I dunno, tripling the guardian can lead to interesting choices in utilites, for example chaining stability with shouts come to mind.
Also triple empower = lots of might I guess. And if you set your three walls just right you can split the zerg and create somewhat safe “killzone”
This sounds kind of interesting, you obviously need right situation for this to work but I am gonna try talking my guardian friend into this :p
edit: i checked wiki recently and 25stacks of might is about ~800 power. DAUM
if you use shatter without illusions, you only get like 3 sec cooldown
bah quote broken for me again so: Why would you switch to anything? You get your big heal as toolbelt ability and the fury would be used preemptively before engaging. It takes literally one second.
hmm never had this problem, but I use this turrent as a regular heal – drop the turret and instantly pick it up. Only when I need condition cleanse I will pop it, use the cleanse and pick it up.
op as a mesmer you should have summoned your illusions and let them finish him or let them keep him downed while you wait and heal.
The fact that I was playing a mesmer is beside the point, as not everybody can keep damaging a target without actively engaging. However, let’s assume I would have run away to heal up, pretend I still had phantasms out and not used them to finish him to keep him downed. 15+ seconds later I would have come back to a mesmer in downed state and 2 illusionary rogues or a revived mesmer, if an ally had shown up while I was recovering.
as a mesmer you should know what opposing mesmer can do you to you, you knew the rogue is coming and yet you let him stab you in the back for huge damage. If the hit was not in the back, yes, something is very wrong, but this was easily avoidable by simply turning around or killing the rogue.
Yes 6k damage is a lot, so maybe it needs a bit of balancing, but then again this is a hit from behind
why going elixir H? I would prefer to get med kit so you can get nice fury on demand without blowing your stun breaker.

anyway it’s hard to tell as phantasms are part of weapon skills and with any combination of weapons you will have two phantasms at your disposal.

I am glad I picked asura for my engi, for some reason the backpack on him has very reasonable size (I mean proportionaly to the asura), on anything else it’s ridiculously large, like you want to go camping for a month.
okay okay, I understand that ANET wants PvE and sPvP separated, but I think there could be couple of ways do this:
For example, since this game doesn’t have rested xp, there could be rested xp for gaining glory in spvp – for example you gain one glory rank and now you will get double xp for one level in pve (or more levels, since glory is so much slower to get than xp). This would need to be probably bound to character (so only glory gained by that character would yield him this xp bonus).
Second thing seems even simpler to me – just let me buy golds for glory. You can trade them for gems and buy xp boosters or you can buy better armor.
Strange, I almost exclusively salvage copper chest and I got fair share of both slivers and crystals, they are still very very rare but they do drop for me.
Direct damage seems to have upper hand in most areas – PvE boss mobs with hard stack cap, structures ignoring crits and conditions entirely…

yeah its highdmg vs squishys. but after this burst u have a long recharge time and u’re squishy as hell too
btw is this spec old. funny to play but imo useless in teamfights.

why is everyone so negative, long recharge? 15 sec on shatter is longest, unless you go under 50% health, everything else is lower

I went power for my nade engi too, I feel that conditions from nades aren’t applied enough to justify going condition, I mean what do you have, couple stacks of bleed on cooldown and bleed and burn proc from traits.
However each grenades gives vulnerability, even those from barage, so you can easily get crazy stacks of vulnerability which will further help your power damage.
Word of advice, you pan and zoom too much in that video.

I understand that for people who would really like to see the state of health it could get annoying, but the only time I do it for a full fight is at the very start. The rest of my zooms are just for certain parts of fights to showcase something, so the health is only being hidden for a short amount of time.

yeah it was a bit annoying, but then I realized that it was just an intro so it was okay, maybe just telegraph somehow that we are only looking at the intro and are not “meant” to watch the skills yet

Actually you can when you lose your target, very annoying as the skills don’t show the red bar.
Also out of LoS when still having a target will make your summoning fail.

I really hope they will do something with the stealth delay, that alone will help a great deal against thieves. Next imo is death blossom, I usually defended thieves when my friends got killed by them, I always felt like there was something that could have been done, but not on death blossom.
What can you do when on every skill you get “evaded”? How do you counter it?
how do you deal with conditions? since you slotted elixir H I am assuming cleansing formula 40whatever ?
Aside the fun factor for me as engineer, I did realise one thing though:
I was imagining watching this as a non GW2 player, and I figured I wouldn’t get the slightest idea of what was going on, at all…If they’re serious about an E-sport, they will have issues getting an audience outside of the ones already pvp’ing in the game itself.

I think this is true for every game, I watched some WoW vids and had no clue what’s going on, I didn’t even know if the guy does good damage because of the inflated health pools.

I tried the search but didn’t work for me, so what’s the point of different chest rarities, do you get better stuff from gold ones? Cause it sure doesn’t feel like it. Also the chance would have to be more than 5x bigger to justify the price difference between gold and copper and well, sure doesn’t feel so.

I will admit though, I’m not a big fan of the portal use for the glamour confusion, because it requires running into the zerg for placement. This can get very tricky.
I guess you could plant portal entre, rush the zerg (with blink or stealth) drop the exit and port away

Interesting post but I disagree with the last statement, cooldown system without resource is something truly original among the MMOs (fairly common in moba games maybe) and “iniative” system is what most of the MMOs have (they just call it mana or power)

About the armor, you can go to the Heart of the Mists, find PvP locker and preview pretty much every armor in the game, so you can get good picture if there is something you would like.
Also when you steal the fat stack of boons with arcane thievery, you could use signet of inspiration to share them with your party.
I am not talking max range either, maybe I am remembering it wrong but I seriously had nothing happen on 300-400 range. When I am using this skill I always expect that it will probably fail.
I actually had someone start rezzing me, stop halfway through and start rezzing my clone… >.<

While we’re talking about Portal, why does the duration of it seem a lot shorter than the 60 sec start and 20 sec exit time? I swear it’s less than that. :/ I’m even traited to make Glamour skills last longer.

Btw when you use portal, good idea is to look at the time (especially in pvp) so you have rough idea when does it run out.

Traited right, you can get 21 stacks of confusion (if I remember correctly) with five blinds, two dodges, and 6 evasions to rotate through on your bar.EDIT: My mistakes 20 stacks of illusion, just checked
Potentially more, since whenever they pass through a glamour field they get two more stacks of confusion and blind.
care to post this build? I was toying with the idea of confusion mesmer, I know it’s less powerful than bleeding but I like the idea of enemy killing himself
hmm weird, I always try to make sure I am in range when I cast it and it still fails for me from time to time, I don’t know if the clone is instagibbed by some random aoe but often the skill goes on cooldown and nothing happens.
Okay, ileap + swap is a great thing to stop that pesky runner and give him some of that blurred frenzy (no your stunbreaker doesn’t remove immobilize :p) but lots of times it just fails without making the clone, sometimes the clone stops halfway through and sometimes does something even else stupid.
So any tips how to consistently pull this off? Something I should be careful about?

heya, what do you think about illusionary persona? It seems very useful for shatter build.
power won’t help you much with staff, you would want condition damage and for support boon duration.
With staff you should be able to consistently keep fury on your melees and some nice stacks of might to boot. I would definately go for elasticity (forgot the trait name but it says that your bounce attack will bounce one more time) = one more buff for your melees.
Hey hey, thanks for this build, it worked really great for me. I always shattered my illusions for the last burst but if they failed to kill him I was really vulnerable; your approach works much better for me. Also I love that I can immediately focus another target and my phantasms will keep pressure on the downed guy.
Also I wasn’t fan of GS, but izerker + ranged autoattack = win

I have to agree, this fight was pain, especially when I Had to do it 3 times (screwed up once and it bugged the second time).
Atm I think it’s best to bring a friend who just stays in the middle and DPS’s the eye immediately after every round, like this you can get him down pretty quickly.
what I really don’t like is the lack of control, proc chance off of a crit and then huge cooldown, that’s just so much randomness that by murphys law it will go off when you don’t need it and vice versa
