Difficult to criticise, seems to overall improve functionality without ruining the clarity of the display from before.
What I would say is that the search bar could use moving to the left. When you hover over the categories at the top, the drop down display covers the search bar entirely. It is a minor issue of course (since the drop down displays go when you use the search. anyway), but it might tidy things up a little. Or move the drop down to a side preview since it is a tad obnoxious when it pops up over the main UI
Another idea could be to give the seasonal category box at the bottom its own colour. Currently New is blue, featured is yellow and seasonal is also blue. Perhaps red or purple for seasonal to separate it out a little
Love the preview function and the overall speed improvements.
Wiki suggests a buy now button should appear next to the episode in the journal
“Episodes of the Living World must be unlocked in order to play them. Unlocked episodes can be accessed by any level 80 character on your account. There are two methods for unlocking episodes. Episodes can be unlocked for free simply by logging in to any character during the episode’s original release window. This lasts until the next episode is released; for Season 3 (current season), episodes are on a cadence to be released two to three months apart. After the release window, players can unlock the episode for 200 Gems. The journal will indicate this with a “lock” icon and a “Buy Now” button."
I’d be more helpful, but having them unlocked due to logins, means I can’t actually see them in the gemstore to direct you accurately.
Thanks. That info helped me a lot. Getting them now.
No problem, enjoy!
There have been no new weapons since the game launched. The expansion brought more range to each class, but that was 2 years ago so you are probably aware of that.

I believe you purchase them in game via the gemstore with gems bought with money or in game gold (press O in game to pull it up)
Being able to farm a node regardless of your crafting profession…and nodes not being exclusive.
Being able to explore and fight underwater. Regardless as to whether it is a sadly neglected part of the game, I still love it.
Is he Colin Johanson’s replacement?
Don’t think so. Mike O’Brien would prob announce a new Game Director himself since he is covering that role and that would likely get a more prominent announcement given the position.

Im sure they could redeign it in keeping with the original layout, but using different merchants and airships. Perhaps the consortium or the BLC have gained possession of some zephyrite crystals and made a theme park in tribute to the original festival.
Or perhaps the survivors of the zephyrites have gained a new airship and set up anew back there or return their yearly as before.
The Anet team are imaginative enough to find a workable reason for it to exist, I suspect it is resource and time factor issue. Many plates to juggle and all that.
I would def welcome its return though, in any form.
I believe the last statement made by the company (memory only here, so don’t quote me) was that it was to keep the gap from the top from becoming too great. It would appear to be further evidenced by the very poor amount of AP we have been getting since HoT and LS3.
There are other speculative reasons, the obligation to keep it up for the top tier on the leaderboard and pressure to keep designing new rewards being amongst them.
I’m not convinced any of these adequately apply anymore, although if they do raise the cap, perhaps dailies should be only worth 5 or perhaps birthdays could raise the cap as a loyalty bonus every year.
I don’t really care either way to be honest since the daily AP isn’t a draw for me to login and I’ve spread my gain well over 5 years to still leave me about 3-4k left for the cap despite logging in most days.
Who is he, and why does this matter?
According to google, he is the new director of design for Anet having been involved in games like For Honor for Ubisoft. An experienced games design studio director seems a pretty good addition to the team.

If they dropped the raid team today, it wouldn’t mean we would get any more content or the other content any faster. The raid team is tiny. One of the reasons is that they cater to the smallest demographic in the game: only some of us enjoy raiding and only some of the rest of us are willing to put up with it for various shinies. It’s much easier to design for a small group than the one-size-fits-all approach that’s required for open world content.
I am not suggesting to drop the raid team. I am just sad that the raids are the only part of content updates that gets most of developer’s love and passion. The raid team is tiny and produces great content. Why don’t we have a tiny team that can give us 4-5 new fractals in 2 years? I mean new fractals, not chaos, that is made of old fractals, or nightmare (I love this one, but) made of scrapped LS1 instance. With new bosses, enviroments and new mechanics. Like, again, raids.
The only logical answer I can give to this question is that fractal-dungeon demographics is small enough to just ignore it. In GW2 apparantely there are more raiders than fractal or dungeon lovers. Just like World of Raid-or-Quit Warcraft which I am so tired of right now sigh.
Chaos and nightmare are still new fractals built from the ground up regradless of their theme. Plus players have asked for ls1 content as fractals. We also have a new fractal due soon which they seem pretty excited about.
Fractals does have a great deal of choices, but even if 4-5 every 2 years, there will be a subset of players who will be bored. Raids have 4 wings and thats it so far. Excluding originals, fractals have had snowblind, aether, mai trin, molten, molten boss, thaumonova, chaos, nightmare all added. Plus two major overhauls, a legendary reward and challenge modes. Sure it is nice to get more, but it also hasnt been neglected compared to say how WvW and other areas of the game were for a log time.
As for dungeons, well there is an argument thta if TA4 is dead, then why should they add new dungeons if previous form shows a lack of popularity.
I doubt Anet will go back and fill in any of the blanks for HoT at this stage, although it is not the only hole waiting to be filled.
If it is of interest, I have a linked a previous thread on the subject which has a bit of community discussion and speculation in it.

No lag at all when I logged in about an hour ago
I think there are only 3 random options for easy bounty – Poopadoo, Brekkabrek and the fields of ruin tornado woman. Those are the ones designed for very small groups due to mechanics and ease of finding.
I would support brand new bounty targets though, but I think they have no plans for further work on Guild Missions going forward at this time based on I think one of the AMA’s on Reddit a while back.
It would be impossible to summarise the balance changes from feb onwards and you will get a lot of subjective and also hyperbolic responses. As balances go, it was nowhere near the big overhaul many other games do with their balances. It was tweaks here and there. Naturally some builds fell by the wayside and new ones cropped up.
The best advice is to head to the profession subforums and ask about the profession(s) you use most.
Most significantly, they are separating pve and pvp skills more and more, which is a good thing.
WvW got some love in the last few weeks. I havent checked recently, but the initial responses was very positive, with big queues to get into WvW. A lot of it is to do with the new rewards system for skirmishes and also the new legendary backpack.
Pvp got automated tournaments, but as a rare pvper, im not best placed to say how that is going. I think it is now solo/duo queue only now based on popular feedback?
Rather than tell you to search yourself, here are some links for the recent updates

Pve had two new episodes, with new maps and masteries and legendaries

Id not like to see number 2. I like seeing the shield on my back when stowed and this option would ruin the look for me as much as the current one does for you.
If they could ever make a toggle for deciding whether back ir shield gets priority on stow, then that would be win/win for all, but it might not be a technical possibility.
I dont think these are an approved retailer as far as i can see on the official gw2 approved listing.
If they arent, then any issues with the account risk not being supported (and potentially terminated in extreme cases if memory serves me). That would it make incredibly bad to buy from. Tdlr buy at your own risk to your account.
If ive overlooked them on the approved list….then as you were!

Assuming this is a serious thread…
The game deliberately cultivates a cooperative instinct among players – it is one of the foundations of the game and why so many gravitated to it early on. If I see someone attacking a mob and I am passing, I instinctively attack it as I go by, knowing no one loses out from doing it.
The game is big enough, with enough mobs that you will find enough test mobs scattered around, but getting frustrated with others for wading in on occasion is unnecessary since it is exactly how the game is designed to be
check communtiy creations on community corner category to see some results about the public opinion about general idea of getting mounts.
and yeah boys the mount gameplay will be fun as hell you’ll see ^^ .
At some point maybe you will get the picture that spamming your poll, which I must say doesn’t really provide significant data, and having the mods remove it over and over is not going to work out well for you. There have been many, many mount related polls conducted over the years on this forum. None of which could be considered statistically valid no matter the outcome. Also as it has been stated many times mounts of some form are going to arrive in the next expansion if the leaks are correct. So I don’t really understand what your crusade is about.
Proving what the actual majority wants ! despite all the arguments !
thats an actual argument! hope the results convinces you !
I have no feelings either way on mounts, Im quite happy with or without, but your poll will not come close to a majority. Id be surprised if you even get 1% of the population of the game.
At the moment, the point is moot. All we have are leaks, which aren’t confirmed or denied and already many of the leaks that came out concerning episode 5 were wrong. I specifically point out one that said episode 5 def did not reveal lazarus to be whi he was and we would def have a crystal desert set up by its conclusion. There are other things too which were false.
I know people want to speculate, but prob better to wait until they officially announce anything. Regradless of anyones feelings, if they are coming, then they will have already read the feedback aplenty over the years and it will be set in stone. If they are #fakenews then a lot of ppl may end up feeling a bit foolish.
Would go very nicely with the hellfire armor set, so yeah, that would be cool.
Exactly my point, my warrior is themed as a destroyer, weapons and all, with a mix’n’match of hellfire and Flame Citadel armor
This sounds familiar….
Also bear in mind the time of announcement to launch for HoT was considerable, meaning beta length was quite long. This expac hasn’t even been offically announced yet and is due towards the end of the year, meaning it will likely be quite a short beta in comparison if there even is one.
GW2: Faren’s Excellent Adventure
Because of budgetary considerations the Faren’s Excellent Adventure expansion will come with only one armor set. In honor of our Lord Faren there will be a Speedo for men and a fur bikini for women.
Most excellent.
GW2: Faren’s Excellent Adventure
I hope so the teaser of primordus kinda gives me this feeling that we wont get any kitten fights with elder dragons from here on out :/
It is a concern, but then again can they really do the ED’s justice? Zhaitan looked cool, but felt too small and the fight was a disaster. Of all the things to rush in a game, a central protaganist should never have been one of them.
Mordremoth was a lot better visually, but the fight outside was rather….tame. Sure we could say it was distracted by the mental battles, but the lead up to him was far more dangerous and it felt a tad anti-climatic.
Apart from this weird metaphysical story of balancing magic out because…“reasons”, these are primordial threats and shouldn’t be killed off. Look at the Mythos stuff – the big nasties are ever present.
I’m not saying they shouldn’t appear, but fighting and killing them off removes much of their mystique.
Some sound advice above and I echo the fact that ascended will make zero difference to surviving in HoT. Ascended is mostly for fractals and poss raids now, but otherwise provides little advantage to open world play.
Fractals have replaced dungeons. They are the replacement 5-man instanced content.
They gave up on dungeons for a few reasons – they found fractals worked better for them and the dungeons are in a mess in terms of speed running and exploiting and it was too much work to overhaul. I believe when they added new dungeon paths (well the 4th path in Twilight Arbor), interest did not remain as high compared to fractals.
It’s never been a popular decision, but I rather like fractals and am happy they have kept these going and are invested continued resources into them.
i dont do fractals, i lothe most raids dungeons, pve etc. and everything i look at says i need Vial of Condensed Mists Essence, or Glob of Coagulated Mists Essence.
Isnt there anything else?
can someone provide me a list or a recipe for one i can make with just mats? thanks
The easiest/quickest way is if you own LS3. You can get a different from each map from the individual map items you farm there. It does mean doing Pve open world tho.
It is fairly common to use lfg or the players helping playersforum to get temp help gaining your hall. That will allow you to have a 1 person GH.
The wiki has the clearest info
Ancient Magics is unlocked after entering Bloodstone Fen during the story of Out of the Shadows, or after entering Ember Bay during the story of Rising Flames.
Just to clarify, since you have mixed reponses.
You have HoT and played enough to unlock the mastery system?
If you have finished all of s3, then you have access to the ancient magics line. Or do you mean, you finished the latest episode?
Yes you will need to pay for the first episode of S3 if you lack it and yes clarity and communication from Anet ( like most mmo companies i am rapidly seeing) needs improvement in areas like this.
You dont need season 2 since that was before the masteries
You ideally need ep1 of season 3, altho i think i was told one of the other eps unlocks it too
Have you unlocked the mastery system from HoT itself?
Reading saurian page and it says they’ve also been seen in tarnished coast, and even blood legion homelands! How do we know this?
From GW1’s ime. We discovered many Saurians in these areas during the Eye of the North campaign.
They were marketed as new when HoT came out, and Saurian wasn’t a term in the first game.
Although Saurians were new to GW2 (excluding traditional raptors) with HoT, those particular Saurians are new to the franchise altogether. GW1, whilst having Saurians in those areas, had the below models instead. None of the larger GW2 Saurians were in GW1 iirc.

I have a 100% record so far…
…Of being wrong.
Very little seems to be progressing in a natural, logic order anymore, so I’m just gonna ride it. I love the World, the little stories in each map, but the whole main story is just all over the place and too uncohesive for me to spend much time speculating going forward.
According to the forums we’ve had the following in the gems store and that def means getting the appropriate content;
- Jormag dyes – Jormag and Drakkar
- Aurene hat – Aurene
- Foefire stuff – Rytlock’s story through the mist and The Black Citadel
- Godslayer Bow – Fighting Balth or another GodI think we can discount using the gemstore as a guide for upcoming content at this point, since otherwise this episode will be bigger than the rest of the season put together and not have any time to set up the expac…
I think we can agree SOME of it is a hint. The problem is knowing what. Currently I think it’ll be jormag/norn story and Aurene. Rytlock with xpac because ascalon is close to supposed desert xpac, we can pick him up or something. And of course the god story isn’t over, but probably limited involvement in EP6
I don’t agree that any of it is a hint. I think the only trend is tying them in to the LS3 as a whole – which makes absolute sense for them to market. I don’t disagree that Jormag could be a part of the next episode, but that is simply because the current rotation has had 2 White Mantle eps, 2 Primordus eps and only 1 Jormag episode.
If I’m wrong, so be it, but I do think using the gemstore as a preview for upcoming content is overdoing it a bit.

I agree with you on – I think GW2 has long since lost its sense of identity when it comes to aesthetics and has succumbed to a much more wacky and cartoony style than even its predecssor.
However, since they seem popular enough to keep funds coming into the game, it is just one of those things to ignore or put up with. On the plus side, the sheer volume of mix and match choices does allow for a great deal of variation out there.
As far as I remember, only Fear Not This Night was ever on itunes as the official soundtrack was a limited sale directly through Soule’s Directsong outlet.
If it’s not on itunes, there is probably a legitimate reason behind it, either on Anet or Soule’s behalf.
You can download them off the site JustTrogdor linked if I remember correctly – that is the equivalent of their official site for music
HoT is aimed at level 80 players. Apart from gliding and some quality of life improvements via the HoT progression system, I would play from core and get it when you are at the point of progressing.
Wheres the announcement of a festival starting tomorrow?
Well, there was this tweeted image from ANet
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DDGSBIfXkAIO42l.jpgNot so much a festival as a gemstore event.
Gotcha. Forgot to check their twitter feed. Too many places to go to find info!
Cheers!
If you have bought HoT, you have full access to the content therein. LS3 is not part of HoT. The confusion comes from needing HoT to play LS3 (you can even bank it for free it as a f2p by logging in every 2-3 months) due to the mastery progression system.
Aww – That’s it I guess? Yet, so many voices told us we were wrong when we said that HoT was a half baked, content lacking piece of DLC sold as an “expansion”. People kept defending the lack of content with statements advocating HoT like a “season pass” to the (meager) HoT package + the promise of L3 story content.
So HoT is basically: Gliding, 4 different 4-layered maps, 1 elite spec pr. profession and a few core buffs? Compared to most other games: Overpriced DLC?
Not really. If you look at it as DLC, then that is quite a large DLC compared to what other companies do.
- old secret world – £15-£20 for a single mission pack. Before it closed for the new version, that essentially cost double HoT for some qsts, a raid and half a zone
- zelda – £18 dlc, barely a couple of extra story bits, staggered over 8 months. In fact Mario Kart charged stupid money for extra tracks and characters. Different game type, sure, but still overpriced DLC if you factor in what you get vs what you pay.
- D3 expansion -£35 for a single Act and some extra classes and quests.
Obviously I am cherry picking and many DLCs achieve more for less and there is no denying HoT was lacking in places and really needed more to it, but compared to the rmuch of the market, I wouldnt call it overpriced. £50 for content still going strong after 2 years, even without LS3, seems reasonable to me.
Wheres the announcement of a festival starting tomorrow?
As much fun as this all sounds, in PvP/WvW situations, the potential for abuse of such cameras to be used as spy-cams might outweigh the benefits.
They could just disable it in those modes

Whilst I’ve never been a big fan of how the seasons are presented for new and rejoining players, Anet have always been clear about the pricing of the seasons.
As Ashen says, your tomato analogy also does not reflect the reality of this situation.
Contact support. I know at one point we considered it and they said they’d do it for us when we asked them.
The only map I probably “hate” is Straits of Devastation. I think if ANet today had designed it, it would be fun and interesting, but as an early precursor to what developed later, it just falls apart and is rather dull to play and look at when you reach the Orrian coast.
I’m not a huge fan of Dragon Stand because it feels like a waste of a map and Bitterfrost is just a mess of ideas which don’t gel properly, even though the scenery is spectacular in places.
Draconis Mons (for it’s originality)
Verdant Brink (the best of the HoT vertical zones imo)
Frostgorge (the most varied vanilla map)
Silverwastes (it’s fun to mess around in)
Queensdale (the best starter map imo and my first map)
Lake Doric (whilst small and bland in places, its story and warzone feel are second to none)
Honorary mention to Ember Bay – a beautiful, atmospheric map, let down by poor events and bosses, slightly overtuned Jade mobs and probably the worst designed JP conceivable.
Also to Southson which has all the recipes for a top notch map, except an actual reason to go there..
To be honest, I like almost all the maps except most of the Ascalonian ones (which are terribly dull imo) and the truly awful Straits of Devastation. Anet are generally very good at map design and using a map to tell a story (Fields of Ruin being an excellent example of map storytelling).
For the record, I have no major issue with Tangled Depths, it really does need a clearer mini map though

As above, you don’t need to do a single champ HP to max our your hero points for core + elite.
The champ ones are for those who want that extra challenge in the open world and it is fair for that to exist, whilst not impinging on others who want to be able do things on their own. The number of hero points allows for balance between the two types of players.
If the time ever comes that HoT is abandoned (which isn’t now), then perhaps they could readjust the champ HP’s, but as it stands, I am unconvinced of any need for it.
Ok, well i just added the lave skull backpack to my shopping list thanks to this thread
