Suggestions for WvW Perk Additions

in WvW

Posted by: Raap.9065

Raap.9065

Merging some of these would be fine. Siege Bunker and Siege Might should form a single 5 point line with the unlock cost added up, meaning each tier adds 1% resistance and 1% damage. This would make it a more interesting line to upgrade.

I also think the Mercenary line is very underwhelming and should perhaps be removed and have Guard slayer lines affect mercenary NPC’s. That being said I don’t really like the current "mandatory" nature of the Guard slayer lines and I believe the four buff perks need to be revised. My reasoning here is that WvW is a PvP game, why should the attackers gain bonus buffs because they tagged a few guards?

Finally, I’d like to see less focus on damage boosts, and more focus on utility and versatility. Future potential Alpha and Omega Golem lines should hopefully focus on things like 10% better movement speed or a longer range on their anti-player abilities.

Do you want Unbalanced, Untested Maps?

in WvW

Raap.9065

I absolutely agree on converting PvE maps into WvW maps. There are many well designed PvE maps in this game and the majority of them would make very cool WvW battlefields, but the best part; ArenaNet would be using development resources on both PvE and WvW at the same time when developing maps, and seeing as development resources are the primary reason WvW is getting little attention, I see no reason why not to go down this path.

I personally don’t care if a supply dolyak takes 10 seconds longer to dump supplies at Y tower compared to X tower. I rather see the game continuously refreshed with different maps that cycle every 1-2 weeks.

Please Get rid of siege decay

in WvW

Raap.9065

It is really annoying to do that every 50 minutes, and very unrewarding. I do see the reasons for keeping it however, both from a server technical perspective, as well as acting as a ’maintenance’ requirement to keep stuff working, just like you need to maintain your car IRL. It acts as a punishing mechanic for servers that don’t have much organisation or dedication, and therefore is important to have.

That said, I think pushing non-ram siege decay timers to 2 hours would allow for more breathing room for those dedicated to maintaining the siege equipment, giving them some time to actually play the game between rounds of pure boredom.

WvW Event Rewards nerfed?

in WvW

Raap.9065

They reduced these rewards in the same update that removed repair cost.

I personally don’t see why they had to remove it from WvW as well, it’s not like the loot gains are amazing. In fact I’ve always found GW2’s reward system to be the most unexciting of any MMO I have ever played, it’s like they are intentionally trying to make sure players earn extremely little in order to push up the value of gold.

How hard would extra maps be?

in WvW

Posted by: Raap.9065

Raap.9065

It has come to the point that as WvW has not received real updates since launch that we ourselves would not mind doing the testing.

I can appreciate that many people don’t like EotM, but don’t conflate a lack of updates that you personally like with a lack of updates. WvW has added a great deal of content and rewards over just the last calendar year.

Hopefully you will find more you like in future updates and we’ll continue to add to the game.

Can you not just use Existing Pve maps as a template for a new WvW map? or even just using the Pve Maps themselves with little Changes for WvW except with 3 servers of people fighting in it, theres so many interesting places and geography I would just love to fight over, even without any objectives, that would do so much to stop the stagnation in WvW

I suggested this in the past. Taking a PvE map as-is, remove most events, add keeps/towers/supply camps for 3 sides... Done. It doesn’t have to be 100% balanced, it doesn’t matter if supply dolyak X takes 10 seconds longer to dump supplies at the first tower compared to dolyak Y.

The game is getting older and the main thing preventing the game from becoming more stale is a change of scenery. Having to turn left instead of right.

A lot of the PvE maps would make for very interesting WvW maps because of the terrain. Most of them aren’t symmetrical which I consider a boon, after such a long time of playing on mirror reflected border maps, I’d like to see some more natural terrain, although I would not object to a WvW’d Divinity’s Breach... Think of all those little streets...

It makes perfect sense from a development logistical perspective to use the hard work that the artists put into PvE maps, to double as working on WvW content.

Again, ANet built up too much hype...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Raap.9065

It’s indeed an overhyped QoL/bug fix patch. None of the stuff they announced so far, outside of the wardrobe, and 40 new traits and how you unlock them, are actually new features.

My definition of new features is clearly different from ArenaNet developers:
- New weapons for all classes?
- New skills for all classes?
- New/missing gear attribute sets?
- New attributes?
- New mechanics that enhance existing gameplay or add to them?

No one is asking for new zones in a features patch, that’s something reserved for content patches. But to call this a features patch and generate silly amounts of marketing hype around it is just... Wrong.

Nerfing Berk actually hurts Cavalier/Valk

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Raap.9065

Raap.9065

This has certainly annoyed me because my Thief was/is in Valkyrie gear using a backstab spec. Not only is this nerfed (because of PvE DPS to boot, which I don’t care about as WvW player), I now also have to look at grinding up another entire Ascended gear set, so I have three choices; Re-grind all my gear to play a non-kitten spec, stick to what I have and just outright play less effectively, or you know, play something else...

I think a solution can be found in raising the Ferocity in non-Berserker critical damage gear, or in class-specific traits. For example, Thief’s Hidden Killer which currently does 100% critical hit chance when attacking from stealth would gain an additional percentage damage increase for that critical hit, the equivalent of what is currently being subtracted from the critical damage bonus gained with Ferocity? (Which is somewhere around 35% damage.)

Edit: I think my main issues with dramatic changes like this that 1) They are coming from PvE which I don’t care about but the changes still affect me, or 2) These dramatic changes render previously acquired Ascended gear obsolete for a spec, I’d be able to live with this if affected stat combos are allowed a one-time change after such a balance patch (how Legendary weapons work, but one-time after such patch). Is such a thing really that unreasonable to ask?

Seeing as my critical damage is being made into a joke, I think I’ll go full troll/"support" spec using Resilience of Shadows - Providing it actually applies the effect to allies as well, otherwise it is useless. Still, I wish conditions were also affected by the damage reduction, seeing as that’s the number one incoming damage these days.

The other traits seems incredibly underwhelming to me.

Edit: Poster above me mention it possibly stacking with Ironhide for 100% direct damage reduction, that might be quite useful.

This makes any backstab spec obsolete. Can I get an Ascended gear refund? I won’t be able to play my build after this over-nerf.

I mean, I understand the decision to nerf it for PvE as berserker was too dominant in DPS, but Thieves and their mixed PvE and WvW experience is completely overlooked with this.

I’d have less of an problem with balance changes were it not for the horrible Ascended gear grind locking you into a single character and spec.

Just saying, but as great as Soule is, I am really hoping the new team of composers get the opportunity they deserve for the spotlight.

I would have to agree on this. While Soule’s work is fine on it’s own, I feel the tracks he made are mostly disconnected from the game, as if he made them with no knowledge of the game itself, perhaps early in development. I also am not a great fan of Soule’s build-up followed by the sudden drop in pace in his music. It’s like he is teasing you; "Here is where my music gets interesting, but I’m going to stop it and return to a slower pace after three seconds!". My preference goes to more context-fitting and lengthy tunes.

Why I've changed my mind on Ascended

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Raap.9065

Raap.9065

This is unfortunately one of the fundamental problems with the concept of gear advancement within a game that has such vast character built variation and at the same time is so vulnerable to small changes to balance affecting entire play styles.

In my opinion, if ArenaNet starts to do heavy handed balance changes, they need to accompany this with a change to Ascended gear, and I would suggest one of the two below options:

1- Dramatically reduce the cost of Ascended gear so players can actually gear up after a balance patch cripples their play style. Additionally, this would also make alts more realistic to play and gear up.

2- All Ascended gear gets the Legendary approach of being able to pick a stat combination, perhaps at a slight cost.

I personally just finished crafting my first Ascended weapon. This took a lot of my gold and time as I am not a farmer or trade post player. In the light of the likely chance the next wave of changes might cripple my current play style, I have aborted progress on the remaining Ascended gear.

New WvW maps, a possibility?

in WvW

Posted by: Raap.9065

Raap.9065

I don’t understand why they don’t simply replace two of the three borderlands with altered PvE maps. All they need to do is put a balanced number of holdings for each side on the map and change some parts of the terrain where needed. You don’t need mirrored maps to have fun maps.

They could do plenty of maps like this in addition as well, perhaps one for each world area: Ascalon, Orr, Maguuma, Shiverpeaks. We already have Kryta maps, both the current borderlands and EB can be considered of that theme.

They could even take Divinity’s Reach and turn it into a WvW map (you can probably call it Divinity’s Breach for obvious reasons!), and replace the 6 god shrines with Tower/Keep locations, and camps in between, perhaps a Stonemist style holding in the center. With all those small streets, think of all the tactical possibilities, it could even break the zerg metagame up at least on such a map. Hows that for urban warfare? It would probably work perfectly as well since that city’s design is balanced right away.

This stupid forum logged me out while posting and ate my post.

1. Each server gets their own borderland that reflects that server’s name. Dragonbrand actually is in the Dragonbrand, Maguuma actually is in the Maguuma jungle. These are released over a period of eight months to cover the eight tiers.

This would be amazing but let’s face reality, it will never, ever, happen. It would be too much work and ArenaNet has shown to not really put much effort into WvW content in the past 7-8 months. Too much work in logistics as well, take for example my server, Desolation. They would have to create all-new art assets to re-create this location in GW2 (that said, it can’t be too hard, since that place was mostly, well, desolated).

In the few days I’ve tried to play WvW again for Desolation since launch times, I’ve seen many good fights ruined because all you get to do is auto attack, and in big fights the best autoattack class wins you the battle, and currently the whole metagame revolves around staff guardians and mesmer portals exactly because of this problem.

Does the downed mechanic have a place in WvW?

in WvW

Posted by: Raap.9065

Raap.9065

Downed state itself is fine, at most it needs a slower mid-combat revive speed to allow players more time to focus fire a zerg mass-reviving a downed player, or force them to use "revive" skills more often.

The real problem is the combined effect of the AOE-tagging nature of WvW combat and Rally. It creates a waterfall effect in Zerg vs Zerg play whereby the first zerg to lose a few people, will end up causing Rally’s on the other zerg, making that zerg progressively more likely to win that fight with each new Rally going off.

So, in my opinion:
- Downed player revive speed slowed down by an extra 50% when in combat, in WvW.
- Rally mechanic removed from WvW.

What's your favourite Jumping Puzzle?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Raap.9065

did somebody say breaking maps? I may decide to roll an engi just to be able to use jump shot to get places. I love the high cliffs you guys have made, and really wanted to explore more.

I used to bypass map boundries out of boredom, in some cases I’d just be jumping a bit and before I realised I was in places not intended to be reached.

Name one map or one specific area in a map and I most likely walked out of it at some point, or would be able to without much effort, without the use of fancy leap abilities (although they can be very useful).

I’d say the three Orr zones are probably easiest to climb out, I’ve jumped every building, every map edge, and several more places in just Cursed Shore alone, simply running around looking for Ori nodes back in the day (then getting distracted or bored and proceeding to jump on rocks).

I do this is all games, I got this weird dedication to reaching places developers didn’t think players would reach. I report each of those locations... Sadly they aren’t as creative as I am in reaching them, using cheap invisible walls to block off areas rather than creativity.

I recently revisited some of the area’s I managed to enter around launch, I reported them then, but you can still acces them today.

Anyway, I’d like more jumping puzzles, it’s the only properly unique PvE element GW2 has compared to most MMO’s. I get working on big jumping challenges takes a solid amount of time, but I certainly don’t mind seeing regular additions of smaller ones, rather than a big one every few months.

The Great WvW Update?

in WvW

Posted by: Raap.9065

Raap.9065

Isn’t this just the initial WvW update? I’m pretty certain Anet said they would be continuing to update WvW with more and more over the coming months.

That’s the problem, though. It’s been what, 7 or 8 months since launch now? This is their first WvW update, how long do they expect their players will wait for the next one?

To me it just signals that they prefer their PvE audience, for reasons I can speculate about. I think they very much underestimated WvW potential, development cost, support cost, and player interest. I wouldn’t say the current player activity in WvW is anything what it was several months ago, but this is a product of neglect.

Anyway, we still have no developer comming in here to quickly tell the players what’s going on. This highlights the problems I already pointed out in my initial post: They let hype build up, only to let expectations down. A very simple post 2-3 months ago would have sorted this out.

Bring back orbs with outmanned bonus and make it so you have to kill the keep lord to get the orb.

This was suggested hundreds of times when they removed the orbs. I really couldn’t believe they went in favour of a complete feature removal over two fairly small changes that would fix the two problems; The balance issue it caused, and the one man teleport hackers creating too much impact.

I’m a dungeon master and I can assure you running COF over and over for gold is not fun, people do it only for gold. Get tired of hearing, ’I make no money in wvw yet those pve guys are having the time of their lives running COF 3000 times’

For the record, fractals is pretty boring also after the first few runs, by the time you did 200-300 fractals to get all your ascended gear. I’d be as happy as anyone to be able to have fun in wvw while getting as much gold as a COF run and earning as many Ascended as fractals

It would be unfair to make WvW the best source of gold suddenly. I also don’t believe anyone is asking for this, just a better balance between the income and expenses. Simply removing gold cost for upgrades would be one way to solve the biggest drain.

However, you do highlight the problem below all of it: In order to get anything done, you need to endure a boring grind which many players do not consider to be fun. GW2 manifesto comming at you.

I just wonder who thought that WvW players wanted "new abilities" to be able to "take less damage from guards". Honestly, who was the one that developed that idea? Did they ever play WvW? I imagine it probably went a bit like this:

Yes, let’s add things the players really want... like a progression system that involves rankings that reflect nothing of actual skill, but entirely of time invested. It will make it easier for them to exploit already broken mechanics! Yes, that is a good idea.

I’m just surprised that this is there response to a very broken part of the game, where players have remained patient for months with promises of legitimate fixes. I would be ashamed to have claimed and hyped this up. I honestly couldn’t be more disappointed in the way the "Great WvW Update" is being handled. Literally the most hyped up piece of junk to date.

PvE or GTFO is basically what this patch means.

But don’t worry, one of the new content updates is heralds! Because those aren’t already in the game! *facepalm*

Don’t forget the level 13 radar dishes in the two starting zones, clearly also more important to preview than Ascended items, content additions, and currency income and expense consistency changes for WvW...

How can anyone be serious when they come into this thread and even suggest that these critical WvW updates might still be in the patch, when the preview is practically dedicated to the most insignificant PvE changes. Surely, those critical WvW updates would be spotlight stealers, if they were actually in the patch.

But like I said in my original post, I’d love to be wrong, I’d love to see ArenaNet surprise us and actually show their players they made an effort to match their own hype generation engine. Until then, I keep my feet firmly in the realm of realism.

You make a profit in WvW because you don’t buy upgrades or siege equipement. You can not make a profit if you do, and even if you don’t, the level 20 blues you loot from underleveled enemies, and the level 80 grey items, really don’t do much more than cover your repair bill.

You can use badges of honor to buy rams, treb, catas etcetc ... and for the repair cost: try to die less...

I rarely die, but I do deploy more siege and purchase more upgrades than PvE Farmer Bob over there.

Your attempt to derail my thread into a low quality flame contest ends here however.

Wait, you spoke about repair costs ... if you don’t die you have no repair costs. Sieges can be bought via badges .. so you can sell all your loot and make money.

Repair cost is just one of several expenses in WvW. Badges help, but badges don’t cover all your non-repair cost. Additionally, and perhaps this is a point I didn’t make clear enough, is that the gold obtained in WvW is still a complete joke compared to PvE.

It’s a big difference. WvW players talk Silver per hour, PvE farmers Gold per hour. It’s fine that PvE yields more gold, that’s what PvE is for, but it’s not fine that WvW is probably a bigger mandatory gold sink than PvE is. PvE offers a lot of optional gold sinks, WvW offers a lot of gold sinks that, while technically optional, any serious WvW player who plays "for the team", can not consider optional.

Does that make more sense?

The orbs were an example of simple content (re-)additions. They could be adding anything that would then be considered content, from complicated new maps, or simply a new siege weapon.

And I already said a real WvW player doesn’t need a progression threadmill, so I’m not sure why you’re suggesting I claimed you need one.

The Great WvW Update?

Then the feedback would be, announce changes further than 4 days in advance so feedback can actually mean something.

I won’t disagree with the fact culling is a big deal, I did clearly mention this in my post. But I am in my right to be critical towards ArenaNet for how they handled this update, and WvW in general.

Is the PTR server online ? Man you’ve been so lucky to try this new patch before it goes live...

I rather give my thoughts based on what we already know, than wait until the last moment and only confirm what I suspected. At that point, early feedback is no longer of any meaning.

I didn’t mention small details in my post. If stuff like this was infact in the patch, I would expect them to be listed in the preview, next to other important changes such as level 13 listening posts inside Norn and Charr starting zones.

The Great WvW Update?

in WvW

Posted by: Raap.9065

Raap.9065

(Removed – discussion of possible moderation is not allowed. Carry on! ~ Dalmarus)

A few months ago, the first words got out that WvW will be getting a much needed update. An update it badly needed as WvW suffers from a bunch of problems, which affect the (fun) core WvW gameplay. This update got hyped up a fair bit, and also got delayed.

But delays happen, and for such an important update to the game, no one has the right to complain about a delay. Today, we finally know the details of this much hyped WvW update.

- Still no Ascended gear from WvW, forcing WvW players to PvE in order to stay statisticly competitive.
- Still no solution to the huge gold drain in WvW, forcing WvW players to PvE in order to even pay their repair bill, not even thinking about paying for all the other WvW costs.
- Still no additions to the content itself or even the re-addition of Orbs. The core game is fun, but having additions every once in a while wouldn’t hurt.
- But we get a carrot on the stick leveling system for PvE players, something a dedicated WvW player doesn’t care about since he or she plays WvW with or without a carrot to ‘progress’ after.

And this took them all this time, while hyping “the big WvW update”? It seems the only redeeming part of this update, and the only change WvW players will care about, is the fix for the dreaded culling issue.

I’m sorry ArenaNet, but after so many months, you finally come with what was the most anticipated update to the game since launch, only to monumentally let down the expectations of many players.

I hope there is more to this patch than the preview suggests, I hope I am wrong on all the points I mentioned. But given the recent patch history, all I can say is: Surprise me, ArenaNet.

Total Make-over Kit, Sylvari Glow [Merged]

Hello, bumping this thread on behalf of a family member.

She purchased the total make-over kit (after initially purchasing the hair one, not realising the glow is a total-only feature, you might want to add glow to the hair restyle kit), and reports her character’s glow completely stopped working as well. I was able to personally verify that it was indeed not working, while other Sylvari characters next to her character had their glow working just fine.

This is a pattern I noticed a long while ago, and is why I took a break from the game. I intended to come back this month for the WvW update, but, yeah, it got put in the backburner as expected.

Combined with their inability to fix the culling, unwillingness to fix game mechanics and just remove them instead (orbs), and now also the player cap reduction per WvW map... They should just be honest and say they can’t support a WvW community.

This post will probably get deleted...

Wait, hold on a minute.

Cantha is not the first expansion, and possibly never will be an expansion at all, same for Elona?

I really didn’t see that comming. I was expecting GW2 to stay true to the first game, and it would be a shame to see these places abandoned for simple political reasons.

What's your favourite Jumping Puzzle?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Raap.9065

Raap.9065

Jumping puzzels (or jumping challenges as they should be called as not all of them involve a puzzle), are one of the best PvE elements GW2 has to offer. We’ve seen dungeons and questing a hundred times, but using the game’s physics and other mechanics to overcome challenges, is a more fun experience, and rarely seen in an MMO.

I’m actually a bit disappointed that the recent updates added no new jumping challenges, I kind of assumed this would be something we would see regular additions of, but currently it seems like an almost forgotten game element, placed behind in priority on dungeons and gear grinds in terms of PvE experiences.

Stay innovative ArenaNet, wasn’t that the marketting gimmick? Would be a shame to see all developer attention be spend on the same old stuff we’ve seen in all previous MMO’s instead of unique things like the jumping challenges.

To Josh: Keep up the good work, I hope to see more of your work in the game soon. On a side note, I’ve reported many locations in the game where I was able to get out of the intended playfield. Very often these locations would make solid jumping challenges with some small or large changes. I mentioned these potentially interesting jumping challenge locations in terrain bug reports, and I wouldn’t be surprised if more people also did that. If you’re looking for interesting locations to add more of these challenges using existing terrain, you might want to dig up old terrain bug reports.

As for my personal favorites? Besides the ones that look amazing, from a game mechanics perspective it would have to be the Clock Tower and Scavangers Chasm. I like plenty of others, but many don’t offer as big a challenge as the Clock Tower, and others are too hand-holdy, too one-directional, where as the Chasm can make you properly lost and confused.

Desolation Recruitment, A Tier 1 Server

Good luck and enjoy your stay on Desolation, or more specificly, in WvW for Desolation.

Desolation offers one of the best Guild and cross-Guild community environments that this type of game can offer. I know a lot of effort was put in to this by people, it certainly didn’t fall off a tree by itself. And it is this level of dedication Desolation players have that keeps resulting in the server to rise back to T1 in WvW, even after several periods of doubt, where people would say the server is done for.

Have fun.

First it was zerging, then it was RUIN nightcapping, now it is another list of excuses. I’m fairly sure I’ve read all possible excuses that people can come up with since launch.

I guess this game really didn’t change one bit since I last played.

Good luck in T1 again, Desolation and Iron (and whoever your allies are these days!). I might pop up a few times for some mandatory supply wasting on tactically well placed flame rams.

Can't progress because RNG hates me

No ring after 10 consecutive runs is statistically unlikely.

Only if you knew the drop rates. I’ve done my 8th daily without a ring, and I know a lot of other peope that never got rings either.

Since this is the only place to get Ascended gear, you’re forced to run it over and over. And like with any repeated PvE content, it get’s boring, fast.

7 dailies... no ring?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Raap.9065

Raap.9065

Ok, I get it, it’s rng. But c’mon 7 daily chests and not a single ring while others I play with have got a ring from almost every daily. At first I figured I would get a ring sooner or later since so many people got them, but this is getting ridiculous. I like a challenge but having to progress from 20-30 with 5 agony resistance is a pain when you know there are people around with 30 resistance and far into the 30s already.

Very annoying design of loot. Otherwise awesome dungeon!

Edit: Make that 8 potential dailies with no ring. Starting to think there’s some bug in this system…

Must be a bug. I’m in the same boat as you, I never get a ring, yet people in my party almost always do.

Infact, there appears to be just two people: People who get rings all the time, and people who never get rings. This seems to be a bug.

If it’s no bug, then this is probably the biggest mandatory RNGfest I’ve seen in any western MMO. Don’t forget, on top of only having one shot at one ring per 24 hours, you still have to deal with the extra ‘bonus RNG’ of actually getting the rings you need.

Since this is the only way to obtain ascended gear, this is… Terrible, to put it nicely.

Boom.

That is the door closing behind my back.

Terrible, over-hyped patch. Balance changes? Might as well just call them text fixes with a few semi-random nerfs here and there. New content? PvE only. Oh yeah, and have a nice gear threadmill that forces me, as a WvW player, to PvE. Didn’t learn from the halloween chest drama? Just do it all over again for another cash grab.

I can go on, but the hundreds of posts made by other users already sum up my thoughts on this patch.

Enjoy your ‘innovative’ WoW-clone themepark game. I won’t even touch this game with a 10 meter stick anymore as this new direction is not what I bought this game for.

WvW is the heart of GW2 - How to reward it?

in WvW

Posted by: Raap.9065

Raap.9065

- Siege equipment that requires slightly less supply to build.

- Personal supply caches that allow people to scrounge an extra 10 supply once every 15 minutes or so, working similar to the repair canisters.

That’s bordering to pay-to-win too much. Anything close to that will instantly have me stop playing, and I think others would do the same.

GW2 isn’t a cash shop model game, it’s a hybrid of cash shop and title purchase. I paid 55 euro for the game and that’s almost 4 months of sub time for a subscription based MMO. You’re not playing GW2 for free, you paid for it, and there is no justification for this game to ever sell power in the cash shop.

Western keep, unwanted step child of all keeps?

in WvW

Posted by: Raap.9065

Raap.9065

Bay keep is the worst keep to hold as others mentioned already.

Let’s quickly compare the two side borderland keeps…

Bay
- 3 outer gates.
- 3 inner gates, 4 inner destroyable walls, with north ones easy to treb from the inner cliff.
- Has water and a general layout that makes moving around in it a pain, and the north cliff is a boon to any enemy that breached the outer walls.
- Entire eastern section has destroyable walls, next to open fields, making it easy to hit them.
- Easiest of all keeps to exploit into.
- Can be trebbed from Garrison, with treb positions that can only be countered by getting close to them. Badly placed trebs can be destroyed with ballistas from the ground.
- Acces to Garrison from Bay is through a small path with stairs, a very easy to defend choke point.
- A very wide and open lord room, making a lord room defense difficult to pull off.
- Because siege weapons like arrow carts cannot target enemies in the water, the water can become a safe zone for attackers.

Hills
- 2 outer gates.
- 2 inner gates, 2 inner destroyable walls with no real weak points.
- Entire western section has destroyable walls but because of the height, any catapult effort is easy to counter. Trebs are even easier to counter, since they can only be placed in a single, predictable location.
- Inner layout forces enemies into a predictable pattern, allowing for easier defense using siege equipement.
- Having to place siege equipement in only 4 critical locations instead of 6 is a big economical advantage.
- Garrison water gate is closest to Hills, allowing for quicker reinforcements from Hills when on an offensive.
- A very small lord room with a very small hall leading into it, making it a very good bottleneck to wipe attackers.

Garrison has it’s own issues aswell ofcourse, such as 5 outer gates, 6 outer destroyable walls, and a water gate inner defense area that is a pain to defend from because of AOE. But still, Bay is by far the worst and most annoying keep to hold.

My solution:

Instead of just making Bay ‘better’, I think Hills needs more changes to make the game play out less predictable in that area.

- Add a 3rd outer gate to Hills, on the west side of the keep. Create a land bridge that goes from the keep area to the hill where you normally place trebs on to shoot at the walls. This adds a much needed extra attack path to the outer section of Hills.

- Add an additional path and gate leading into the inner area on Hills keep. I suggest a mirror of the current path leading to the north inner gate, on the south side of the lord room.

- Bay should no longer be treb-able from Garrison. This is probably the most critical flaw in Bay’s design right now.

- Bay keep needs less water. Add some more dock-like structures to act as bridges. This will make traveling around the place faster and less annoying.

- Garrison’s water gate area both inner and outer needs a redesign: The entrance should be in the middle of the lake, not close to either side keep. The inner door area needs to be more defendable.

I think these are the most important areas. Keep in mind, both keeps need their own strengths are weaknesses, so we don’t end up with 2 of the same keep layouts.
