Wow such a fantastic thread to read through and some great posts / points on both sides of the argument. My 2c on the whole situation.

There are two main reasons I’m still playing this game:

1) I would consider myself a ‘casual’ player. I have a full time job and also study as well so my game time is far less than someone who may be at home all day every day and has access to the game. I feel as though this is one of the main reasons I’m able to log in when I can and feel as though there is something fresh to do. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve spent a decent amount of time playing. I have a legendary, 3 level 80’s with multiple sets of gear, over 6k AP’s, high level fractals on my main but the content updates are JUST enough for me to enjoy when I’m not in WvW.

2) The most important reason I’m still playing is… Drum roll… MY GUILD! I have made some AMAZING friends in this game and I genuinely look forward to logging in when I can to catch up with them over TS and doing some content together. We’ve even had some RL catchup’s and I think that would be the major reason I’m still here.

Unfortunately for ANET, neither of those reasons have anything to do with the game content itself… The guild system / panel is an absolute joke and really should be scrapped and taken back to the drawing board. One MAJOR feature that could really help the community is a Guild Event Calendar! How hard is it really to make something like that so guilds don’t have to rely on forums so much.

As for the PvE content, I really love the idea several people have been posting about since launch, which is a more combat environment in some of the zones where you can build defensive structures to then scale particular events leading to some really cool open world champion battles. Perhaps they can introduce a new crafting tier for building structures, similar to what Wildstar seem to be including which would then clean up the abundance of lower tier crafting materials on the TP as you would have to use those to build the open world structures.

Just spit-balling here but so many neat things they could include but I just feel like they are too focused on story lines and not creative content.

Wtf are you talking about. The issue isn’t that we can’t make money, it’s that the people who actually participated in the event by voting with their support tokens and have potentially a few stacks of now worthless representation tokens are punished compared to the people who simply sat on the support tokens and did jack kitten with them. Explain to me how that makes sense. I’d love to hear it.

All i know is the Thaumanova Reactor Explosion better be kittening amazing to be better than the fall of a god. Time will tell I guess.

I’m genuinely confused about the people complaining about this feature… How does account wide gold and karma affect you negatively? Creating a new alt becomes a whole lot easier now by having access to money right off the bat! I swear people just complain for the sake of complaining.

Well, if I recall the old tests correctly, there was a theory going around that we had 120% HP, but took double damage; essentially making it 60%. With the fix, it is entirely possible that they were right all along.

That actually sounds like it could be accurate. Always felt like I’d get burst through DS pretty darn quick.

WvW was finally seeing Necros again but I guess people will just bench them again.

Ask yourself this.

Does making an entire weapon set’s abilities unblockable not sound like a VERY powerful trait? Does it not deserve to be higher?

To be honest the trait is quite ridiculous and shouldn’t even be in the game to begin with. Once they become unblockable all counter play to them is removed.

I partially agree that the ‘idea’ of unblockable is strong but quite honestly, the staff was being used for the fear which is why it was so important. As far as I know, Doom and Spectral Wall are still blockable, making the chain fear potentially avoidable. Staff as a whole is actually a rather underwhelming weapon for Necros. It has low damage considering the cooldowns compared to other weapons but the utility it brings is what makes it worth taking. I think the chain fear combo was / is a fantastic concept (admittedly a little strong with the old terror + dhuumfire combo) and it makes enemies think hard about cleansing in WvW. I just feel as though they added a really great playstyle that had huge potential and not much tweaking needed aside from the damage but now we’re back to where we started a month ago.

I would mix up your accessories with carrion and rabid. Try a split between the two:D I would go with 5/6 runes of the undead, and 1/6 runes on the necromancer!

Why on earth would you take 5/6 undead and not go for 6/6 undead?

Even at base toughness (around 1000), undead runes give 50 condition damage for the 6 bonus. That beats out nightmares 1 rune bonus by about 20.

This is correct. Better off going for the 6 bonus.

Nocturnal is a mature age gaming guild that has spanned many games over the years. We first formed for the game Dark Age of Camelot and boasted one of the most successful guilds in the game. We gained reputation for our keep defenses and leadership, especially in the US offpeak hours hence the name Nocturnal (meaning: of the night).

We have been a presense in World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online and now Guild Wars 2.

We aren’t hard core, but the time we spend in game is usually organised and dedicated to creating experiences that our guild members will remember forever. Our experienced WvW team provides us with the ability to shape our warfare dynamically around the zergs, also when required head on with co-ordinated attacks/defends with those on BGTS.

Nocturnal is looking for self sufficient and motivated players that don’t need to be levelled or given charity. We put in the hard work on our characters and we expect you to as well. Nocturnal isn’t a free ride.

If you have an event you want to participate in, organise it in advance and we’ll create an event for it.

To join Nocturnal, you must:

• Be 21 years or older and community focused (i.e. not a self-serving arrogant prick).
• Have a basic understanding of Guild Wars 2 or Elder Scrolls Online and how it works
• Enjoy both PVE and PVP. We have regular events for both.
• Understand that our main focus for the game is World vs World/Player vs Player. Many of our events will be centered around it.
• Our prime playtime is GMT+10 evenings (7:30pm-11:30pm usually). Our events are planned around this timezone. We are getting an increasing amount of kiwis. If we get enough there will be events specifically for that timezone.
• Be self sufficient – we aren’t a charity/power levelling guild though we’ll do our best to plan events for everyone.
• Voice communication (including microphone) is mandatory through our Teamspeak 3 and BGTS.
• Have a great sense of humour, we like to do crazy kitten and video it!

Player vs Player / World vs World

Nocturnal’s main focus will be about World vs World/Player vs Player battles, tactics and success. You must also:

• Be willing to contribute cash or blueprints each week for guild events. Jumping puzzles are run as a guild.
• Be a team player, not all tasks in WvW/PvP are fighting. Sometimes you’ll be asked to do things that don’t directly relate to fighting the enemy.
• Understand our goal is to be renowned as great PvP fighters and tacticians.
• Be willing to lose to learn, without nerdraging.
• Undertake resource gathering for the guild while in the WvW zones.
• Understand its expected that you fight with the guild, for the guild and server/alliance.

Player Vs Environment/Dungeons/Guild Missions

• We have members that constantly run high level FOTM.
• Our members are also very experienced in all other dungeons.
• Guild missions are held regularly, we are looking at doing Tier 3 Bounty currently.
• World bosses, map clearance/world completion are also things we cater for.
• The Legendary Buddy System® – helping members complete tasks on their road to legendary completion

We do expect a high level of guild participation in planned events. The guild will be regularly cleansed of players that don’t participate in our community or log in during our event times unless the guild is advised beforehand. If you had an emergency and couldn’t contact us for an extended period, by all means you’ll get an invite back, just speak with one of the officers upon your return.

The boon removal addition to axe 3 is going to be INSANELY powerful in WvW. In conjuntion with Sigil of Nullification and focus, you could be stripping boons constantly without having to use wells. I’ve already built myself a build I think will be fairly viable in WvW team fights but i’m waiting for the actual patch to test it properly.

I feel so rested

I would love to be able to move the enemy faceplate / damage bar. One particular instance that comes to mind where the bar is distracting and quite frankly, in the way, is the Legendary Inbued Shaman in Fractals. I’d much rather move it down on top of my own health bubble and scale it down a bit. Leaves my screen nice and open for me to see everything in front of me when i have something targetted.

It’s common knowledge that more than one guild made the decision to move to Blackgate and that some Blackgate guilds offered some assistance to getting the final few members of those guilds over once the guild had committed to moving and had already moved most of their active members themselves.

This is the second time this afternoon that I’ve come across a post that I am completely unable to understand what the person is trying to say.

I found the content so far great and it’s really interesting to watch the evolution of the refugee camps over the last few weeks

This content will be great for the people who enjoy PvE with a storyline (even though this one is in it’s infancy stages and still building). The people who are complaining loudest generally need their hands held through games but there are plenty of people who enjoy the mystery and just discovering stuff on their own.

To be honest, I can’t imagine Kaineng being very competitive in tier 1. There really aren’t any other tier 1 ready servers. Besides, haven’t people from Kaineng stated many times that they’re happy in tier 2?

Pro strat or not, it works, otherwise we wouldnt be hearing the QQ from you. Don’t bash other guilds because your server is failing to fill that time slot in WvW. Waha and FOO are one of the best guilds out there. But if a server cant get people on, what else can they do? What did you think? That they were going to sit around a keep until some defenders showed up before trying to take it?

No QQ from me mate. I don’t deny the strat works and we’ve had plenty of discussions about how to counter it but I just find it humerous when some guy comes on here to claiming they wiped the floor with BG using screenshots that don’t have half his allies rendered.

We’ve all been in Tier 1 play for long enough to know the current meta. It’s just a shame it’s gotten to this stage.

Only thing about Teir I really don’t like is being hit by a 60+ person Oceanic/SEA JQ PVDoor zerg you can’t do anything to stop, kinda takes the fun out of it. Surely its not fun for you guys just rolling everything with no threat apart from a group that is half or less than your number.

Ok lets make a deal, you stop attacking us with your massive zergs when we’re undermanned, (night time-early morning EST, and in the middle of the day EST) and we’ll quit rolling over your Oceanics when they actually have even numbers.

EDIT: It can be hard to see here, but to me it really looked like an even fight, sea of blackgates was just very spread out and got crushed. Beyond what appeared to me to look like an even fight, is the fact that these mostly Merc and ND people actually charged the FOO crew 3 or 4 times in the 3~ hours I played this morning. Which leads me to believe they actually thought they could win, so they must of had decently even numbers. But regardless of that, these people had more than enough numbers wise to hold onto a fully upgraded garrison on their own BL map for more than 15 minutes I would think. FOO and crew didnt even try, they just dropped rams and crushed these guys and flipped garrison in about 15 minutes. It would of been less but you’d be amazed how many Warriors SOB fields that run that banner to res the keep lord.

Is this showing the strat where you stack 60 people in one spot and just spam regen and cleansing and headbutt the door to death? Seen that numerous times from Waha and his band of merry men. Pro strats will always be pro

Actually people/guilds moved from SoS to BG over the last few weeks. So its not like the original BG members fought their way back in some heroic fashion. They just acquired better players which still wont be good enough to beat JQ

To their credit, they stuck together and fought their way back up to t1 again. Very impressive in light of the number of other servers that have fallen from t1 only to see all their major pvp guilds quit and run off to another server.
