I had fun with some AR trying in vain to AC my guardian from a tower last night. It like like a light summer rain…of arrows. Occasionally someone jumped from the tower only to run back in after getting hit a few times with retaliation. They finally sent a stun-locker out with his totes not OP signet to eventually overtake my healing and damage reduction. Mostly I just got bored with the fight.

Yeah, they’ve tried that with us and we just try to pull and push them away from that gate before downing them in the water or force them to run.

OK. Anet. I’m just going to share my experience (albeit small) from some WvW play last night. A sentry was flipped by an opponent outside my BL Garrison. i was heading out to flip it back when the icon disappeared telling me it got flipped again. As I rounded the corner I saw the sentry was taken out not by another player from my server or even another opposing player from the other server, but my LS npcs. So I was basically denied the xp and the experience/fun of flipping the sentry (one of the core mechanics in WvW) because of LS npcs. Here’s the thing: I am primarily a PvE player (although my time is more split 50/50 these days) and I really like a lot of the recent LS stuff. Caveat: I like it when I am playing PvE. It’s like this…when skritt ot centaurs go and put swords on a camp, that is a nice way to make people HAVE to check if its an enemy messing with the camp or npcs, but those npcs cannot “take” the camp. Having LS npcs not only eliminate WvW objectives, but also trip up groups trying to take objectives and thereby throw off the balance of play on the map after stating it wouldn’t happen during leagues is just wrong. You know it and I know. Please. Don’t do this again. Its unfair for those of us that play WvW more often as our way of extending our enjoyment of the game or for those that WvW 100% of the time.

If nothing explodes and needs my attention at work I might try to show up for some fun/build testing.

I love to yak and camp snipe with my thief, especially if i am on a map that i know has a bigger group getting important objectives because they start trying to hunt me (thinking I am a small group) and i can usually get away/hide and move around the map in such a way to keep people off of the main group capping towers and keeps. Its fun. I am also testing a p/p-s/p build now for variety.

Horace has like 10000000 single hit kill skills that he can do at 6000 range through walls and can even kill you in another map. Seriously i hate that dude. I honestly don’t think he can be solo’d, but that’s just me.

Had some fun on my BL last night testing out my Guard in his zerker gear. Def not gonna do that with large group play, but made for some fun fights 1v1 or with small groups. Gotta do that more often just to keep things interesting. hehe

Is it just me that find the warrior shield skills bad?

with kits an engineer can get 2 shields. One from offhand and one from toolkit. Engineer is squishier than a warrior so it makes sense. Most engineers don’t run anything like this though.

A few seconds off of the warriors shield cooldown would be OP.

Actually that is exactly how i run my engie in WvW. Pistol/Shield with toolkit, grenades and either bombs or Elixer B. Makes for some fun, medium, long and close up damage throughout a fight.

Here’s the thing with warriors as they are now: I’m a fairly decent Guardian. Not great, but fairly decent. Although my build is set to be big support in group play/open field combat in WvW, I have been able to stand up to others 1v1 and sometimes 1v2 in WvW. That is if none of those are warriors. With all my healing, damage reduction, blocking and retaliation I still cannot stop a war from running up on me and interrupting me to death. A lot of the time its not even that they are actively trying to stop me from performing skill “x”, they are just rolling through their knockdowns and interrupts with a few melee swings in between. If they come into a fight after I’ve engaged someone else, then forget about it, they completely throw off the balance of that fight and make it impossible to win. NO other class has that ability in the game, and it has nothing to do with skill since even a single unskilled player can cause enough damage and lay down enough cc to completely derail another player in another class even if they brought along 3 stun breakers (which no one ever will). I used to think the perma stealth crit monkey thief was the biggest pain in my rear in WvW, but they are manageable for me as a Guardian. The warriors are just impossible to deal with in their current form and when you have one to two of them running into a fight with anyone else, if you don’t have a large enough group to counter them, you’re going to get wiped.

My Engie loves her shield. A lot. Like a WHOLE lot. That being said, i like what warrior shield gives me in blocks and reflects and the additional interrupt along with mace and hammer and charge, well you know that dance.

I hate shield on my Guardian though. If they made the blocking bubble smaller and follow us instead of rooting me, then I might be happier with it, but it still only blocks projectiles. :/ It also doesn’t last for long and has a silly cool down. Wars have nothing to complain about with the shield.

Hey now. SF looking FORWARD. FOR. WARD. We’ve been doing awesome and I’ve found myself running around (in the very few times I could get time to log in late at night) with tons of new faces and some old ones too. Actually liking seeing smaller pockets of STaR roaming about and joining in with some of us more random regs in our BL (since that’s where I tend to play) Seriously, I’m liking this unity, so no, no drama. We have servers to focus down on and yes we are getting better at it.

Now, onward to reset night, full steam! See ya’ll at North camp tonight.

Apologies if this has come up before, but my wife and I noticed recently that either the magician’s or country armor on humans put them in thigh high stockings, but on norn and sylvari they are wearing leggings in the same kind of armor. Anyone know if that was intentional or a mistake? This is mostly for my curiosity.

I’ve used mine in helping hold camps in WvW. They offer good enough CC on their own and with a fully upgraded camp (that doesn’t have moving yaks), those 2 extra charr come in real handy when keeping dudes occupied while to shoot them in the face with a ballista, then some arrow cart, then some more ballista. Had another Chardian on my server do this and had to try it for myself and found it to be very fun.

I spent most of my PvE time on my guardian hitting things with my great sword and switching to mace/torch because blue flames. I survived just fine everywhere I went either with my wife or solo. Traited to have my GS heal as I hit and it was fun. Then I went into WvW and had meh survival rates, so I re-traited to something more tanking/heal group support, got some better armor and runes and pretty much go everywhere as a GS/Staff or hammer. Recently got some zerker armor and runes to play around with those in WvW and as long as I was with one other person (at least), I chew through NPCs there and made a few players that weren’t expecting a Zerked out G take a step back and rethink life a few times before their more experienced players realized I was glass and wrecked my face.

I can see how that could jack the duration for regen, but it was be kinda bleh for healing itself, even on full clerics. Must also be kitted out with cleric and maybe some soldier ascended accessories with the corresponding infusions too. Gives up a ton of damage that way though. :/

If you’re taking Hammer along then spec for glacial hammer. Can only help. Other than that this should provide enough support in WvW small group tactics and enough damage output. Just be wary of thieves spiking you with interruption warriors.

I’m near impossible to take down and can buff left and right making things very difficult for attackers. With that same set up and shifting from staff to hammer (and leaving GS) I can do some serious peck damage in 1v1 fights to most players, and (obviously) destroy up-levels. I can even hold my own and possibly win some 1v2 or 1v3 depending on the skill of the other players. Once it gets to 1v4+ though, you can have them be the kitten iest players you’ve ever met and sooner or later they will catch you on cool down and eat you alive. For solo roaming I found my engie and thief to be best followed by my necro.

Could I see the build?
I’ve seen Guardians running into zerg and surviving for like 10 seconds, don’t know how though.

Its a o/o/30/30/10 with runes that bump my boon duration up by a chunk. By using the staff in a large group I can go from almost no health back to full health and be a total jerk with the wall and area attack off of the staff while switching to GS for small bursts of damage when my group starts to dogpile someone.

This doesn’t have everything in my build, just some of the key aspects regarding the runes on my gear. I still plan on kitting out my accessories to jack my boon duration even more. Also, I am using a full set of armor from Dwayna.

You could probably go full clerics or knights and have similar results in large groups.

His last name comes from his early years in the Iron Legion when he was still training in the field. A thinker and healer by trade, he was working on bring back a fallen comrade from the brink of death and angrily hushed him when he cried out in pain because he didn’t want their position being given away to the ghosts in the area. At first it began as a jibe type nickname, but as others grew to accept his naturally quiet and exacting nature, it stuck as a name of honor for him.

Fact is, this week, between PvE content and getting home fairly late from work for most of the week, I just wasn’t feeling like running up against 6+ dudes by myself was going to be “fun”. I did it one night where I stood outside of our garri that Yaks had and they proceeded to waste over 10 minutes trying to kill me with siege that I SLOWLY destroyed with my -staff-. Then about 2 or 3 of them came out and proceeded to not come close to killing me. Another couple of SFers on the map came along and stomped them, so they tried a combo of attacking me with those same 3 dudes AND siege, and they STILL couldn’t down me. (I’m not even that good solo with my Guard btw). It finally took them putting the call out i guess that there was this Guardian loitering, or something, before some of your actual good players came along and the 5 of them finally burst me down. So i guess, thanks for the tanking practice, but seriously when it takes 5+ and siege to take down one guard that isn’t even that great, well…

I thought it was supposed to rez players, but I think it only helps them back up from a downed state, and not defeated, which means the sig is useless IMHO.

The game is geared towards rewarding people who just straight play the game. This means that if you are interested in PvE stuff then definitely go out into your starter area and explore/do events as they pop. Clearing the hearts on the map get you nice chunks of XP and more importantly get you that much desired money/experience playing your character. I’ve found that between map opening the starter cities and LA and doing the level 1-15 areas for all the races that I can net some fairly decent money and levels (not to mention skill practice). Once you’ve gotten a hang of the basic and not so basic mechanics of the game and the classes, then I’d say use crafting or WvW as a leveling tool. By then you should have more than enough materials and silver/gold for that. (Which reminds me, gathering mats can net you some good early xp.)

Its part of the reason why i can’t really be mad if I get rolled by a random 20+ man zerg from another server on some nights because i know somewhere out there we have a 30+ man zerg doing the same thing that night or on another night. I’m just a altaholic that’s trying the learn the ins and outs of my main toons in WvW, so I welcome small and large numbers in fights. i figure the longer i can survive against larger groups, the better I’m getting.

Had some fun last night in my SF BL with my Guardian fighting that set of mezzies, thief and warrior. Thanks for helping me with some of the kinks in my form. I look forward to more stomping and getting stomped. (Its the only way to improve.)

Hopefully I’ll get a chance to jump on tonight after work. Had some fun the other night 1v1 with another guardian and then it became a 4 or 5v1, so not as fun.

Maybe I’ll get to do so again before this match is up.

Yeah, I only mention it cuz I tested it under my thief, but I WP’d out the moment I got in and confirmed that the exploit was valid and repeatable. I never stuck around because I think such tactics are screwed so yeah, I really hope they fix it sooner rather than later since I can see some serious abuse of it.

Dunno if that question was directed at me or not. I’m from SF, but talked with someone from HoD that saw their Bay get taken repeatedly with this glitch from a few different servers in the last few weeks. They reported the glitch and so did I, so we’ll see if it gets patched. I tested it to make sure it was not a fluke, but WP’d out after confirming that it worked. Anyone with a port (thieves, mezzies and Ele) can do it. :/ Just keep any out out for it and if you know anyone on your server that is exploiting it just bring them into check. I know i will if I know of anyone does it to take a keep.

Cheers to the new bud I made over on HoD. We had a nice discussion by Vale while others of my server took our BL back this morning and they clued me in to an exploit that they’ve seen some people use to get their Bay Keep. I tested it to be sure and yep, its a serious exploit. If I catch anyone using it to take the Bay keep I’ll be grabbing a screen and reporting them since its rather cheap.

Awesome fights out there tonight so far. I hope the rest of the week is as fun.

I voted for Kiel because I hate RNG boxes with a passionate loathing and I didn’t want to encourage the developers to think the majority of players have much interest in them.

This 100 times!!! This is my main reason for voting Kiel, with my second reason being that character wise she is “good” for LA. She is good PR and yes, a strong female character which is rare in games, period. Evon had some pluses in his favor (and about 40% of my votes went to him), but I just liked her better for the post, so she got most of my votes.

@Silver: Prob is everyone knows that coverage is our biggest weak point. We also had A LOT of WvW newcomers in our BL last night. Makes me want to get my tag sooner rather than later to help wrangle some of them on nights like last night.

I just wanted to thank those I encountered while roaming with my thief again. Both those I got to spike and for those that spiked me for helping me learn the ins and outs of the class for WvW. Seriously, they were some good lessons. Maybe someday I’ll get to be one of those thieves people curse about someday. Until then, gonna blow the dust off my guardian to get him ready for reset.

Had some fun earlier today in GoMs BL with my solo-roaming thief. Props to the Guardian that finally spiked me. I was wondering how much longer I could escape the spiking. And to the ranger: I would love to 1v1 one you without all the guards and quaggan next time.

Was def a fun reset for me last night. Practicing with my thief that just hit 80 recently. To the GoM that I came across last night at the SW Vista (rock) that waved to me, awesomeness. I was feeling a bit squishy since I’m used to playing guardian so thanks for not jumpin’ on me as I explored a bit with that toon. heh

Gotta agree a bit here with Xom (who has trounced my engie more than once in my BL over at Vale). AR is coming from a wounded POV and the painting that we did on reset was pretty severe, so I get where some of the vitriol is/was coming from. To that end, its a game guys and those that decided to vent/talk smack from AR just opened up (for better or for worse) a bigger monkey on their back. Sure SF doesn’t have a ton of “l33t” players, but we do have players, and they aren’t all mindless zergers either.

So in closing:
-To Xom and BS, I look forward to our encounters because you make me learn to be a better player when outnumbered.
-To AR, I hope you get your numbers back, but if you are going to be “down here” with us, remember that we like to have fun on SF and most if not all smack talk is for fun or retaliatory in nature.
- To the AR guild TWIN or TWN (honestly forgot how it was spelled), you have some awesome burst damage and caught my Guardian off guard on reset night. Kudos.
-TO SP peeps, lets keep it fun, but fair too. We like open field fights so lets get some in there. No harm in breaking up large groups into smaller ones for some good fighting, right?

I wish I had that many burgers to eat some days. alas I just have days where I get tired of running Dollies and taking back camps and just want to lob fireballs and boomies on people as they enter or leave that camp or when a big enough group is trying to push on the south door of Bay. Makes for setting up a good counter wipe.

As someone that likes to hit invaders with that mortar from Bay, its not done to wipe, but to annoy and make larger groups break up. Of course it won’t dish out enough to kill a handful of players.

I never got to play much with you in WvW, but remember seeing you in action once and was fairly impressed. Sorry to see you go, but I hope to learn as much as I can from your vids for my mez so she will be ready for WvW. Until then, my other alts will have to do. Here’s to hoping you grace us again in GW2 sometime in the future.

We are a small and starting guild that is family and new player friendly. We are looking for fun and casual players that like their game without tons of stress and who are looking to help build up a fun and helpful guild.

We are primarily PvE for now, but hope to expand on that as we grow in size and look forward to being known as a generally helpful bunch. I want us to be known as that guild with the members that are always there to join in and help get things done!
