Devonas Rest – Black Rose Legion -CF4L
Molen Labe if you please
Haven’t found a guide yet. I wouldn’t make decorations unless you really want them or need them to level up. I am working scribe so we can get WvW upgrades.
Yes Yes as a condi necro the changes to golem rush are hideous. I have jack for direct damage and the golem was my siege killer when clearing arrow carts.
If zerg = random uncoordinated lacking communication sigil huggers… Then no.
We have coordinated units not zergs more often then not. When you see more then 10 of any one tag they are likely in teamspeak and they are coordinated with other guilds across the server. That is the value of the DR community. We work as a team to achieve our goals of fun and fights. If you choose to come to DR feel free to look me up. Would be glad to help you get to know your new neighbors.
Don’t worry Tib we will be in your back yard soon enough.
Should we send a back pack full of these and tell them to get more productive?
What other Devonas Rest WvW guilds have you talked to?
GoM may have significant population. SO what. Adapt. Look for other opportunities. Find weakness. Kitten their own people are telling you they don’t care. Pride and vanity make fine targets. Glicko random rating blah blah blah. Until they break the rating and climb through a insurmountable level of points then they can stay here and run with DR. No different then a self righteous demanding teenager you can move along when you push enough to get there.
OP- How long have you been on our server? DO you know where we have come from? GoM is nothing but a target rich environment.
Come to EOTM and get your free bottle of
Make a continent to battle in instead of of the small maps. Place everyone in this single large world. Allow for each guild to have a home castle. Set the matches to a month or quarter and allow for long term alliances to form between guilds. There will be early alliances and small / large forces developed off of the current guilds and servers but there will be a natural disruption because of the scale of the fight that will draw people into maybe (random number) 5 major divisions. I mean I don’t want things to go so slow that I have to raise crops and feed the army and wait for spring to fight but I would love to see something epic where you had to control deep infiltration teams ( roamers and scouts) that had made it three of four zones into enemy territory to kill reinforcements, cut off supply and report on masses of enemy at X location. Then the epic fights for a sieged location where people traveled form a entire region to fight.
I would endorse reduce reverse tier transfers. The server that has fallen or been crushed down to tier 8 needs a hand in refitting and reinforcing their population. We experienced multiple exodus’s off of Devonas Rest and ended up in 24th place. We rebuilt the server from the remnant of dedicated players. I wouldn’t trade the people we have on server for any other. Win or lose they have fought by our side, together to climb out of the hole. We don’t need to be number one or the ultimate victor in tier one to enjoy the game. The value in our game play comes from the coordination and teamwork within the community. Sucking the lower tiers up into a higher tier would be just like the mega server with a bunch of people you don’t know filling the map and reducing the effectiveness of the force. Lower cost transfers allow for a new force to move and integrate into the community. If you pull the trigger on a merge there will be major disruption and the elimination of the value of a core community.
You can buy the gems with in game gold. It is the cost of a pizza. You want to wait for it and work within the community I commend you. You don’t have the patience or tenacity and just want it now then you will be better off moving.
Leave SOR and find a server that can make the map completion happen. Your loyalty to a ghost ship is tied only to the WvW aspect. If you choose not to move on then work to become involved with the remnent of your wvw population. When we have community members come on looking for map completion it becomes a priority so that we can show solidarity and help them make it past a unfamiliar challenge.
BRL Black Rose Legion is one of the primary guild focused on WvW on Devonas Rest. We have a steady population of committed players that love to fight and roll together across our map and our opponents!
Our server website is devonasrest.org
Our guild website is blackroselegion.guildlaunch.com
We use teamspeak and work in coordination with the other primary WvW guilds on Devonas to make the server a success.
Keep Golems the same. It takes practice and coordination to make them effective. If anything cap the map at 20 omegas.
Bump, lump and meh. The Kitten hobo sacks need to go. We keep talking but they never seem to understand.

Megaserver map location solution- a method
Transporters- Specific task is to ferry in forces. These players will function as a conduit for transportation of organized forces to the correct map.
Process- Transporters are partied prior to event beginning. They are also identified and the list of their names is published for the event. Party of five transporters enter the event, assemble on map then separate into individuals. From that point forward everyone processes through the transporters by joining party, moving to map and dropping party as fast as possible.
Refinements could include setting the transporters as commanders, having each particular class process through a particular transporter, establishing a rally point and a standard party to be formed after transportation has been completed.
End state – All participants in the community / guild / multi guild event in voice comms. Published transporters listing and methods of organizing who uses which transporters on the server website under the scheduled event. Transporters execute map jump then sigil up and take proper physical positions. Remaining force processes onto map and reform for action.
This is a method. It shouldn’t be that hard but a bit of planning and organization should allow for a community to adapt to the megaserver framework. If the living story is popping every 20 minutes then work the drill 6 times in a row and make refinements each time. After the 6th time take a break and discuss changes then do it again and see if that resolves the previous challenges.
Enjoyed the tournament from Devonas as well. Cheers to all those on the field!
Jeknar There is no intent to impress only saying we had fun. It is also a simple example of organization has a place in EOTM just as in WvW. If you can’t accomplish something alone then make friends and coordinate. We were derided for kicking puppies last night because we did defense. That was almost as fun as stalling the keep assaults themselves. As a guild we have gone in EOTM twice since its release. The first time was mess as the total lack of cross server communication and familiarity sucked. Last night we worked together with our own force and had some good times. It wasn’t epic. We aren’t some vanguard of amazing skill just had fun without getting face rolled by larger numbers. We are used to playing as underdogs so no big change.
You had to have a community to lose a community and if it was nothing more then a random bunch of folks ya shouted at in LA then that wasn’t much of a community. Do you have known WvW focused guilds? Do you have a server public website? Do you have scheduled events for people to rally around as a draw? Do you work public affairs and marketing to draw population to you server? Do you have specific people focused on maintaining retention of your WvW players through morale activities , competitions, random drawings and special fighting events? Is there any kind of commemorative activity on your server that gives people a reason to be together? What about celebrations? Things like the guild made 500 on the roster, guilds 2 years anniversary, celebrate a players world completion and share the fun with the server. Is there a public server teamspeak that is used to make bonds with the people in the game? Do you maintain a culture of respect and inclusion so that folks will want to come back into the game and spend time running with you?
Mega servers created another layer of anonymity. They reduced the feeling of us vs them. They do provide a opportunity for you to demonstrate the value of your server. To show through actions to others that you have a vibrant community. You as a individual have to build that community. It doesn’t spring into existence. It doesn’t happen by magic. It takes work. Sometimes things fail and you have to stir the creative bucket and try again. Don’t try to make it happen all by yourself. You have to sell community as a concept to server leadership and get their buy in. Then work daily to build the community.
Then you will have something worth fighting for. You are fighting in WvW to keep those people engaged and driven toward fun and victory. You are fighting in EOTM to give them opportunity for loot and fun times. You are fighting to give them memories because PPT and fights and trolling and ganking are easily forgotten but the community and the people and the time spent together are the value in the game.

OP what server are you running on? The environment you are trying to make this work on can have a huge impact. The other thing that really made roaming a success for me on new builds was to have a pair of friends that were demonstrators. We would all go into a custom arena and they would cycle through their best killing combinations and sequences until I could easily recognize them and understand what was happening. What the combo effects they were working, what impact it had, why it was timed as it was. One would work kite and survival while the other would lay on the attack and then review the process. They would switch and then I would cycle in and use the build or skill sequence / combinations / methods until I was able to use them effectively to survive or kill. Once you have your concepts down go out into the wild and fight. When something is tearing you up repeatedly find a friend to use that class and method and repeat the drill and skill combo routine until you can recognize and defeat that tactic. This all works better if you have a spectator to critic your habits and give tips other then the person you are training with.
Took the guild into EOTM last night with about 20 of us we had a blast. We were blue and didn’t have huge numbers but Green didn’t roll over us at all.
Mobility, infiltration, variation in maneuver these are the way you create squirters to bypass spawn campers. Use the d****d side doors. Leave map for 15 minutes and leave them to loose interest. Rally the whole map lead them on a goose chase and have a 5-10 man force work back cap.
I saw that they nerfed the champ trains and just laughed and laughed.
Get in the fight on DR folks!
1.) The tower walls are too low and a single elementalist can burn your siege down.
Jump out and kill him. It is called defense not invulnerability. Also siege placement is key.
2.) You need to have people sit around and do nothing while waiting for an attack.
People can patrol and rotate positions so that they are not the only ones at an objective.
3.) A multi-siege attack will blast through walls and doors before people can move to defend.
Yes if you are out of position and not prepared to repell the multiple siege attack. This happens even faster if you haven’t worked to upgrade your locations.
4.) Its actually easier to shoot the guy on the wall than it is for him to shoot the guy on the ground.
5.) Mesmers porting people in.
Sweep, stealth traps, know your terrain and positions for hidden mesmers.
6.) Once the fortifications are built your supply sits there waiting to be grabbed by the next zerg. (Thanks for working so hard to give us supply!)
Expend the supply on siege during the fight, repairs during the fight. Ensure you run a built that is robust enough to endure multiple pushes and the AOE that is poured on the wall / door
7.) When you play defense and defense only the other maps come to you. (They are not colluding and attacking you…they are bored of not seeing anyone on their map.)
True to a point
8.) Siege decays rapidly.
It decays slower now and there is a tool to manage the refreshing of siege if you are conscientious enough to use it.
9.) Defense siege costs a bunch …each wall..the door…the upgrades…all to be lost in a 5 minute attack.
The cost buys you time to kill the opponents momentum.
10.) You need to deal with getting in your own keep before you can start to defend. ?? If it is yours then why are you “ dealing with getting in” or are you saying after you lose it and you have to recover it.
11.) Bad money after good syndrome…you just dumped several gold into a garrison and you’ll be kitten ed if they can have it!…even if it means losing your entire map! So there!
Yes there is a reason to work from top to bottom on a borderland it is called distance to spawn. With EB same thing except you have to be able to bypass spawn campers to start some momentum.
12.) When they take your towers/keeps/castle how often do they stick around? Usually they don’t…if they do just ignore them for 10 minutes and they leave…now its easy to take back…and you have the spawn point close.
This works unless they have nothing else to do. It also means you don’t have your own objectives.
Defense is effective if you have the numbers expertise and attitude to do it. It isn’t as simple as PVD. It isn’t as fast or shiny or rewarding. The victory in defense comes from having been challenged, tested and overcoming a determined opponent. In the end they must be killed. Repairing walls, using supply traps, using siege to push them off of the attack just forces a opponent to fall back to trebuchets and at that point it is a open field battle unless you have the ability to counter treb. Anticipating enemy siege placement and eliminating it before they do substantial damage to your position is fun. Making all of their efforts vain and watching them run away because they have to get larger numbers to succeed is fun. Taking a fully fortified objective because the opponent isn’t able to pull off a successful defense is fun. It goes both ways and the more challenging the objective is because of the better defense the more fun everyone has.
Or asura hours?
Take the time to talk to us about a new home. DR has the spine to stay in the fight and the drive to push for a victory. Bring your fighting spirit and become part of Devonas Rest!
We have a web based tool that helps us keep track of every locations siege timer. We assign people on a rotation to refresh the siege. Usually two per keep and one for northern and southern towers. Some times we will flash all objectives with the entire force the knock out everything at once and get matching timers across the map. Our tool alerts us when there is a location with siege about to expire. I run three monitors when I play, 1 has the map of objectives, 1 has the game and one has the siege refresh timers and teamspeak.
corrupt boons, signet of spite, epidemic spreading the pain like a boss!
The server website is devonasrest.org. Our servers primary guilds for WvW are HoD RED BRL TBT HAVC TAS PF GNRS DAWN DvEP KYRO SA. Join up in Devonas Rest borderland and you will find the most active sets of people and guilds to run with.
What Zen said. Don’t forfeit the opportunity to play the game just because the culture on your server doesn’t suit you. Find another server where the game play is a better match.
I totally understand what you are saying in the post above. We each have our own priorities.
You will die. We all do, some more frequently then others. To extend your roll and enhance your effectiveness away from a zerg you must have mobility and situational awareness. In time you will know where the larger enemy forces are moving on the map. You will be able to anticipate their movements and bait them into committing on a section of the map where you want them to fight. Never get tunnel vision. Don’t drop siege and just stare at the wall / door. Always post scouts out at a fair distance from your siege along likely enemy avenues of approach. My sequence is verify supply on hand, move to position drop siege, specify who builds and priority of build, post scouts, food check if needed. When you are hitting something be ready to move and if the defenses are about to fall don’t forget to pull in your scouts.
GNRS its members and its leader will become part of your living memory. The time you spend with the people in GNRS will be fun, well spent and open the value of both the game and the people you share your time with. How long have you been in the game won’t matter. New players or experienced they will both gain from the time spent in GNRS. Flint is a solid leader with a well-managed leadership style. When you think of cool and competent he is the epitome of patience and flexible thought. His teams work like well-oiled machines and the pace is fast enough to make time fly by. GNRS is vital to the Devonas Rest community. Every fight they are in every objective captured has a direct impact on the servers’ outcome for the week. If you want your game play to mean something for your server, if you want to be part of a team that knows you and you look forward to spending time with then join GNRS.
We have a anet dev in our guild but we don’t bug him about work.
Flint and GNRS are a group of quality players on DR. You will really enjoy the time you have to play with them. They are fun and skilled. You will feel like family in no time!
Zombie Alpaca, We should be your new home! Black Rose Legion on Devonas Rest. We have regular players that are helpful in all aspects of the game. Our guild is WvW focused but is willing to help you roll through the game so that you enjoy your play. We would love to have you join us.
Black Rose Legion BRL on Devonas Rest is where you need to be!
We have put in the time on Devonas Rest. We have climbed and fallen. We have dominated and been crushed and through it all we have grown tougher, stronger, more determined. We have grown in player skill, we have adapted our guilds and leaders until they were able to forge strong relationships to enhance the servers growth, commitment and accomplishments. Now we are on the rise!
Who we are looking for in BRL and on DR – YOU
You were away and things changed. Your guilds may be gone or the culture on your server has changed. You need a new home and people that will make you part of the family. You have rested and are ready for a new challenge. Come to a server that is built on a foundation of community and coordination. Our bitter and resentful bandwagon and fair weather players have been burned away through the challenges we have faced. The people on Devonas Rest are fighters. We have enough spine and intestinal fortitude to make Chuck Norris smile.
We want new players ready for a challenge. Playing on Devonas Rest isn’t easy mode. We expect you to be in the fight and with leagues here we need you in the fight. We will help you with build recommendations, we have access to a custom arena to help you refine your pvp skills and train to recognize the opponents key moves, timing and weaknesses. We will work to make you part of an effective team.
Skilled leaders are an asset we could always use more of. You know who you are. You are the natural leader, patient, quick witted, able to follow or lead, always developing those around you. Take the time to consider where you are making the largest impact. You have spent time in game and you want to grow with a new opportunity. Come and talk to me or any of my officers.
We are all about making Devonas Rest a success in coordination with our primary allies RED, HOD, Kyro, GVNC, HAVC, DTGA, ORR, TBT and over 80 other small guilds but there has to be some serious play along with serious work so drop in to our teamspeak on a Wednesday night and enjoy our morale night!
Molen Labe Guild leader Black Rose Legion
Have you ran into the good folks from Devonas out in the mega sever? You will find plenty of them in WvW fighting for DR wearing the BRL tag.
Dahkeus, the last few words are the key " actually care about the objectives". That makes all the difference in the world. My guild pulled defense in our borderland last night with small teams on station and response forces to plus up if larger elements came in. We repelled a breach in a fortified bay, and ended up with a fully upgraded map and 4 hours of holding our map solid, siege etc. This commitment to the task at hand freed up our allies to assault the opponent and dominate them. Our offensive forces were wiped multiple times, they were no juggernaut but they were persistent.
You don’t have to be part of a blob to make a contribution you just have to care.
It is the best place for large scale coordination and teamwork against a thinking opponent.
I was out hunting eggs last weekend and there were rumors a dev had been by earlier in the morning.
I think a party of 7 is reasonable. That way the party can completely drain a buffed supply camp.
MEGASERVER yeah all caps on that one. The map chatter in a hot mess and I would rather reach out to folks that have a interest in moving then try to break through that chatter fest. Take the time to contact me in game or find us in WvW if you are from Devonas. BRL if a tight nit well formed guild with lots of fun people in it.
I am not a salesman but I am certain that there are some around that can tell you what percentage of a particular amount of contacts are likely to be sales. It is the same with recruiting. If I have to sort through: are you from my server, are you in a guild, are you a WvW player, do you have any interest in a guild then maybe have a solid conversation to see if the person fits you are going to be spending a lot of time.
Prior to the mega servers I could see clearly was the person tagged? Were they in a guild that has a known commitment in WvW? Join party to see if they were brand new or not. Those were all factors that allowed you to make quick decisions on whether to engage or not. I don’t recruit from my allies guilds it does nothing to build the total force. This isn’t salmon fishing at the top of the river where you just want a full net. You have limited time to get the job done and you want people that are going to show up and fight.
Our time is valuable. The people in the game that fight at your side are the next most valuable resource. The framework that is established to build and maintain a community is what allows for those people to grow in value. Eliminate the framework or provide another that doesn’t facilitate clear communication and delineation and you have forfeited the value of the community.
My guild has a chapter in ESO with over 250 people in it actively playing. In GW2 we have a remnent of 170 with an average of 50 still playing regularly. If GW2 eliminates communities and player choice in who to fight at our side in WvW I will do my utmost to remove those still here from my guild and every single WvW focused player on my server to ESO. The people in my WvW community are the reason I play the game. If the people in WvW become just a bunch of jumbled together random strangers like PVE is with the mega servers then this game can kiss my *. Do you know what kind of work it takes to get hundreds of people coordinated, communicating, working toward the same goal?
