That’s true but this is just the gear I happen to have at the moment. I’ll take that into account when I play around with this build some.
Okay so, earlier today a thief hit me for a 6.49k CnD and an 11.2k Backstab. Now, if I had been playing any other character I would’ve ignored it but, I was on my tanky hammer warrior at the time. I have about 3.4k armor, and I’m kind of wondering how the hell he hit me that high. Exactly how much crit damage and power would he need to do this to me?
As the title says, CoF simply gets contested way too quickly. You do a run, come out, and it’s contested again- almost every single time. None of the other dungeons get contested nearly as quickly as CoF so why does this happen. And Yes I know you can un-contest it, but you shouldn’t have to between runs. And yes I know I can guest on another server, but CoF is almost always down in every server in the NA, and I can only guest twice a day. Something really needs to be done about this because it’s really starting to get on my nerves. Anyone else agree?

I honestly just find the ele really fun to play. Simple as that. And for those of you who say ele “sucks” in WvW I suggest you actually go and TRY it before you flame them. I do quite well on my D/D ele in WvW and PvE alike. Now I’m not saying the ele’s better at it than any other class, I’m simply saying I like it so I play it.
I personally love ele 100% for the sheer variety. There’s so much you can do, and so much for you to combo. I’ve played other classes and for me they just get boring, mostly because you only get 10 skills, but with ele you get 5 for each attunement, so you have 20 in total; I really can never get bored with ele I swear. As far as supporting goes, eles have good condition removal for themselves and groups. When traited into water, you heal for a pretty large amount too. Especially with cleric’s gear. However, if you went for the full support your damage will be very low, and assuming you’re staff, you’d most likely get destroyed 1v1 in WvW. However it’s still fun and works in PvE and WvW (not too sure about spvp).And ele is just flat out fun I’d recommend it all the way!
Rifle all the way just for those long-range snipes around 13k and up (WvW)
My elementalist is currently level 32 and I’m starting to have difficulties leveling. I’m in the pirate part of the Gendarran Fields area and the enemies just do so much damage to me. Especially considering the fact that they’re all grouped up so I get swarmed by 3+ at a time. So, basically I’m here today to ask you guys what the most effective way to level up as an ele is. I personally like the staff more (especially in group fights) but solo it’s iffy I guess. I’ve played D/D also but I just feel I die too quickly (and yes I’m evading attacks etc.). My trait setup right now is 0/10/5/7- going for 0/10/0/30/30. Any ideas on weapons or anything at all? All help appreciated.
The sad part is that rangers survive practically infinitely more than we do in spvp. Oh and also, their pets do just as much damage as us.

I was wondering if S/D is viable/effective in PvE as it’s my overall favorite, and if so, does anyone know a good S/D build for PvE.
Omg dude you’re 100% right. For one, it’s hard to find at first first (took me a long while to actually find where the freakin guy is), and even then since no one even tries to do it, it’s basically impossible to do. Kinda reminds of the fire shaman from the charr starting area (forget exactly where). It’s not that I don’t like challenges, but, this one’s a little outrageous I think.

It depends I guess. If you’re going for the “lulz” factor (nothing wrong with that), then it succeeds I guess, only in PvE that is. In pvp I doubt itll work but like you said it’s untested there so I won’t go there. If you like the build and find it fun, go with it.

This guy has a point, if you want to get off killshots without people noticing you casting it right away, asura is the way to go. Might also be slightly funny when a little midget hits a 15k+ crit on you (WvW)
Under banner skills you mean the skills you get when you have them in your hand? What do you have in mind? Do you want them to be more like a weapon? I guess banners wouldn’t apply their bonuses when picked up then. Cause that would make them weapons with the buffs that banners apply. That doesn’t sound good at all.
Of course you are right that I don’t main a warrior, but that doesn’t make your previous posts any more constructive. For a Utility skill I think it is pretty darn good. You don’t need to hold it all the time either. Plant it and fire away, or slash away whatever you fancy. I did list what the Banner of discipline does to remind OP of the benefits of a single utility skill. Which I think are great. The OP doesn’t know exactly what he wants, he just wants banners better. Does that suggest more indepth knowledge of banner use?

Engis are perfectly fine atm- for christ’s sake a good engi can be practically impossible to kill at times so don’t complain.
yes there are a few reworks that need to be done here and there but no class is necessarily overpowered
Haha this makes me laugh. The damage of this skill was hurt and now it is slower because of quickness fix. I don’t even have to react to this skill anymore.
Well, that’s the problem right there. No one has to worry about 100b at all in pvp. the only way a warrior can actually land it is with Bull charge/Bolas, meaning that warriors essentially rely on the utilities. No class should rely on their utilities to land one of their weapon skills. My whole point here is how unbalanced it seems (t0 me at least), that mesmers get a skill extremely similar to 100b (just a little different damage etc.), but theirs comes with an evade attacks while casting. They also have an immobilize with their weapon skills (when running S/D skill #3 the second cast), so they don’t need utilities at all to actually land it. I just don’t see why or how this is balanced.
Edit: Let me say this too. Yes, the damage on 100b can be extremely high WHEN it lands. If your utilities are down, the chances of you actually landing it are practically zero

I think they should maybe decrease the CDs on banners to make them more useful all around. Also maybe buff the stats some, as generally it can be more worthwhile just to run signets instead (except they don’t benefit your allies and I’d rather help my allies tbh). I’d really love it if banners were just….better I guess. The cast time is too dam long also. Opinions?
Can anyone link me to any good Sword/dagger builds for ranger?
I find it a little odd that mesmers get a evade on their sword #2 skill (very similar to 100b; they’re rooted when using it), and we don’t get one on 100b. Not sure if this is an obvious balance issue or what. What do you guys think?
Really curious what traits you run to take full advantage of that hp; looks really fun.

(if link doesn’t work just copy paste to browser)Keep all pets up when able, as they’re a lot of your damage, and heal you when they attack. Allow them to do their job by focusing a lot on keeping yourself alive and CCing as much as possible. Try to avoid spamming ccs at once. Try to combo them such as Dark Pact immobilize then as it ends use your Bone Fiend’s immobilize, followed by a Flesh’s charge, then swap to axe/Focus to chill your enemy. If you have life force at this time you can even quickly hit f1, use 2 (for the chill and teleport to them), and then 3 to fear them and immediately leave, and swap back to dagger. By then you should be up for another Dark Pack.
You get dagger 2 for a nice drain to toss while they’re cced, and unless you’re AOE bombed minions recharge fast enough to not be a big deal. Your main source of damage surprisingly is actually the 3 forms of Leech (2 from Vampire runes, and 1 from each of your weapons on swaps. That said, swap often!)

I 100% agree. I used to play warrior a lot, but the lack of variety/adaptability got old.

although I love warrior to death lyonell is right i can’t find a sweetspot in spvp unless I’m going up against braindead team who let me 100blade them as they revive a downed ally or they roll with 0 stunbreakers.
nice killshot btw I can’t get over 9k on my build.
In the map with the commune buffs (forget what it’s called, the Kodan inspired one), you can jump on top of those torches above the gate point and shoot people from there. Might be a nice place to set up a snipe now and again.
Yeah sometimes I see engis up there with their grenade kit out.
Hit a 15k eviscerate and a 14k killshot just a few moments ago (one really squishy necro)

So far it’s actually quite effective, the vulnerability just lets you mow people down.

Dude, as someone who loves warrior and plays rifle warrior (full crit etc.) in spvp, I can say for sure, that you die faster than you could ever imagine. There’s no need to nerf killshot, doing so would just ruin the warrior in my opinion.

YES. The range on the F1 for mace is horrid and almost never hits.
Anyone know a good S/D build?
Not sure if it’s still the case but I’ve heard dreadful things about bolas’ ability to actually hit targets properly. Bull’s charge is nice though, it’s my second favourite physical skill after kick (because I just find kick amusing ;P).

Simply use kick! Then proceed to charge frenzy HB and laugh

I mean I do use it (HB), it’s just situational. Maybe if I took bolas or bulls charge it’d be more useful. I’ll try what you suggested and maybe try bolas.
Traitine has it right, usually about 7k killshots in spvp, unless you get lucky and there’s some super squishy lil kitten and you might hit 12k or so (very rare). The damage in WvW is much higehr though simply because you can achieve higher crit % and crit damage etc. than in spvp. 100% viable and hilarious.
I’ve been running a new build recently. The traits are 25/25/20/0/0 GS and rifle. I wear the knights amulet for power precision and vitality, to get me around 28k hp but still maintain nice burst and crit %. I wear full dolyak runes which makes me a surprisingly bit more tanky. I guess the whole point to not die instantly but still maintain burst damage, which from my experience with this build it does. I’ll switch between rifle and GS when the time’s right. My killshot hits around maybe 5k or so assuming it crits (which is most of the time), and combine that with the mobility of the GS (HB is borderline useless unless they get stunned), I’m liking it. Any ideas of what I should change maybe? Opinions?

What are you smoking?
The thief’s attack has condi and does extra back stab damage. For christs sake thieves back stab me on my warrior for 9k+ at times (with 30 points into defense running hammer sword/shield), the only for me to do that is with HB which never works because people don’t stand still or a killshot which has a long cast time.
Put those drugs down and get a grip!
(on a side note thieves can also basically stay invisible forever if they keep using CnD)
I mean it’s as simple as that too, if they were only faster they’d be great. I got into an epic battle with a D/D ele earlier while I was trying dual mace again and it went on for about 3-5 minutes simply because the attacks weren’t fast enough (and we kept healing but besides that)
I think one of the few big things Anet could do for the warrior right know is to simply make the mainhand mace basic attack respond faster, because as of now, it swings moments after you hit the attack key. If they did this, it might actually make dual mace viable. Of course there are many other things they could improve too, but what are your opinions on this?
At high levels (for me it was above 60) the rifle is great for pve, expecially with the GS like zoran said, but up until those higher levels the LB seems to perform better for pve. It provides great aoe damage (arcing arrow does as much as killshot at early levels for me), with only a little less range, which the rifle only provides once you get the piercing trait. Just thought I’d give my opinion.
