Hardest parts of building my first (and only, so far) HoT legendary:
Other than that, I made enough in casual play to buy the time-gated materials over time. Took a few months to put Astralaria together, but I’m okay with that. And it’s going to look great on my Mirage.
I’m not seeing a Queen Jennah Devourer in the wiki entry. I will be very cross if that’s the case.
This so funny and oh so wrong on so many levels that I must leave you with a +10.
More like a +24. That’s how many I have. :\
I think you can mouse over the map completion UI and the ones not done will flash.
It’s still a bad design, of course, if you can’t tell by just looking.
Played since launch, never knew this. Now I use it all the time.
I can sort of get that, makes sence but this “G” is in the middle of the name it self. Oh well, at least we all know now.
Yeah, there goes my Warren G. Harding cosplay character.
/harumph!

That’s cute. 40 machetes. 40 c-ore.
It’s a dumb, RNG-loaded system that’s more complicated than it needs to be.
Instead of:
RNG loot value, check against chart/if statements, it would be better to use 1 RNG number and scale it via square root or logarithmic function to get a single result, which more importantly has the benefit of a better range of currency reward while still being random and favoring lower values.
Springer. Because this game’s terrain detection makes me rage, and having incredible jumping height is going to feel incredible.
RNGesus has only given me 1 cog out of 8 boxes I have bought :x. I was pretty miffed. At least the game threw me a bone and gave me two minis.
Yeah, my guildie had the same problem. I got huge-lucky and snagged about 30+ cogs in the free box. I didn’t realize they weren’t booby-prize currency. >.>
I brought ultimate as I saw the 4k gems as a future investment as I would be spending that somewhere in the next year on odds & sodds.
But will you wait?
I didn’t buy the ultimate version because I would probably just spend the 4k gems on character slots and storage within a day, instead of spending like 200 per week. I will probably spend 4k within the next half year, but that way it’s spread out. Spending 4k now would not keep me from spending another 4k in those months ^^
/lowerhead
/raisehandGuilty as charged.
ok ok – I didn’t wait….
those Living Story 1 boxes came out, and I have always been in awe of those shattered wings (I missed them when i started) So i spent 1.5k on those boxes, but I got the wings, after 4 years of wanting
im saving the rest for mount customisation lol
Yay! I’m so glad those wings came back for others to enjoy. I’ve been maining the shattered wings since Dragon Bash.
I did repport these name from MONTHS every single DAY and they are still in game with the same rudes names !
And I will repport them again and again …
Yeah, as I recall, the mods for that loosened up their restrictions. ..which is really disappointing, because there are some foul names running around out there.

Guilty as charged.
No, the problem is that “they” (the people I’m talking about), think that they’re accurately stating their preferences (for example by just saying “T4 Daily”) when they’re actually not.
But in reality they are stating their preferences clearly. They don’t have a training run, otherwise it would’ve been stated as such. It’s not rocket science, if it doesn’t have “Training” in the listing then it’s not training.
That assumption is such entitlement. And this is why I advocate not being lazy and writing in the group demands. If you’re just putting in “T4 Daily” then you have no right to whinge when non-meters or non-metas show up.
It’s 12 extra keystrokes for crying out loud: “, meta/meter”.
“T4 Daily, meta/meter”. That is not hard.
You’d type way more if you were looking for “PS condi war” or “chronotank”, so it’s not like being clear is all that difficult.
More class options. More story (that, fingers crossed, won’t suck). More terrain to explore.
Mounts.
And $50 worth of gems I was going to buy anyway. :P
(soloing hero points because nobody plays this game anymore).
As someone who has gotten used to, but doesn’t like, HoT, I can at least say that help isn’t usually too far away. Ask in map chat, shine up that Mentor apple, and usually someone will need that same hero challenge.
Case in point, Verdant Brink and the OP Frog/Wasp battle. Because why wouldn’t there be an overpowered champion for a solo event? I apple’d up and just started the fight, and while I was struggling, I got the fight about half done before flurries of people dropped from the sky to help. I won, they won, and we all went our separate ways.
Best MMO community.

I don’t mind the 2s cost to use the wp. I mind the feeling that it’s unnecessary. It seems like the most convoluted way of organizing. Why not just knock everyone down and return everyone in instance A to the same, newly-created instance B?
That might almost be too sensible . .
Can’t get the Precision Blade achievement because every time I try I have to listen to meetings and introductions then get sworn in to the shining blade. By then I’m bored with the whole endeavor.
a retry mote would be nice here.
Yup. Not going to retry that achievement, or anything out of Season 2. When the achievements are “don’t get hit”, something that can be screwed up in a single second out of a five-minute fight, and the punishment is restarting 10 minutes of story..
That’s not humane design, ANet. And that’s shameful.
I can give you two scenarios that mounts are always helpful. Farming nodes and map exploration. In both you’re not really Waypointing around and the mount will increase efficiency. So they have a place for people who do both.
For farming nodes they may actually not be so helpful, due to the “dismount to farm/need to remount later” mechanic.
But mount summoning is instantaneous. Like, I was walking, pressed my keybind, didn’t even stop. It shouldn’t interfere with gathering, etc unless someone really gets sick of pressing that button. (And they will, claiming it’s “killing keyboards” or whatever.)
Probably going to be Gift of the Vabbi or whatever. And hopefully the map completion items will be like HoT’s, per zone instead of per character to finish the whole thing.
…I never did finish HoT zones on my main. Oops.
You don’t even need a timer. Find out when it is just once. Is it half past an odd hour or half past an even hour? Whichever it is in your time zone, it will be like that for a very long time, until there is a time change like Daylight Savings. Is it up at 1:30 for you? Then every day it will be up at 1:30, 3:30, 5:30, etc. If you ever forget when it’s up, check a timer any time you like during the day, then you’ll know it’s every two hours from the next scheduled time.
Shouldn’t be that difficult to provide this kind of information within the game. It’s a mid-tier QoL I would like.
Not that time-tracking isn’t my biggest complaint with Dragon Stand. And I don’t mind using the wiki so much. /wiki et and, bam, full listing of what’s going on, so I can plan. And super thanks to the wiki folks to built that tracker.
I’m seeing entitlement on both sides of this argument but don’t mind me, I’m just enjoying the theatrics.
Right?
All I can really ask out of the PUG community (which I’m not specifically a part of because omg guilds in Guild Wars how to they happen) is that they label their groups to attract the right people in the first place.
If you want to dictate how people play, join/create a “meta, ArcDPS required” group. And don’t be a jackkitten when someone joins the group that happens to be sub-par.
“Hey, sorry, but our group said meter required and you don’t have one, so we’re going to remove you from the group.” Vote-kick, done, but with due diligence to some basic kittening humanity.
If you want a Fun Run, join/create a “non-meta, teaching, all welcome” group. If people pop in with a case of the meter-jitters, just let them know that’s not the focus of the group, and they’ll either bail or chill out. If they continue to rage: “Hey, sorry, but you’re WAY too angry for this group, so we’re going to remove you.” Vote-kick, and lesson learned.
Because there are markers of entitlement all over this argument, and have been for a long while, not just in this thread:
“I can kick people for whatever reason even though I didn’t say anything or tell anyone why.”
No, that’s being cowardly.
“I demand people adhere to my play style and can join whatever group I want, that’s what LFG is for!”
Yer probably the kind of person who ignores warning labels, too. Don’t be that person.
“PUGs are so irritating but I just want a [fast|fun] group that does exactly what I want every time!”
Have you considered a guild? Seriously, do it. Remove your toxicity from LFG.
“I’m afraid to make my own group…”
Don’t be! Just be sure to communicate what the group is for. And as extra insurance, only use LFG to fill in up to two spots. Bring two friends along so your group doesn’t get hijacked.
tl;dr – Communicate!
It’s not hard to be nice and still get what you want, folks.
(edited by Rauderi.8706)
Because no one reads LFG descriptions. It’s not uncommon to put in “80s exp” on a dungeon LFG and get a lvl 50 who has never done it before.
Or maybe a fresh Lv50 doesn’t know all this abbreviated lingo? If someone can’t be bothered to type in a few extra letters to say “Level 80, experienced only”, he deserves to have his time wasted with false positives.
..and then there are those who still don’t read descriptions. I can at least offer my sympathy there. >.>
Much the same, people should be willing to make their groups with meter requirements and be open about it. It’s not hard to type “ArcDPS required” or “No meters!”
The only reason we’re still getting tons of those useless “rewards” is the gem store:
- copper-fed salvage kit – 800 gems
- shared inventory slot – 700 gems each
- additional bag slot (soulbound) – 400 gems each
Otherwise, they could just give
us bags that containcrafting materials and skip the unnecessary blue and green armor/weapons in lvl 80 zones.
I feel it necessary to adjust this statement slightly. We get enough bags. Just go straight to the crafting mats or Exotic+ rewards.
Obligatory response
FYI: There’s a pinned thread at the top of this forum section to submit QoL suggestions.
Also might want to break that tl;dr into some smaller tl;dr posts.
This has been brought up many times and they pretty much said they can’t. They need those lengthy dialogues and cutscenes to set up the mission.
It’s more or less serving the purpose of a curtain in a play, and its a biproduct of the game being an MMO that runs on servers insteads of an offline game. The last I heard there was no viable workaround or solution.
Of course there is: Give us back those sweet dialogue cutscenes from the original campaign! They can be skipped, no problem.
Which the overwhelming feedback was from the players that they were largely disliked. Sure, there are players who do like them, but they changed them based on feedback.
I’m sure they are looking at workarounds, but going back to the old way is unlikely an option.
While the old Personal Story way did feel like a lame visual novel, I’m not getting much of an immersive experience out of the newer approach, and it doesn’t let me skip dialogue I’ve heard before.
Unfortunately, the ability to replay scenes or retry difficult achievements trumps my desire for a more free storytelling experience.
Best compromise I could think of would be animated cutscenes unless there is actually a need for player action.
Too many male faces look like this We really need at least few more options.
It’s pretty much the only one out of the new faces that isn’t totally diseased, perma-facepaint, or tongue-lolling dumb. :\
And of course, that one spikey, Final Fantasy-inspired hairdo is part of the meta.
So yeah, can we get some newer faces/horns/etc that are attractive enough to use but still convey ferocity?
I was going to say that short of making each of these backpacks a straight BLTC skin they won’t make them gliders too retroactively because it would mean that anyone can buy them without earning them, kittening off those that went to the trouble.
However, that is kind of the case now. It’s just a variable amount of gems to effectively buy each of them as a skin. You still have to build the Spinal Backpack, but you can buy all the parts to do it. So we’re probably getting closer.
I’m talking about making it unlock if you have the skin. Same way the black and white wing gliders unlock. So you can’t get the glider unless you have the jeptack backpiece. That’s about as fair as it can be.
That was a thing they did with the black/white wings after they added gliders.
You don’t get fall damage when you fall with a mount. I just got knocked down for like 2 seconds. Maybe that was just a bug tho.
I totally did take falling damage during the demo. Wasn’t too bad, but it quickly taught me to be careful with the raptor. Still hoping to be able to dismount mid-jump with the Springer, through.
And holographic wings, and shattered wings, and the bladed backpack!
Plzthx!
Gliding, et al, will take going to HoT and doing the Masteries for them.
If you want the bulk of your elite spec before going into HoT, do world completion and finish the extra hero challenges. That should give enough to give you almost everything but the final elite skill.
You can also do WvW and use Proof of Heroics currency to buy completion for random Tyria / HoT hero challenges, and the HoT ones give 10 points.
ANet said that there will be more to the Rifts. I’m expecting that to continue after PoF. Like the, erm, current Current Events, I expect it will be in Core Tyria, not HoT or PoF zones.
Yeah, I suspect what they’re actually doing is bundling and making the previous Current Events available and then working on a new set for the new xpac. Basically a bit of AP house cleaning before bringing in the new stuff.
Had to do the dance again yesterday:
Show up 10 minutes before.
Pray LFG gets posted.
Yay, LFG posted, join.
Go to map.
“Join” the other map.
…Success. This time.
Wait for timer to run out.
DIE
Get unlucky and end up in a second map. Oh No!
“Join” the other map, AGAIN.
Proceed to moderately successful Dragon Stand run.
Bonus: At no point, out of 40 caches/pods, do I get more than 1 Crystalline Ore. Not a 3-drop, and certainly not a 10-drop.
ANet, I love you, but this needs to be fixed! It’s easier on the code to give ceil(sqrt(rand()*100)) ore than to contrive a 2% drop rate for anything more than 1.
Pff, “Useless”. Give me that Springer so I can start making some jumps that were otherwise a huge pain in the kitten before. Not even talking about jumping puzzles, just random exploring in open world.
The select screen does need a huge rework. Especially with that character slot sale coming up.
Glad to see these items come back in some way. I managed to get the Selfless Potion out of it, but also glad to see the shattered/holographic wings for others to enjoy.
I’m curious if anyone knows the drop rate of the 4th item in the black lion chests?
I was quite keen to get the “Feathera of the Zephyr” glider but it looks like my luck is horrible.I was given (and had a few from mapping) 35-40 keys in the past 2 weeks and not one 4th item dropped.
I don’t really buy keys so I have no clue but all my guildies say they get them one in 5-10 keys.
So does anyone know the drop rate?
I’m in the same situation. I want that glider, and have spent about 20 keys trying to get it. No luck.
I got that Bird of Dwayna, but not what I really want, that glider.
~kicks chair~
Yeah, I got the stupid bird out of the 15+ keys invested so far.
Weekly key run on my alt account: Bam, gets glider.
Head, meet desk. Repeatedly.
The drop rate for the 4th item is something like 5%. Absolutely a ripoff.
I’ve been getting disconnected almost every night, sometime around 9-10pm Eastern. Yesterday’s DC was with 500 ping and several disconnects.
I can’t recommend the game in this state.
Hearts a bit grindy. Recommend 20% faster.
Raptor sticks on small hitches in terrain.
Raptor Engage skill should not be dependent on movement.
Unidentified Gear is a concern item for now. Might have potential if cheaper.
List of items:
Mob diversity!
Raptor!
Contracts! (more below)
tl;dr
Interesting interplay between trade keys, contracts, identification loot and karma.
The contracts as a limited resource but still giving mid-tier loot might very well help keep prices under control, and it uses Karma, which needed consistent sinks like this (instead of 300k vanity items). I’m hoping this works out in the long run.
Gave the demo a try so I could trot around on my raptor, and of course there’s the engage skill for the tail sweep. In the tooltip, it says it leaps into combat, and it has an 800 range with. But, even with an enemy targeted, the tail sweep wouldn’t go anywhere.
Was anyone else having this issue or was that a bug?
Oh god no, i didn’t mean to introduce them as tonics…tonics are horrible. You can’t dye them and they vanish in combat…underwater…expire after 15 minutes..no. I meant as Outfits.
I’ve been asking for this for a looong time.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Tonics-to-Outfits-It-s-time/first#post4789472
Adventures got plenty of hate in HoT. You’d think they would’ve learned. -_-
The main problems with them had been locking the mastery points behind them as a way to force or trick players into doing them, and the fact that they had buggy, untuned controls. And it didn’t help that many of them required other masteries in order to get gold/silver.
I’m hoping that the devs have had time to overcome the mistakes of the last iteration. Fingers crossed, and hopefully the new Adventures will be something remotely fun.
Said before, will say again:
Dragon Stand needs to come off the timer. I realize it’s supposed to be a big epic moment coming out of Tangled Depths and the Gerent meta, but it makes organizing a map into a lengthy, frustrating chore.
Don’t start the map timer until the camps are populated, and the rest will take care of itself. Locking the map to only those characters that completed it will keep it from being another AB-multiloot.
Either turn off tooltips in combat or a small delay (1 sec) before pop up would help.
And a restart button near all the scenes and battles that have achievements. Please. We’ve been asking for this since Season 2, and we’ve mostly been told “the tech is complicated.” I’m not sure I’m buying that.
Well, i’m gonna play the devil’s advocate and in this post here give my negative feedback on PoF demo. For now extremely early impressions, later on maybe more balanced onces.
1. Map is flat as pancake. No updrafts:// VERY BAD start.
Not so bad. When I hit the demo for HoT, I almost didn’t buy into it because I spent more time trying to get somewhere and trying to get to events, but the vertical design made it to trying to do more than fall to my death. Even just trying to return a Pact package to a rally point was an utterly futile flailing at the terrain.
FLAT GOOD! (Hopefully not TOO flat.)
Also, it’s the start of one zone. Patience. :\
Please add legendary foot trails to mounts. A lot of us work really hard for our legendary weapons and one of the perks of that is when walking we have pretty foot trails. With the introduction of mounts most of our travel time in the new zones will be on mounts and not on foot, so if we don’t have our foot trails added then it could make players not want to use mounts as much. From what can be seen in the beta raptors have regular foot trails like players do without legendary weapons. So would it really be that hard to tweak a little change?
Nah. Make Legendary mounts with their own footfalls! That’ll give people something to work toward.
You should not see WP’s videos.
That’s generally my policy.
