Take a look at some of fay’s builds on mesmerguides.com
Basically, here’s the deal. Some mantra builds work. Sometimes you’ll even kill people with them. However, no matter how hard you try, they’ll always be worse than almost any other build for PvP, simply because the mechanic is currently too clunky to work. Fay spent the better part of a year trying to make them viable before she gave up.
Yeah, so I’d love to see this skill fixed if that’s alright.
Is that a bunch of gw1 stuff?
Looks like it. None of that makes sense. 10 or more dishonor points each lasting a minute? All those game types? What the hell is that?
The OP is also a bit of a stalker creep, it seems. Anyone else getting creepy in game whispers from him?
Nope, and I’d love to see screenshot proof that you are.
I was under the impression that % don’t effect reflections as the damage is based of the creatures damage however the crit chances/damage on the reflect is determined by your own stats.
% damage from Empowering Mantras definitely counts (this is why almost all reflect based builds use it). I am 99% certain that % damage from force sigils, etc. also count, but would appreciate clarification from Pyroatheist or the other Mesmer forum gods
Reflects are calculated as if you had used the attack with the same power, but all outgoing modifiers are yours. This means you won’t be reflecting any 20k kill shots, but you can stack up on modifiers for reflecting boss attacks.

He wasn’t hacking. You just need to learn the game. Look up the thief weaponset pistol/dagger and see if you can figure out what that thief was doing.
While I think that the ferocity change is absolutely the wrong way to go about things, anyone claiming that full zerker won’t still be far and away the highest dps for any class is full of it.
I’m curious. To the regular sPvP players — do you guys usually get the daily every day? If so, how much time does it take you?
As I understand it, dailies are more or less supposed come automatically if you play that playstyle. For example the 3 WvW dailies (part of the PvE dailies) come pretty effortlessly if you’re a WvW player — and without needing hours upon hours of play.
If sPvP players generally aren’t getting their dailies in a reasonable amount of time, perhaps they should feel cheated by Anet.
(I’m not an AP hunter… I just find the AP hunter threads really fascinating because their playstyle is so different from mine.)
Yes, we get the daily. However, we don’t obsess about getting every last achievement point possible in the daily. Simply obtaining the daily reward takes 3 matches on average.
Yep, I’d love to see some communication here.
Trinkets: these are pretty easy to get. Get a set for every build.
Weapons: if you want power based wvw weapons, I’d recommend knights.
Armor: don’t. Just don’t, seriously. A full set is a stat change of like 1%.
Thanks for the info Bunda! I’ll probably give Zergmower a shot with the Rabid set I currently own.
Think I’ll probably go with Knight’s as my next armor set.
Yeah, it’ll work fine with rabid. I use dire because you don’t technically need the crit chance, but rabid will be almost the same.
The DE change will not be going through. This was stated in the balance patch preview notes found in the profession balance subforum.
This thread is so over dramatic. Mesmer as a class is fine. PU gives crazy protection up-time, phantasms deal way too much damage for being AI, GS has amazing ranged dps. I’m doing fine on my mesmer in pvp.
And by fine we mean what? High ranked in team queue?
You’ll want to change your traits a bit. Take just 10 in domination, then 12 dueling, and I’d probably finish with 20 in inspiration. You’ll want to put your next few points into dueling to pick up sharper images.
Additionally, you should be running full power/precision/crit damage gear. As much as you can get. The reason you can’t kill anything is you’ve got no offensive stats, so it’s no surprise you’re having trouble killing mobs.
For a more in-depth guide, look up Lazy Kai’s leveling guide.
Yep. And the disturbing bit is that the team supposedly was looking into this months ago. Apparently they decided it wasn’t worth fixing.
Sword #3 is a real joke. It bugs out all the time and even when it works it isn’t much use for a leap. The only redeeming factor is the immobility it creates on the chained skill, but this can be done by other more reliable means. To try to use this as a leap is laughable as I’m able to simply run to the target faster than I can execute the combo here to to get them (due to the relatively slow lead in). The exception is if somebody is running away, but between the range, the bugginess (a small rock will cause it to fail), and the slow speed of the combo makes this horrible when compared to other “leap” skills.
Note that other leap skills aren’t a stunbreak and don’t have 2 leap combo finishers in 1 skill.
So about this fix thing….could we get a response please?
Simple answer, for any mesmer while it lasts, is to apply stealth every time a mesmer gets clones out, killing them all.
That was hot fixed last night.
Anet has stated they will be looking at the WvW achievements and revamping them into a more reasonable form.
That being said, you ask an extremely good question which is: Who thought this was a good idea? Also, I’ll have what they’re having.
Hey all,
In case you haven’t seen some of the posts I’ve already made, I’m back! I’ll be covering PvP/WvW/Balance teams for community coordination.
That’s pretty much the short version. If you have any questions, feel free to post them here!

After spending the past several months training with the elite Shaolin monks, can you beat Grouch in a 1v1? We must determine who is Grand Master Poobah of PvP Community Team
Lol, neither. I nominate supcutie.
Currently I have a full zerker set, and a full rabid set. What other stat combos are generally good for Mesmers?
I usually do PvE and WvW zerging, with occasional WvW roaming. I’ve run shatter, and PU condi in the past and I’m currently running shatter/lockdown. I’m thinking maybe PVT would be good for WvW zerging? I probably wouldn’t enjoy playing support builds.
Any armor or build suggestions? Please and thank you. =)
If you’re looking for Zerging gear, I recommend full knights armor+weapons with cavalier trinkets. This makes you very tough while still maintaining a good offense.
If anything, mesmer should get toxin, not fear.
Mesmers aren’t that good in 1v1
.
lol ok conversation closed
Thanks, don’t let the door hit you on the way out…
7. Portal Entre/Exeunt.
Has no range indicator. Impossible to tell whether it is in range or not. This is easy. The distance is 10 seconds straight line running if you have 25% speed buff. may be 11 or 12 seconds if no speed buff. 9 seconds if you have 33% speed buff. Yes, i have tested this with my mesmer.
Actually is 12 seconds running in a straight line out of combat with swiftness. 12 seconds exactly.
So if you guys could actually fix what you broke…that would be dandy.
So now that they’ve gotten a hotfix going for breaking illusions, hows about we get a reply about our iWarden?
-snip-
Wow. Words fail me.
The team is investigating. Thanks for the reports!
Is the team investigating with the intent to fix it, or just to get us to stop bugging you guys a la iWarden?
You guys keep giving inaccurate information. It’s not when the enemy stealths. Its when the illusions attack is ready and they try to attack but have no target. There’s a big different between the two. >_>:
Interesting, thanks for the clarification. I’m hoping to get in game later this evening to test for myself, but it doesn’t look as bad as I initially thought.
It’s not as bad as people thought, and in fact many people think it’s just thieves who the bug pertains to, but that’s not the case. The real case is that most stealths are so short that the illusions don’t try to attack in that time frame, and don’t die. This happens pretty frequently still even against thieves. You can, however almost bet on them dying if you see either a shadow refuge, or black powder HS combo (assuming he does it twice).
Clones attack more or less constantly, so they will die even with a very short stealth. Phantasms might live, depending on the stealth and how lucky you get. The swordsman will almost always die due to a fast attack cycle. Same with the disenchanter.
No, this is true, some last longer than others. Warden actually rarely dies.
That’s pretty much what I said.

That’s interesting actually. I do realize that it’s a lack of target. You’ll see illusions die on mobs that go invuln as well because of this.
Well, it’s 8:15am over at Anet HQ, so we should hopefully see a response forthcoming soon
Sorry I was thinking of the more recent Chaos Storm bug where multiple dazes were proc’cing. They did not fix that quickly.
Ah yes, the bug known as ‘the only thing keeping Mesmer semi-viable in high level team play’. Yeah, they did fix that one eventually.
I run with the disenchanter as one of my utilities. Between that and the traited torch, I never have issues with conditions.
I use it now in PvP. In WvW it dies almost instantly and I usually need other utilities in those slots anyway.
Even in PvP it’s not nearly enough to keep up with a good necro, and in WvW necros are beasts because of all the extra stats.
I guess it’s an offense/defense choice, but I find the -40% food makes a big difference, I actually notice when it wears off. (Well, I use -36% because I’m cheap. )
Ah ok. So in Zerg fights or large group fights in wvw, you can either go for the mantra instead of the disenchanter, or you can rely on your friendly neighborhood guardian to clean them up for you. The -40% food does help, but I ultimately find it unnecessary.
Just as an FYI, we used to have a stickied bug report thread, but it was removed a while back because they apparently want all bug reports to go to the bug subforum.
I actually started with Blackwater way back, but had no experience in Pking at all and was so awful in WvW I never gave it a fair shot. I went away from it in PvP and got used to a more hybrid build, but am now thinking of going back to it.
I already have most of the gear.. but I really don’t think I can give up my traveler’s runes, they just make such a huge difference. I assume I can still be fairly effective without perplexity even if I won’t be quite as good….?
Of course, I don’t run mesmer as much any more in general since I fell in love with engi. :/
Interesting that you run +condi food, I usually run -condi food to help against all the condition spammers out there … since mesmers don’t have a ton of condition removal. You don’t find you have issues with that?

ill give u cookies aaand wear a miniskirt while bringing u the cookies if u fix it like right now. deal?
How could they refuse xD
Yeah so….if you could fix this…that would be great, mmmk?
This is a huge problem, and needs to be addressed immediately.
Do we have a bug thread yet?
Bug thread is here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/illusions-dying-vs-stealthed-opponent/first#post3594787
I want to keep this thread at the top of hte bugs forum until we get a dev reply and a fix. Some help with bumping it would be appreciated.
I only noticed after this most recent patch; If you can, try dueling a thief/mes, you should see what I’m talking about. As soon as the thief comes out of stealth, all illusions just “explode” (death; not a shatter).
I’ll have to test it out.
Fighting a thief in WvW; he stealthed, the clones/phantasms I had out just died as soon as he came out of stealth. Noticed it again when fighting another mesmer; no action taken on my part to destroy them.
Bug or Intended? Anyone else notice this?
You most likely shattered them after he went into stealth, and they shattered some time after that since they had lost their target. Illusions won’t die if their target goes into stealth. As a matter of fact, having the target go into stealth then run away is the one and only way to get illusions that just sit around without any active target.
As for taking perplexity runes, they are 100% better then undead. You will have just about the exact same amount of condition damage, however, your confusion will last longer, it will give you an almost permanent 3 stacks of confusion on your opponent, just from attacking them, and also, an extra 5 stacks if you happen to get an interrupt, its not often, but it still helps and is nice when it procs.
While I too use perplexity runes, it is worth noting that the confusion duration on them is completely broken and doesn’t work at all.
Someone please validate, but from what I can tell, the iWarden attacks immediately every time upon spawn. Good so far – still testing.
Take it through a fractal run with the harpies.
All players hit.
Another patch, another failure to fix this skill. Please stop breaking my class Anet.
I always thought that Phantasmal Warlock was more for condi builds, but that changed when it hit thief for 5,6k dmg in sPvP on non-phantasm berserker build.

Need to read the tooltip a bit better then. The warlock is a fully power based skill. It scales in damage with each unique condition on the target.
