Molen Labe Female Human Necro
Devonas Rest – Black Rose Legion -CF4L
Mega server map chat is a load of continuous chatter like a pack of high school kids in the audience of a reality tv show. Topics change faster than a hookers john and are about as useful. What are you doing to draw PVE players into WvW? How are you engaging that massive cluster F to get to the real target audience? What can you do to break past the spam about dungeon runs and the best way to craft ascended gear?
I am not a map spammer I am much more interested in talking to individuals. Now instead of saying hello and knowing I am likely talking to a player from my server there is no telling where the person is from. It is like being on a city street looking for friends from your nearby small town.
I want to run solo with my necro and flip camps but I end up drawing them all to the aoe bomb spot then having to tank all of the damage from the 7 or more NPCS at once. I usually have to kite away after dropping a couple and I don’t want that interruption. Can a necro take a camp in under 30 seconds solo? IF so how?
Eliminating the loss of siege on patch would be the right thing to do!
Legendary defenders are skin flakes off of Chuck Norris’s knuckles.
AHAHAHAHAHAAH VERY soon like hobo sack adjustments?
They are uglier then a steers clipped bag dried on a hot asuran plate. get rid of the hobo sack already.
With the ability to refund traits on the fly out of combat are there specific builds you plan to rotate through? I have beserker / power build gear and condi gear. I could see having a set of gear and trait choices for full condi, fearmancer, full power, a healing setup and maybe a custom build for small group synergy within the guild. So four or five sets of armor and weapons. How many variations do you plan to have at hand or will you stick with a primary build and drive on?
A trap or two? I thought traps were one per map per player lasted an hour or until triggered.
Try learning your community. Back in my day we had to memorize phone numbers to call people we talked to regularly. There are around 90 guilds that play WvW regularly on my server. I know the leaders of over half of them and the symbols for at least a couple dozen. It is call familiarization and memory try using it.
Colt ya got some kind of hidden denial thing going on there? I don’t even see DR on your list of placement. I see you didn’t forget about us in your comments. See you on the field this week.
I would not approve a cap on golems. They are a fun way to shift the dynamics. We have used them in defense as well as the open field. Being on the defensive side wiping a golem rush is very satisfying. Even if it happens on the second or third objective. Opponents become over confident with multiple golems and a batch of ballistas or superior acs do wonders.
I love the idea of hunting a anonymous enemy. You have to spot them, know their weapons, guild, clothing colors. Party them and see if you can get a account name. Friend them and track them from map to map. Spread out and scout them. Maybe they bunker up in a keep and you have to open it up to find them.
In the past month there have been two dagger dagger eles and a char guardian that have been on our guilds hit list as kill on site. They camp and ganked our day players when they were alone. So we hunt them in the evening.
I love siege mastery. I have max siege might, ram and cata mastery. I took an alt into WvW and went to open a tower up. It was soooo slow.
Welcome to BRL on Devonas Rest. I hope that you find the home with us you are looking for and become a engaged member of the guild. As part of our gratitude we bring you cookies.
If you want to have a huge impact on a place that can happen in HoD on Devonas Rest.
We have had great success on Devonas Rest with kYrO being a significant part of that. We have most of our active WvW guilds running in coordination through teamspeak. I know talking to people can be scary. But it isn’t this scary.
p.s. imbiggen for fine print
We have had a good amount of people come to DR during free transfers. I am very glad you have all found a new home and I hope more people will make the move to a fun new home.
BRL ran our morale night last night and had a few more folks join the guild. Come and join us!
I would have preferred to see the free transfers limited to bronze servers only but I see where the other tiers are facing the same problem of fighting for a limited resources and it is fair that they had an opportunity to work on retention and recruiting of the population as well. The key is the limited resource. We only have so many people playing and if you want them on your server you have to set the conditions for them to feel welcome, want to be on your server more and enjoy themselves once they have arrived. That means diversity in play styles, clear and honest communication and a willingness to integrate their best practices. I can’t tell you how many people I interviewed prior to the move and most of them were very keen on avoiding a community the made sunshine promises and blew smoke up there 5th point of contact.
The price was the breaking point but honestly the people that moved had to be in a position where they were willing to move prior to the cost. The cost was just the incentive to make the move.
What metric do you use to differentiate active WvW population from Server PVE population and how will that measurement change based on PVE megaservers?
Will free server transfers be provided to allow for the population to adjust to the new normal with megaservers?
If you want to WP removed then remove it yourself. There is only one permanent one on each map per team. The rest can be destroyed. If you think they break the game take them out. Don’t let your opponent upgrade to that point.
For the people I play with. The guild and server community. The challenge of developing teams and accomplishing things with the team working together.
SO much XCITE for GOM /sarc
Sheltered much?
Don’t complain about the free PVE bags. They show themselves as free harvests. You know that it isn’t some regular WvW player running laps around the blood lust.It takes a couple minutes to spot them then go gank them.
A vibrant community takes effort. The multiple posts reflect a collective effort of many guilds working together to provide a forum for our server community to share that perspective. Victory isn’t guaranteed by the people just as bodies but its likelihood is enhanced by our teamwork, coordination and commitment which are all demonstrated by our recruiting effort, its response and results.
Also here is a hug cheer up.
Don’t get caught on a empty server waiting for something to happen. Move to Devonas tonight.
Get over here to Devonas before free transfers end. Even the sheep are lethal.
Edge of the mist isn’t cutting it for you? Your current server isn’t working out? Make the move to Devonas Rest!
Don’t miss the opportunity to come to Devonas Rest for free. Also… avoid golems at spawn.
Take the plunge and jump on over to RED! They are a good group of folks that make Devonas what it is.
Cookies as requested.
This is it people FREE TRANSFERS are almost over! Get on over to Devonas Rest!
Has it been awhile since you were excited about playing GW2? That won’t be a problem on Devonas Rest!
I agree that Bronze will be a load of fun fighting. I also agree the general server population will have a huge impact on the over all results. With that in mind I say , Unleash the rabid achievement Beaver!
Don’t get stuck on some bloated high tier server. Come to Devonas Rest.
Do you feel lost on your current server? Is there just a overflow of stupidity and poor attitudes? Come to Devonas and don’t feel lost any more.
HoD on Devonas Rest kicks so much kitten even there kitties have ascended gear. Get on over here and get in the fight.
Examples of good stuff to be had, We have collected these from all of the mesmers we stomp.
EvinKuruga,
I have been on Devonas Rest since I began playing close to 2 years ago. There is something to be said for commitment to a home server. Devonas was in 24th back in December and has risen to 20th now. You have fought us recently and have seen what we can do on the field. We are organized and work as a team. Guilds and individuals transferring to DR have enjoyed the time here. Please contact me in game tonight to discuss the opportunity for a new home here on DR.
Ditto to What is said above come to DR! Devonas Rest has a solid WvW focused population. We are minimal drama maximum damage! We work together and play together wether it be a golem rush, keep take, karma train, naked zerg, you name it. There are people on Devonas that will treat you like the family !
I did get a good laugh last night when one of my guildies shouted in teamspeak " Don’t bring a minion to a Lich fight" as he burned down our opponent.
It takes time to integrate new forces, organize leader coordination, styles and enhance a overall force. Numbers make a difference of coverage. Organization makes a difference in effectiveness. We have received some good transfers both individual and guilds. In time there will be an increase in effectiveness.
Hello,
I lead BRL in Devonas Rest and have been commanding in WvW on a necro for most of that time. Free transfers are coming to an end soon and I thought I would share something we have going on over on DR that is relevant to the Necro community. We have a guild leader of SA named Spirit Ritualist that leads a weekly all necro zerg. It is a ton of fun to roll a hoard of minion masters across a map like a plague of locusts devouring all in our path. If you are a free agent or thinking of moving your necro focused play somewhere else we would love to have you roll with the horde.
Good luck to all on the field and hope to see those who would like to join us at our side.
What exactly are you asking? Of course players join forces in WvW. Look to the coordinated play of Devonas Rest.
I second Slingblades recommendation and will tell you to treat those defensive siege experts like gold. Send them siege and funds. Make their job easy and always trust when they call for help.
Dr was in the 24th spot back in December. We had lived through three major exoduses of WvW population. We had climbed to tier five and finished the fall. We rebuilt a foundation of positive game play, coordinated leaders, open communication and improved game play. Together those things created an environment people chose to move to. Trust me when I say we have empathy for servers losing population to transfers. We have survived it and you can to but it took us months to recover.
Agriope,
Welcome to bronze. Hope to face you on the field!
Triston,
Your guild has a solid reputation and as an opponent I know that CoSa can fight. Now it is up to you to maintain and enhance that reputation.
1 & 2 Siege. Before you even log into WvW you need to stock up on siege. I maintain a stock of 100 superior rams, catas, acs. Talk to your guild members about making sup siege for you. Give them the money to buy blueprints and mats.I have two guild catas in inventory and always rebuild them in the upgrades section so all 5 are ready. Trebs and golems should be in your inventory but not in the same numbers. I keep 20 each regular and sup trebs and the stock point for Omegas should be ten. You will also want to have ten each supply traps and stealth traps. As far as other people dropping siege, I have a standard load for my guild members. They always have minimum three of each siege and ten supply and stealth traps. As a commander you will be primarily responsible for offensive siege but you need a capable team around you to allow for a responsive force. If another player is going to throw siege have them call out their name “Thyra has the regular ram drop” so that you don’t get multiple drops. Take the time prior to operations to identify 3 ram masters and 5 cata masters that are running with you. Prioritize them for using siege and make sure they are your operators. Having lvl 5 ram/ cata masters can make a huge difference. Treb and golem use is very situational as stated by an earlier poster.
With all of the above advice in place I finish my siege comments with- it is all about supply. Learn to use the /supplyinfo command often. Know what your team has on you what it is capable of building and always be thinking of the next two places you will get supply. Blue prints and mastery mean nothing without the supply.
3. Calming your peers during a fight – Get into teamspeak or whatever voice comms your server uses. Give commands with even patient concise directives do not blather. Talk to your team about what your intent is. Have patience during the assault. Have a step by step plan for each defense. Your people will hear the confidence in your voice. They will respond and fight harder for you when they know you have a plan and the resources to execute it. Discuss improvements after any very difficult fight and listen to the feedback. Encourage and praise those around you when they do well. It is basic but people will fight for you when they know you are watching them as individuals.
4. Claiming- I intentionally run with a primarily guild force in order to claim locations for the plus 5 supply buff. Supply means momentum. Both in offense and defense, the advantage of the plus 5 buff can be huge. Your guild has to be the largest majority of the force that took an objective in order to claim it on take without waiting for the buff to come down. If that isn’t the case coordinate with your peers and find out who can make the claim. Never let your guild plus 5 supply buff be inactive. A guild can claim one location on each of the 4 maps at the same time.
5. Keep attacks- while undefended – sending 5 person teams to hit a keep while you are in a skirmish across the map can be effective. Having four small teams hitting multiple objectives is better.
Keep attacks while defended- Force your opponent to defend multiple gates / keeps. Force them to come out from the keep to skirmish and work to cut off supply. Take the camps on the entire map, hit a northern tower with a ten man and take the majority of your force to hills / bay. Be patient.
Bronze servers needed free transfers. The games overall population was being depleted by people moving up. We can build guilds, we can build a community. It is A Nets job to sell the game and get people playing. The opportunity for free transfers down allowed for a population shift all of the bronze servers needed.
Devonas also had gains from higher tier servers. The world recruiting thread from Henge of Denravi about " don’t come here" and having a 96 player que on EB is what the lower tiers are for. Come to DR! Come to a lower tier free transfer server and avoid the long waits to play. Enjoy some freedom on a well organized and effective server. Become part of our community and spend more time playing and less time waiting.
What are the “dead times” on your server?
FA is daytime weekdays and it’s awful.
Devonas had a gap in the 6 am to 2 pm window. We have had two key leaders Theodon Warstar and Flint Iron Fist work hard to bring the population together during that window. We had a guild from TC transfer down PF Primal Fury that also has a provided coverage in that window. We could use another 20-40 in that window so we could make larger pushes on the enemy. We have leader teams and population to cover 24 hours it is just a matter of having the population to do more in the AM. I have been very proud and appreciative of the efforts of the Devonas Rest WvW faithful that are fighting in that window and keeping our maps solid, sieged and upgraded. The last three weeks our opponents have made a persistent push every day to take advantage of the day shift and we have held firm. If you are part of the morning crew grab a cup of coffee, make the move to DR and join our team in the fight. I can’t speak highly enough of our day crew!
