I tried. My pewpew thief didn’t pewpew as far as the ranger pewpew and i don’t have OP pet which forced me to stealth and then they made the pet FIND ME! like srsly, it found me while stealthed! Talk about OP being able to nullify one trick i have to stay alive as thief.

You are right mate! We need skills in evety weapon what kills pet instantly and damage the ovner if the pet killed. I think 50% hp loss is not OP.
I dont like to move in fights! Why am i need to walk to avoid pet damage? Its enough to presss buttons from 1 to 10There we go, you dont like to move in fights, which is an essential thing to do in pvp games, so pets are not the problem at all, its you and others who cant be bothered to move.

I was out one day on my then upleveled warrior trying to get to some POIs and Vistas on my home BL when a random mesmer came along and ganked me. We were outmanned so I didn’t care too much, but after the 3rd time of this mes stalking my uplevel i swapped out to my condi thief and went hunting. After killing the mes twice on my BL, I realized they left and went to their BL to see if they were there. Sure enough they were and I got in my third revenge kill before going back to doing my POIs.

I don’t normally complain about such things (and i was a lucky one to have gotten through this event a few times before the zerg was even the meta for the knights), but i do have to say that over all, this event has been made WAY harder to do making it near impossible for people coming to it in this week to actually get to the holo fights, etc. My Guard in full zerk still does silly low amounts of damage to these things and really, teaching people that the overall meta should be zerk and condi, then make a boss the punishes you for one of those metas and facerolls you if you happen to miss one of your stability or dodge checks is kinda lame. I’ve yet to see more than one knight taken down, and usually that happens with 3 minutes to “spare” while the other 2 knights are at 40-50% health. That just can’t be right.

hmmm, must have forgotten to check. Oh well.
I am really over the people complaining that Anet programmed in mechanics for a battle to make you have to use skill and teamwork and generally know how to play the game to win it.
Its sad but true, currently I would say the only servers that actually fight are SF, FC, AR, and GoM provided theres no superduper PvE thingy happening. The rest have become tower humping garbage, with the exception of Kain of course who I just feel bad for, even if they came out to fight both of them would die in seconds.
This right here.
Had some of the most fun recently with AR. Those were some great fights (big and small) with them. FC has been fun when they come out and play too and GoM can get those numbers going as well. DH and SF go back and forth all the time, but it really becomes a questions of who’s coverage covers for longer for the week when we fight. 
Uhm, tab and auto attack with a ranged weapon. at some point your attack will track.

i was jumped by OP ranger and their pets just last night in a camp. i was trying to cap it and BOOM, knock back, invis and getting my eyes pecked by birds.
All the birds.

Funny thing is I remember post after post on these forums of players sick and tired of being second fidel to others (NPCs) in the game and clamoring to get a more central role in the story. Not ONCE did i see a large group of people crying out against this…until now. AFTER Anet delivers on the thing the community was seemingly asking for do we now see people not wanting it. LOL, it really is too funny. And more importantly the reasons why are just goofy. Saint said it best just now, the story assumes you to be a hero. Not that there are 19287349587435 people playing and that they are all the hero at the same time. Just you. Its a game people, really.
AOE and melee him. make sure you have people blasting water fields and he should go down “faster”. He definitely is a pain though, especially with people trying to hang back and range him.
Both my guard and engie have fallen to those beasts and their pewpews from 1500 away. I can sometimes run from them on my Engie, but their pets are fast and knock me down then i try to fight and they go invis and knock me back while pet chews on my face.
Give me the sads.

They better not! I was already getting hit by UNICORNS the other day, and another one was planting flowers on me from 1500 away.
I ran because i didn’t want to be their plant buddy, then that lizard knocked me down and ate my hobosack. It went downhill from there.
Basically at the end of the day rangers need some tweaking, especially in the damage output areas as compared to the other classes because barrage really isn’t that bad. Any group of people AOEing that AC would have destroyed it just as if not faster.
No one ever say how bear in water, Nornbearman not go in water I notice….
Bears are very use to being in water. They have to go eat the fish all the time. Not sure how though they can hold their breath that long when below the water. Must store all that oxygen in their fluffy fur
Either that or bears found way to use hax. Also ran across a ranger with Moa army. Pecked me to death and shrieked my face off. not fun.
I’ve honestly had the most fun with my engie, although holding water camp on an enemy BL with my necro and a ballista for an hour plus once was pretty funny for a one time event.
OK, I’ve been joking some over in another thread to blow off some steam, but I do have a few things/opinions about ranger pets. I love my ranger. I love him enough to have named him after his GW1 “ancestor” and when I started playing this game with him I really wanted some of that old feel with the pet/beastmaster.
Here are jut a few ideas I’ve kicked around. I have NO idea how much time and energy any of this will take to implement, but I think its something to give some thought to.
First: Juvie to Dire progression. I think if you are a beastmaster that takes the time to exclusively run a pet or two, that those pets should level over time on their own to the point of becoming Dire pets. This would allow them to have longer “leashes” and come closer to some of their original damage potential that had been nerfed some time back. This both helps reward rangers that stay dedicated to certain pets and play styles, while also limiting their efficiency with pets that they don’t have a bond with. It also helps offset the AI issue which we all know can’t get tweaked anytime soon.
Furthermore I think that if you go full beastmaster that there be a trait at the GM level that if you choose it changes your utility skills to those of your pet attacks so you can more readily control and command your pet to perform certain attacks as if they were your utility skills, lending more to the ranger being an actual beastmaster. The key of course is that the pet needs to actually perform the skills when its enacted, etc.
Lastly, please, pet naming. I know it sounds goofy, but as a ranger I really want this. I want the name to be saved. Even if it has to reference some config or text file on my hard drive every time i load up, I want the ability for my pet’s name to be saved.
DOOD, he WAS the bear?! For cryin’ out loud! That’s just too much now. Anet needs to get on nerfing these bears out of the game. Rangers need to be real rangers and only use improvised weapons found in nature. And i still want to know how they breath underwater. Bears would drown after some time.
Also, bearbow train so going to own the hammer train this season, just you watch.

Why people keep saying trolls, I say I have no issue with trolls, I kill them 100% PVE = no prob. Trolls not make you fall only have knockdown, but it not 1/2 as annoying as Drakehound! You must be new player, think trolls fall……Pls trolls not in WvW only ogres. Ogres have pets not trolls.
Drakehound, Wolf, Hyena, dog pets all dog knockdown when I try to heal. Wolf scare me make me run away interupt my skills.
Then theres the dog one, Murallow or somting, its like a furless dog….Spraying poison everywhere, but then its like BEAR and goes in water after me when I run away….

Ever considered to move around in combat? IF so you should have seen pets are incredibly useless then and according to your signature you play a ranger yourself, pull it out in wvw more often and see how other people deal with it, then you would not make troll posts like this, yes troll posts and ranger pets AI is the worst you can find, do you die to pve mobs? no? why would u have problems with ranger pet then.
Edit: the murrelow does have a aoe poison cloud, but if you see the pet raising up, you know when to move out and other pets knockdowns are easily to overcome with a simple stability/dodge
Yeah, but when you’ve already used your aegis and stability and other aegis and block, and blind, then what? And what of the poor necro and engie with even LESS stability? For serious, they are just way too OP being able to bring that much hurt with the pets that call friends with the knockdowns and interrupts. Even worse when they also bring along those glowing friends of theirs too. What kind of magical pets are those?!?!
My pet is useful in engaging small groups…in a zerg my pet dies before getting to his target.
In WvW my pet is my rez buddy….that’s about it.
Apparently you need to go the bear/drakehound/shark/jelly rotation since that seems to be what owns all right now.
Seriously, that would just terrify me and force me to run into the tower and attempt to treb them from the walls until they left.
Should call them something else to match how OP they are, something like “Gigantic Killer Bear with No Fear and Lots of Health” or something close to that.

Bears mauled my face pretty hard in there. Its kinda what they do. Bears. Mauling and such. And those drake hounds. Lordy those drake hounds. Worse than them though are those hyena and them calling for back up. Its like hello, free pet!
I honestly don’t know if it was mentioned in here or not, but for WvW, one of the things that is sorely lacking and really needs to be addressed is finding a way to make defending more lucrative/engaging/rewarding for both players and servers. Until something like that is fixed nothing else will really change how WvW is really played. Zergs are rewarded greatly and defense is not. Plain and simple.
Frankly I’m more annoyed that the bear and some others hold their breath for as long as they can. Last i checked only players had re-breathers.

Oh man or worse, when fighting these rangers and they go invis on your and you end up hitting their pet, then they come out, tage you from 1500 while swapping in those birds that wreck your face. Jeez man. Seriously Anet, get it together…rangers need some serious nerfing. Unless in dungeons with me, then I let them tank things for me.
It goes something like this: F2 – “Wonder Twin powers activate!”, the Pet Skill Activate button starts blinking, some random time up to 10s later the pet skill MIGHT go off.
You tellin me pet skills bugged pets giving MIGHT NOW after 10s?!

Special “pet skill” during this time “dirge” you howl for your lost pet and grant regen to yourself and 5 allies for 3 seconds. Skill roots you.
Agreed, there should be a long cooldown between bringing out a pet after it gets killed. Realistically, after a pet dies the ranger should have to dig a hole and bury the pet in a cardboard box then morn it for 5-10 weeks before buying a new one from the pet store.
It’s not going to keep rangers from being overpowered but it’s a place to start.
They should definitely allow for death cooldown to be sure. I’ll even accept the ability for the pet to become a dire pet like GW1 if they can work that death CD into the mix.

this I agree with…but ranger is the least of your worries. my personal favorite sad wall defender death is when a 5 man party of engineers all run up and throw their junk up on the wall at the same time and run off lol
Nah, I then start to chuck my grenades over the wall at them too to add insult to injury.
Even better when a ranger barrages them too to keep the cripple stacks up. lol
Until Ranger pets are as strong as Phantasms, they will continue to be a joke.
Phantasms are no problem for me, they have low HP pool, pets are too tanky…
One of them does upwards of 5k damage to hardened targets, the other can effectively be ignored the entire fight. One of them comes out every 20s or less even after being destroyed, the other requires a lot of traiting to make it even slightly effective. One of them often steals party boons the other doesn’t. One of them can deal damage when destroyed and synergizes with Clone skills, the other has almost no useful synergy with any traits.
There was a time when pets were dangerous but their damage has been significantly reduced. In their current state at best they generate an occasional knockdown.
I just set it all on fire, burn baby burn….
Bearbow says "Shake it off, and Defies Pain", then bam full health, ranger just whaling away on me from max range, HURT PAIN ANGUISH!
Now you tell who more OP Phantasm or BEAR?!
What’s worse is when they also hit you with Barrage right after so you can’t run before the pet rolls back up on you.
I am frankly appalled that you would think Sav and I would openly joke about the perils of having to fight off ranger pets in WvW Fenrir. Appalled!
Yeah, to be honest, the worse I’ve seen from well organized rangers with LB and trap set ups were that they waited right until the enemy force pushed into the group and about 3 of them started dropping CC along the retreat routes and sides helping to make a nice killzone. Now a good team can probably take a tower fairly easy, especially against one dude, but its certainly not because barrage is OP.
I’d love to handle their pets if they weren’t knocking me down every 5 seconds and calling in reinforcements. Seriously need to make it so when they die they can’t come back until the ranger WPs.
Not to mention the fact that they have no pull like a mez unless they are also running Axes and I’m not even sure they can hit ya on the wall with that move, so feel free to look over the edge and ping them that way too, if just to make them dodge out of their barrage.
Phantasms don’t bother me too much. I can just draw them together and kill them with one whirl.
I play a guard and that’s a pretty tight build right there.
Seriously had 2 rangers on me with their pets, just cycling through them, and every time I got close to the ranger they knocked me back like 50 feet then went invisible. Seriously OP. You must be a god in WvW killar.

LOL, hush Sav. :p heheheh Seriously though, OP, learn some placement for the areas you want to defend.
Place AC in better spot. Seriously. This is about siege placement more than AOE reach. Also, if you’re outmanned that much for the match up you’re better off learning the roaming paths and trying to find some small fights, sniping yaks, and taking camps than trying to defend. You’ll get more bang for your buck that way and probably have way more fun.
