I see some organized combat from time to time. I usually run in small groups in my guild. I have ran with the zerg some and I have ran with our most organized zerg busting manuever teams.

As a growing guild of experienced WvWvW players I want our people to reach that next level. We use Vent / teamspeak and run with a good mix of classes. We have a force of 8-20 depending on the night of the week. We have some victories and we have some slow attrition losses when we face close or slightly greater odds.

What did you do with your team to maintain organization after contact? Have you split into A/B teams? Have you set complementary pairs? How do you execute your combo / healing / CC rotations to have the most effect? Do you have established battle drills? Do you have a set SOP for actions on contact?

If you are a member of a successful maneuver and strike team I would like your comments. If you just like the title and want to share a good laugh we all need humor as well.

OP troll much? seems successful. Good bait, personal attacks on peoples efforts, intelligence and references to barely relevant historical tactical maneuver.

Command in this game is conditions based. Commanders must understand enemy and friendly conditions read them and execute the best they can with forces available ( willing to follow, able to fight etc). All of that must rest on a firm understanding of the game mechanics, and what you can realistically expect from the force you have available. Tactics, communication and strategy will have a place once you understand what you are doing.

BRL is WvW focused but we have no problem bringing in a new team member and helping you build your toon and enjoy the game.

Solum Contego on Devonas Rest is a competent and capable guild. They have a well integrated membership that treat each other with respect and support. I have seen excellent game play and leadership on the part of their commanders. Solum Contego is a guild with a long history of MMO play. They bring this heritage and expertise with them to GW2.

DDLG Is a large( over 200 members) and inclusive guild. They usually get around 25~40 members on a day. They are a friendly and highly social guild. They let everyone in on the fun, it’s not just the same group of people talking in guild chat! Just give them a try and you’ll see that you fit in!

Black Rose Legion is a small, quality focused guild. We have a long term goal of 25 regularly active members that are fully equipped, trained to their class and all styles of play and regular participants in the game. We currently have 21 members with peak activity of 17 and regular team play of 6-9.

Our members are treated like family. We help each other level, gear up and learn the ropes of the game. Our core membership includes myself and my brother along with some close friends that have been gaming together for over 20 years. What time zone and time range are you looking for?

The war is long term the battle much shorter and for the dedicated WvWr there will be days when your on map leadership is less then stellar. Over time the key is to train your forces across the board and integrate the player base. Develop and show clear appreciation for those who lead well and regularly. Reimburse them for siege and upgrades, report regular intel, bring your guild in to help take the enemy momentum away. When the unknown commander springs from the wood work communicate in whispers with them to keep them working as a team. If you lose momentum because they are just a troll then your best bet is to rally your regulars to another commander and isolate the troll. It just became a more challenging period of command for your primary leader.

Separating PVE and WvW command status is not a functional solution. The icon was purchased not earned. It is a matter of public decision to follow in either environment. It is reputation and results that will have the greatest impact on that following.

Many times there have been alternate command / leadership / grouping topics brought up and you should be able to find those discussions for more details on a solution. For now you live with the design and develop a loyal and trained force to minimize the impact of poor leadership.

So ya saw the cost. Have you looked at a broad spectrum of guilds? Don’t jump on the first thing in front of you. Take a look at all of these and see if you find a good fit.

The server you choose will set the conditions for your gameplay in WvW. Take a look at http://mos.millenium.org/matchups . This reflects the tiers as they stand now. The rating scheme will change soon but the current populations and ratings are clearly reflected by the current performance of each server. This leads to distinct differences in play style in higher and lower tiers. There is a que frequently to get into WvW at higher tiers and most battles involve much larger forces. On lower tiers you have more small man groups and greater freedom to manuever. Each server has its culture and level of organization. Most have public voice communications.

PVE is also determined by the server culture. Some run frequent events with multiple guilds that clear whole areas or work in cooperation for guild missions. The playing population during your prime time will have the largest impact on that.

I am on Devonas Rest (NA) server. We are a tier 7 server and have many helpful guilds.

Ran in NSP BL last night with a variety of DR guilds. Really enjoyed the coordination. When the 50 man NSP force arrived it was a bit of a stiff halt but things picked back up.

Communication is a two way street. You have to engage people. I have brought over 40 people into my guild just by saying hello and striking up a conversation. I treat people well and find out who they are. It is easy to find folks willing to talk, play and have fun with.

To piggy back on Lepew… I would never leave Devonas. The community is what makes the game in WvW for me. I know most of the guild leaders and many of the members. Even people I disagree with tactically are at my side fighting nearly every night. The quality of the game comes from the peoples commitment to each other.
