I didn’t understand this, because I didn’t know this word.

Thanks for answers.

  • At 0:51 there’s a brand new green-destroyer model, as well. There may be more, finally some diversity in destroyers.

As to Lazarus “definitely being not Lazarus” – I wouldn’t be so sure. The PC’s lines are, after all, created from an incomplete perspective that we players know more about (that being that Lazarus can physically exist without all his aspects). All the lines prove is that the artifact did indeed have an aspect of Lazarus, if we take them at face value.

And whoever Lazarus truly is, it would seem that Kasmeer’s surprised by it (if the lines-to-imagery is giving an accurate depiction). Which if so implies Kasmeer knows something about his true identity (that is: knows who the person pretending to be Lazarus is, not that they were pretending to be Lazarus).

Something this reminded me of (which may or may not be completely irrelevant here) is some of the dialogue from Hidden Arcana, where Marjory and Kasmeer are surprised by, but seem to recognise, who gave the Master of Peace the egg – something that’s not really been revisited since, nor has it been revealed who they though it was.

It reminded me in the same way too, not that i can find much plausability in any potential link mind you.

Who is Kyle?

Kyle is the brother of Kasmeer who get her entire generation of Meade’s into the sewer. he was originally only a theoretical character to give Kasmeer a tragic background, but this is a good window to actually use him for the story.

That would a terrible way to bring in a character the vast majority of the playerbase has never really heard of. To build all this up and it to be essentially a nobody, would be a huge anti-climax and let down.

You’re the vast majority of the playerbase? not my fault you don’t read dialogue

No I’m not nor did I say I was, but I’m pretty confident in my saying most ppl wont have heard of this character as I would expect players to have forgotten any mentions of someone who is barely mentioned up to this point.

I’m not saying you aren’t wrong with your guess, but it’s def not a char which will have any significant impact as a reveal, which means if you are right, it’s going to fall dead flat.

This is a global internet game. Different countries have different expectations or laws or moral codes concerning in game violence or blood. Rather than code around these problems or make things different for different countries and territories, it is easier for most to just lower the rating and make it more accepting.

Yes Skyrim is cool in that respect (I have screenie somewhere of my charatcre on a bench with the decapitated head of his enemy rolling underneath), but it is a grittier, more realistic setting. GW2 is not realistic in look and feel and blood would actually be out of place. Blood and gore works where used in appropriate games. This franchise is not one of them.

Wold Boss Farming - Rewards?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

World bosses have an extremely small chance of a precursor drop and I think an even smaller chance of an ascended drop (except Teq and Worm who have higher ascended drop rates).

People mostly do them for dailies, salvageable rares, a chance at a Pre, and for many because they are fun yet easy. Claw of Jormag also has an associated collection derived from an item it very rarely drops.

In Orr, the Temples are done regularly for a variety of reasons;
- Collections (eg legendary precursor crafting , exotic item collections)
- Exclusive GH decorations
- Same rewards as other World bosses,
- Makes map travel in Orr a bit easier if the Temples are cleared

They mean Divinity’s Reach the city. Not the home instance, not the rest of Tyria (altho any mani city and LA will work).

Also, is it possible you have April’s brew from last year already?

Yeah double check I have the firs 4, so I assume May will be the start of missed one. And of course entering the main city, not sure how else one could visit their home unless entering the city first. Unless there an item that does that, then, I do not have/ use that, lol.

Water Dragon ''Bubbles'' will never come?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

With the Dragons being able to absorb spheres or powers or whatever from other Dragons when they die, this may make the DSD a more plausible possibility. As much as I like underwater content and am sad to see it devolve like it has, a fully oceanic expansion is not going to have widespread appeal, even with a massive overhaul of the mechanics.

Being able to absorb other Dragons magic/powers should bring the DSD closer, with minions potentially adapting to being on land.

Even if I am wrong and we do get an expac focussing on a lot of underater and sea based content, that is a lot of risk, work, imagination and mechanics to be added into the game. For that reason, I would not expect to see the DSD until last, to give to time to build up the rest of the game and work on what is necessary to get everything right.

Living World Season 2 - Not free?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

LS2 was never free unless you logged in during the initial launch period for each episode – exactly the same as LS3 which uses the same system.

Seasons are designed to be more like DLC’s bridging expacs, rather than outright free content, rewarding those who where there for the ride and also being able to be purchased using in game gold as well.

Now, it’s not a system I have favoured – I find it great for the time it was released, but confusing for newer players coming in and a bit of a strange gate which will exasperate as more seasons appear.

I’m not sure what the alternative is though, since it is a source of development income for the game and making it fully free may not be the right approach.

Except the bits that aren’t facts of course, like fractals being an utter disaster at HoT’s launch, which is subjective, entirely subjective.

You do realize that fractals were pretty abandoned right?? He basically said that fractals got so much attention that it has become one of the best parts of the game and that he loves fractals now. Did you even finish the videos?? sigh if you didn’t, then technically you haven’t even earned the right to comment on the material.

Yes, I watched them all. Fractals were not “awful, like really terrible” regardless to whether they are now in an even better state now or whether he acknowledges it. I loved fractals back then, I love fractals when they first launched and I love them now. At no point in their history is it a fact to say that they were “really terrible”.

I also don’t agree that HoT was bad on launch, although I appreciate that is his opinion and that of many others in the game, so that’s just a difference of opinion (one of many I have when I view his videos).

I also don’t agree the Current Events are “fantastic”. We have had some great ones with Caladbolg and the bandit bosses and executioner. But, whilst I agree with him the Current Events are a structurally nice idea, the quality has varied considerably and that has been reflected in pretty much every forum feedback thread I have read on them.

Was 2016 the best year for the game? Hugely subjective and perhaps slanted more to the pve side of things. 2013 felt stronger – we had a huge number of new features, new fractals, living story (despite the obvious issues with LS1), the start of more challenging boss mechanics with Teq, Marionette and Breachmaker, more festivals and a more lively WvW. 2016 was not WvW’s finest year imo.

Yes, I have watched the videos, but they are his opinions. They are not (all) statements of facts (there are some facts in there ofc) and I don’t really think he passes his reviews off as such.

The Desolation beyond the main Crystal Desert also contained Junundu, which were pseudo-mounts inspired heavily from the sandowrms in Dune. They were kinda fun to play though. People have speculated about their return in any future content related to Elona/Crystal Desert, however if The Desolation has become verdant again, who knows what their fate was.

Can we get a hardmode for pve maps?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

This has been debated many times. As posters have stated, the game could not sustain the fragmentation of the playerbase. Who would go to to Tequatl in nm when they can go to hm for better rewards? It would do damage to the long term feasibility of even having metas.

The other issue is, what will happen when those mastering it get bored? Demands for an even harder map? Abandoning altogether?

Anet want their open world accessible and encouraging cooperation across all skill levels. True challenge modes are rightfully reserved for instanced content.

How would you rank the new maps so far?

in Living World

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

Bloodstone Fen.
Pretty much got it all right, from a spectacular environment, a great story and excellent mobs. With a bit of farming as well. The only thing it got wrong was the number of players needed for Jades. Loved the lore as well and all the throwbacks to GW1. The NPC retelling the raid was excellent storytelling. The perfect season starter map and episode

Ember Bay.
This wins for the environment. The JP was one of the worst implemented designs anywhere in the game by a considerable margin imo, the mobs are dull, the events are mostly OK, but lack challenge. It never really felt dangerous and Death/Plant Destroyers look stupid and just made zero sense even with the explanation (which barely holds up to scrutiny anyway). However, despite all the negatives, I simply love the map!! So it gets ranked higher than it should. Plus I loved the drum thumps in the soundtrack.

Lake Doric.
Really I should rank it first or second – the map is decent, the events are well tuned and it has a top notch map story running through it. I am only downgrading it for a personal lack of interest in high end Krytan zones. It’s an excellent map, let down only by the completely ridiculous and out of place centaur farming section.

Bitterfrost.
Bits of it are brilliant (the meta, the forest, the quaggan/kodan city). Bits of it are terrible beyond belief. I mean logically the map shouldn’t even exist in this geographical layout. It is a dumping ground of areas in a small space which make no real sense. This should feel like a distant wilderness, yet Hoelbrak is in regular touch with this area? How did this area feed the Kodan ships into Frostgorge when it’s clearly been frozen for a long time, with no real links to further waterways?

I love all the Kodan lore and as a huge fan of “cold” areas, I love the feel when the storm hits…but even the story is dire. We go to the old zone to find an Icebrood with new corruption…yet a death touched Icebrood event starts at the entrance to the map!!
I wanted to like this map more than any other, since I am desp to see the Northern Shiverpeaks again…but it was the worst episode in the worst map for me. It didn’t even have music which fitted the atmosphere of the map…I think I detected starter zone music at one point which was completely out of place!!

It is used like a city though. At no point it is functioning or used as a theme park. Sure it has big aquatic animal buildings, but it also has a trading and crafting and eateries and cannons and working docks and fishing and even a wedding venue. It was simply not believable the ramshackle Old LA could withstand any significant threats and as it turned out..it could not.

Like it or hate it, it functions and is used by the populace, as a city as it always has. It’s just been modernised. Cities move on as technology progresses. It is an important symbol that the main inter-racial hub of the continent shows this progress.

I do however like the idea of a rebellious faction of the population fighting back against progress. That would make it more realistic, even if they would be destined to lose.

All HoT Music Festival

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

I wasn’t aware they made a festival – it’s an orchestra that the composers and Audio devs had links to and worked with them to use their music as part of a performance.

The music since LS1 has been exceptional from GW2’s sound studio, whether it’s Scarlet’s BreachMaker Theme, the Maguuma Wastes or the excellent tracks from Auric and Tarir. They are on par if not better than some of the stuff Jeremy Soule did specifically for GW2 (which aren’t as great as his GW1 tracks).

My only criticism is that it hasn’t entirely followed through into LS3, but that may be a resource factor. I have high hopes for the 2nd expansion of a return to form.

The orchestra was a bit off in places, but overall it was a cool and fun thing to listen to

Pardon me, it wasnt a music festival it was supposed to be an ochestra perfomance but because i forgot what the word was then i use music festival instead of that Really A pain, havent use orchestra or listening to orchestra words for a realllyyy long time so i had forgotten about it. And thank you for correcting me. Well there will be time when we can listen all the soundtrack of each maps in GW2

Well, you sorta can. There is a way of using the below link and GW2 to create your own playlists. I don’t really use it to know how, since with only a few exceptions where I switch to the Skyrim OST, I’m happy with the existing map playlists.

Might be worth an explore if you haven’t encountered it before
