There exists a “Great and Gorgeous Mesmer Collective”, of which Lady Kasmeer Meade is a member. When the veil surrounding Viathan Lake (later discovered to be concealing the Tower of Nightmares) was identified to be a mesmer illusion, the collective sent Lady Meade to investigate.
Certain extremely powerful Mesmer spells are known only to the most elder members of the Mesmer community, and are kept a secret from outsiders.
(takes from the wiki.)
I find this interesting. I wonder how old this “Organization” is, what powerful Mesmer spells they posses, and who are the elite members. I also wonder how and why Kasmeer was chosen to become a member. How powerful is Kasmeer, and is Countess Anise a member?….
Bethany: 8/10 I really like the strength she seems to exude. Yet just a touch of calm and cuteness to go with it.
Here’s mine: Ezana Loremaster- ( She’s bi-racial, a mix of Elonian, and Canthan.)
Here is a YouTube video done by WoodenPotatoes discussing the Mystery surrounding the 6th elder dragon
And here is another video discussing the possibilities that the Pale tree could possibly be apart of and or the 6th elder dragon in some way.
What a mystery they are. I hope ANET ( in time) brings them into GW2 somehow. I really would like to know more about them, and where they came from. Mursaat? Not too interested in them.
The Seers however seem to be so otherworldly lore and appearance wise. Like they did not originate on tyria. My theory is that both the Mursaat and the Seers also came to Tyria long ago… Hmm who knows.
Anywho just thought Id share my thoughts <3 Oh, there is information that is “hard to come by” in GW2 about to the Seers… The interview below confirms that.
Ree Soesbee: There have been a lot of questions about the Seers and their ancient war with the mursaat. Sadly, these aren’t questions we can answer at great length without giving away some very deep secrets of the Guild Wars world. I can say that they are one of the oldest races of Tyria, dating back long before the Gods brought the humans to the world; to the time of the writing of the Tome of Rubicon. In those ancient days, the Seers fought against the mursaat, but they were in turn defeated by their enemies, and their civilization lost to the ravages of time.
Some remnants of that civilization, and that ancient time, still remain in modern-day Tyria (both in GW and GW2), but often, those who discover such things do not realize what they have found. There are opportunities in Guild Wars 2 to uncover some of the most ancient lore, including previously untold tidbits about the Seers and their story, but such information will be very difficult to come by.

Like the title says, Id like to know how an individual would go about casting a Mesmer spell. Would they meditate and “envision” the gathering of aether into the spell they are trying to cast? Is it pure will power? a mix of both imagery and will power?
I want to know how these spells work, from a molecule level to a larger scale. ( in general of course)
Mesmers sound very impressive when we hear things like manipulation, portals, illusions, etc. But it is really only so very impressive if look at them from an aspect of “no limits”. But we know that they do have limits. e.g.: it’s harder to create an illusion in one mind than an illusion that everyone can see.
Now I also think that not all mesmers are created equal. For example, staff Mesmer may excel at portals, but won’t neccesarily have the same types of tricks that a sword and pistol wielder would. Duelist health is also more of a mechanic I think since peope are born big or small without reguard for what they will become. Now excersize may play a small role but one bullet kills big men as well as small. So going back to the wepaons wielded, mesmers who weild staves may not get as much excersizre as those who wield swords.
I think ypou covered the mesmers abilities pretty well ,so Ill list ele’s. Looking at ele advantages, it isn’t all destructive power. if they are tricked into hurting themselves, they can repair the damage with healing water power. if they are surrounded by clones, electricity works well in AoE to neutralize that strategy. Eles real strength lies in their options and adaptability. They can strengthen themselves with the power of earth, heal with water, quicken themselves with air and damage with fire.
The more fit ele’s may wield daggers since that weapon set seems to require a lot of activity. They can summon powerful elemantals to also create multiple avenues of attack that the Mesmer would need to keep track of. And they are much more durable than clones.
All in all, it really does depend on what style and types of spells each combatant leans towards and how they respond to each other. I’m not usually one to say “it depends” because I like to focus on tendancies, but in this case, I really do think so. there are just so many vaiables to take into account. And they both have so many counters to each others potential strategy.
This really opens up my mind more. Both professions have limits that take effect on the well being of the body. So I believe at the end of the day it is safe to say both professions are apple and oranges. I would really like to see a Mesmer fight a Elementalist though lol. And no not in PvP
OK I had to do it but this is a great video of 2 skilled players (Mesmer vs elementalist) and I thought it would be great to share.

Hello Everyone,
Iam having some issues regarding graphics when playing GW2.
I recently ( about a week now) came back to GW2 after a long 2-3 month break. During those 2 months I decided to play/ check out other MMOs. When I came back to GW2 and downloaded the game, I noticed a BIG problem I never used to have when I played GW2 2-3 months prior. The ISSUE I’am having is, the delayed loading of graphics of the environment, other players and NPCs ( More noticeable in areas like cities when I first arrive there from a way point or entrance to the area.) Mostly everything would take a very long time (1-2mins tops) to “Fully Load” and would appear as such ( see images below). My question is, why is this all happening now? For I did not have this issue 2-3 months ago. Back then everything loaded perfectly fine, no errors with loading graphics at all. So could someone help me understand why this is happening? thanks.
Here are my laptop specs:
Model: HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC
Processor: AMD A6-3420M APU with Radeon™ HD 6520G graphics 1.50 GHz
Installed Memory (RAM): 4.00 (3.48 GB usable)
System Type: 64-bit Operating System
assuming your on a normall HDD not kitten try defraging your harddrive it could be that your guildwars install is in a couple of thousand place
Good call, im defraging my computer now.
This ^
Apples and oranges as Aaron said. Mesmers don’t tend to use so much raw power like ele’s can so it would all depend on how they responded to each other.
I asked Map Chat earlier the same question and I got a few responses. Some were pure opinion, and others seemed to have some solid fact. Incorporating the lore from GW1 and GW2, most said mesmers would win since they have an ability to invade ones mind and manipulate their views of reality in an instant, they also can inflict pain on anyone casting an ability, they are magical duelist (idk if this holds any weight), and the other answer I got was that Mesmers are counter mages…
So if a skilled Mesmer would VS a skilled Elementalist, I feel as if it would trickle down to the individuals skill. Now in a general aspect, I feel more inclined to say the maybe a Mesmer would have an edge in combat. The reason would be due to the fact that Mesmers can manipulate time, space (portals/teleports), reality and illusions. Where an Elementalist just focuses on raw elemental magic damage (destruction magic). So essentially all a Mesmer would have to do is manipulate, confuse, and disorient the elementalist’s view of reality. With the variety of Mesmer spells, that bend reality to their will, the effects could be drastic in terms of combat. ( also note the Mesmer is a duelist, so wouldn’t it be safe to say the Mesmer has more health than a elementalist?)
But Id like to know from everyone else, what edge do you think an elementalist would have over the Mesmer, or vice versa?
It also happens when I summon my Mesmer clones… they show up as faceless black clones with grey armor on -_-
That’s the new culling system in action. Clones and Phantoms shouldn’t be counted toward the display limit.
What is this “Culling System?”
It use to be that the server determined in PvE which players would be displayed as a way to improve performance. They were either there or invisible with a name hovering over where they are. Players hated the fact they couldn’t see all the players.
So ANet in the last patch introduced client side culling code that allows you to set, in broad terms (5 settings from low to highest), how many players could be visible at one time and how many of them will show their actual character or just a generic placeholder model based on race and profession (but oddly not gender). Set the settings low, nearly everyone is a generic model. Too high and frame rate suffers even more in crowded areas than before.
Sadly mesmer clones are also affected by this. I run a mesmer too and am annoyed by this.
This Culling system seems to really be a negativity. Atleast IMO. It even messes with my environment when im in DR. Smh… I wish Anet would get of this new system. bleh, im going to have to adjust this new system to my comps liking.
Well the towns ppl under the tower ( forgot towns name) Speak of hearing screams in the cayons to the west. as well as body snatching seem to happen as well. Oh and the elementals working there don’t seem to happy to be slaving around for the towns people
Like Aaron, I wouldn’t say Elementalism is weaker than Mesmerism, but rather that it’s either easier to comprehend and master or that it’s simply a more basic use of magic (which would in many cases, make it easier to comprehend on a lower scale).
So with that being said, if an Elementalist in present day GW2 would Vs. a Mesmer… whom do you think would win the battle? Would it be a draw? Or would you just agree to the fact that it lies within the magic user’s ability and skill?
This will happen if you don’t have a fast access hard drives. If you have SSD, loading elements would be much quicker.
But I never had this issue in the past… till this Culling system or whatever its called came in.
It also happens when I summon my Mesmer clones… they show up as faceless black clones with grey armor on -_-

What is this “Culling System?”
According to Thruln the Lost, when humanity came to continental Tyria by ship in 205 BE they had access to “primitive magic” – magic of the elements (Elementalists).
So does this mean Elementalist magic is weaker compared to Mesmer magic?
It also happens when I summon my Mesmer clones… they show up as faceless black clones with grey armor on -_-
Yes! thank you so much for all that information.
It seems that the lore surrounding the bloodstones and magic is the best it gets. Although I recall there were research journals written on how certain Mesmer spells were used to ward off a charr invasion. But I don’t remember where I read that at.
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/21429-does-the-new-mesmer-fit-the-old-mesmer-lore/
So I found this thread in another forum discussing the Mesmer lore atleast and how it fits into GW itself. I have to pick and choose through each response but that’s ok.
I came across one post though:
“IF you have ever read gwen’s diary. you will see that the mesmer does not only affect the mind of the caster. She affects reality. She bends it to make it work for her and impale her enemies. She has always manipulated ether in different ways. The GW2 mesmer has learned to use it for some new tricks. But I’m sure some of the mind tricks are still there.”
I wonder who Gwen is.
Ah so its not just me either. This really proves its Anets side of the fence
LOL awesome Nero! I appreciate it.
Iam really interested in knowing because, you don’t get a story or information surrounding your chosen profession when you play the game. And as a RPer I need to know lol
Hello!
I was wondering if anyone knew anything of the origins of these 2 professions or the lore surrounding them?
I studied the lore surrounding magic in general but I want detail explaining the lore specifically about these 2 professions .
Thanks~
Ahhhh! So then it is not on my end after all? Well that makes me feel very at ease

I’m a guild officer with Equality Regiment – a casual social guild for the lgbt communities and their allies based on the Tarnished Coast server.
Look out for our [LGBT] guild tag!
I will totally do that! im so glad LGBT guilds exist!
@Blackcat- We must catch each other ingame then. Dont worry im sure dragon brand has more ppl from the LGBT. As for the tarnished coast, id love to go there, but its full! lol Ill jus have to wait
Yes, Crystal Desert is the unofficial GSSM (or as more people know it, LGBTQ) server. You will find many many q’ueer-themed guilds there. However, Crystal Desert is full most of the time, so moving there may not be an option.
From my own guild, I also know that a lot of us are on Tarnished Coast. Tarnished Coast is the unofficial RP server, and RP servers tend to have fewer of the ‘lol ur gay’ jerks as well, so that’s probably why.
Keep in mind that if what you are after is chatting in game, you can do this cross-server. So you can join any guild, even if its main server is not the same server as yours, and you can guild chat with them, in-game mail, whisper them etc. You can even run dungeons together, because dungeons are on their own server instance.
Thank you for INFO! I did not know the dungeons have their own server! This makes making friends on other servers even better! What I really brings “Music to my ears” is the idea that tarnished coast is a RP server! Now that’s something I need! I may jus delete my character and head on over there. If I can squeeze in lol
Even though Iam level 15, I can achieve that level again in a few days so its no bother.
There’s no need to delete your character to transfer. Just hit the “World Selection” button in the lower-left corner of the character selection screen, select a world, then click “Transfer.”
If you have difficulties: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Tarnished-Coast-World-Full/ Best of luck!
Ah well thanks for the heads up! But I think my eyes like what they see in regards to the Mesmer class. And I’m already a ele, so I’m gonna change lol

see… this is your problem… you come in here and imply that only LGBT people are friendly and social… I’m very straight and I love socially chatting with random people for fun… but you’ve made the assumption that you’ll only get that experience from the LGBT community… I would assume that the LGBT community would be above making sweeping negative generalizations about others since… you know… but apparently you’re not… I’m actually offended at this and its pretty hard to offend me…
You assumed wrong, I did not imply that I only want to speak and communicate with Gay people, but with all people including my LGBT community. Simple as that.
Dang. I dont know if I can switch to a US server, or what my ping times would be to there. Sorry!
BTW you must be there mashing F5
By the time I skipped to Main you’d re-posted!
Ahh its ok! Its not the end right? lol
And yes I was f5-ing lol
When you choose a server, let me know, I’ll switch over (presuming you are in Europe). I like grouping with people who actually bother to communicate!
Awww Im in the USA! It made me sad earlier today when I said “hello, how are you?” to another player in the wilderness and they replied with a "
". I was totally shocked and was like “ummm ok” lol. but i guess i must get use to it.
I don’t know really how sexual bias really comes into an RPG but…
I am gender neutral in psychology, having no feeling of sexual identity. I am not masculine or feminine in demeanour and am physically non-sexual. I almost exclusively play female characters, as it is my way of enacting the feminine side of my nature which I cannot express in my real life.
While not strictly LGBT, I am all good with anyone of any gender preference.
Even though Iam gay, I also (Mentally Speaking) align myself with the gender neutral aspect as well. This may sound contradicting but I consider myself masculine and feminine, or lack of a better word… ANDROGYNOUS… I embrace both…. so when I play games i try to create a androgynous male… if that cant be achieved to my liking then ill create a female.
First- I have no idea what LGBT means… I may be ignorant in this regards… Secondly- While I believe I’m a supportive and helpful player standing around and simply chatting tends to be rather boring for me. I’d much rather be running around killing something than typing hours on end. In my guild we skype and on a regular basis so typing has become a “dead” form of communication. Normally most guilds will have some form of vent like we do skype and since people tend to gravitate towards communities and stick with them you form friends. In a game when you’re talking to a friend over live chat you’re less likely to type out to a random stranger. The only recommendation I have for you is find a nice guild you’re comfortable in. Personally mine is very small and casual to the point we’ve added each other on facebook and refer to each other’s real names rather than character names.
If you feel alone or no one wants you maybe Protos de Atrium can give you a home :P (my guild)… Though we’re on Gates of Madness.
Ahh ok, well that is new to me. Iam usually the type to run up to a random character and say “hello, how are you? would you like to party?” lol. You gotta start somewhere right? So I guess I must get in with the “LINGO”, since im not use to the form of communication most players use on this MMO.
Nonetheless it does seem rather interesting on how most players will form their own communities/guilds (home) and play like that.
Oh and L.G.B.T community stands for Lesbian. gay. Bisexual. Transgenderd Community
Hello Guild Wars 2 Community and LGBT community,
I jus started Guild Was 2 about 4 days ago, I’am a Lv. 15 Asuran Elementalist named Azinta on the Dragonbrand Server. I noticed that while I play the game some players arent very social.
Ive played many “Free MMOs” in the past and most of them were casual/hardcore. But there were many social players in these games. Now, iam not doubting that this game lacks a “Social Community” in game, but since ive been playing I have not come across a player who will jus chat for a few. I know most of us are focused with our own stories and exploring but I hope in the future ill come across some players who will jus enjoy “taking” a break and enjoying the scenery around us while we have a nice conversation.
As for the LGBT community, I hope you all can reach out to me (^_^).
It would be great to mingle with all of you. And journey together as well!
So I look forward to partying, conversating, and playing with all of you in the near future… this game is wonderful and I absolutely cannot wait to see what more it has to offer.
P.S: My Character INFO~
