players as time passes. They understand that and that’s why they’re trying to make as much money as they can now. Any major update that the players want is not going to happen. They’d never recoup their investment back.
It’s not anyone’s fault, it’s just how this genre operates these days. MMOs get about a one year life cycle where they try to make as much money as possible before shoveling up and going on life support.
Since the EU servers feel obligated to troll the NA T1 threads with ’Nobody cares’, allow me to return the gesture.
Nobody cares!
Mine, is my second highest rated post:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Random-Acts-of-Kindness/first#post2204093My first highest rated post is this one LOL:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/List-Of-Things-We-Want-In-Gemstore/first#post2218866Trog sent me something that time. Was pleasantly surprised.
LoL
He sent me something too. I felt bad because my post was just a troll
No, it’s not.
If you want hard content, make your own. Take off some gear, run a sub-optimal build, play a class that isn’t a warrior or guardian.
When you barrage an inexperienced player with difficult content, you’re just going to make him quit. Look at how many people refuse to dungeons and temples, that’s a difficulty issue.
i hope you don’t honestly think this is a good suggestion.
“oh the content is too easy for you? Have you ever thought about tying your hand behind you back? Playing with your eyes closed? Unplugging your keyboard? Surely that will be fun wont it?”
Obviously i’m exaggerating, but putting it on the player to artificially increase the difficulty is a terrible suggestion. What’s the point of working hard for good gear to then just take it off so i can enjoy content?
I’m sorry, my response came out a bit more crude than I had intended. A little angered with the poster above me who believes it’s okay to subject an inexperienced player to content tuned for a fully ascended, max level player.
The point I was trying to make is that it would be better for a max level player to undress to get a challenge in a lower level zone than to force a new player to deal with content scaled to end game. My mistake.
No, it’s not.

It’s not that people aren’t willing to work, its that there are higher paying jobs out there that require less effort.
In a best case scenario for Teq it still takes 10 minutes of prep and 20 minutes of execution to get your 2 rare reward. Meanwhile you can show up at Fire Ele. throw in 2 autos and get 2 rares.
30 minutes or 15 seconds for the same reward? Most will choose the 15 seconds.
I’m with you OP.
Will only do dungeons with my friends now, people that I can trust and count on. Won’t even do them with half the people in my guild. There’s just so many kittens everywhere. Outside of adjusting dungeon scaling, I’m not sure there’s anything ANdy can do about it.
Not entirely sure why you’re preaching to me but okay.
TC put in a great effort this week and pulled out 3rd place. You guys deserve a pat on the back for your effort and you’ve been getting it from SoR players.
But in regards to fighting 60 with 35 being fun, it’s not fun at least not to me. I actually find it excruciating and boring to fight a battle that I know I am going to lose 10 times out of 10.
tell SoR to step up then because all i am seeing from them is excuses and no fight. Blobbing isn’t enough SoR.
The post above this one is a perfect example. GG
No thanks.
I’m tired of trying to fight 60 with 35. All I get for my effort is repair bills.
The correct answer is “all of them” because the game is perfectly balanced.
Anet when balancing: “A level 80 staff ele should be able to beat a level 20 warrior… Ok, job well done, that seems balanced”
I’m not entirely sure a staff ele in full ascended could beat a lvl 20 warrior……or a lvl 20 anything else for that matter.
Scarlet and Trahearne will fall madly in love and live happily ever after.
Welcome to T2 Choo and sor lmao, failsauce
Thanks, friend.
Congrats on your win this week!
Indo!
Lol I like the T1 servers will try to buy them! Only one T1 server apparently has enough gold to do that en masse.
No, just no. Indo may be the worst commander of the year.
I like the change tho I do have a concern.
The only reason I play my ele right now is because it has all my wxp, once ranks become account bound I will play only my warrior, along with probably everyone else.
Class disparity in WvW is only going to get worse.
TC’s been going hard this week, a lot of dedication and they want it more.
They deserve 3rd place, hopefully we rally for next season.
Go to BG or JQ if you’re looking for people to play with.
SoR/SoS have some oceanics but you’ll be outnumbered vs the other two.
Please stop calling them updates, they are downdates.
Every 2 weeks the core game gets worse.
I absolutely HATE the riddle/puzzle part of dungeons and fractals.
I’m with you brother.
These dungeons are too complicated for me. I just want to hack on bad guys, sigh why does every dungeon have to have some sort of puzzle?
Do whatever you enjoy. Ten hours at a slower pace but having fun is better than one hour of ultra grind and quitting out of boredom.
RG was great at large group combat but if you isolated their members into 2s or 3s they seemed lost.
I’ve always liked KnT from BG. One of their originals, always showed up to fight every week even in the down moments and a respectable guild on the forums. Bunch of good guys over there.
There’s no way the rewards will be that good.
You’ll get a finisher, a keg of wxp, and maybe 50 badges of honor.
So are things are as bad as they look for SoR (TW disbanded, IRON left, behind TC in score), or is this just blatant 2v1 when they are having a bad week?
TW didn’t disband. Lost some members and are not playing every night like they used to. Tbh I couldn’t care less about being behind TC. We went months and months being outmanned during ocx/sea/eu. It’s nothing new.
I just hope finally the T1 servers stop with the “arms race” and try to even out the other Tiers before season 2 starts.
Maybe it’s just bad wording, but you are talking like a T2 server there.
TC is weaker than they’ve been in months, SoR must be looking a lot different these days if they can’t catch up.
Morale is really low on SoR right now. BG faced a similar problem just before leagues begun and that’s why everyone thought BG were the underdogs.
I wouldn’t really say it’s a morale issue. People are just leaving the game altogether due to boredom and the lack of caring for this game mode by ANet. One can only do the same thing night in and night out for so long until it starts to become a chore.
I played a terrible game this last weekend that I can’t name due to an NDA. That just shows the desperation that many are starting to come to on this game.
Burl is spot on, it’s boredom.
WvW is really boring. It’s easy to look past it’s flaws when you’re winning because the fun is in winning. But once you look at it from the perspective of a server that’s outnumbered on every map almost every hour of the day, it’s really kittening lame.
You either turtle in your towers with 25 arrow carts or you die over and over again. Neither one of those options is even remotely fun.
I used to always complain about TC turtling/no showing versus us but now I understand. Let me apologize to every TC player I’ve ever talked kitten to, you were just doing what you had to.
Honestly, I’d rather bang my head against a wall than play against BG or JQ at least that way I wouldn’t be so bored.
You either win or lose. BG has won Gold League, that’s all that matters.
The rewards will be fairly large, you have to think about it from the perspective of ArenaNet.
By giving a large reward to the winners, they will induce more people to transfer to the winning servers. More transfers = more money.
Of course this will lead to the problem of having an already unbalanced WvW turn even more unbalanced.
So about 2-4 weeks before the start of Season 2 they will come up with some sort of incentive for playing on outnumbered servers. Hitting the people that just transferred to winners again for transfer fees back to smaller servers. More transfers = more money.
The AoE loot feature only works on bags you have line-of-sight on. Sometimes the champ chest gets stuck in a rock or wall and you can’t get it. I’ve had it happen a few times at Maw. Sucks but it’s very rare.
Lol this thread brings back memories.
Had a friend pickup GW2, walked into WvW at lvl 2, got 2 shot by a theif, alt+f4d, uninstalled, put the game away and has never played again. Grand total of about 18 minutes of play time.
Just let him get back up, you’re going to immediately down him again anyway.
I think the leagues have been a success.
SoR, TC, FA, DB have all shrunk since the announcement of leagues two and a half months ago meanwhile SBI, EB, HoD, FC have grown in size. The bottom is growing stronger meanwhile the top is getting weaker. This is a step in the right direction.
I know SoR is losing a few guilds once the leagues end in 2 weeks. It’s sad to see many players that I consider friends leave to go elsewhere but it’s probably better for the longevity of the game.
I know emotions are running high on BG right now and rightfully they should. They were the underdog of the big three entering the league and they prevailed. Good for them. But at some point their players are going to realize that the servers they once considered to be competition are not competition anymore. Hopefully some of their vested guilds will take that as a sign to move off and balance the leagues even more.
It’s a slow process and it has its growing pains, but I do think it’s been a success.
I’ve noticed that people only show up to events once there’s a high probability for success.
Take the Temple of Dwayna.
It’s nearly impossible to muster up even 2-3 people to help you do the pre-events because the odds of the temple push flaming out at the Risen Priestess is extremely high. But once you get past the Risen Priestess, people filter in and by the time you engage the Statue itself you now have 50 people.
It’s like this for almost every event in the game. People will only show up to do Arah once you’ve made it past Anchorage, people will show up for Karka Queen once you’ve passed the camps, people will only show up for Eye of Zhaitan once you’ve passed the champ abom, etc.
In a way it makes sense, no one wants to fail and waste their own time. I remember one day trying to Temple of Balthazar with one friend, we simply couldn’t keep up with the events and gave up after 3 hours. The feeling was horrible, I had to take a week off from the game after that.
This game should reward effort, not success rate. That’s why no one does pre-events because you get the same reward at the end for investing no effort. Actually in most cases, your reward is better, since you don’t have the pay the repair bills the poor suckers that did the pre-events had to.
You guys want to hold ArenaNet to quotes taken a year ago or worse yet a manifesto taken five years.
But what if new information comes to light? What if the majority of players like to grind?
You wouldn’t want your doctor or stockbrooker using outdated information. Why should ArenaNet be any different?
So I was in a 1v1 with another Thief. Got him down. Just as the stomp is about to land, he rallies. Throwing rocks at a dog.
After laughing somewhat hysterically for a moment, I realized that I wasn’t laughing because it was funny. I was laughing at the silliness that is GW2 PVP.
What’s your silly rally story of the day?
Lol, been there before.
Glass cannon thief initiates on me taking off 70% of my health (ele). Luckily I had focus equipped and hit the invul skill as he’s heartseeker spamming me. After frantically trying to recover I was finally able to down him. I go to stomp but he literally 3 shots a river drake watching that was at full health. He rallies and heartseeker spans me to death.
SoR has the best devs. Justin and Dral are both awesome.
Sorry bronze league, you can’t have them!
Shrug, I’m happy to see BG winning like this.
Queues aren’t fun to deal with nor are hyper aggressive commanders. We’ve lost both as a result of the league, SoR is in a better place than it was before the start of the league. Significantly smaller but better, in my opinion anyway.
Hopefully a few Blackgate guilds relocate after the end to liven up the leagues a bit for round 2 but I’m not going to cry a tear if they don’t.
Having a blast this week against Mag and TC who are now showing up and fighting us as we don’t massively outnumber them anymore. The PPT from Sunday on has been back and forth, it’s great.
As a bystander with no dog in this fight (frac lvl 26), I have to say that I would thoroughly be upset if I spent money on gems for revive orbs to progress with my fractal level only to be taken away.
One of the problems with ’end game’ here is the lack of desirable commodities.
Everything in the game rewards with you gold or items that will be turned into gold. Outside of Precursors and a few select sigil/runes, there’s really nothing of value that can be bought for gold.
I think the ’end game’ here wouldn’t be as dull if there were more items that could be acquired through play. Armor, Weapon, Back skins that can be purchased with karma currency as opposed to gold.
now you may say: well then why don’t you just use weapons good for spvp in spvp, and weapons good for pve in pve?
well if that’s the direction arenanet moves in, I actually wouldn’t complain. the weapon selection may become narrowed and limited, and of course combat limited. but at least then you’d have a consistent, balanced pvp and the devs would be able to solely focus on trait balance and new trait introduction.
I always assumed that’s how it’s always been.
As an Elementalist, our weapon choices are clearly designed for specific areas of the game. Staff for WvW, Scepter for PvE, Dagger for SPvP. I guess I assumed it was like that for all classes.
Warriors don’t have to use greatswords in PvP.
You can use axes, maces, swords, hammer, rifle or longbow as well.
