Yeah, your getting packet loss across your ISP and on down the line. This isn’t good and could account for your issues. If your playing on wireless, you could try connecting directly to you home router via cat5 cable. You could also make sure to disable the firewall on your computer. Check your router logs (if you know how) and look for anything unusual. If nothing else works, contact your ISP and forward them the same log file you posted here.

That sounds like a network issue.

Do the following steps then post the reults here.

1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 folder.
2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
3. Right-click on “GW2.exe – Shortcut” and select “Rename.”
4. Rename this file to “Guild Wars 2 Diagnostic.”
5. Right-click on “Guild Wars 2 Diagnostic” and select “Properties.”
6. Locate the “Target” line and add the following to the end " -diag"
Your target line should look like this: “C:\Gamse\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” -diag
7. Click “Ok” to save your changes.
8. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Diagnostic” to start the test.

Once completed, please click “View Results” and save the results to a text file on your desktop. Once saved, please attach that to the thread for review.

Pozmol ..you rigs problem is the CPU ..its AMD.
Your playing a cpu intensive game. AMD isnt really the choice for gaming tbh, becouse atm gaming is not optimized to use all threads. Even their best gaming CPU is no match for Intel’s gaming CPU’s. Its kinda like buying a GTX 630 over a GTX 670, the 630 is a media gpu the 670 is a gaming gpu.
AMD is media basicaly and Intel is gaming. You get what you pay for unfortunatly.
I got nothing against AMD i used to use them back in the day ..their cpu’s are fine ..for multithread optimised applications like encoding and such ..but for gaming Intel is the clear choice.

If a person cant afford a Intel setup (as is the main reason people use AMD) then they have to be prepaired to get what they pay for bassicaly…every now and then AMD may come out with somthing that is actually really good for the money ..like their current generation GPU’s ..but on average ..they are the ‘cheap’ option for a reason.

Please dont take this as fanboy talk or being bias ..its just fact.

Hmn, that’s funny. Cause I’m running a Phenom 1100t (no OC and stock cooler) and getting average 70-80 FPS (with spikes up to 100+) in most areas with it not dropping below 40 FPS in the worse areas (like LA). But I’m sure that’s not because of my AMD CPU.

BTW, I see just as many FPS issues threads with people running Intel CPUs.

Well thats not really a fair comparison. The 1100t was the best (and probably is still the best) amd cpu out there. Just because you get good fps with an 1100t doesn’t mean the other amd cpus should get the same frame rate.

That wasn’t the comparison or point of my reply. Re-read SolarNova’s comment and then that should put my reply to him in better context for you.

I did re-read SolarNova’s comment and for the most part he is right. Just because you have an amd cpu doesn’t mean you are going to get bad fps, but a lot of the amd cpus do suck compared to i5’s. The 1100t is an exception to the rule ,and I wouldn’t brag about 40-50 fps in pve (which alteris did and made the point that amd cpus don’t suck because he was able to get 40-50 fps) :/ 70-80 fps is great. If you have a setup that works for you, then good for you. I wouldn’t make a blanketed statement that simply isn’t true though that just because you have a amd cpu and have good fps that amd cpus normally aren’t crap because they are, in comparison to modern sandybridge/ivybridge intel cpus. The people with intel cpus that are getting bad fps are the generation of cpus before sandybridge, and core 2 duos, OR they have decent cpu’s with something like the nvidia 680 and 690, which to be honest, don’t perform as well as amd GPU’s for some reason in GW2 (when they should do just as well if not perform better than amd gpus.

You’re quite smug about the fact that you have an amd cpu and you get good fps. I would be willing to bet that you either don’t have everything turned on high, or you have cards in sli/crossfire. It’s not a conspiracy theory that amd cpus suck compared to intel cpus. All you need to do is look up the tom’s hardware article that plainly shows amd cpus getting their kittens kicked by intel cpus.

LOL! Hmn, ok. If you say so.

rolls eyes

Moving on…

EDIT: You know what, I wasn’t going to comment further but I am. I find it funny how just as many people with newer intels (yes, look through the forums and you will find plenty of posts with people with i3/i5/i7 processors having FPS issues) posting on these forums with FPS issues. The standard reply is “OC It”. Yet someone with an AMD processor posts the same issue and the standard reply is “AMD sucks”. This also applies to GPUs. Yet, when someone , such as me, post a reply to the conrtrary, I’m an ecxeption to the rule, a fluke of nature. Yet that doesn’t seem to be the case for Intels.

Quite smug? No more so than you or the others posting on here about their Intels. How does me posting info that is contradictory to another persons being smug? Again, no more so than you or anyone else on these forums. So my clearly inferior AMD processor, with NO OC and stock fan gets pretty kitten close performance as you or others with heavily OC’d Intel processors (everything on max with the exception of shaders on medium). Again, NO OC.

Sooo, if I OC, I’m pretty sure I’’l be able to run everything max and still get the same performance. But of course, I’m the exception to the rule.

And BTW, single GPU (HD 7970). But I’m sure you or others will find other excus…er reasons why my AMD system gets good performance despite the CPU. In any case, I ABSOLUTELY don’t care whether you believe anything I say or not because it simply does not matter to me.

Now I think I’m done with this topic.

I’m running a X4 955BE at 3.9GHz with 8GB of DDR3 1600MHz with an HD4890 1GB at 1680×1050 with nearly everything maxed minus shadows which are medium, and FXAA and Depth blur. I mostly see 45-50+ FPS less in big fights or places like LA then I see 40ish FPS, saying that …its AMD isn’t the case there are even ppl with high end Intel CPU’s with very high OCs 4.5GHz+ and GPUs that put mine to literal shame that are getting crippled when running GW2.

And to Pozmol, what is your GPU ? and is your X4 965BE OCed at all ?

Alteris, what kinda CPU cooling are you running? Looking to start OCing mine but need to get a decent cooler first. Got mine OC’d up to 3.8GHz (in testing) on stock cooler but then it started wigging out due to increased heat.

I’m using a Zalman CNPS10X Performa with 2 120mm Areocool Shark blue LED fans max I have seen my CPU is about 46c at load in Sony Vegas (video editing) its about $55 USD at newegg.com and the fan it comes with is actually a Very nice fan, that I actually have ziptied to my Gigabyte HD4890OC which came stock with another Zalman cooler lols and it actually stays as cool as my CPU unless at Full load which then it might hit 55-57c but never anything higher lols.

This is actually my channel showing the CPU cooler in my case just to show you what I am using and how it is in the case.

Some settings you might want to look into are.

CPU/NB Voltage: v1.2 is what I use atm
CPU Vcore: v1.3875 is what I’m set to at 3.9GHz, anything under v1.45 is good, but note that passed v1.4 and you start to get lots of heat due to increased voltage. Also some motherboards will actually add some voltage ontop of your setting to compensate Vdroop (Drop in Vcore voltage) Also note that a Vcore pass v1.48 with a X4 Phenom and your want to consider getting water cooling but I don’t advise going passed v1.45 if possible, unless you want to fork ou the dow on a Corsair H100 which are actually nice when setup right :P.
Ram timings I use are 9-9-9-24-2T @ 1600MHz @ v1.5, I’m using 2 different sets of G.Skill otherwise I’d be 7-8-7-24-2T :/ my sister figured she’d suprise me with something PC related 1 christmas LOL.
NorthBridge Freq, or NB is 2.4GHz, usually this is a good medium to be at and since my ram is different sets I don’t mess with it lols.
HT Link is at 2GHz usually will want to leave this alone at 2GHz.

Nice, thanks for the info. What are you using to OC your processor? I actually downloaded AMD Overdrive and it seems like a very nice utility to OC the Phenom series, seems fairly granular.

Im using a Coolermaster Hyper EVO on my 1090t@4ghz i have never seen it past 40c neither during a prime test, or playing BF3, playing GW2 it hardly gets to 34c. Ambient temp between 18-34c. It is pretty good cooler for 30bucks, it is better than my h80 watercooling system i got on my i7 setup. It was fun cuz i had the h80 hooked on the AMD board to begin with and i bought this little Coolermaster when i started overclocking the 2600k and i put the H80 on the intel, now after some testing i realized the phenom is coolest than ever i mean 40c during prime@4ghz is ridiculous, and actually the i7 watercooled gets kinda hot 75c@4.6ghz while rendering, i feel like i should switch them arround but im just lazy.

That’s some pretty good cooling. For $30 I might just give that a try. Was looking at liquid coolers, but decent ones start at $60 and above, well above if you want to get a good one.

OP, I recently upgraded my GPU to a newer AMD (I also run the Phenom 1100t) and right away ran into the same issue as you (BSOD with GW2 only). After all the troubleshooting, it came down to a BIOS update for me.

BTW, it wasn’t the processor and there is nothing wrong with the Phenom 1100t and this game. I get an average of 70-80 FPS in PvE and the game runs buttery smooth (mostly highest settings). You have to keep in mind that even though you and I have a Phenom, there are still so many variables between our systems to account for issues.

As far as the crashing I would say do a clean wipe of your GPU drivers using something like Drivesweeper (if you didn’t already).

As far as playing on higher graphics settings I would say it’s not your GPU limiting you. Unfortunately this game engine is as much CPU as it is GPU dependent. Being able to play on higher settings not only requires a decent GPU but a decent CPU as well. Unfortunately, your CPU barely makes minimum requirements.

@Rabbiddog sorry to hear that your are getting BSOD try doing a full driver clean see if that helps try downloading driver sweper and Ccleaner.

Driver sweeper
http://www.guru3d.com/content_page/guru3d_driver_sweeper.html
Ccleaner
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Uninstall your AMD drivers allso uninstyall PhysX aswell odds are it will be there somewhere alot of games need it installed to run, then boot in to safe mode and run driver sweeper then reboot and use the registry cleaner bit of Ccleaner, you might need to run that more than once for a full clean. Then reinstall your AMD drivers and install the latest version of PhysX aswell see if that helps.

Had a similer thing happen on my old 6970 just reinstallign the drivers ddint fix it but reinstalling PhysX aswell did the job, could allso be worth updateing your motherboard BIOS aswell as sometimes that can have compatability problems with some cards.

Also if you have a freind or familiy member with a powerfull enough PSU in there PC who would let you teest your card, then that would help rule out either the card or the PSU being faulty a swell.

Already did that when I first installed the new card (see previous posts of mine).

Looking at BIOS now.

Already been doing that. All temps are within norms, GPU and CPU are set to stock speeds (no OC), tried with CAP and no CAP drivers. All settings according to the Devs sticky. My computer still blue screens after about 5 minutes of playing GW2.

I’v had 3 friends with the excact same problem over the years ( last one 2 months ago). Crashing after 5 min in game after changed a piece of hardware. Solutions for all 3 of them: buy new PSU. They all had different psu’s with enough watts. But the different outputs from the psu had fault or couldn’t deliver to the new hardware. One of them (a year ago) even had a only 1 year old 600w psu. And the problem started as soon as he changed graphics card, no symptoms before that whatsoever. just like you. He got a new PSU and it worked.

Try another PSU. I can almost guarantee its the problem! . As i had much experience with that particular problem and what your describing is the psu. Either faulty or not enough umpfh!

This was an initial thought of mine since my new GPU comes overclocked and was thinking the voltages weren’t up to par for OC. But after setting the clock speeds back to stock and checking the voltages, everything is up to par. Couple that with the fact that so far, this has only been happening in GW2.

I have already been playing other games (some that are just as graphically demanding as GW2) and no blue screens. Logic and troubleshooting 101 would dictate that if it was a PSU issue, I would be having blue screens other times as well, which so far hasn’t been the case.

Not sure. But your are definitely getting packet loss across your ISP right off the bat on the first hop and just about every hop afterwards. That is not good especially for MMO’s. I would make sure you have all the latest drivers for all your hardware if this is a new system, especially your NIC.

You could also run this diagnostic on your other system not having the issue and post that here as well. Then I could compare the two.

BTW Rabbiddog, if you downloaded and installed the CAP drivers, can be the reason of your issue. CAP is meant to be used just by crossfire systems, 2 GPUs

That’s what I thought too but have had others tell me that it’s not just for crossfire. But I am going to do some more digging and find out for sure. If it’s not needed then I will remove the CAP drivers.

What was your old card, rabbid? It seems a little premature to buy a new card, get blue screens and then blame the card.

dual 5870’s. It’s not the card per se. But it is the card in conjunction with GW2. I’ve already extensively tested it with other games and no blue screens (TSW looks awesome on DX11 and everything maxed BTW). I’ll keep testing and messing with it but so far it is only when I play GW2 that my computer blue screens (which has NEVER happened prior to this). I’ll keep messing with it, perhaps it’s still a setting somewhere that is not compatible.

Yes, but the previous drivers never took into account the 7000 series hardware changes. I’ve been playing the game since early release just about daily. I went out of town for one week, came back and tried to log into the game to play a bit and after just a couple of minutes playing the computer shuts down then restarts. I have checked and the computer is not overheating, the GPU is not overheating. I ran two other games to see if the same thing happens and it does not, it seems to be something that only happens when playing GW2. It has been working perfectly for the last couple of months, but now this is happening. Anyone else having the same problem? Anyone know what might be the problem?

your computer video is being over clocked, and its over heating our compute. You need to find updated drive NCSOFT has negelected to tell their customers about. If you do not do this it will damage your laptop. I had the same problems and it was over clocking my video cad to 90-100 FPS, if you log into your Options menu and see what your FPS during game play you will see if its higher than normal. That if you ever monitor your FPS before.

LOL! Wow. Ignorance breeds contempt. Stop spreading your ignorance and educate yourself on how computers work. While your at it learn about the in game settings such as frame limiters.

Not saying it’s a network issue with your router, but that still doesn’t mean it’s not something network related to that computer. The issues you are describing are typically related to network issues, latency. Be it on your end or server side. You could also try the following steps and post the results here. This would give you a better idea if it is a network issue or not.

Meh, hard to say. There was a group pf players in SWotR who did it and claimed it made the game run much better. Really wouldn’t know until someone actually tried it.

It could be done. There’s a couple apps out there (I forget the names) that allow for this. Some folks were doing it with SWtoR. Some of these apps already have game ‘profiles’ setup. But seeing as GW2 is still new, you’d probably have to create one. But regardless, it could probably be done.

@Rabbiddog, Make sure you download the 12.11 beta driver for best perfomance, and do not install the driver that comes on the disc. also make sure you download and install the seperate CAPs Driver aswell 10.1

Yup, already downloaded them in preparation for the new arrival I also have Drivesweeper installed to completely wipe any current drivers.

If he is having an issue he is describing, that sounds more like a network issue. When you preform a task (click a skill) and it takes a second or two for the action to actually happen, then that speaks of a network latency issue. Chael, if this is happening with pretty much anything you do then I would check into your network setup with the new computer. Is this a laptop? I have a feeling this is a laptop.

If it is, are you using wireless? If so, try connecting the laptop directly to your home router via cat5 cable, turn off wireless and see if you get the same issues.

My HD 7970 GHz edition arrives today. I will post what my experience is with it in this game later after I’ve had time to install and test. I fully expect there to be some loss of performance due to the ‘newness’ of the new series and drivers. But, I’ll see for sure later.

Basically your whole system is a bottle neck. CPU is going to constantly peg out at %100, GW2 is LAA enabled which means it will want to use up to (and possibly more than) 2GB of RAM, but you only have 2GB total so your OS will reserve a portion of that for the core system. More RAM may improve performance some. Since you are running a 64bit OS I would recommend at least 4GB.

You could try overclocking your CPU though I’m not sure how capable your CPU is to that. In addition, if you’ve never OC’d before, then I wouldn’t recommend it with out first reading up on the subject. Unfortunately there is not much you can do short of buying a new updated system. I wish I could offer up more help, but your options are very limited with your current system.

This game is more CPU intensive than most other MMO’s. For you, your CPU is a huge bottleneck, well most of your system is, but for this game even more so. I would venture to say that what is happening (yes even in character creation) is that when the GPU passes off processing functions to the CPU, the CPU is pegging out at %100 and struggling to process. The GPU utilization will drop while it waits on the CPU. This would explain the momentary drops in FPS and is the number 1 cause of these type issues (especially with people barely meeting the minimum hardware requirements).

Download the above listed applications and run them before starting your game. Then when this happens, check them and see what is happening. I would be almost certain that when this FPS drop happens, your CPU will be pegged at %100.

Again, you computer barely meets the minimum requirements to play this game. Minimum requirements does not mean it will run good, just that it will run. I don’t know what else to tell you.

Maybe download CPUZ and GPUZ and run them while you play. See what is pegging out at %100 most likely your CPU but probably both CPU and GPU. Regardless, I wouldn’t expect it to run any better than it already is.

EDIT: I would also recommend turning off settings like shadows, etc. and setting things to low and see if it improves.

Right you did. My mistake. Looking at the specs your are running bare minimum specs for this game. I wouldn’t expect to get much better performance than you already are. Your only real options are to upgrade to a better computer.
