I still went from 95% down to like 15-25%. Interesting…
Please move this to trading post sticky thread. I see now that it’s already been posted. I didn’t notice this since it was moved as a sticky.
So, I’m clicking on armor that displays as 1.7 silver. Then when it pulls it up, it says 15 silver. Had already clicked “buy” as I logically assumed it was the price it displayed on the first screen and there went literally half my newer characters cash…. So I clicked on a different item that showed as 4 silver, and on the following screen, it says 1.3 silver.
I tried a different set of master gloves, displayed as 4 silver, showed up as 11 after you click on them…I already lost 14 silver in this manner, hopefully no one else does…
Note this isn’t just an issue of price inflation, as I’m confirming theres items available…its just bugging/tripping on price…as I said, some items are displaying higher, then when clicked on show lower. Example: lvl 20 malign chain gauntlets, healing chain gauntlets.
(show as 1.57 and when you click on them to buy it displays 15.7)
I have noticed this off and on, and it is a bummer, because your health doesn’t refill and you can’t jump worth a darn. And on cursed, my body glows majestically lol…
And on the bright side it wasn’t a total loss, as I did get a very valuable 6 total mithril, from the 4 rare lvl 75-80 weapons, and the two lvl 80 rare armor pieces netted 2 silk scraps, and a leather piece. Not a total loss compared to the 1.3 gold I could have sold the 5 at…. òó
I think I’ll save up the next 44 or so, as instead of getting 30 mithril, and 12 pieces of silk, I’ll make a video of my 50 or so tries to get some random legendary thing out of the lottery forge. =Þ I think I’ll have better odds. Maybe ‘better’ isn’t the right word, as less terrible.
I’ve read lots of ‘thoughts’ and assumptions that there was a quote: “ninja-nerf” to the forge.
I’ve only actually read from developers that there was a change to prevent lower leveled items (such as lvl 65) from allowing a weapon to be forged, but seen nothing in relation to a change to the lottery chance to get one. Could a dev confirm whether the random %chance has truly been modified, or can someone else link where it was confirmed/denied?
Are you sure?
I went from getting 1-3 ecto (using master, and black lion kits) and literally in the last little less then a week, went to having 1 out of 6 give me an ecto.
Could be a craftable recipe that’s off a karma vendor? Take note, that numerous skins aren’t actually accurate on gwdb per one of the Dev’s.
You’ll also find this a LOT with zone completion. 9 times out of 10 I got medium or heavy armour, and I needed light. In other games this might be an issue, and at first, I was just vendoring it off, or throwing it in the bank for if/when I had another character that could use it, even though had I been able to wear it, it would have been a nice upgrade.
But slap that puppy on the trading post, and purchase the equivalent. You pay your 15% trading fee (5% listing fee and 10% tax) and get what you actually can use. But your average green/blue I always sell to the vendor, at no cost, vs putting on the Trading post at a 15% loss. And I salvage all white, as the ‘mats’ you get back are usually worth more then the white item.
That or you can purchase a guild backpack if your guild has an armourer which does seem to function and allow upgrades.
Chrysacola Orbs are made from:
-5x Piles of Incandescent Dust
-2x Chrysacola Crystals
By the time your at COF, you should already be past 70 to even do the storyline let alone 75 to do the explorer mode. Not far off from the lvl 78 the OP Asked about.
I don’t think there would be an issue by adding pvp alternatives. I think people WANT to play team deathmatch, capture the flag, and the like. Territories is one of the most boring game types and can’t even be classified as pvp. Its “objective”, not “Team Slayer”.
So, albeit fighting is involved, it’s not the focus, and we absolutely need more game types.
I’m feeling the emotions of the OP, as my friends and I are already getting bored, which is sad as I felt like GW1 had MUCH more replayability, and better PVP right out of the gate…so other then a prettier face, I’m feeling this game is not as good as the first for now.
What makes this even worse, is you just don’t feel the ‘town comraderie" that you did in gw1. With a million instances, and half the people invisible to help increase fps problems by the devs, it just doesn’t have the same feel in the towns. No one cares about that legendary you are working so hard for, when no one can see you half the time unless they are 5 feet away.
Being a jewler as well, I can confirm you get it as part of your story line, if my memory proceeds me around lvl 10ish.
And your level 78 exotic is better then a level 80 rare =)
You can get a full suit for the price of 2 pieces. Then when you Can afford lvl 80 exotics, you can then salvage the others for hopes at ecto and rare mats =)
Actually, just simply locking up can cause that, if it was right in the middle of a sound clip.
My nintendo wii locks up randomly and does the same “buzz” through my tv speakers…
=P
It’s freezing in a state it wasn’t intended, and is sending power to the speaker out port.
Lowering the in game graphics, just allows the temps to go lower. And 5 hrs vs 30 can simply be how hot the ambient temperature is in your home, and how intense the thing your doing in the game is taxing the system, aka running around fields killing things, vs doing a frostgorge dragon with 50 sum people on the map.
A good software is HWMonitor to monitor temps of the motherboard, cpu, and gpu.
See what your temps are with highest settings you can run and low and see what your case temps are like.
Comp Shuts off after 20 minutes / new graphics card.

The reason underclocking helps, is because it lowers temps on your card, which lowers temps on everything else. And people stating “oh 45-50 isnt that high” actually it is. And Regardless of people going hotter, it’s still hot. Certain motherboards, and certain components just do not like the heat, and some can take it quite well.
It’s also possible that your Bios has an ‘auto off’ protection for a certain heat range of your motherboard and cpu, and is powering down to protect itself. It definitely could simply be a voltage issue, but that’s an expensive guess. No question that the new power cards are in fact power hungry, and its doubtful a 500 watt will do the trick.
But in addition, even with it getting all the juice it wants, it sounds like you might need to look at maybe more case fans, or higher powered ones, if you don’t want to force downclocking to keep the temps down for your current setup. I’d check Newegg for a good price on a power supply…I know my Radeon 6870 hasn’t been happy with mine…
It sounds like someone is spending a bittt to much time admiring their characters… =P
All jokes aside…A few ideas in the interim should this not be implemented..(Not a bad idea btw)
1) oogle ‘admire’ them after being logged on.
1) Transmute that hideous helm, for something small and hardly noticeable. (I despise the ugly mushroom/hood looking hat for my ele…but there’s one that looks like incredibly small diamonds that are barely noticeable. Albeit the stats were worthless, but that’s what transmutations are for….
Another point that was brought up, rather then wiping a mob, if you are truly doing it for karma/exp vs loot, your contribution is designed to be a bit lower in this zone, so hitting just a few mobs and moving on to the next event is sufficient. I would get between silver and gold for turning in like, 2 apples, when 20 were needed as an example. And in Queens, the “stubborn bull” that you have to wack a few times, put out fires for, etc, even a minor 5%-10% contribution is enough. And you don’t get a “extra” bonus for doing more then your fair share and are actually wasting your time, so long as there are others around to finish it.
They also mentioned they will not flat out describe how how it works, but will elaborate and be a bit more clear, since it is directly impacting the way people feel they can play.
Wouldn’t the alternative be stored in the forums database as well though?
Also, i read that each item is supposed to have an alternative…so possibly a statue instead of a gift of exploration might work?
Sometimes low level and crafted gear looks nicer than dungeon gear, depending upon taste. So you can get the dungeon gear for the stats/price via tokens, but because you did it via a dungeon, it also gives back gold and karma…and then you can buy the armour you want for the skins, and transmute the armour. Even the Cultural gear isn’t exotic, so this will still be applicable. I would go for full exotics in armour and jewelry as it definitely makes a difference.
Also, look at getting a level 80 rare backpack. (guild backpack) and a level 80 re-breather.
Well, in that sense you may just want to try to find a non legendary exotic…if that’s the case =( Or pick a diff class to farm your legendary…
For the record, on my male ele, with armour that doesnt cover it, iF you are looking at him straight on, you can see this as well.
Guys, I posted, to let everyone else know, that doing it with Orichalum Crafted amulets makes squat didly at my own expense of a good 5 gold to make. I tried 4 different orichalum amulets, with a mix of eldritch scroll, phos stones, and cyrstals. Was just trying to save people from the cost of trying that one.
Jewlery crafting just went out the window due to this find =/
Thanks Linsey for clearing this up! It’s good to know that Zomorros just hates us instead =)
Appreciate the reply…
But since that was already posted on here…
Sometimes it helps to know what DOESN’T work though. Especially when there’s no way to test crafted items short of making them first. This cost around 5 gold, so I’m sparing other’s from the expense.
That, and its 5 gold cost to craft my test, vs say 80 or so to craft those. =)
And hooray for my master and black lion salvage kit not giving me anything savlaging rares but silk and ore..but that’s another thread…
Yeah, I agree that the 250 stack is a better run. Just everything I read with mystic clovers, everyone was a fan of the higher percentage with the lower recipe, so figured I’d give that a go. I’m again, still poor, and bounce between 3-5 gold, having not ever ‘rick rolled’ off the TP. So, I don’t really have money to play with heh. As you said, I’ve seen the prices bounce all over, just like supply and demand should…and I could have probably ran this differently if it wasn’t for testing purposes.
I’ll try it again later, with a purposeful test of being more patient. But definitely it takes money to make money….and I’ll probably wait a bit as my char is having some bad luck…
Last 5 rares have not given ectos, and threw a few gold at buying rares, and only got rares in return, and I just dont have the gold to keep throwing to get exotics. Will be more fun to try it once I get a bigger nestegg.
If you look at the tool tips for some of the graphic changes, one of them specifically mentions particle effects I believe, and a few other items. I would hover over each one of the items in the combo boxes (drop down boxes) as well as the check boxes…
You might also try changing the aliasing to off, or turning it on to 4xaa or whatever the option is…I would just play with all those, as some make a big difference, and some make things refresh horribly…
Jeez. Talk about a ton of unfounded speculation and baseless accusation.
Bots farm. Bots are good at farming, its what they do. Players farm too. Players farm better than bots. Don’t go grumbling at anti-bot code when you’ve been doing the same things as bots, that is, farming. (Is the code perfect? Doubtful – It’s a new product and the code is low visibility, it’s hard for players to objectively measure it. Should A-Net be studying it’s performance? Yes. And I’ll bet they’ve got more than one person looking at it).
I recall back during the beta days, a comment from one of t he a-net staffers to the effect of: ‘The longer a creature has existed in the game, the more xp you get for killing it’. I’d bet cold hard cash that the same applies to drops. How long do a lot of those risen mobs exist? How long do a lot of your other mobs exist?

My two cents:
If it hurts, don’t do that.
If you get no reward for doing that, try something else.
Lastly: Enjoy the experience. ‘Woah, I just thrashed that frog by falling onto him from a cliff’ ‘That Blood dye is simply amazing’ ‘Did you see that bull backflip when my Asura hit him with the lightning hammer?’ ‘You got 3.5 million damage HOW?!’ ‘Woah, that’s a really pretty view.’ ‘Tornado rocks!’
If your enjoyment of the game is obtained entirely from the drops you get, then you are SERIOUSLY missing out on the game.
Don’t get caught up in the numbers and mechanics. Get caught up in the story. The visuals. The effects. Be here to enjoy the game, not to critique it. Let these guide you, and you can’t go wrong.
//Yama
While that’s all warm and fuzzy…when it costs you 10 silver, to teleport across the map and back, the drops are a must to help pad things, let alone make money in this game.
And at level 80, you have already had all sorts of “FUN” doing all sorts of build changes, weapon usage, probably even tried a few different classes and the like, and by the time you are at Cursed Shores or Malchor’s Leap, youve completed a LOT of zones, jumping puzzles, hearts, quests, story lines, dungeons, etc.
And so what’s left? Well you can definitely re-roll a few different classes/races/etc…but after level 20, the zones are now the same, and at higher levels the story lines all merge…so…short of doing Dynamic Events, (Which are supposedly what the game was designed around, right? ) And getting hit with zero reward, when you aren’t even finished with the event…that’s a serious flaw and downer. Especially now that it has been changed to Account Bound. That makes it that much worse.
It literally is discouraging you from playing longer then an hour a day at all. I don’t think people are hating on Anet, but just really really upset by these changes, versus just focusing on catching bots and less on penalizing people. If they want to Re-Roll a dungeon 50 times with their time. Let them. If they want to run the same events over and over, let them. If they want to do nothing but craft and sell stuff, let them…it was supposed to be about choice…and doing what you wanted to do…and at least with the current patches as of late, you have very few choices in what you can do.
The issue with the big karma ban, was it was one item that was priced insanely discounted due to an error. What you are doing is using your tokens to convert to an item (by design), then choosing to salvage that item, instead of use it. Basic game mechanics, and outside of finding some glitch to get tokens without doing dungeons, or manipulating the price or game mechanics in some form or fashion, everything you are doing is as designed…
For Elementalists:
You can put zero points in Precision (Why would you?), and simply use your Air Skill, which is a 10second run for 33% speed increase, (30 second cooldown) and then use the Heal, that gives swiftness while attuned to air, that refreshes every 20 seconds. Stacking these two, I have basically infinite run.
Reminds me of my spiritualist in Gw1…
You can turn off or turn down the particle effects, and possibly change some of the settings to see if that helps in your video settings…
Have you tried increasing/decreasing the resolution? You might also look at a better monitor with a better refresh rate. It makes motion smoother and that helps.
I haven’t seen this, since in every single dungeon, you party up, and the drops are usually garbage in dungeons compared to even normal mobs when I’m not partied. I have gotten numerous golds from mobs in non dungeon areas soloing and doing zone completion, and maybe 1 out of 10 dungeons, with magic find, do I net a gold, and it’s only out of chests…
I’m usually getting broken lockpicks, whites, and some random blues off drops in dungeons and that’s always partied up. It still requires you to damage each target, partied or not as well, to queue it being lootable.
They just changed it in the patch. It doesn’t really alert you, it just goes back to your bag like it’s done, with no changes being made.
As a note I ran some formulas in excel…I think if I had rolled this a few more times, AND tried to do an purchased a little lower, and sold a slight bit higher, I might have actually made a little bit. If I had rolled this again, and say gotten: 6, 9, 5, 7, 6, I would have averaged 6.6 which would be a 13.2% gain vs a 12% gain which would have at LEAST been enough to break even and maybe make a bit. Thus, I think doing the 250 one, might be a better yield but that’s just a guess at this time.
So, in reading numerous threads on some newfound jewelry recipes, and devs saying that there are many more recipes to still discover…I figured I would try seeing what I could throw in there. So being poor myself, but having 400 jewelry making, I figured, eh I’m SO far from a legendary, and I’m not eager to get a rainbow staff…I’ll just wing the lottery forge…
So, I spent my last bit of savings, and purchased enough ecto, and orichal, and made four different exotic lvl 80 amulets. Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, and Coral. I then used my skillpoints I had been saving, and purchased Crystals, An Eldritch Scroll, and Philosopher Stones. I did not try purchasing a bottle of wine however.
So, first was a check that I assumed would work like anything else, and obviously all 4 amulets showed up as a recipe, but probably would have just given me back another amulet of the same, maybe not? No thanks, but for those wealthy enough to try, be my guest…
But I wanted to let everyone know, that no combination of any 3, with the scroll, crystals, or philosopher stones, actually made anything. So, alas I am broke and hopefully someone buys them off the TP soon, and I might just go make a mystic item, to at least make back my money for now. =P
=P
Note, if they aren’t sold by the time I get on next, I may try to save them, and try it with elonian wine after earning a few more skill points
TLDR
3 exotic crafted amulets, did not make a recipe, with philosopher stones, crystals, or an eldritch scroll. Does someone want to try with Elonian Wine?

Are you trying to discover new things? They won’t by default show up in the menu.
You have to go to discovery, double click a band, double click a setting, and double click one of the non ‘greyed out’ jewels. This then creates ring1. NOW it will show up in the crafting menu since its now discovered.
Rince and repeat for the different jewels. Then do the same with hooks/settings. Then if you still need to for the xp, do it with a chain and a setting.
Then to get the last 15-20 towards the next level, see if you can now apply a gold filament to the jewels. Then repeat the above, but instead of the old gems, do it with the now upgraded jewels.
This was strictly testing buying at the lowest price currently available. I did not insta sell but sold at maybe 15 copper above the lowest current selling price. There were hundreds of buys at less then what I was offering to buy, and hundreds more selling right at or above the price I was going to sell.
So, I bought the lowest price out there, rather then waiting, and I sold at a few tiers up in price. I checked about 30 minutes later, and the price the t6 item was selling at, had dropped almost 70 copper.
Granted this was just one test, and I could have easily gotten 7 or 8 out of the forge. But many are reporting at times getting 5, which would have been an even greater loss. I could have waited of course, and did a much lower buy, and a higher sell. And maybe broke even this time around.
Just to break even, I would have had to buy lower, sell higher, having gotten 6. I assume thats the true average from all the people saying they got a few 7-10’s and lots of 5’s….
It looks like maybe the skin for the bow from ascalon catacombs token trade in?
You really did? With all the threads saying don’t transmute it? Crazy…
If you think about it, your also going to get a rare back if you do rares? And when you DO get an exotic, it’s going to be worth a good bit more then the rares, which helps pay for the rares. Getting an exotic back form an exotic is still going to be a wash..
Items all say “Critcal” instead of “Critical”.
Example: All Ruby Items and probably all Beryl as well.
Just for the record, I tried doing this with 3 different exotic craftable amulets.
I even bought a scroll, crystals, and the like and none of them combine with the amulets…
So alas, 60 skillpoints, and 6 gold later, and I still don’t have any recipe matierlas =(
Hah…So…just tried this…kind of a fail…
47.50 for 50 vials of potent blood.
10.99 for 1 vial of powerful blood.
8.90 for 5 crystalline dusts.
Total cost, 67.39
I received back a whopping 6 powerful bloods.
Total resale value, 10.99 x6 = 65.94
-3 silver listing fee
-10% selling fee
———
Total Net Profit: -8.5 Silver.
So…I lost 8.5 Silver. Had I gotten 7 instead of 6, I would have actually made a profit of 1 silver…
