Did I miss something?
Op you are bored because guardian is freaking broken and dull, when anet made guardian class decided to ruin the flavor and mix all the vegetables in a big pile of salad kitten, and then decided to add a hot sauce every 5th spoon (every 3rd if traited!)
That was wonderful.

I don’t know from where you got the information that I didn’t try anything else. There is this thread, 5 ingame reports and the reddit post. That should be enough to get someones attention.
This wasn’t about me anymore the moment the workaround was posted. The reason I was staying was to see how many know about the workaround and how long it takes Anet to react.
Let me tell you that maybe 1/10 people did know about it. And I’m rounding up here. This wouldn’t been that big of a problem if this was something the majority of the players knew about. But they didn’t.
Many players, new and old ones, didn’t know about this. What kittenty first impression is this for a new player when the tutorial is buggy and you wait half an hour without an GM doing anything.
4 hours later, still nothing. I’m lvl 2 now after killing only centaurs. (they give 3 xp btw)
This is how villans get born… lol
3 hours later and still nothing. You cannot finish the human tutorial. The only work around is the guest server thingy but nearly no one knows that.
I decided to stay and see how long it takes them to fix it. waiting now ~1.5 hours and nothing. The new guy here with me is not that happy.
Reddit post, 2 ingame reports and this here is not enough…
“I knew I should have been a farmer.” – Seraph Soldier
I’m having a hard time deciding between the two.
I’m looking for a solo/small group roamer in WvWvW.
I want to deal sustained DPS and have strong CC/Imob.
I was think of Axe/Shield + Longbow for Warrior and Scepter/Focus + Greatsword for Guardian.
I need to have a ranged weapon on any class I play, I’m just weird like that :p
Is the Longbow any good ( Warrior )? I find its AA taking aaaages ( definitely not .75s ) and its damage seems mediocre unless it’s a full condi build which I do not want ( I prefer to rely on skills [zerker gear] and not conditions)
What are the pros and cons of playing a Guardian/Warrior. Which one do you think I would enjoy most?
Thanks :>
With the stuff you want to do warrior would be the best. If you think warrior ranged is bad you never saw the kitten guardian has. It’s just a bad joke.
If you die in hotjoin you get a 20 sec respawn timer now. Seems like a bug to me because doing it like this is stupid. People who play hotjoin are often times new players who would just run in a fight without thinking. so letting them die one by one is pretty bad.
If you change it, don’t forget to disable forced respawn.
Oh and throw in some actual tooltips in the death breakdown. If you feel fancy add from which profession the skill is and if it’s a weapon skill (and what weapon) or if it’s a healing/utility/elite skill.
This is still not fixed?!
At this point I’m thinking about starting a fundraiser or something. If they aren’t willing to fix all these bugs we just pay someone to do it.
Can someone from Anet say how much this would cost approximately?
I would change the traits to this:
Actually Rethmar is serious. He made this video about healing guardian in PvE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oueBpmhAU-o. I couldnt stop laughing when Í saw that
PS. also he is usings shield in PvE
I just saw the video… holy kitten I have no words for this. And there are even people who thank him for this. I just – what the… wow…
Look at this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkkgL1cPJYM
2 layers of depth that do not exist at all.
The Guardian is in a really good place right now.
Take that back!

Why not just put them in there? same with downed skills.
I would disagree calling it “pretty decent”. It’s just the one that sucks the least.
I wish they would just take all the spirit weapons and throw them into one elite.
The shield aura of Protector’s Strike (Guardian, 3rd Mace skill) is still visible even when the skill is not active. It was on a Norn, maybe this is relevant.
But why do they give us new traits for our offensive capabilities then? Is it just to feed on our tears? Do they love to see us suffer as we struggle to make it work somehow? Do they give us hope just to crush it while they laugh?
I refer to PvP:
Guardian: Very good at providing boons and sustained – general group support and very tanky even with a low health pool. Generally act as a frontline support – first in and last out. Different from warriors who have a more of a selfish sustain.
All this is only true as a bunker guardian. If we try to play him more offensively we loose our group support and general tankyness. I can not understand how no one at Anet sees a problem, if you loose everything that makes a profession if you play him as anything other than support bunker.
It is so bad that an Ele fits the design of an offensive guardian better than the guardian himself. Just think about it: Good at providing boons to your teammates while dealing damage. Quite tanky even with low health pool. Ele fits this better than offensive guardian.
I play Guardian.
Strengths:
They should be good at supporting players with boons and removing conditions. If needed they can bring some hard CC but have to give up some boons in return. But people shouldn’t be saying “we bring guardian because of his awesome CC”. More like “we really need some CC or we’re screwed”.
And they got a bit more stuff like Merciful Intervention. Porting to a teammate is soooo “guardian”
Weaknesses:
They only got okay damage and defensive. They are rather slow in terms of movement and bad at ranged combat. Chill and poison is ugly.
Kryptonite:
AoE. Forcing the guardian to use his support skills in a way, so that he can’t defend himself anymore if he gets focused.
In my opinion Guardians should be more balanced in terms of offensive and defensive. Their mobility should be weak but their support good.
Don’t warriors need 20 for that GS trait?
Like I said, the problem is not on the might duration — even if it has no internal cooldown, I would still use it when it has only 1s AoE might. It’s already one of the best AH booster traits even with 1s cooldown. When I was running AH build, I avoided that trait because it is so strong (unless I’m fighting 40+ man zerg), and picked two-handed mastery instead.
Could you explain the potential build diversity that would come up?
I mean 10 points in the new trait system. 4 points to get the might on crit trait with greatsword and 6 for the sharing.
You are right, this would be nuts…
Mostly pvp builds. Let’s see:
2/1/2/6/1 – Berserker dmg build with reduced cd for Judge’ Intervention, 2 shouts, the “conditions into boons when hit by shout” trait. More team support but less dmg. The Force of Will trait helps us with conditions. Less toughness.
2/2/2/4/4 – Maybe making the healing signet viable again. Reduced signet cd and stability through Virtues and shouts. Force of Will as master trait again.
2/1/6/4/1 – Meditation build with berserker amulet. A more hp oriented version of this build.
EM’s ICD is fine, otherwise it would become ridiculous in conjunction with GS #2. However, the range should be increased to 600 and the duration to something like 10-15 seconds. Right now, it’s a bad joke compared to what a warrior can do with the phalanx strength trait.
This would help against long boss encounters in pve. But it sadly doesn’t really help us in pvp with our poor mobility. It would be great if we can make this work as well. And don’t mention scepter, I feel like a dog eating a lemon everytime I hear about that thing…
I can see that. If we compare it with the Warrior then we see that he needs greatsword and 10 points for the same effect.
I just feel like that there is a lot of potential for build diversity if someone could get this to work.
Maybe reducing the might duration even further?
Look at the Honor trait line.
Swap the minor trait Selfless Daring (The end of your dodge roll heals nearby allies.)
with Elusive Power (Deal more damage while your endurance is not full.)
Remove the icd from the major trait Empowering Might (You and nearby allies gain might when you land a critical hit) and reduce the might duration to 4 seconds (from 5).
Change its positon with Force of Will (You have increased vitality based on your level.) and maybe nerf Force of Will if need to.
I think this could make some very interesting builds possible. Drop meditations for shouts in an dps build. You get more codi removal and support but loose dmg and/or toughness depending on how you build it.
Thoughts?
I refer to PvP:
If I look at other professions I see traits that change their priorities. Guardian doesn’t get any of this really. The only thing that is big is that Meditations heal and shouts cure conditions.
The thing is that we run around with
- 10k base HP (this just hurts so much with all what we have to deal with)
- no good ranged weapon (scepter is okay but cmon… thats what we get wet for?)
- no good condition removal (only if we play bunker or something)
- no swiftness (staff 3 only helps in PvE)
- no cripple (chill only with hammer, only on crit with a 50% chance, only every 30 seconds)
and probably other things.
Thats the reason why spirit weapons and signets suck. There is just so much stuff we have to worry about. On top of that comes torment. Now it hurts even more that we get kited 24/7. So we need to play Judge’s Intervention…
I think that traits are the best way to fix all this without completely breaking everything.
Just some ideas:
- increased dmg while wearing a torch
- make the “loose a conditon every 10 seconds” trait a minor trait
- chance to cripple on crit with greatsword
- stun breaker on offhand shield
- chance to remove poison when healing (should work with meditation heals)
- increased boon duration with every signet equipped
Seriously tho, shut the hell up. Guardians, as a class, are SO overpowered. Yeah they might have a weapon or two that’s not as hot, BUT ITS STILL playable.
I was beaten by a scepter guardian in sPVP tonight who still had full health when I beat him. I don’t suck, but necros do, and Guardians are OP.
If you can’t kite the slowest profession in the game it’s probably your fault. But think what you want.
(I referring to PvP)
The Sword is the best weapon of the Guardian. Autoattack that deals insane damage, gapcloser, and the 3 skill brings the highest burst you can get.
Scepter need higher projectile speed on the autoattack and lower attackrate.
The second skill needs higher damage and lower aoe. So you need to place it right to get the “high” damage.
The third skill is fine I think.
