Best map yet – really good fun to explore, really unique and in places gorgeous (I love the boiling waves when you first enter and the way the terrain changes from alien to sweeping rock structures). The mastery works well for the map, but feels like a one shot thing rather than something to develop on, which seems wasteful.

Story has plenty of intrigue, but suffers from having a reveal just because it generates speculation, not because it makes sense. The identity of Lazarus could have been handled in many other ways (see lore/LW forums) – this just felt like shock for the sake of shock. The advancement of the story however lends itself to a lot of exciting opportunities, but continuity needs to hold together a lot better.

New currency – depositable. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Final instance was fantastic. I loved the mechanics, but I loved the setting and seeing who we saw looming large for the first time was breathtaking. Targeting reticles need more clarity in a fight with such chaos though, especially as some of the instructions on the UI and Taimi’s dialogue conflicted. Ending was abrupt though and didn’t set up the next episode, which is odd for a penultimate.

Overall, not as tightly plotted as Ep4 and went for shock factor over the right way to tell this story, but the blockbuster fight and the exceptional map kept it on track.

Loved it

I’m waiting to see them answer the question about 2nd generation legendary weapons requiring second expansion purchase to complete.

They answered it. The weapons would be released with each episode beyond s3 at no additional cost.

“Our plan is to keep releasing legendary weapons alongside episodes, with the weapons not requiring the new expansion.

Makes you wonder if any orher Gods are disguised as well. Someone suggested the Queen or Anise as Lyssa, which whilst prob full of loopholes, at least the idea has interesting spevulation around it if there is any presumption the other Gods may have diminished.

What I saw was someone suggest that with an “and” not an “or” which is potentially awesome.

Interesting point. My post came from a a casual discussion with a guildie, but that thought never croped up, although I’m still more in favour of Anise being Livia rather than linked to Jennah directly.

140g is a perfectly fine base to start a legendary from. Believe you me, I’ve started from far, far less with most of mine.

Out of curiosity, you say you are only 130 mastery so are a long way behind. Rather, do you mean you haven’t unlocked the full legendary crafting mastery? Realistically that’s all you need afaik.

Well, we already knew primordus had moved and risen in the ring of fire, so there would be nothing new to tell us. Plus its likely most of the dwarves are wiped out, with whatever remants certainly not containing a fully powered up elder dragon to a single area.
Not sure what info Ogden would have for us really since he is not with his race anymore.

Nope she mainly acts totally as her character normally does, then freaks out when confronted by a God she (like many Humans) have worshipped all her life. Shock from seeing her God plus shock from seeing it act differently to how she has always believed clearly sent her over the edge a bit.

Any other reaction would have been poor writing, but I thought they caught this (reasonably) well.

It’s difficult to know since it is stated they have returned to “pre-awakened energy levels” That would suggest asleep.

Would Taimi have that information, as it was years ago, before she was born? She started tracking dragon energy levels using the map found near Tarir, so it seems to me more likely she is comparing to their energy levels before they became active at the start of LS3, because that’s the only data she has to compare with.

Then that’s what the tech should have stated – “before recent rising”. Plus we collect Primordus and Jormag energy in the instance as part of an achievement, so we know they lose energy. I’m inclined to trust the tech she’s developed from Rata Novan research as accurate, otherwise it’s just poor writing.

Are you telling me that you don’t think the human gods could have found a way to trick Caedecus at any point?

Not at all, but we would be getting even further into unneccesary convoluted and contrived territory. Why would he trick Caudecus into making him substitute an artefact containing himself so he could pose as a mursaat. Why not just…pose as a mursaat?

like.. all the way down the volcano, back to the submarine, back to rata sum.. steps back..

Did we just put the strongest, most violent, and most destructive dragon back to sleep?
We just ended it’s cycle..

what?

I mean, I get the story didn’t want us to kill it.. but all the hype from GW1, all the hype from GW2, and the first time we see the elder dragon is when he goes back to sleep?
And we don’t even get to see Jormag, just Taimi saying “And Jormag propably as well”

..

what?

I don’t think they’ve gone back to sleep, as in for thousands of years between dragon rises, bit back to their less active state, as in for a few years between periods of major activity. They’re still awake and still a threat, like they were prior to the start of LS3.

It’s difficult to know since it is stated they have returned to “pre-awakened energy levels” That would suggest asleep.

I loved all of it, although the “reveal” was contrived and seemed to ignore lots of its own set up, the potential in story is excellent moving forward. They just need to get better with continuity.

The map is excellent, one of my favourites. As for the final fight, it’s mechanically excellent again in probably the best backdrop of any story boss fight in GW2. My main complaint was that there was so much was going on, I had trouble seeing my target reticle and it wasn’t entirely well explained. The difficulty felt well tuned mechanically though.

You can make gold by running fractals or simply selling everything you don’t need for your legendary.

Work out which one you want and make each bit one step at a time to make it a more manageable goal. For many players, this a long term goal and usually requires spending time working away at it specifically.

T6 mats are best coming from spending laurels on heavy crafting bags and doing events in the relevant maps for rewards. You also end up with a load when you start making the clovers (when you read up on wiki that will make more sense)

Ectos come from salvaging rares and exotics. Rares are pretty easy to come by if you keep at meta events.

Wood and metals come from just playing maps

Mystic coins come from login rewards and the anomaly event every 2 hours

Really though, just plan what you are doing, take each bit one step at a time and be prepared for a few months graft to get one. Because of the work involved, I wouldn’t get one just because others have them though. I have 7 and they don’t illuminate me as a great or masterful player. They were just long term projects I worked for to complete a look for each of my toons.

Lazarus: “You just won’t believe me, will you? You just won’t take my word for it that I am who I say I am, just because I’m not all ‘Grrr, I’m evil!’ Well, fine! If that’s what it takes, then that’s what you’ll get!”

— 20 minute cutscene where he slaughters hundreds of innocents —

Kas: “No, it can’t be! It’s really him!”

Lazarus: “FINALLY! It’s about <bleep>ing time! Now, can we cut the <bleep> and get on with killing some <bleep>ing dragons?”

There is no reason for a God who has left the World to disguise themselves as a mursaat. Remember, as far as we can tell, “lAzarus” is 4/5 Lazarus and 1/5 something from whatever artefact Caudecus substituted in the final pieces place. That is likely to rule out just a person in disguise if the final part of the last episode is any reliable guide.

I don’t think Lazarus is simply a disguise. Depending on what really happened during the resurrection ceremony, Lazarus might physically have the body of a mursaat and the mind of someone else.

That I would agree with

Gleam (Glint’s first surviving egg) would definitely benefit from absorbing the magic of the bloodstone, and would have a reason to protect Aurene … if she’s not evil. If she is, Aurene would be competition and first on Gleam’s dinner plate. In either case, a dragon champion has no reason to pose as Mursaat or need the support of the White Mantle, so it doesn’t fit.

Gleam is almost certainly dead already. I mean do you think the Master of Peace would go to all the effort in getting one of Glint’s eggs if the first scion of Glint was still alive?

It is believed Gleam was the one who gave the egg to the Master based on the way is was handed down from above him and Kasmeers reaction to that entity. Speculation ofc

Any plans for GW2 on consoles?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

Oh well, I am considering purchasing another gaming PC in the near future, so there is still hope for me

You can run GW2 on a 7-8 year old PC, judging by minimal system requirements. It is a 5 year old game. Nowardays almost anyone with a console has a PC for work/study/internet. And that PC most likely can run GW2, if it is a machine from this decade. That is why I am confused with this thread.

True, but consoles are still very much the go to place for gaming (as an anecdote, I am the only one of my friends who uses a PC for gaming – everyone else uses console, simply because their lower spec PC’s wouldn’t do justice to any games.). There is clearly a market – the emergence of so many MMO’s (FF14, TESO, Star Trek, Neverwinter to name a few) shows there is an appetite for them there even if it is a secondary format for MMO’s. So it’s def a valid question to ask whether a console release is due.

I think the earlier technical specs pretty much shuts the possibility down anyway, but there are other challenges which block it for GW2 and I think the way console versions and PC versions are often separate is key. If they can’t work together, that puts a strain on WvW and ensuring a high enough population for metas. If they do work together, then it looks bad when the sharp influx of new players run into a brick wall with the current full servers.

That’s true for Rox and Canach too, but they still left the PC leaving them immediately isolated, just as Marjory, Rytlock, and Braham did (with or without their consent).

It really feels to me like they’re trying to isolate the PC in the story, perhaps to build up for something. If I had to guess, I’d say that something was related to Aurene and her growing into an Elder Dragon (we’ve already exhibited some signs that imply corruption – Aurene granting us magic in Prized Possessions, the PC immediately knowing Aurene’s name, and the PC’s comment of “I’m at Aurene’s disposal.” during Precocious Aurene seem to me like subtle beginnings of corruption, like early stages of Reaper indoctrination).

A sound theory, but to me it feels more like a rite of passage to bring the Guild together by isolating the PC first and having his big challenge in uniting a new Guild which hasn’t been accepted yet by the playerbase. It’s kind like how the unity/working together theme worked through the Zhaitan storyline, but this time to help cement the Guild in the players mind, by making each NPC face their own individual challenges before realising they all need each other.

I wanted to say I passed this along directly, and the Customer Support team is working with our provider to investigate this issue. Thank you for the report.

We were aware of some sort of quirk with the in-game mail delivery system, but whether they are connected or not, we’ll get this sorted.

Aerial Combat for all?

I have no real objection to widening the use of the current aerial mastery, although that might risk gating an (albeit entirely optional) part of combat behind both HoT and LS3 for newer players.

As for an all new combat system, I would expect it would had to have been incorporated from the original glider design onwards, although again I’m against the idea. In fact it would gel nicely with idea of airship combat that has been suggested in the past. Glider combat would allow you to dive off your Guild Airship and strafe and bomb and zap from the air individually whilst airship cannons blaze around you.

Of course, that is entirely fanciful and would require insane resources to implement no doubt, but one can dream/imagine

Here’s a thought: How about waiting until it’s actually in the game before deciding whether we like something or not?

I think I detect a bit of an ironic voice in that comment. However, I agree with the advice because it just makes sense. (Sort of like looking at the pictures in a photograph menu isn’t the same as tasting the food?)

We know from the blog post that a static screenshot doesn’t show us all the elements incorporated into the legendary armor. I’m looking forward to you guys seeing it fully, after which it’ll be great if you share those impressions as well.

Here s a thought, how about making the new gear obtainable in EVERY game mode? There isnt even a WVW ascended armour vendor in that neglected game mode and now you r bringing new shinies for pve only. Even spvp got a decent way of getting ascended 2 seasons ago. And wvw we can go 600ranks and get AT MOST a pair of rimgs with fixed stats, not even able to select stats.

The hardest work has been making it animate. Now that is out of the way, I would expect it will open the door for more designs and across other modes. WvW feels prime for this, since it lacks a lot of reward incentives to bring new blood and it’s a signature part of the game.

Solo stuff;

- Enough hero points to fill your elite spec
- lots of little events
- Adventures
- Collections
- Achievements, incl mastery points and finding hidden stuff
- map exploration
- the entire story
- farming for mats

Group
- all the metas
- some events, although you’ll usually find players fall in when they appear anyway
- some hero points

Think of it being like the Orr maps, but a bit harder with a a big group meta event every couple of hours, but much more to explore and find on your own.

I can’t really see it being an actual person impersonating Lazarus, rather something or someone who has become bound to the 4 aspects by way of whatever Caudecus substituted into the resurrection when he meddled

I had a bizarre thought along those lines – large concentrations of unbound magic cause anomalies to form. Could an anomaly formed from the bloodstone explosion, and became somehow fused with the 4 aspects of Lazarus that were present, resulting in a sentient anomaly that looks like Lazarus, and even thinks it is Lazarus? Since then, it’s been drawn towards the nearest concentrations of ley energy – first to Tarir, and then to Rata Novus.

It’s a nice idea, but they’ve gone to a lot of trouble to make this a big reveal, so it has to be something more “wow” than that.

I originally thought maybe somehow Caudecus trapped a part of himself in an artefact and the result is part Lazarus, Part Caudecus, but then that doesn’t hold up versus Lazarus’ intentions and Caudecus’ shock at seeing him, so I ruled that out.

So far, I haven’t seen a theory that holds up, so I’m betting no one has guessed right yet.

Mysteries that remain a mystery for too long become “pointless things we no longer care about”.

Other than the few times you redo map completion, nothing draws you there to remind you that a mystery is present, thus it isn’t a mystery any longer, just background art.

That can be valid in many cases, however this is not one of them, since 10 years on, players are still looking up and talking, wondering and speculating at its mysteries.
