I prefer the new one, it shows the technological progression of a civilisation. This isn’t Game of Thrones where the World doesn’t progress for thousands of years, GW2 shows a remarkable affinity for progressing both magically, and more importantly, technologically. This is a key backbone of the overall GW2 narrative and New LA is a symbol of that.
As for funding, it was funding by the equivalent of a Corporation, which seems to have considerable funds and resources. Something I hope we find out more details on someday.
I would not like to see backward progression of one of the key towns. I can’t say that it would make much sense to go back to the ugly shambles it once was, regardless of whether it had character or not.
(O_O) Why did no one think of this before? Fractals would be an amazing solution to play missed content from LWS1. I 100% support this idea.
It’s been suggested a huge number of times since LS1 finished. The idea itself is quite appealing for many, same with Marionette which also gets suggested. The problem is doing the originals justice.
Nightmare Tower for example is based on the LS1 chapter, but is absolutely nothing like the original in mechanics or story. Battle for LA was great, because it was a huge, epic coopertaive group based content. There is a feeling that could not be recaptured in a small party.
Personally, I like the idea of Fractal Raids, incorporating enough ppl that things like Marionette, Battle for LA, Claw Island (see someones Claw Island survival suggestion recently) and other sweeping epics could be given justice to.

You should never hit a level wall if you are doing hearts and events as you progress round a map – they are the primary source of xp and will shoot you up the levels extremely quickly.
Hearts and events tell the “story” of each map and there are lots of other things packed away in a map as well. Each map has a recommended level range as well to guide you roughly where to go next without getting too overwhelmed and if you are higher than that range, you are down levelled to match the content to avoid being overpowered (something I wish more games would do).
I’ve had zero issues at any time of day (UK)
For a current MMO, this sucks. I understand that HoT was awhile ago and most people have already done it, but there are some of us who have not and there will continue to be people like me. To go and organize something for a collection piece doesn’t seem worth the time, but again it is preventing me from two achievements…
I didn’t realise that it still needed a T4. Yes, that is a shame. T4 was hard enough to get going when HoT was at its peak, so I’m surprised any collection is locked behind T4 at this stage.
You’ll need to state EU/NA. EU has the Open Community which organises things like Triple Trouble Wurm and other big events. Looking at the ir calendar, they also do TD and Auric, so maybe they will add a VB on request sometime
http://www.theopencommunity.org/calendar/2-guild-wars-2-regular-events/
I wasn’t aware they made a festival – it’s an orchestra that the composers and Audio devs had links to and worked with them to use their music as part of a performance.
The music since LS1 has been exceptional from GW2’s sound studio, whether it’s Scarlet’s BreachMaker Theme, the Maguuma Wastes or the excellent tracks from Auric and Tarir. They are on par if not better than some of the stuff Jeremy Soule did specifically for GW2 (which aren’t as great as his GW1 tracks).
My only criticism is that it hasn’t entirely followed through into LS3, but that may be a resource factor. I have high hopes for the 2nd expansion of a return to form.
The orchestra was a bit off in places, but overall it was a cool and fun thing to listen to
another easy way is to unlock the temples in Orr, here you can buy exotic armor (non-HoT)
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Temple_armor
Costs a bit of Karma, though, but heythe biggest problem is that it’s in Orr, which 80% of the time is also a deserted wasteland, and what’s worse is that you need to complete events to unlock the vendor, so he probably won’t be available unless I somehow luck out on people actually being on the map and not just gathering wood.
Like Illconceived said, temples in Orr are still done extremely regularly. Its not hard to find a vendor selling Temple armor
This. Orr’s population is pretty strong, the only downside is the lack of options on the stats. You could also look at dungeons, although again stats are limited to specific sets.
I like the idea too, especially the use of the siege there. Not sure the siege would work well with rewarding those who survive, since siege users would be fairly exposed, but in principle I like the idea.
Claw Island is a nice pick as well as it is well set up for this kind of fight. I’m not sure it would fit for most of the Dragons though, but perhaps when the DSD enters the fray, it would become more appropriate.
The adventure one took me a week of doing nearly every adventure on silver or gold.
There is another one from strongboxes. This link helped make it a lot quicker
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_chests_in_Auric_Basin
I also think trait lines should consistently be better colour coded for ease. I think Warrior is quit hard to distinguish which line is which, whilst ele is very clear
Fairly certain I had to do 8 to get mine
Number 3 is happening regardless of the expansion. They have confirmed they are working on more fractals – who knows, we may even see one next episode. We seem to be in the middle of a fractals storyline, so plenty more will be coming.
Balancing should not wait for an expac, although with new elites likely, some balancing will need to happen. I suspect lessons have been learned from the previous round.
As for the new weapon of land spear, I would never rule it out. For starters we at least have a small supply of skins from the underwater version and there has always been those loading scenes since launch with that mysterious guy holding a spear or halberd. Considering they took staff and altered it for a new use, I think spears make sense for an adaptation.
Whether ppl like a particular legendary or not, they are still a named, unique weapon and it would not make any sense to have multiple skins (or colours) for them. In that respect, no i don’t think we should have multiple colours.
The other issue, where does the line get drawn about what colours get included or excluded? It would be simpler to leave it as it is and spare the additional outcries that players want even more colours.
Cool, thanks for the heads up.
Go on, give a sneak peak tho. Just a little one…maybe even just an episode title ;D
I hadn’t seen the copter glider before….
that is,,,
GLORIOUS!
Hasn’t the glider been around since last SAB? Can’t recall any complaints issues that time around?
Also, just listened to it…not hearing a sound as bad as to compare to wanting to “put a sick animal out of its misery”. Think your simile’s might be out of whack there.

If you missed them by hours, support are generally understanding on the issue.
If it’s been a window of time otherwise, Anet do not bring back items on request for a specific time. Everything ends up on rotation, so if you missed them, they will be back at some point.
Pretty certain it’s not meant to look like Anubis – it’s just the name they went with to match an idea/theme.
I like the look, although I am with the first comment though about being unsure of the pants. Decent screenies as well.

I don’t think the LS3 maps depend on any meta events. There is a semi meta, but really it’s the spine of the map’s story to make it clearer what that maps narrative is, which is a very important part of the open world story telling at the end game level.
Metas for HoT will have to be looked at down the line. There def felt too much emphasis on them, hence the change in direction in LS3 and too many meta maps is unsustainable, esp if the game ever decides to expand beyond this continent.
As new expacs arrive and older content becomes harder to fill with people, I suspect we will see a rebalancing or scaling down of those events to make them doable. We’re not at that stage yet, but I can envision that day potentially coming in 2-3 years time. I don’ think we will see complete abandonment for even longer, simply because new people will continue to come up through the ranks and as long as the rewards are relevant, players will still do them.
As for dungeons, I’m not as convinced about their power as you are, they certainly lack the community working together feel of the open world. Having said that, instances are unquestionably a draw. I hope we don’t see a point where dungeons themselves are gone for good, but I think the addition of raids and the much improved emphasis on fractals has been a decent enough compromise which fits this game right now.

I’ve always liked the idea my PC’s from GW1 became Exalted. I’m sure there’s all sorts of reasons to disprove that theory, but it feels like a fitting end to some of their stories.
A VA set for your main char is pretty extensive and needs ongoing commitment for each new story chapter and scheduling across all languages and for male/female. There’s no way to cut corners on that.
I’m not against a new race by any means and I agree Tengu is in the best place for it, but it would still surprise me to ever see one, based purely on how things have panned out for the game up to this point.
Only time will prove me right or wrong. If it’s any consolation, I’m usually wrong on these matters, so you’ll probably get your wish
Pretty certain we will never see a new race. There are a lot of obstacles to overcome;
- How to treat the personal story. ie use it or ignore it
- Additional layers of VA – both for hiring and scheduling/recording. Multiplied across all supported languages
- Making sure armours are compatible w/o the clipping issues Charr have
- Will the time spent making them yield more than new content?
- Which race gets the nod? Once one goes in, it opens the flood of requests for more, thus looping round to the other points.
Tengu appears to have the best chance compared to say Largos which appears to have an incredibly low chance, but I’m not seeing any ever get added. The work to make them fit appears to outweigh the potential gains and it’s not like we don’t have a decent number of races anyway.
New races also risk becoming watered down versions when made playable. Look at Norn as the classic example who are a shadow of what they were in GW1. Would the Largos be more interesting as a playable race? Very doubtful.
So no, I can’t see it happening and is probably why they gave us that combat usable Kodan tonic as well.
I agree W2 was not as well designed. It used to be a lot worse and a lot longer and there was a huge outcry which pulled devs off other things to shorten and improve it (that may/may not have been the catalyst for SAB dropping off the priority list later).
I also hate Trib. It just isn’t fun for me and far too long and frustrating to spend trying to get through, even with a video. But, ppl seem to like it, so at least it gives a bit more extension to the festival.
It’s a cool downtime festival, but it hasn’t grabbed me this year sadly. Maybe I’m more invested in other things atm (like actual Zelda), but I haven’ felt the “pull” so much..yet!
Love the diving goggles idea
If you havent bought any gems etc then im not sure how the discussion forums can help you.
Submit a support ticket and they will be able to tell you exactly what has happened.
Seems like a lot of work for no gain. I too don’t like the regular, geometric shaping, but I don’t want them reworking old maps at the cost of new content when it will make zero difference to the game.
I don’t agree that mysteries have an expiry date. Wizard’s Tower is the sort of place that benefits from ongoing mystery. Once that mystery is gone, what makes the Tower so inviting, so interesting is gone and gone forever.
That is not something I would like to see happen and hopefully it can remain a permanent mystery where people can forever look up and wonder.
Some mysteries benefit from being resolved – this is not one of them imo.
It sounds like it is part of the intended behaviour from the recent fix to multi mapping
- Players can no longer open more Great Exalted Chests and Grand Exalted Chests by changing map instances after completing the meta-event in Auric Basin.

tldr: if you are going to change map, do it before the event finishes.

2nd May makes the most sense to me too.
No, but I have instinctively done it in other games.
Apparently there are no updrafts when jumping off Minas Tirith for example….
Try going Plains of Ashord, Queensdale, Metrica, Celdon and poss Wayfarer.
If you hover the mouse over the title of the map, it will give you the . There were some adjustments to those maps a couple of years+ ago which may affect your 100
Possibly, but altjough a single player game, Zelda released with cartoony graphics and is being critically heralded as one of the greatest games of all time.
I dont think the gfx or the art are holding back the game at all, if anything they help define it. I’m still unconvinced a fresh coat of paint so early in its life is a necs development.
Cartoony looks also age slower than realistic ones and whilst gw2 has aged, it hasnt aged to its detriment yet.
Ive had a blue this year. I usually get a couple of chests from the festival, which is fine considering they are purchasable.
Never had an orange drop though, didnt realise they dropped
I wouldn’t expect it until after the PvP season.
why? since when do either team wait for the other to finish? they’re two different game modes, bud
Pvp and pve seasons have not clashed during ls3 at all yet iirc, i assume to spread content evenly so players arent conflicted between game modes too much.
I think the stumbling block is that they arent replayable and they said they have no plans to make them so. That means keep making alts over and over if you miss an achievement or take a diff path, which is way too clunky.
I like the idea o having them, but with all the branching instances and stories, i imagine it is prob a time vinsuming task, with very little return.
Out of curiosity, what major MMOs have “remastered” without releasing a new sequel of the game? I’m not sure how I would even research the question, so I’m relying on other posters anecdotes.
My guess is that this is something that no game company has ever done.
World of Warcraft “remastered” over the course of a couple of expansions. Updated character models, textures, effects and so on. It’s a massive undertaking as you’d expect and I don’t think it’d make sense for GW2, I think the game looks really good now, of course, YMMV.
Generally MMO’s find ways to improve the game looks as time goes on. GW2 did well to produce HoT and keep the min reqs the same, despite any strain and lag. LOTR def improved in the gfx dept as time went on. Seeing what it did with Minas Tirith and then looking back through the game, you can see the improvements.
I expect to see such minor improvements with each subsequent GW2 major release.
Holllllyyyy kittens that is impressive.
I hope that gets showcased by the community team!
cough
Not that I’d ever give predictive commentary on an upcoming CSL, but, in a hypothetical sense, given Josh Foreman is my guest and given SAF is ongoing at the time of the live broadcast, well, merely speculatively speaking, wouldn’t it be cool if maybe a clip were shown and… something like that?
Oh on a purely hypothetical level if such a scenario could occur, then it would be very appropriate.
Speculatively speaking only of course………..
Seriously! We need that! But then, Neo, maybe you and I are a small percentage of people?
Make it 3
Thanks very much Greener, got all the info I needed. By the way, think one of your Guildies was looking for you (Yuri?)
I’ve sent you a temp invite to a guild with a fully upgraded LP hall.
Cheers for that, having a quick look now
Most of the videos I’d already seen and don’t include fully upgraded version. Those that do don’t really show off the Guild Hall very well.
I’ll browse the gallery again, but if anyone has any additional screenies or vids of their own GH, please feel to post, esp with any decorations/creativity put into it.
Holllllyyyy kittens that is impressive.
I hope that gets showcased by the community team!
Does anyone have a video of this GH which has all the main buildings upgraded? Or even a series of decent screenshots? We are debating a change from Gilded Hollow since some of the buildings look rather dull and the shiny gold structures over shadow the decorations at times.
Cheers
Just in case others didn’t notice this addition, they listened to our feedback and added SAB music to the tavern upgrade list.
Needs both boom boxes and 500 continue coins
S5 wont release during a festival. I suspect it’ll be a couple of weeks after or after the pvp season ends, whichever comes first.
GW2 is not yet at the stage of needing nor benefiting from a new gfx engine. It is too young and still performing strongly enough as it is. The gfx and art have never really been the loudest criticism of the game.
There are other things way more important to the game (a content dump from the forthcoming expac, a wvw focus just to name 2) right now that will help it continue to compete with the other Triple A MMO’s.
