BG had a roaming guild of 50 hit our mendons today. Never seen such synergy and blast fields executed!

The true answer is people complained.

People complained that the only viable build is berserker.

The fastest and only viable way to kill the harpies/boar/centaur/guards was berserker. There were no build diversity and stack -> LoS -> spam attack is all you need in WvW.

It was such dark times when there were no build diversity in WvW.

So they buffed condi and fixed WvW

Berserker was a little much back then. However, that’s anets problem and needs to provide a service and updates for a product their customers bought and still support. It seems they just don’t care anymore and forgot that we all purchased the game, xpac, and bought gems at times.

I guess we don’t have to care as well so let their quarterly reports continue to decline and do not buy the next xpac. Keep up the esports and raid dream, it’s really making a huge profit -_-

I certainly have noticed the lack of numbers as of late, be that because of the current state of WvW or certain guilds falling apart, who knows, I just know some real attention needs to be shown towards people who prefer WvW over anything else, or the last nail will be driven into the WvW coffin, and you’ll see no one out there.

I’m a bit more surprised that every server but BG is open in NA currently. I rarely look at the wiki site, but it looks like people are moving on. Then again summer is here and the game mode is yawn. Stack all the other annoying features equals dead mode

I had to laugh when I saw a player with a name “boring wars” today. Video sums up hot, the builds are given sustain, evades, invulns, healing, etc. etc. etc.

Not a very healthy competitive game mode anymore. Majority if not all HoT classes are just tedious and boring to fight.

Why can’t we just separate pve and wvw builds, skills, availability to runes/sigils and just GET A DEV TO HELP US.

Personally, I think this next expansion will be my make or break for the game. If they make a sincere effort to revitalize WvW that would be great, but if they dont, it might be time to make a change. I am cautiously optimistic!

Given HoT, not interested or trusting in anets xpacs anymore. I think you are spot on, it’s a do or die for them. I just can’t see players putting up with another over the top particle light show with insane class imbalance after giving them money for yet another xpac pve/raid focused while wvw is left to rot.

Been roaming this week against BG……I’d say 90% of the encounters are condi. From my understanding and experience, they greatly advocate for condi only builds.

It’s definitely up there. Lots of condi reapers and mesmers (very few power), and then a mix of condi or power daredevils, berserkers, etc. Haven’t seen any condi scrappers or dragon hunters yet.

There’s a higher number of daredevils (maybe 70% power) and condi mesmers running around compared to most servers, and almost always at least one condi reaper in every fights.

Not sure if you’ve found this, but I usually find a lot of people showing up from all directions within 1 min of finding a fight. No doubt due to a map call out (even for a 1v1), but at least it helps identify what must people are running.

Same for most part, my feeling is that they may be bored looking for fights. Usually a 1v1 turns into a 1v3-5 and condition city happens. Barely can c-cleanse a condi mesmer enough, let alone multiple players.

WvW does seem a bit more quieter lately. Could be the matchup I’m currently in that isn’t very fun at all, but seems a bit lower on the numbers.

I’m fighting Blackgate this week and ran into three separate condi thieves yesterday while roaming in what was largely a deserted bl. In fact, BG is the most condi heavy server I’ve come across in a long time.

That said, I’d be surprised if condi thieves were even half of the total number of thieves on any server. They’re more common than they were a year ago, but power is much more common from what I’ve seen.

I find it alarming that rumors of classes getting access to new weapons when they still need to work on HoT introductions.

On the flip side, it’s just a leak, rumor, etc. Could be they are not sharing anything currently and figuring out the best plan of action for information to get out.

However, a common tactic that managerial training manuals (Examples: crucial conversations, fierce conversations) provide is allowing leaks or rumors to start. This leads to seeing how the general staff or public will react to the possible change.

This is most likely what anet does, lets a leak come out and observes how their customers react. Very easy to see their style as it is a cliche method but effective.

Yeah I mean whats the harm in having a poll? If the majority don’t want it, they just vote no and it doesn’t get put in. If yes gets voted, well then you know that the majority feels the same way I do and wants to bring back skilled gameplay to WvW.

Fighting outnumbered is the wvw way today, skill should matter instead of the downed state crutch. Some classes are ressing at insane rate also, it’s just a weird mechanic that doesn’t seem balanced right at times.

You would think, where WvW is large scale PvP they would have more focus on WvW than they do PvP.

Players been saying that for 4 long years now.

What anet has done, like many before them, is forget that the community determines if a game mode will have a competitive aspect. So desperate for the pvp sports dream, they offered ascended gear to spark players interest.

Anet has to accept that people love wvw and ONLY play wvw. Dangle all the little carrots in the pvp or pve mode, we just don’t care. We love wvw, we love roaming, we love raiding with our friends even with a broken game mode full of 50000000 conditions a second on us.

Ascended vendor you say? To reward you for all your dedication to wvw over the years and your wxp points, badges, rank? HA think again minion! lol

What we really need is that ghost thief guy that solo’d the raid super champ thing to use the broken builds out there in wvw, and solo a raid boss on each class. I say we fully fund this player and offer him gold to do so. Hell, start a go fund me page for this guy.

I’ve seen every class command and do it well based on the individual. I think what sometimes happens is the shaky ones have the mentality “guard guard guard” and just can’t get comfortable playing it.

I’d say in this state of the game, whatever you feel comfortable with and keeps you alive, that’s the important thing when driving.

I think everyone (including Anet) knows all about the issues of glicko, server balance, transfers and coverage. They’ve been discussed ad infinitum in the past. Forum jockeys have suggested every combination of changes to address the issues but nothing from Anet (other than the one time they said “changes are coming to address scoring”)

I’d wager in T2, or whenever green is dominating, that the action is on blue borderland because there is less desire to play on either red or green. That’s why I suggested on a previous thread that WvW go to only two maps, one for the highest ranked server to defend (like GW1 Fort Aspenwood) and the other an equal fight for all (like GW1 Jade Quarry).

But the metrics would show which servers when red defend DBL and if they attack DBL when not red.

Let’s take a look at all of the other tiers real quick. A dominating server will be italicized and the losing server will be bolded.

Note that the total number of kills per tier is fairly constant. This would suggest that either there is similar population on every world not currently in T1 or that kill count is not a good measure of population or activity.

But to your point, the dominating server’s BL does have lower kills in tiers 2 and 3, but not in tier 4. Meanwhile, the losing server’s BL has higher kills in tiers 2 and 4, but not in 3. If we consider both factors and also that some players will always avoid Red BL, the data makes more sense.

However, while we know that some players avoid Red BL since they state it publicly, we must also consider that there may be more at play. Given the stark differences between the two maps and the playstyles they engender, the already shaky metric of killcount-as-activity may not correlate to each map the same way.

**I have excluded tier 1 from this brief analysis as the data is tainted by an intentional and unrelated effort to manipulate the score on a large-scale. That being one server deciding to tank.

JQ and a particular commander during SEA and EU prefers to fight doors on empty BLs all day. Completely crushing the other side with little/no resistance is no fun and neither is not being able to do anything vs overwhelming odds. I’m assuming you read only the title.

In the 2 weeks hod fought mag I was playing solo on mags side of ebg while mag was spawn camping the “we can’t do anything” hod players. Talking capping towers/camps/sentries and then defending them for some good clean messy fun.

I really hope they would just remove this map for once and all. I have total of barely 30min of play time on DBL. I don’t appreciate the map and never will. Anet said they worked hard on it but DBL just looks like a map that even failed to be a PvE map.

I as well remember a statement if we didn’t accept this map we are stuck with alpine maps only because I remember everyone voicing their opinion in this very forum on how that was kinda lame.

What I’d like to see the anet devs do is move forward instead of bickering here with the players.

That’s good to hear on esports. I mean we all predicted it and knew it wouldn’t pan out. I’m hoping you are correct on the wvw situation, there’s still some decent guilds out there but the roaming scene is on life support with these balance issues.

WvW just offers so much more than pvp in my opinion along with unknown encounters around every corner.

ohh how i know that. i tried using power reaper in NA, cant be done. the mentality of players is much diferent.

I myself play power reaper in NA, it is a struggle most of the time but find it gets better in the lower tiers luckily.

I sometimes wonder if it is a generational thing…..the easy way but who knows and cares. Just fight me and if I lose whatever.
