That is the thing, the videocard won’t help u here cuz the processor is not being utilized by the game engine effciently, which means it cannot feed the GPU properlly, which causes low frames overall. I would recomend to overclock that 1090t to 4ghz it should be pretty easy, there are many guides online about how to do this, Then disable reflections completelly, and shadows at medium/disabled in WvW, since those 2 options are very CPU demanding and will drastically hit ur FPS. Doing this 2 things u will get very good frames most of the time and be able to enjoy the game.

No, u won’t 4290 is a integrated chip, it is below game system requirements so u would be lucky, to run the game at any playable frames at the lowest settings. In the other hand u can buy a pretty decent videocard this days for 100$ that will allow u to play the game at 30+ FPS at high settings, u can get a Hd 7750 or a GTX 650, those would play the game just fine. Ur processor in the other hand, i believe u will get beter performance overclocking the dual core than unlocking it to a quad core, this is because GW2 basically do not utilize the CPU cores efficiently, so overclocking the dual core tp 4ghz will give u better performance than 4 cores at 3.0ghz.

I had 1 vs 1 engi, rangers necro and they own, i think WvW performance cannot be measured by 1 vs 1 capabilities tho. Even when this classes have very viable and strong duel builds, they lack of group sinergy a bit and that i think is the main problem. For example a warrior or a thief are terrific for burst damage, a ele or a guardian are awesome for tanking and party support, mesmer is just, a must have cuz of the portals and so many good control/AOE damage skills. The other classes are just in between, some can deal good damage but not as good as warrior/thief, some can support but not as efective as ele/guardian. I think that’s it.
I do think 1 v 1 the classes are pretty good balanced tho, may be the warrior would be the weakest in 1 vs 1 sutiations cuz of it lack of Condition control skills but warrior can compesate that by dealing incredible damage in groups.

I have seen a bulldozer allready running GW2 at 4ghz and it was as fast as my i7 2600k, may be a bit slower in WvW but in towns and PVE was about the same i couldn’t be able to notice the difference if i didn’t knew which processor was inside. So i guarantee it is not a CPU performance issue

Yeah but mostly on medium/low end cards, on the fastest card Nvidia has to offer those setting ON or OFF are the same, the GTX680 is just Overkill for GW2, any kind of setting u run in, it will be about the same performace since the CPU will allways bottleneck it.

GW2 is the kind of game u come home tired from work and u can log in a do whatever da hell u want, u can PVE, PVP, WvW u can just jump in and have fun, that is why most of us love this game, there are no riad schedules or gear progression u have to do cuz otherwise nobody will want u on their groups, u don’t have to be on a guild and do guild events like it was a 2nd job. Hell no GW2 is casual and we love it this way, we log in and just have fun doing whaever da hell we want. We don’t feel tied to it, we can just stop playing for 3, 4 days and come back and eveything is the same u can just jump in into the fun. I think that is the target audience GW2 is aiming at, ppl who don’t want to feel a game is a 2nd job, ppl who just want to log and have fun to forget about real life problems just for a few hours.
It is not meant to be epic, just enjoyable, the combat feels great, the graphics are amazing it a beatifull looking game. Notice every single WoW clone has died fast, cuz ppl who likes that kind of game will just go back to WoW in the end. In the other hand a games like GW1 or Lineage 2 lived for over 9 years allready and coexisted with WoW from the very beggining, and the only reasson for that is cuz ppl who likes those game dislikes WoW and,¡ they loved those games cuz offered a different experience.
So even while i understand everything u said, i think u are very right to feel that way, but this game, may be, is just not for u cuz some of us actually love this game the way it is. I’m sure they will include more WoW like content in the future to try atract some players like u, but in the end, the game will allways be what it is.

Yeah i am experiencing very low FPS at huge zergs aswell, it is still good arround the PVE world and cities tho, so i think they only changed something in WvW (may be to make us think they made a huge improvment with the upcoming “culling solution”)

That is indeed extremly low for ur processor and GPU, try downloading HWinfo64 and monitor us system behavior while running the game. If u want some help run both programs on widowed mode, stay standing at the mist for 5 mins, then screen capture the hwinfo readins so we can see if we find something wrong with voltage, temperatures, clock speeds, etc.

++++++++++++++++1 for this, sPVP need some love, some longer game modes, all domination is just very boring. I think some kind of mode with obejectives like League of legends, would be awesome since 2 teams with skilled players could have epic, long fights, i think this game is screaming for something like this also u could probably get a bunch of new players comming from LOL, Dota, ppl who likes competitive team PVP and wanna try something a little different cuz the 3rd person style of GW2 comes with stuff like dogding, jumping, real time evading, that kind of fighting action, those games cannot offer.
Also would be great for hot join modes a team deathmatch type of game, so much more fun since trying to accomplish (capture/defend) objectives with a bunch of randoms is not the ideal of fun.

U can help this problem lowering Shadows and disabling reflections, untill arenanet actually fix the problem.

May be try reinstalling the whole game? or try installing a brand new copy of windows in dualboot mode so u can discard any kind of sofware problem. download he game again and try run it on a clean windows copy.

I don’t really think ele is OP, the problem is they have twice more skills than any other class which makes em very versatile, that is the main proble, they can tank, they can escape as faster than anyone else from getting killed (may be only thief can compare in this aspect), if u take them down they can insta go air form and run back where they friends are or inside a tower and get back to battle. They don’t really have strong atack, they don’t really have strong defense, they don’t have the best team support, the problem is having all this posibilities as the same time on their arsenal.
For example a guardian can tank, can support but he cannot run away, if u overun him, take him down he is dead, also they don’t really have strong atack, they have to chose between atack or support/tank.
A warrior can del temenous ammounts of damage more than any other but in order to do that they have to go full glass canon, they have no CC control, no good heals, no good survivavility 2 vs 1 they just can’t do much, glass warrior will just die.
A thief can scape from any kind of situation using stealth, they deal tons of damge aswell, but they have no HP, no armor. Vs a target they cannot 1 shoot they will have to run away or die.
Same with every other class/builds they can do everything better than ele, but at the cost of sacrifice other things, so the problem with ele is the whole class machanic, makes them just good enough at everything, which some ppl would find OP. In my personal opinion Arenanet need to tweek elemetalist biulds a bit making them hit hard sacrificing defense/suvivavility, or harder to kill, sacrificing damage, they just can’t do everything at the same time cuz no other class can.

Looks pretty good, great deal on the hs 7970 btw, those 3 are awesome games and will do much better use of that videocard than GW2. Thumbs up for that build!

You don’t need to hardcore farm fractals for ascended items. I run fractals only once a day and that’s it. It’s too repetitive. I have 5 rings as of now and only 1 is bought using the pristine relic which I saved for 10 days as I left my fotm at level 13.

No dude u don’t understand, i just don’t want to do fractals, most of my guild thinks like i do aswell, we just want to Kill ppl and that’s it, we don’t want dungeons, or killing dragons, none of that we just want to PVP, and heck we don’t wanna have gear disadvantages to those PVErs… hell no. At least 50% of my frinds quit the game since they invented the fractal dungeons, it killed the WvW population, now i seriouslly thinking about quiting aswell since i see more Ascended gear is coming by some dailies or some crap i don’t give a kitten, i just want to be able to buy em with money or badges, that’s it.

Still i do not agree with this gear not being able to be bought, it Anet want to keep it out WvW make all the ascended crap not usable in WvW. For example in Rift which i played for a few months, PVP gear was only avaliable for those who actually PVP, PVErs raid gear and T6,7,8,9 gear was useless compared to PVP gear inside the Battlegrounds enviroment, i think that is a much more wise aproach to the issue.

If u want PVE and farm u do that, if u work, have real money u pay for stuff, since probably u dont’ have time to farm, what is wrong with that? i buy gems to trade for gold and buy food, and exotics at the TP. since WvW gold rewards are awfull, i am not complainig about that tho, it is ok, is the way it is supposed to work, i am just asking to do the same with Ascended gear.

No pay to win would be geeting overpowered gear only avaliable by paying… Ascended gear is avaliable for whoever willing to farm it, which much players, specially PVP players dislike. I agree Legendary weapons or stuff like that are rewards for dedicated players who spent lots of time to craft em, those u shouldn’t be able to buy. What i don’t agree with is farming PVE dungeons to get gear that actually gives playes the edge in WvW.

Ok so, i hate PVE, i never ran a fractal, but i want my ascended gear for WvW it would be nice for casual players like me who works and have limited time to play, to have access to top of the line gear by buying gems using real money i would pay up to 300$ for them if necesary, i think many other playes who don’t really have time to farm the fractals or don’t even like that hadcore farming concept would do the same.
I think it is ok to give WoW kids something to farm but i don’t think is right to force the non Wow players to do it aswell. I just wanna do WvW, so make the ascended gear buyable by badges or real money, u are ruining the game… If we want to play WoW we would just do it, think about that.

Not for Gw2… if u plan to buy crysis3, in the other hand, (which i don´t) SLI will be usefull. Btw the 670 is a fast as the 680 :P only noob would buy a 680 anyway (or a rich guy ofc)

Even while upgrading from Nvidia to Nvidia u must sweep the old drivers completelly, try using Driver sweeper to clean up ur machine from any Nvidia drivers, then perform fresh install. U can download driver sweeper from here:

it would be very nice, it could add some action to PVE, atm i don’t even PVE anymore, everytime someone says “dungeon” i fall asleep, they are very monotonous (same as WoW and any other MMO) ppl can just do them eyes closed since they are too mechanical and repetitive. Adding some unpredictible factor to dungeons could help players bored doing same thing over and over. Same mobs, same bosses, everyone knows what is comming next when to switch weapons skills, stuff like that, ppl just do dungeons to farm grear/gold :S

Yeah since they invented the kitten fractal dungeon mechanic i havn’t been able to complete a single monthly+i see more and more ppl wasting time farming stupid rings instead fighting in WvW… stop interconecting the game pls. Create a WvW dedicated gear farmeable by badges so PVPers don’t have to waste out time doing useless and endless PVE farm to get specific gear.

I hate fractals and i have to farm en to get the monthly achievement aswell. I think they should just not merge PVE and PVP at all, there should be a dedicated WvW daily/monthly a PVE daily/monthly and a sPVP daily/monthly period. This way ppl like me who hates PVE would have chance to get monthly rewards, and PPL who dislikes WvW aswell.

Ok, download hwinfo64, run it along with the game on windowed mode, then post a screenshot like this where i can see all the thermal and load readings while running the game (i cannot run the game now cuz i am at work on my laptop lol)

Did u perform a complete driver sweep after installing the new card?

Yup i don’t think single thread performace will be a lot better than ivy may be 5%, but they will be more power efficient and overclock higher which could probably makes em the best choice for GW2, fingers crossed for 5.5ghz on air

Did u deleted all AMD drivers before installing Nvidia? u must use a program called driver sweeper http://www.guru3d.com/content_page/guru3d_driver_sweeper.html u can download it there. First of all try delete every single video driver both Nvidia and AMD, then after system restart intsall Fresh Nvidia drivers.

It could be a driver issue (most likelly), lack of electrical power, or in a very rare case a faulty video card. What videocard did u have before?

Indeed that athlonx2 is way too slow for WvW gaming, upgrade it to a cheap phemonIIx4 (ur motherboard should support it check it on the user’s manual tho)and wait for intel new processors, they should be out before Q2 2013, to make a full upgrade.

Go power options in control panel and select the high performance profile. Go to BIOS and disable Asus EPU power optimations along with any other power saving options.

Pretty amazing indeed, they have improved this kind of software at the point u don’t even need multiple graphics cards anymore.

No CPU up to date can handdle max settings, reflections and shadows will kill FPS on any CPU/GPU config. My advice would be keep ur system, turn graphical settings a bit down specially shadows/reflections and rendering to native. This is a very bad time of the year to upgrade, specially if u allready have a decent system, u will be better waiting for the next hardware generation, since it will be out very soon.

Actually as suspected the PCI is not working properlly, it says 2.0 x16 @ x16 1.1 that means, the PCI port is running as a PCI-e 1.1 instead a PCI-e 2.0 this significantly reduces the interface bandwith and is the reasson u have low FPS.
Open the case, remove the videocard, clean the port from dust(use some kind of air blower), install the videocard back again, check all the cables are properlly plugged in.
GPUz should say PCI-e 2.0 x16@x16 2.0. untill u don’t get that reading there is something wrong and GW2 FPS will be very low.
Btw what kind of power supply do u have? brand/model?

Download GPUz check the PCI-e is running at x16, this is the most common issue.

Try disable reflections and turn shadows a little down at the graphics options menu.

And u guys are also wrong about minimum requiremts, minimum specs guarantee a minimal accpetable gameplay at the lowest settings AKA 15-30 FPS during PVE. Otherwise u could suit the developers for false advertising.

I disagree with everyone, u are getting way too low FPS for ur system the hd4800 was top of the line 4 years ago, which makes em at least as fast as a GTX 260, they can run the game on mid/high settings at 60+FPS. The CPU is a slow but is a quad, it should run the game at least at 30/40 FPS on most PVE scenarios. My recomendation is to check everything is running fine, temps stuff like that. I would start by opening the case, unplug the video card, memory and every other thing atached to a PCI slot and clean everything using air, clean the videocard and all the fans inside.
P.D: My Gf has the same processor and a GTX 8800 and she even plays WvW, not desireable frames but playable, most of the time over 30 FPS

Try cleaning the PCI slot and the videocard gold connector using air, a compresed air can, a hair dryer or a vacumcleaner on blowout mode (if u do this, remove the dust deposit bag)

I said THERE IS NO NEED FOR SLI/CROSSFIRE compatibility, If u have a powerfull enough processor with a bunch of cores (i7 SB-e 6 cores or AMD 8cores) and 8gb+ ram and 2 videocards (1 for each monitor) it is possible, theorically. Even while GW2 is unoptimized it does not push hard on all ur CPU cores it only need 3 intel cores or 4 AMD to achieve maximum performance.

U could but u don’t really want to play WvW with all the settings maxed cuz the game engine is just bad and some options like reflections and shadows would make a big WvW battle look like a powerpoint presentation.

U should try check if ur videocard is installed in the right slot PCIe 2.0 x16, as dumb as it soulds many ppl instal the graphics card on the wrong slots, if is actually installed on the right one check if the bus speed is the apropiate using GPUz utility. And don’t think “all my games runs fine only GW2 have issues that can’t be it”, cuz is wrong GW2 consumes bandwith like no other game, so most games would run perfectly at x2 or x4 bus speed but not GW2.

I dont really knot the name of the software atm, but i have seen it live in cibercafes and stuff like that, i was courious and asked the manager how it worked and he explained me he needed a multicore CPU, 2 videocards, 2 hardrives obviously and a sofware to manage the hardware resources (split the ram and CPU cores), something like this:

If u have 2 videocards (1 for each monitor no need for clorssire/SLI compatibility) and a powerfull enough CPU or a dual CPU mobo is possible

Most likelly is the mechanical hardrive (just reading at the problem), u should check if the screws are correctly installed inside the case and stuff like that. The sound is probably produced by vibrations caused by the hardrive when spinning faster (when the game is loading for example)

Supersampling is a game option, it renders the game at higher resolututions than ur monitor supports, this will make the game textures look a little crisp at a huge performance drop cost (this option is for ppl with really high end Destop videocards tbh). And yeah the game is CPU demanding but ur CPU is pretty decent allready, i don’t think u have any issus playing this game, may be a little low FPS at WvW massive fights or PVE events with tons of ppl, but nothing really unplayable.
Notice i have played this game on a GTX550ti (which is a little slower than the GTX670mx) at high setting just fine.

Just a reference, feel free to customize this guide as much as ur budget allows it. I wouldn’t recoment to cheap out on the CPU/mobo/GPU tho, as for anything else feel free to to change it according to ur needs. Add a CPU cooler for 30 bucks CM 212EVO if u want, it will reduce ur CPU heat a lot (GW2 is a highlly CPU dependant game so overclocking helps more than any other game out there) otherwise u should be fine with the stock cooler at 4ghz.
