As the title above say, will there be a Holiday discount for HoT expansion?
I’d like to buy a second account and was wondering if I could save a bit of money in the process. A quick dev response would be much appreciated.
Cheers.
I just hit this wall myself, and holy heck it’s not fun.
I completely agree with the OP.
And this thread has nothing to do with impatiency. I myself have created 6 legendaries and was never rushing with them, but instead taking it slow as the materials pilled up without any rush or pressure to make them as fast as humanly possible.
This is just a shallow way of making a progression towards an in game item.
And this is just the 1st collection. Can’t even dare to think what wait us on others.
Does anyone mind posting the reasoning behind this?
I mean, besides the usuall disrespectful attitude from SOME members from the forementioned guild, towards the community.
What did a broke Asuran say to the merchant?
“I am short on cash.”
So, I just got queued in ranked 4 times in a row against full pre – made teams as full solo team, with few occasional 2 man parties. Twice in which these teams are actually top tier players that play ESL on a weekly basis (on TS queuing as a team). My MMR is somewhat high, but I doubt it is that much since I am still an average player, giving the fact I don’t play as much as these dudes do.
My question is, are the developers actually aware of the dis balance they have created when merging Solo queue and Team queue? I mean, obviously, your faulty matchmaking is not doing a proper job of queuing players fairly against one another, so there has to be something done about it, right? Or have you shrunk the PvP player base so much with bad in game implementations, that the matchmaking itself just says: "Screw it, just put the level 20 player against a ESL champ so we can say that our queue times are relatively short (5 minutes)?
I am actually baffled that this is going on for so long.
Venting aside, I am legitimately wondering if there are any plans to, at least, somewhat address this. Separating Solo / Team Q? Improving matchmaking? Anything?
Because, this is driving, at least, me, from PvP, and I am fairly sure I am not alone in this boat.

thief complaining about taunt……….man I will kill you even without it easily……and druid? well something tells me it will be certainly better than daredevil, dragonhunter and tempest altogether………hello Karl
Complaining? Are you blind or just plain illiterate? I was not complaining at any point about rangers. You might want to read my post once again. Rangers are irrelevant to me in this subject, nor in general. In fact, rangers are pretty much thief’s food in 5v5 ranked matches. So stop trying to talk about your profession in general, as no one cares and it’s not what this discussion is about.
The subject being discussed here is taunt going through evades. Which is a bug, without any arguments to discard that. Grouch himself confirmed so.
P.S. I’d like to see you try.
(edited by Predator.9214)
There is no constructive discussion to be had.
Taunt is the only condition / skill that is not dodgeable and it will get a fix, according to Grouch’s post and rightfully so.
Your ranger tears are the ones digressing from the subject. Not a discussion about rangers, but a taunt.
Don’t cry too much though, maybe Druid will be good for you rangers. If they even release it at all. Huehuehue
(edited by Predator.9214)
Well, all discussion is pointless since Grouch just a minute ago wrote on OE’s stream that the undodgeable taunt will be getting a fix.
Rest in pieces rangers, hope you enjoyed your broken condition while it lasted.
Any ETA on when and if the Toxic gauntlets / shoulderpads will be released in the Gem store again?
And Grenth’s Hood?
Would appreciate any answers, thanks.
Bump.
This needs adressing.
I cannot wait to get a chance to use my croak and dagger in HoT expansion.
Showing support by bumping this thread.
This has gone too far without being adressed.
Engis seem to be getting a hammer as a weapon, and the only reason I cannot be fully esctatic to try this out is because I know these ugly bags on our characters’ backs will make the excitement go away pretty quickly.
Fix the kitten ed hobosacks.
I agree with OP, supply crate is unbalanced and needs a buff.
Increase the stun duration to 5s, and make turrets mobile. They can also be reskinned into little robots instead of putting wheels on turrets. And lower CD to 45 seconds.
Side note: If you cannot see the sarcastic / trollish tone of this whole thread…
(edited by Predator.9214)
Same problem here.
Screw testing the new system, right?
This really does sound like a “learn to play” issue to me.
Also, as one of the posters said, your opinion is completely biased, you could notice that you were a necromancer a miles away.
Update: Did not help at all. And it’s not even peak hours. I picked the game up at 5pm CET.
I’d be curious to see if starting the game client with the “-clientport 80” argument helps your PvP latency issue. There’s been a lot of talk that using that helps with throttling of your connection during EU peak hours.
-Bill
I appreciate the answer.
I searched around for what this “-clientport 80” argument is, came across this thread. Is this the instructions I should be following? https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/10-5-11-2130-101-closed-connections/first#post77719
Also, the instructions state that I should insert “clientport 80” instead of “-clientport 80.” I’d appreciate a clarificarion on that as well so I can try this method out tonight.
Edit: Never mind, I just read that argument lines “/clientport:80” & “-clientport 80” are the same. I’ll update tonight to see if this solves the issue.

I would not ever necro a thread, but I am so desperate that I’d rather do this then open a new thread & need some sort of help or suggestions to what to do.
For the past full 2 weeks, I simply cannot play PvP anymore as intended. I am on Europe and every time around 7 CET, which is my usual play time I am met with massive lag spikes, freezes, catch ups and overall skill lag (up to 3s, not exaggerating).
I’ve checked all the other games that I play that require internet connection, and all are working fine. I even contacted my internet provider just to make sure it is not my internet. It isn’t. Honest word.
I literally cannot play the game, and as of this moment I am just “forced” to drop it and play something else instead.
Any update on what it the heck is going on with these horrible lagging issues?
Update: This is literally pathetic. 15s lag spikes until I am on the ground dead. If only half of the finances are spent into server maintenance instead of “Living Story” or other games no one cares about, we would have had a great game in our hands.
(edited by Predator.9214)
I’ll give it a 1/10, too obvious.
Back on topic dudes. I was hoping to hear more about the player’s opinions whether hobosacks are useful for a counter play, and suggestions that players can come up with as well.
Also, keep the thread bumped guys, until we finally influence the removal of the forementioned “problem”.
Allright now.
The changes are definitely another step in the wrong direction, but when I first saw it, I thought to myself: “Meh, not the best news in the world, but I’ll manage, I’ll adjust. They are a business after all”.
But the answer given to the playerbase to why these changes were made is the biggest load of crap I have heard in quite a along time.
Do you really think your players are that kittened? Seriously, one cannot succumb to not ranting after treating your playerbase like a bunch of slack jawed gas huffers who are unable to press more than a number “1” key or navigate through one of the simplest UIs provided for the, said, players.
First the “New Player Experience” patch, where you basically simplify the leveling process to a point a where I think my little 2 year old cousin can blitz through.
And now, this change. Devs, it’s okay to say: “We are a business, we have to earn money in one way or another.” But for the love of God, STOP thinking your playerbase is so stupid, that they can’t find a way to handle a simple UI & see through your bullcrap explanations for making changes such as this one.
Non rant suggeation: Combine old & new systems together. Add a slider at the bottom of the both conversion sides, and allow players to convert the amouts they themselves wish to.
Unless it’s something super awesome, don’t do this to us, Mr. Smith.
Whoever kind of heads up this movement, I have a thought out suggestion.
Let’s keep this going, but I also propose someone start a thread in profession balance.
Topic: “Hobosacks don’t influence balance.”
If we make good discussion there, there’s a chance it will be seen.
Basically, the point of the thread will show that they can remove hobosaks without fear of imbalance.
Maybe that’s the hurdle we should get over. So. Who will do it? Whoever does it, please post the link here and we need to make strong arguments.
I opened a thread similair to this recently in this sub forum, as I myself think as well their biggest gripe with removing the hobosacks is “balance issues”.
Feel free to charm in if you have thoughts and suggestions how developers can keep the balance and remove them once and for good.
People have proposed having an icon for them for like 2 years. Nobody cared. One dev dude said he thought replacing them with a fanny pack was a good idea.
Don’t get your hopes up.
This is the kind of posts I was talking about. I understand it can be dissapointing when our wishes / requests are not emediatelly or never granted, but posts like this really discourages constructive discussion and probably developers themselves to charm in on it.
On another note, I also like the “handheld items” idea as well to signify what kit is equipped at the given moment. Although, still pretty sure the “toolbar icon” wouldn’t be as cluttering as some might think.
Short intro: Reason for this thread being opened is to have a constructive discussion about the one of the engi’s most painful spots: hobosacks. Other thread shows how many of us are there that dislike it from a visual point of view, and one thing that I have been taught while browsing the forums is that the best way to get ArenaNet’s attention is to have a constructive discussion, with useful feedback. As the other thread kind of only presents the disatisfaction about it as a visual item.
Now, I propose that we give the constructive feedback about this problem from a balance point of view.
Do you, as a player, think that removing hobosacks will introduce the imbalance in the game? Especially in a competetive environment, where seeing what your opponent does is key to countering? Do you, as an opposing class, whilst fighting an engineer, find seeing hobosacks cruical to your defense and counterplay?
Leave your thoughts and suggestions, again, in a constructive manner, as I think, as stated, this the best way to get developers’ attention. And please, leave the inflammatory and sarcastic posts for elsewhere, as it ruins the foundation for intelligent discussion.
Also, devs, don’t be afraid to join in, as it’s been now almost 2 years since we presented this “problem” to you.
I’ll leave my quick thoughts about the matter: As someone who mains a thief, besides an elementalist & an engineer, I do agree that knowing what the opponent does is crucial, especially as a thief. Do I find hobosacks helpful for my counterplay? Hardly. Because, it’s really hard to tell the difference between them, even if I play engineer myself, and know exactly how they look. And, they really look alike, and it rarely provides me with feedback as an opponent what kit is engineer equipping at the given moment. Guns do. As well as the character’s animations. They are quite noticable and they are the ones that give me more information over hobosacks. As far as the grenade kits, this is where we need to come up with a solution / suggestion.
Solution suggestion: Completely remove the hobosacks and add the “toolbar icon” for every kit, similair to elementalist’s attunements. And everyone is happy. I hope.
What are your thoughts?

LOL, I just finished a match in SoloQ with 2 random temmates with this guildtag. Me and my guildie, who synched, emediatelly asked for an invite.
Also, earlier today, he “away from keyboard-ed” twice on me after 30s of a match. Poor soul.
That video actually had me laughing. Entertaining.
As for the topic duscussion, I won’t involve too much, since I am also entertained by the fact that developers do not give a sweet kitten about the outcry from the communty about the “Feature Pack” “update” and / or more bug introductions.
This bug is very serious and it should be adressed as soon as possible. Stomping was always responsive and fluid, and having it delay itself or constantly being unresponsive is somewhat gamebreaking for PvP. I am really hoping for a hotfix because in my opinion, even with the “workarounds” available, this bug should be one of the priorities to fix.
We just need to have the developers be aware of this bug.
I suggest title change to a title with something that consists of either “delay” or “lag” or “unresponsiveness”. Also keeping this post bumped is a good idea.
Edit: Never mind, just found a buried red thread that shows developers’ awareness of this bug. Link: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/DS-stomp-res-buged/first#post4381765

Awesome stuff. Thanks for all the replies.
Good sale this time around btw, a lot of cool stuff appeared this morning in the gem store alongside Rox’s Quiver.
I find this quite amusing. I tend to not follow the crowd just for the reasons of “huge crowd does it, so why not me as well”, but I am glad to see this in game protest is happening, even tho’ it won’t achieve anything.
I do support the attempt nontheless.
I am pretty much in the same spot. Was never a huge fan of SAB, but got my fair share of play time in it and enjoyed it even tho’ I don’t care too much for 8bit stuff and so called “nostalgic” types of games / mini games.
But there is, as mentioned in this thread, absolutely NO kitten reason for SAB not to be there as permanent content, giving the fact how positive of a feedback it has gotten.
The reason given in the interview linked in one of the threads are one of the dumbest reasons I’ve ever heard the developers utter.
Let’s not forget that SAB ended with a story cliffhanger and the Gem store item Infinite Coin, making this decision of not bringing SAB back even more mind boggling to me.
I am interested in buying this item from the Gem store as it will complete the look of the character I have, and my question is: will it come back to Gem store and be available for purchase?
I understand it’s hard to get the direct answers from the developers themselves, so I am curious to know whether Rox’s Quiver ever appeared in the Gem store after the Flame and Frost patch back in the day, and is there a chance for it to ever appear again?
Thanks in advance for answering.
I 100% agree with this post.
This map promotes the most pathetic builds available. Just now I finished up a match against a team with GS / Focus off hand mesmer, de – cap engees (2 of them), & 2 Hammer / Shield Off hand guardians, all focusing ONLY on knocking down the opponents off the map. The match was dragged along since none of these “players” actually contributed to their team really and ended up losing, but the match was close because couple of our guys insisted coming back up to the Skyhammer, to get revenge, only to end up on the bottom of the map.
Also the Skyhammer laser, even tho’ it has couple of seconds cast time, does way too much damage.
To conclude, without trying to complain too much & with withholding a lot of frustration, this pathetic map needs it’s way out of the Solo queue.
Keep it for those morons farming ranks for whatever reason.
I can confirm that this system is flawed.
Just now I disconnected from a match that we were winning, & minute after, came back with the de – buff.
So I can understand the frustration if you are really not the type of guy to leave if losing.
As far as I am concerned, I am happy that the system is in the game, but it needs to find, if possible, a way to separate disconnects from Alt + F4-ers.They can’t, it will be abused.
If they made it so that way only people who close the game get penalized, people would start turning their firewall to block all connections or pull network cable to abuse it.
Only rated PvP has this issue you can still play hot joins if you want
As soon as I wrote that, I realized that it is probably next to impossible to determine if it’s a disconnect / power going off or people abusing the “Alt + F4 / internet cable unplug”. With that said, the system is still flawed, since there is no way to determine the real reason.
But all that aside, I couldn’t careless if I was banned for 2 days from Arena after legitimate disconnect on a match that I was winning. The problem I personally have is the red de – buff sitting on your name like a god kitten mark of shame.
During the 2 days of being stuck with it, whoever you get in touch with in game, 1st thing people do is link the de – buff in chat. Whether you can laugh away or take the jokes being thrown you way, this gets very frustrating after a while, especially if you are not really guilty of charge, and have to explain to everyone what happen. Luckily, I am in a friendly small guild group, so I evaded that annoyance, but I could only imagine the frustrations you would come across if you join a random party, open world, PvP or dungeon ones.
The whole point of my post is, if you can’t for certain determine the reason of a disconnect, and have to ban the person, fine, whatever but at least remove the red, very noticeable de – buff from people’s names so you’re not sitting there with a mark of shame for two days whenever you log on.
I can confirm that this system is flawed.

I still demand that these exploits which have been known for month to be fixed and the exploiters to be punished.
Oh so you “demand”? Well, that’s a totally different picture then.
Is this EU or US?
I would like an invite for this event too, whenever you have slots / space or in need of people. I have full access to mulitple VOIPs, so communicating with me will not be an issue.
Hopefully I can join you guys from time to time.
PM me here on in game if “interested”.
Thanks.
When I read that last part:
You have been warned.
It sounds like a threat. It is just unnecessary to have that line.
I get that you want people to curb the insults and such, but maybe instead of being aggressive about it, you should be more professional about it. Sinking to their level isn’t a good way to get your point across.
This. Was gonna say something like this, but this gentleman has beat me to the punch.
Just because you are “thin skinned” and / or cannot take the more harsh comments, posts (with all do respect and with the fact that this is totally fine), does not mean you need to stoop to the same level as some of these comments and basically threaten the whole forum community.
Very annoyed by this last sentence, and this is coming from someone who is always objective while posting / discussing.
Can we get an official response why this is the case?
I am curious though. Doesn’t make any sense. SAB achievements have returned without any issues, and large vast of players were happy with the fact they got a chance to catch up. Why go different route with this Living Story update? I am really not the one to bash or complain, but this really does not seem like a logical thing or like it has some understandable reasoning behind it.
I find this thread quite amusing.
Dev makes a “copy – paste” post to discourage inflammatory and derogatory posts by forum members, results = oil to the fire and achieves quite the opposite.
And now the well known ArenaNet development team pattern: Lesson learned from it? Hardly any at all. No disrespect intended.
Don’t mind me tho’, just observing.
It’ been a while since I’ve been so amused by one thread.
Officially the dumbest / funniest thread to date.
Okay guys, even tho’ his grammar is catastrophic, and has an option to leave the discussion if he dislikes it, I agree with “Broadicea”. This conversation is heading no where and is pretty pointless.
I guess I just wanted to say my opinion and somewhat defend myself and other guild members who don’t deserve this hate, giving the fact that you guys were all over HC like who knows what has been done.
Anyway I apologize if I caused discomfort, and hopefully we can somehow in future find a unanimous language, as my people would say.
Cheers.

How nice of you to keep everyone on main topic.
As you can see I failed miserably. Got sucked in the vortex of hate and unnecessary rage towards the guild leader.
It’s not even the guild leader specifically. It’s just general distaste after drama stirred up between guilds. You’re trying to defend Shadeus, when it’s not Shadeus that people are necessarily directing the dislike towards.
For me personally, I wouldnt have a problem if Debby didn’t act like a BHB whenever we submitted something with FGS involved.
Quote from Debby: “[rT] tactics: steal other guild’s tactics, add ele for fiery GS, dont give credit, and grow Epe*n.”
I guess that is directed at a different rT, probably an NA guild or something.
I said I can’t vouch for what Debby says, that’s something that falls on her head, but I am curious though, when and where has this been said?
So which rt is he talking about then?
Where was the name “rT” been mentioned in his videos? Or anyone’s for that matter?
Name “rT” came up after hateful approach of the “rT” members towards the discussion on reddit and YouTube video(s).I don’t care about the video, didn’t even watch it. I fail to understand how not talking about us in one video justifies calling us casual/zero skill.
Honestly, if people in my guild did same I would seriously consider either kicking them or leaving (if kicking failed).
You fail to understand obviously.
Then my guess is that you are referring to something that has been said in heat of the backfiring at each other. Which I will not touch on, since all of you (including HC members) were having a pointless and derailed discussion. With lots of negativity added.
As far as your principle of kicking “rebellious” members, you might wanna start sweeping over guild list then. No disrespect intended.
How nice of you to keep everyone on main topic.
As you can see I failed miserably. Got sucked in the vortex of hate and unnecessary rage towards the guild leader.
Indeed, they posted in general discussion, next to the “Coasters For the Kids. A CHARITY” and “Champion Farming” threads.
Their guild name is kinda ironical since this game is purely directed towards casuals. Casuals of the world, unite!
And this is me cutting back on your derailing posts.
Because posting in general discussion where you have scrubs fighting over who farms champions faster is a great way to start a proper discussion about dungeons, right? Not to mention the thread was like “Is fgs an exploit and why do you not agree with me?” Proper way to do that is to start discussion here.
And this game is purely directed towards casuals.
Off topic in an already derailed thread. Just when I thought it cannot get worse.
So which rt is he talking about then?
Where was the name “rT” been mentioned in his videos? Or anyone’s for that matter?
Name “rT” came up after hateful approach of the “rT” members towards the discussion on reddit and YouTube video(s).
“we do not even see this as a record, looks more like having sum fun in casual gameplay.”
“if you look at rt’s 13sec lupi kill there’s 0 skill involved”And then do you expect us to reply nice?
Again, I will repeat myself, what has been said in reedit is pointless backfiring at each other with no mentions of having a normal discussion and actual original topic discussion. And not focusing on the core issue here.
You (as in “rT”) feeling called out, while in reality you were not even at a back of his mind, and hateful approach to a forementioned reedit “discussion”.
And getting backfired in same manner.
It’s a reminder.
Reminder that this discussion should be taking place on Reedit?
I was the one who asked numerous times that this conversation should be reversed to it’s original state.
If so, I have couple of reminders of my own.
