Am I the only one who isnt excited about cat ears! ( im a cat person irl so)
Is the topic created with a random word generator?
AHHHHHHHHH LMFAO!!!! Best comment!
Hey everyone,
I was thinking, is the Engineer/Scrapper inspired from the Alchemis class from Dungeons and Dragons? I think I remember a interview with a few devs saying that certain professions are inspired from classes in D&D. Like Guadian being taken from the Cleric for example. Thoughts?
Personally
My female Sylvary Druid. I feel it is my destiny to heal and protect the world from anything that threatens it. As a new and young race… It is my calling.
I think Mesmers/Chronomancers are the most powerful. I mean lets face it… Altering time, space, and reality itself is extremely powerful versus summoning the dead or using Elemental magic.
They’re not actually as powerful as some people are saying. Most mesmers only affect the perception of space and time, not space and time itself, at least according to a few off-hand remarks by devs.
Oooooooooooo! So are you saying they make it seem like they are removing themselves from the time line when casting [Continuum Split]? How do you justify the boon quickness? Are you saying mesmers create the illusion of Quickness and alacrity?
How about the famous [Portal Entre]? Do they make it seem like up to 60 people can teleport through a portal, covering vast distances through the use of illusions? Imo after 250 years mesmers have found ways to manipulate the physical world with their magics versus just a individuals mind.
Jus like how dragon hunters manifest their virtues into physical reality.

Ughhhh I ABSOLUTELY HATE the Human Male voice. Wayyyyyyyyy to masculine/macho for my taste. The Male Sylvari voice is 1000 times better. He doesnt sound overly masculine. Sylvari males have the best voices IMO, they sound elegant, subtle with a dash of confidence. Wish the Human males got that.
Its one reason why I wont make a male Human… I feel like if I make a pretty man, his voice and face wont match. Ugh ANET. Thats why I main a Human Female.
Hahaha when I read your words first I thought “cool, another person who feels the same way”. Turns out you are pretty much on the other side of the spectrum. To me he just sounds like a wimp :p
Lmao oh gods… You must want him to sound like the hulk huh? I dont have anythinf against masculine men, I jus think ANET shouldve given us variety.
God Bless you and all transgender players Ashencourt!
There are those who don’t understand how a small gesture like this makes such a huge difference for some. Virtual hugs for all!
Yassss this. Perfectly and WELL SAID!!!!!!
I LOVE SYAAAAAAAAA AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
I love Sya and I love Majory and Kas…. Kasmeer is my favorite chr alongside Countess Anise… BUT ANET ITS TIME FOR A LEAD MALE GAY COUPLE PLEASE LOL. I look forward to seeing that.

Nicely said Xstein, +1 to that.
Also though, we have to caution with “be careful what you ask for…” on this, because one of the key reasons why for example CS/F5 is lackluster in making you feel like a Chronomancer, is simply due to the fact that it works on Elites. This turns CS into little more than an Elite Doubler, and that of course has to be balanced out elsewhere as much as possible.
So CSs duration was drastically cut to compensate for it’s power to double Elites, but we all know that this only leads to Elites being nerfed (Moa), or things simply remaining out of balance and keeping us from getting much needed improvements elsewhere.
I for one have said from day 1 of reading about Chrono, that Elites should not be affected by CS, and I stand to that until this day. In return of course, we would need to un-nerf CSs duration, so that you can actually use it to do neat tricks, confuse/juke etc. (And of course more improvements to sustain, and DPS, and of course to power shatter in general.)
I also agree that Anet took kind of the cheap way out for “fixing” Mesmers with HoT, through the Chrono line, putting things in there that simply do not belong there. (It’s just really hard to enjoy the profession without Chronophantasms and the passive 25% speed, not to mention the super-speed shattered illusions.)
These were all things that needed to happen to Mesmers for sure, but not in the Chrono line! The passive speed should be on a Signet, all illusion generation needs to be a normalized baseline ability of the class (DUH!), and shattering should always make illusions run at speed5 and be invulnerable (at least for a second or two.) There are simply too many other counters available to shatters, to include illusion death (especially now that on-death traits are gone!), and slow-moving shattered illusions that have no prayer of reaching a moving target in today’s game. (Not to even mention pathing issues that enemies frequently abuse to counter illusions.)
In short, no I don’t feel like a Chrono and I feel Anet has managed to rip away almost everything that was cool about the original idea, and replaced it with generic stuff that makes it feel like little more than just a new name for the “same old same old.”
Also hugely agree that Slow on Stomps was perhaps the single biggest ability to make you feel like a Chronomancer. It’s sad that everything that makes us unique ends up being watered down, and usually with no (or lacking) compensation elsewhere.
Take the new improvements for iDefender and iDisenchanter? How on earth did Anet manage to miss the fact that the single biggest issue these two have always had, simply was the ludicrous 1.5s cast time!? It’s just plain too long in today’s game, no matter how you dress it up!
Not to even mention that we literally have to room on the bar for especially iDefender. It would need to be a LOT better then it is, to make it worthwhile. (caugh BulkwardGyro caugh)
Well said. I agree. I feel like ANET should make slow, quickness and confusion conditions/boons, specific to Mesmer/ Chronomancer.
Knowing other classes can do that, they might as well give alacrity production to every other class to and ooo a portal skill.
No. In fact, I feel more like an RPG character more than ever since the F5 is basically a save button.
That and somehow I’m giving people invisible pink fog makers that have nothing to do with timey wimey shenanigans. Maybe I own a street taco cart and giving people purple gas. Wasn’t the original way that Anet was going to represent Alacrity would be spinning clock hands on the left arm?
LOLOL yes this
I agree with all of you on your comments. I feel like our wells are lacking a time manipulation feeling aside from their descriptions. Like well of calamity. I dont really see how im rending and bending time. If anything id jus call it the well if damage and cripple with a dash of weakness lol
Do you?
Do you really feel like you are manipulating time as a Chronomancer? I jus feel its a bit lack luster.
Just look at the list of GW1 Mesmer skills.
https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/List_of_mesmer_skills
GW1 Mesmer was a true dps class, not this “gorunaroundanddothingsthatmayormaynotbeimpactfulandletusbigboyshandlethedpsontheraidboss” crap. Gw1 Mesmer actually manipulated the opponent and confused them, not this passive AI clone fluff that nobody really cares about.
Oh wow!!! They all look so powerful. So much unterrupt and energy reduction. Blackout!!! Disable all skils?!?! Whoa! Lol
Question is, which was better? Ive heard many people say Gw1 Mesmers were better, you truly felt like an ILLUSIONIST compared to what we have now in Gw2…
Thoughts?…
Heyyyy I like it. Some armors have zippers or chains and it adds to it imo. I dont mind it. The Seer armor set has this sound.
I was playing Stardew Valley…. And contiplatung buying gw1. But i didnt. Funny how this happened on my day off lol.
Link you are complaining about shatter? Everyone is mainly playing condi or hybrid. Ugh you make no sense link.
Hello everyone and Arena Net,
Gw2 is in major need of profession lore. The game jus feels so empty without it. Especially how the Revenant was implemented into the game.
Whatever happened to the Mesmer Collective? Why do we have elite specs now? Who was the first of each elite specilization. Come on Anet this is sad. We need LORE for
Or each profession, and not material from Guild Wars 1.

I’ve mained Mesmer since 2012… It’s my favorite class lore wise and gameplay wise.
Hello fellow Mesmers/Chronomancers,
Would anyone have any information on Mesmer/Chrono lore? This is my favorite class and I’ve mained one since 2012. I was jus curious to know if there are any lore surrounding the class. I’ve seen bits and pieces here and there but I’m sure there are more.
~Thanks
Hey all,
I was thinking lately about how continuum split works and realized it could be a lot better given its current state. I have one major suggestion that I think could work great with the shatter.
When the Continuum split is up, and you are removed from the current timeline, and you DIE while in the removed timeline… Continuum split should end and you return to the original timeline with your previous health, etc.
Not sure if this is a realistic idea but maybe there could be some buffs or new function to allow it to work? What do you all think? It’s just a creative idea I had. I’ve seen other games with classes or characters with a smiliar mechanic, ( Smite -cough- league of legends -cough- lol). Maybe it would be a good idea for it to work for Chronomancers.
Hello fellow Necros/Reapers,
I was wondering if a Minion Master Reaper would be viable for PvE ( Raids, open world).
I really like the concept of summoning minions/pets and I really want to play one as a Necro/Reaper main. I also love Condimancer builds a lot as well, but I hate Power necros/reaper builds, since I believe in the theme of a Dark caster to be all about DOTs.
With that said I was curious to know if playing a MM/ condi build be something that is ok? Any advice is welcome.
Scrapper can easily access stab, they just have to evade an attack or pop a gyro if theyve got that trait too.
^Pretty much this.
Scrapers have access to more stability options than the core engineer. If we have the traits equipped, every time we evade an attack, we get stability, every time we summon a Gyro, we get stability. I should also
mention that scrapers also have access to a huge amount of CC, stuns, dazes, etc. Through our traits and hammer weapon. It’s only natural Scrappers have resistance to CC as well.
So it’s not a bug.

Lore wise it’s totally fine. Engineers specialize in alchemy. Alchemy is a fusion of chemistry and magic. Elixirs are one of the products that come from the engineers alchemy craft. They have “Magical effects”, which is to be expected.
Elixir X is an Alchemy item. So changing to another form, or using another classes skill, or gaining random boons, is a result of the properties within said Elixir X or any other elixir. It’s contents are half magical and half scientific, resulting in a random fusion of possibilities.
Elixir X-Randomly change into another form. Tossing it changes foes into Moas.
Elixir U- Tossing it, creates a random spell at target location
Elixir C- Converts conditions into boons
Elixir S- Shrinks you and tossing it grants stealth
As you can see, an elixir is a concoction of various ingredient, that will have a magical alchemical effect. Alchemist in most fantasy lore could not cast spells on their own, which meant they had to devise new methods in gaining magical effects through the practice of alchemy by using alchemical bombs, elixirs, and other various creations. Some sought ways to understand the material world and magic even further than the typical Mage. In order to do so, they had to cross boundaries most mages wouldn’t, and that was understanding the “Science” behind magic.
And engineers elixirs, produce spells/ skills that other classes have access to. Allowing them to use Necromancy, Elemental, Illusion, and guardian magic. As well as more physical skills like Smoke wall, and Rampage. So in a sense Gw2 engineers are crossing that barrier most mages from other fantasy lore would frown upon.
The fact that alchemist or “Engineers” in this case, have access to spells/abilities from a variety of professions, allowing them to use magic from other schools without actually having to be the class required to use those spells naturally, makes them seem as “chaotic” to most in the Mage community due to the random nature of their alchemy craft, despite its versatile effects.
Hope this helps!

Um, thieves can cover a wide range of “types” of characters. They aren’t perhaps criminals or actual thieves, it’s just the name of the class.
Also, why did you delete all your characters? birthday gifts!
Yea I meant the Thief profession in general. How did they come about in Tyria… Why do they exist?
(I’ve been playing gw2 since 2012… Never got a bday gift! I have this habit that I need to kick, of deleting characters. )
I’ve been searching google and I cannot seem to find anything related to Thief lore.
I’ve recently deleted all my other characters, and iam now focusing on starting with a clean slate as a Thief soon-to-be Daredevil. I’am a Role Player so I take huge consideration with the character I play regarding their profession lore.
I was jus wondering if anyone can provide a link or whatever, detailing lore on Gw2 thieves. All I know so far is that Thieves use a form of denial magic similar to Mesmers, through shadow magic. But that’s all I know. Id like to know how thieves came about. I know they are descendants of assassins from GW1, but wiki states there are no lore parallels.
So I’m lost. Can anyone provide some juicy Thief lore information? Thanks!
That video was hilarious! Haha great job! Gave me some neat ideals.
Yay! Thank you all for your kind words. You know If any MMORPG does the thief, rogue, or assassin archetype class right, regarding gameplay, and mechanics… It’s Guild Wars 2.
I’m already Sapphire division in PvP, and lv 25 in PvE. I cannot wait to get more time with this class. It’s so much fun.
It is sad to see thief not apart of the meta much, but that doesn’t stop me from playing it. It still is super effective if played correctly in PvP. PvE it’s perfect… But in PvP one must understand their opponent and the situations at hand in order to gain an upper hand. Dragon hunters are my biggest issue. But I can still find ways to kill them if I plan carefully.
Hey my fellow Thief/Daredevil Girls and Boys,
I have recently become a Main of Daredevil/Thief, and Iam loving this class so MUCH!
Iam typically a mage in MMORPGs, staying away from pure melee classes. Thief being the only exception, and luckily for me, thieves in GW2 Lore, also make use of denial Magicks. So hey I still get some of my Mage-ness too! lol.
Anyway, Im here to stay. I’ve mained Mesmer for 3 years, along with tempest and Druid here and there. But being a sneaky thief, inspired from D&D, and Final Fantasy along with Assassins Creed and other various thief stealth games, I can’t help but become even more drawn to the Thief/Daredevil class in GW2.
P.S: D/P Daredevil is kittening AMAZING IN PVP! Ive been having a few winning streaks in the league matches. I love how I can disengage and re-engage over and over, just like a real assassin or thief. Love this!!!
Windows 7 – 32bit
My screen looks like it’s stretched. I have a 1900 × 600 laptop screen resolution as well. And the camera is acting funny.
Thank you all for your advice.
IM not a fan of dagger ele, ascetically speaking. I prefer staff since it gives me the most DMG overtime, and I love the look. In pvp I have no issues. I play a Celestial Auramancer so im good there.
In PvE ( mostly open world and raids… I dont focus on fractals to much), I will switch a few pieces of gear around, and even add in earth attunement. I was thinking of maybe doing a Berserker auramancer, to see if that would be beneficial as well.
On a side note… Im building towards having a gear set for being a Tempest healer. I already have Clerics gear on my druid with Runes of the monk… So I will test that out. I saw a build on youtube and it was amazing to see the Tempest healing potential.
Yup, Eles/Tempests are made of glass.
If you find you’re dying a lot, change up your build. I heavily recommend taking Arcane Shield, Armour of Earth, and the new shout heal for survivability.
Thanks for the advice. I feel better knowing I’m naturally going to be squishy when being a DPS Tempest. I’ll change a few things around to help me survive.
Hiya Fellow Tempest and Elementalist,
Im new to Tempest and I love the heck out of it. I kill mobs so fast in PvE and ive never encountered anything like it in Gw2. Glass cannon tempest truly stays true to the typical hard hitting mages of fantasy. Only thing is…. I’m super squishy, and not just a little bit. With 12k health… I literally will die from 2-3 hits in PvE. In raids, it’s a bit worse.
My question is, is this normal? Iam in full berserkers gear, with 2 armor peices that are Assassins and one assassin trinket. I have scholar runes and I use a berserker staff. While I have never seen any other class in gw2 kill groups of mobs so fast, and take down bosses health so quickly, I have also never experienced dying so quickly in gw2.
I mained a Druid for a bit ( changing main to tempest now), and prior to that I mained a Mesmer for 3 years. Now that I’m a Tempest main, I just can’t help but be more careful with not being hit versus when I played Druid and Mesmer. So once again is this normal to have such low health? To be easily killed in a few hits, In exchange for huge DPS? I have no issues at all if this is the case… I just want to make sure this is normal, and I’m hoping I’m not missing anything.
Thanks,
-Purecura
Hello Dardevil and Thief community,
I recently tried out P/P and Staff DD out and I have to say it hits very hard in PvP. Maruder Amulet with Scholar runes, really push out the dmg. My question is, there must be a reason people don’t use it in PvP. I can see it being used in PvE for sure, definitely in raids maybe.
But why is PP DD hardly used in PvP? What is the pros and cons about the build. Theme wise I feel like a gunslinger from some anime show lol, it’s tons of fun to me.
Here’s my Druid – Harbard Fjolnir and his faithful raven Muninn

Bit hard in this game to make Druid to actually look like a Druid…now all I need is Nevermore, but it’ll be a loong, looong ‘gold farming journey’ :\
OMG… Ive enver been a fan of the Norn but wow yours looks so good. And nevermore really is going to compliment your look.
Now wintersday is upon us!!!
Happy Thanksgiving ANET,
I hope to those that celebrate this warm, humble holiday at arena net, enjoy this day with those you love and care about! You all work so hard on such an amazing game. While there are still things that need to be worked on or otherwise, Guild Wars 2 is the best MMORPG I have ever played and I’m proud to have 3 years under my belt, with many more years to come.
As a person who wishes to one day travel to space, in hopes of exploring far off worlds, in the meantime I have Tyria. A world with many cultures, towns, cities, and beauty. A world I can explore right in my living room, and that alone makes me more than grateful and happy.
So once again, thank you… Happy Thankgiving, from one of your loyal players! I hope you all have a good day!
-Purecura
Love the Norn cultural
Wow very beautiful! Not a fan of playing Norns, but your Druid Norn looks so good!
Nice to see somebody else rocking the druid shoulders, OP
Those are tricky to find things to pair with.
Haha so true! While im not a fan of the Druid shoulders, I had to incorporate them into my look for sure. Btw im loving that head gear on your Asura, Lol definitely giving a Druid animal look :P
Next Patch:
“Spirit of Nature becomes the cure and sacrifices nearby downed allies.”
I sense ANET realizes they have a lot of work to do in getting our Spirits to work again and correctly
Actually across all FORUMS. No Dev is replying to anything or anyone… However, they are “WATCHING”… keep that in mind…
I also want to mention that Rytlock is just not a Revenant. he’s the first HERALD TOO! So what lore will be born from that? Rytlock is shown at one point using a Glint based spell to destroy fines in the HoT Story.
Well, there is this topic Show your rangers here, you like it or not Druid is a Ranger
/Cough Druid is the advance form of Ranger. It gets its own icon. If it was still ranger, there wouldn’t be an adv class icon when we spec into it, the ranger Paw icon would still be there. So that makes it a Druid now, not a Ranger anymore
(edited by Purecura.1795)
Hey Everyone,
Don’t know if this kind of post exist elsewhere, if it does, I couldn’t find it. SO I thought to make one here in the Ranger/Druid forums. With all the sad things happening with druid right now (Spirits and Astral Force Q_Q), I thought to bring some joy back, with posting pics of our lovely Druids. Whether you Main Druid like me, or have it as your ALT, lets see your Nature Loving, Celestial Being Druid screen shots!
As a Sylvari Druid, I truly tried to find skins that would compliment the theme of Druid and nature. So below are pics of my beloved Sylvari Druid Zalintyre, hope you all like.
(Btw I went with the Accursed mask armor skin, because it reminds me of an animal in the wild, with the teeth and tusk on the mask. Just to give me a more tribal, Druid look. Also I chose the nightmare arbor medium armor skin, as it suits the nature theme of a Druid quite well, compared to the majority of medium armor skins we have available. My staff is Yggdrasil, the Druid’s specialization collection weapon, and my shoulders are the Druid shoulders.)

This just really shows how much we take the back seat compared to every other class. Cant even get a tool tip with the correct grammar. lol come on Arena Net :P
I saw this typo while looking at the tool tip.
Spirits really need attention… Its clear Arena Net does not seem to pay them much mind. The typo in the tool tip confirms that lol.
