I always thought, similar to a lord, that a wall or gate hit points should increase based on the enemy zerg calculated to be near by.
A small team or roaming crew should not have to suffer anymore than they already have because of the karma train lovers and HoT introduction.
Have you considered joining a roaming guild to help you out? In present day wvw it does help to have a partner or two to carry you for a bit so you can learn the mechanics and have at least some time to analyze other classes learning how ridiculous some are currently with hot builds.

Fights are in the regular bls and eb roaming wise for me, Desert doesn’t offer anything but wxp capping and dailies. That’s all it is good for honestly.
I think for the most part I still have fun. Condi’s are ok to deal with, not so bad.
I do think a lot of classes have balance issues that I’d like to see use skill rather than an entire build carry them but that’s any mmo honestly.
I’m not the best roamer but when I do get a win or my party takes out another group, it is pretty sweet

Right. So no talk of future developments. What about priorities and values? How do you see WvW as a game mode and where would you want it to be? What are its best features and what do you feel needs improvement?
Is it all just “management” to you?
It’s also a very bad marketing strategy (for reference compare it with Blizzard’s daily communication and how much of an interest it creates on their forum and reddit), but I understand where they come from in the sense that they made the mistake of spoiling most of HoT before releasing it.
I think that a middle ground could be found, somewhere in the middle between,n “We’ve been working on scoring changes for the last 6 months. Ok? Bye.” and “Hello folks how is it going today?”
Obviously it takes much organization to communicate on an almost daily basis, but the balance changes would be a great place to start since they are so much needed.
That is a good point this guy/gal makes. In my experience in the wvw forums a dev appears outta nowhere starts red posting like crazy, then poof they are gone for months. It is a little strange the communication behavior and it is not streamlined.
Overall, they just need a dedicated wvw dev.

I also play games like Elite: Dangerous, where that 3d-ish sound is helpful (I turn it off for GW2, obviously). Anyhow, the quality has been really good over 1+ years. You should be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.

Ghost thief ignored in wvw and actually buffed it.
Ghost thief in pve killed a raid boss, naughty thief I smack you with my nerf bat.It’s difficult to feel like you have our interests at heart given that alot of the issues have been present from the beginning, the lag, the futility of walls as defence (meteor shower says hi), over stacked servers, servers who don’t fight but night cap, scoring, scoring, what does score grant you? etc etc.
Having said that…..I love the game and can see nothing coming close to what we have but would it kill you guys to check in on us more than once a month.
This is a good point, ghost thief was ruining the entire roaming scene and game mode for most. A lot of complaints on forums but a pve player solo’d a raid boss and instantly the build got nerfed.
I’m trying to be respectful but it is an example that the game mode is labeled as competitive, but you see this unfair game play go on for a very long time in wvw, but the second it affects pve we have action.
Hopefully this thread is a turning point for the devs to talk to us. I truly hope so.

Well, I think a lot of us want to communicate effectively and see some updates in wvw that benefit the community/game mode. Ultimate issue is us vets and launch guys/gals have seen the game mode decline and friends leave. That leads to frustration and then we mouth off the forums. I’d like to think everyone has good intentions but dispirited players are going to vent here.
However, I get what Gaile is saying to just chill out and the end of the world attitude needs to stop. Statistically, it’s an mmo. It’s going to age and based on history, you lose guilds and players over time with any game. You can’t expect anet to wave a wand and magically bring back people and fix a game mode where players have a heavy population affect on (guilds transferring left and right, roamers trying new servers, players moving on, etc).
We’ve seen some responses lately from McKenna and now Gaile is opening up a kittenances like these are rare so we shouldn’t act like those girls on the Total Diva’s show on E!
I was curious as well since I’ve been sitting at the LA loading screen for 5 minutes now and decided to check forums. Think something is definitely wrong.
I thought the tournaments were a great idea on paper but us vets saw what it did to the commanders and game mode back then.
Just not a good idea with the present state of the game.
Love being in the lower tiers. Fights are better. I laugh at the people who left TC, we haven’t had this many good fights in a long time.

idk, your much squishier and the power, precision,ferocity, and healing power are going to do all of jack kitten, but that has more to do with how power damage sucks ass atm with any class. Maybe, I have a set of full ascended celestial, I might try it out, tbh though I’ve also heard a lot of good players dismiss cele necro on several occasions, but hey why not. Any chance you could link me a build for cele stats? if not that’s fine, I’m sure it’s not rocket science.
I run mostly power necro with a mix of celestial trinkets. Works very well with death shroud, no reaper necessary. You’d be surprised by the little boosts you get form celestial that come in handy.
I honestly don’t know why players run dire necro, it’s quite boring and autopilot mode. New ghost thief if you ask me.
The 2 expansion… A legend writen in the stonemist walls, the dreams and hopes of every WvWers… they are expecting the chosen one, the one who will bring balance to the classes, and destroy the lord SIegeTHS. Until then… they will have tl wait…preserving the population.

Good post, especially the points made by Xenesis being I was a mid/low tier player myself.
HoT drove havoc and roaming groups into the ground, one of the most fun parts of wvw. Then came along the tower tracking system, further killing the art of roaming/havoc/ninja because an entire zerg needs to respond to a 3 man group apparently these days.
Meta doesn’t even make sense from a class standpoint, we have squishes running around in melee groups, melee playing back line, melee and squishes all hanging in one big ball of heat spamming crap all over the place: obsessive stuns, interrupts, pulls, glitter all over the place that the servers can’t even keep up with the combat numbers. I wish we could get back to the vanilla style like mentioned. It’s just too much over the top damage and things needed toned down. Make players use their brain again instead of mashing their keyboard.
Overall, we all need to stop living in the past unfortunately because it is not coming back and I don’t think Anet can really revert this game mode to former glory. I do think its noble of a lot of guilds and players still keeping a positive attitude because we honestly can’t afford to drive off more wvw players.

and of course want to get right back into the middle of SMC. Respawning at spawn/keep and there’s no skill lag/lag what so ever until you’re approximately at the outer walls of SMC.

If there’s a big fight in SMC it doesn’t matter where you are in the map, you’ll lag.

Positives
-Lot more small scale fights and roaming in my experience.
-Less condi roaming wise, you still see epi in large groups.
-Good mix of tags who care about ppt and fights, which is a nice change of pace.
-Easier on the lag for most part, you still get it but I haven’t gotten skill lag for quite some time.
-Community is tight because you see the same players daily.
-Salty whispers are extremely rare.
-Despite what clueless players say, there is a large amount of activity and fights. Roaming or gvg.
-“Run my build” fan boys do not exist.
-Lots early AM-9 am fights (Pac time)
-Evening is fun as well.
-Daytime is random but still fights and roaming groups
Negatives
-So called “Zerg busting” guilds do not last long in T4 from what I’ve seen, they usually get frustrated and move up for some reason in tiers wanting another guild to hold their hand or AJ for them.
-You can roam and be highly effective on the BLs ninjaing but based on the server, expect a wave of players to respond, you’ll be very alone at times.
-Scouting is desperately needed for tags to be successful. On the flip side, scouts are highly respected in T4.
-You’ll sometimes run into 3-4 roaming enemies who are insanely in sync and can frustrate your group of 10+.

Any effect that converts conditions/boons is completely random.
Skills will apply conditions in the order they read vertically down the skill.

I only ask because I noticed today that it seems like bleeds was last priority in removing the massive amount of bleed stacks that was put on me among the other 5 conditions that were already ticking away by necros specifically.

I’ve had it done to me and had fellow roamer partners do it.
I did it on a rare chance once with necro with spectral grasp since that move never works anyways and another time with my thief using scorpion wire. Seen my engi friend use the magnet pull as well and annihilated an evade thief, it was glorious to witness.
The best is when you can land it just right with someone defending a tower and using a pull, throws them really super high lol
It’s actually not the the tracker from an enemy tower. It’s from a tower your server just captured (the tower tracks allies instead of enemies). I noticed this bug after the patch and have sent an in-game bug report. Hope it’ll get fixed soon.

Is there any news on this being fixed? Seems the enemy tower tracker will not go away and you have to switch maps to get it off you. At spawn in the pic with the tower tracker icon on me from the NSA.
I hear YB roamers are mad this got nerfed.
I would like to know what new WvW content will be included in their next expansion . New WvW system? New WvW rewards? New WvW maps? New seasons?
Will anet tell us the reality is zero new WvW content in their next expansion?
I think given the previous reactions from the wvw community Anet walks on egg shells with us whenever they comment, release a statement, or share future plans.
In addition, the HoT expansion drove players away in wvw. I believe they know they have to get this next expansion spot on or the same result will happen with not only wvw, but other game modes.
So why would they share anything, it will just lead to negativity and criticism.
That may be one of the worst mesmers I’ve seen in my 4 years of playing. Couldn’t land wells, stack condis efficiently, terrible use of clones, and awful positioning.
And clearly doesn’t understand dueling rules based on the snowflake whiny whispers. Probably just a kid who’s mom let him stay up late and learned the F word that night or something.
He should probably leave the dueling area and go EOTM instead, his build would be best suited for that “level” of gameplay.
Warriors (especially adrenal health) needs the druid treatment. Nerf the kitten out of the base heal and make it scale decently with healing power. Also bring the range on arc divider down to at least 300, it’s ridiculous how easy it is for them to land it on random nearby npc’s to proc cleansing ire/adrenal health.
A big nerf to the base heal is the wrong fix. Adjusting the range of Arc Divider, along with reducing how many adrenal stacks a primal burst counts for is a much more precise solution to the problem.
Nerfing the base will kill most warrior builds, bringing it back to where the class was before the Adrenal Health buff (very little sustain). But doing those other two things would make Berserkers have to work harder to maintain the AH healing, nerf the melee threat range of Berserker greatsword, and keep the current non-OP builds viable.
As for double EP, all the blocks, etc., those can be handled through smart play, which includes staying out of melee range unless your build allows you to play in that space with blinds, chills, evades, etc. Cutting the range on AD to 300 (as you suggested) reduces the melee warrior threat range, and makes kiting classes in particular great for wearing them down.
I agree with this and he gets to the heart of the issue with berserker Vs core warrior where adrenal healing is completely fine.
Additionally I’d increase the cool down on headbutt, 20s for a stunbreak, 3s stun, full adrenaline and decent damage (seen it hit for 4k+) is far too good, make it 30s.
Nah they both need to be adjusted. With zero healing power a berserker is ticking for about 900hp a second just from adrenal health and healing signet, that’s a kitten ton of sustain without even considering things like regen that is pretty much permanent in any group or traits like “dead or alive” and “rousing resilience”. On top of that Berserkers are extremely mobile, have several very short cooldown stun breaks can build to be pretty much immune to conditions and can rotate blocks with immunities.
They game is in a really crappy place right now because builds don’t need to sacrifice anything anymore. Having to add a little healing power won’t break their builds, it just means they will have to make a choice if they want to continue to play it safe and have that ridiculous sustain or play a little riskier but continue to land those 10k+ hits.
Play core warrior and you realise it’s a berserker issue. Core warrior has trade offs to what it does, if it wants to build adrenaline as fast as a berserker it needs to take arms and will do a lot less damage. If they want quickness to hit burst skills faster they need heightened focus which means no adrenaline refund so harder to maintain AH.
That’s without mentioning core warrior skills are much better telegraphed and not absurdly over powered like berserker burst skills. Seriously go compare the primal bursts to regular bursts for all of them, the burst is way easier to land on everything but bow and/or does a lot more (daze, blind and 2x 4 condi stacks?!). When you couple this with a trait line that gives damage increases as minor, skills that build full adrenaline nearly, burst skills that only require a weapon swap to get enough adrenaline, high stability and reduced cool downs on burst.
Make no mistake it is 100% a problem with berserker trait line, go duel a baseline warrior and you’ll barely notice the adrenal healing.
I don’t disagree but unfortunately we can’t just balance around the base professions. Hot is without a doubt the worst thing that happened to this game and berserker is a prime example of why. The specializations were supposed to open up new build options but in almost every case they are so much stronger that they are mandatory.
Berserker didn’t even offer something new and interesting, it’s basically just the same play style except everything hits way kittening harder, is easier to land, and has shorter cooldowns. The problem is there’s no real way to adjust that without just nerfing the kitten out of it and if they do that you are basically just left with the core warrior again.
Agreed, HoT broke this game IMO. Expansions are suppose to bring people to the game not drive them away. What is scary…they are basically ignoring gw2 and diving right into another expansion. It’s starting to look like they are just another game studio that goes the cash cow route.
I’ve been playing since launch in wvw and it’s pretty sad to see the guilds/legend roamers come and go in addition to what coulda been in this game mode.
There definitely was something there, anet just didn’t capitalize on it and really missed an awesome opportunity.
Well, as soon as we see a ANET tag on an enemy objective it becomes target number one.
I still think the ANET devs spend way too much time on the winning servers, but hey, they said there is no favoritism. The truth probably is that they have friends on those servers. I would like to see them on the losing end servers more often to see the other side of the coin and how the server population imbalance effects us. Not to mention the match-ups where #10 is up against #2 and #4 who both have 2 servers attached to them. Thus, 6 servers versus 2.
For what is is worth there seems to be one on CD. I’ve seen our hills and a few camps randomly claimed by anet in the name of CD. Though I’m unsure if it was the linked servers at the time.
So at least there’s someone potentially on CD experiencing the beat down week after week.
The way I see it, I get all the roaming fights I want though 75% of them the little scared thief runs away or the enemy blob shows up to ruin it.
Ya anet acomplished their goal of making us not care about servers with the server linking. It probably had other side effects, since not having server pride makes WvW a bit pointless.
Also kitten off with the trump memes. This is our safe place.
If that was anets great plan that’s a whole another level of pathetic. The cost of the player base and loss of accounts was at risk.

When I started to play wvw I came across this vid. Watch it all and reflect.
That guy will go down as the greatest mmo player in history as far as I am concerned. If only we had more Ajax Blue’s in this world, no fear charging into the heat of battle.
The score is only a symptom and not the actual problem. Tweaking the score doesn’t change population balance or coverage issues. All it does is mask the problem.
Server linking was a band aid to that underlying condition. It sort of worked in that it creates some better matches and fixes the stale issue. Unfortunately they left Glicko and the RNG in the mix so matches still become lopsided.
One thing I’ve learned working in the public sector is the art of illusion is very strong with management to blind the sheep lol
World Linking has resulted in a lot of players having no interest in the score…
The score has never been of interest other than to those who can’t see the bleeding obvious, really as a competition WvW and the score has always been a complete joke because it was basically down to population/coverage
It’s been like that since the ferocity change. Before that it was possible to beat outnumbered zergs (blobs not so much) – I know, because back then I was on IoJ and we were almost always outnumbered and we almost always fought zergs twice our size. It was fun times and I wish they came back. But then condi became overwhelming, then the stab changes killed a good part of it and then June 23th 2015 stroke and then HoT.
Once upon a time ranking really did matter and skill did matter – nowadays it’s just cheese and nothing is of any importance anymore. I don’t think that any of it will be reverted, so we’re just going to watch wvw going down and then the whole game will be shelved and that was it. Maybe some day somewhere someone will adopt GW2’s combat and the idea of wvw and will actually put the efforts in to balance things.
I think you are right about the whole game headed down hill, just feels, stagnant for some quite time now and the pve, I don’t know I just don’t see it. It doesn’t feel that immersive to me primarily due to repetitive maps or the community isn’t there anymore. It’s literally just a bunch of free accounts running around.
