Please read the zillions of posts about the same issue…most of them are already merged in a huge thread called:
Lost Shores event disconnect solution? [merged threads]
Many people were as unlucky as you.
Raf,
I know it is a game and I did not complained about not getting a chest. The problem is the rewards are very valuable within the game market economy, many people got them more than once including today through the mail and many others got nothing due to circumstances alien to them.
Raf,
In this world (GW2) 1 percursor is a huge step forward towards the coolest items called Legendary. Thats why people want to have at least ONE chance of opening a Lost Shores event chest, after participating in it and having been not able (for several reasons) to open the reward chest.
The drops nerf must be analized together with the gems price raise. If you need gold how will you get it now?
Katre,
Every minute they let this issue to boilover will harm the players faith in this lovely game…
I heard that on WintersDay they will run a script to award the rewards…:)
Whips are awesome!
I want pistol/whip for my engineer!!!!!
Ursan,
I do not represent any of the companies you mentioned.
And I do not use any product made by any of them with the exception of Windows 7, that up until now has met my requirements and gave me no cause for complain.
Like with everything in life, time is the great equalizer.
alcopaul, exactly!
I wonder how long will take them to see the light…
Keiran,
Assuming a huge failure is very, very hard…I think they need time to find the courage to do it..:)
Then, everyone will get a chest and that will be it with this unfortunate event.
Ursan,
Good companies and good products last for a very long time…lets wait and see what will happen during the next 6 months.
Then you will get the answer to all your questions..:)
gillius, you missed a huge event…today they had a script running sending chests by mail to everyone that participated in Lost Shores final event and got no loot due to technical reasons.
If you want to know what happened read the hundreds of posts about it..:)
The other half will go to TESO in 2013..:)
Amra,
What concerns me are the 10% posts you talk about…
Ursan,
Small percentage of costumers voice their displeasure? My company fires an employee if ONE costumer complains rightly and, after evaluation, the employee does not live up to the company standards.
That´s how companies get rich and powerful.
Another thread for the Big Merge…:)
10 points Snores!
But they did not figured it out yet…
A company that wants to keep its costumers happy and avoids mistakes over mistakes because at the end of the day, 1 incompetent can jeopardize the jobs of all the others in the long run…
I hope the handling of this unfortunate affair opens the eyes of all players…
This whole affair, in some companies, would have caused some heads to roll…
Do not worry, one day they will merge all threads and people will not read anymore…all complains will stop..:)
2-handed Battleaxe
Crossbow
Gatling rifle/pistols
Yes.
In the company I work for, after today´s debacle people would have been fired already…
Their best is just not good enough…
Exactly….harm has been done and the script solution also failed. Better to give a chest to everyone who got none with the script than loosing more time and resources with this issue.
Many people got more than chest, many others got none…want them to check every account and take the extra chests from people who got more than 1 and give 1 to people who got none?
The amount of time and effort is just not worth it. Just reward the players who got no chest with the script and move forward. The game needs all time and resources to move forward.
Investigation process?!
What a waste of time and resources…
…and give a chest to whomever did not got one with your script today. Lets move forward and forget the last event. Your client base has reason, do not waste more time and resources checking who got what…just do it, send a chest by mail and stop this bad blood.
Thanks and best regards,
Red
taKeshyy,
You are right. Epic failures are as famous as epic successes..:)
At this point best thing for ANet to do is to give a chest to the remaining accounts not offered one by the script today and close this sad event once and for all.
After all they are not losing anything and with a lot of percursors around people will invest more money to get the mats to craft the legendary. Win-Win situation for everyone concerned.
Thanks and best regards,
Red
…as cool as some of the GS exotic skinns I have seen in game, with a cool glow?
I would like to know if there are any rifle/pistol skins with glow or any other cool effect.
Thank you for your feedback.
Best regards,
Red
Hello Tobias Trueflight,
Sorry, I was not clear. A vision for at least 10 years of game existence, not counting development and testing..:)
A vison is precise enough to provide strategic guidance but also flexible enough to allow for new tools and hardware change. You can even plan to have the introduction of a new game engine as a mid-life update but allowing the players to move everything to the new game version.
Long term planning and a balanced business model where the company gets the funds and the players get the fun…:)
Best regards,
Red
To create the so called perfect MMO you need a vision.
A vision for at least 10 years.
You need to plan the game to start with a core of things and keep evolving in all aspects. Players need to be part of that evolution.
The problem nowadays is that the cash cow model imperates. Develop a game for a few years with a relatively small team or in less time with a bigger team, with awesome PR generating enormous amounts of hype, launch it cashing in millions of games sold and maintaining it alive for 3 months until you reach break even plus a % of revenue and then decide if it is worthy to invest in the game or let it die slowly by having a reduced team and lots of automatic managing systems running it until servers closure.
Of course that to produce a good and enduring MMO you need firm funding and brave investors that share the vision and the belief in the game.
But right now, I feel the MMO community will play for 2 or 3 months almost all the games they can throw at us and the game companies are surfing that wave. When they feel the need to produce better and lasting games they will do it but it will be us that have to trigger that..:)
Best regards,
Red
Hello Ditton,
SWOTR costed more than that..:)
A 15$/month plus a very good gem shop would probably fund it.
Anyway we can even think about a more developed business model where you pay for what you play (I am not proposing the chinese system where you pay per time played although that not seems so bad to me but it is not easily understood by the western MMO community) for example:
10$/month for PvE content.
15$/month for PvE+WvW.
20$/month for PvE+WvW+PvP.
extra 5$/month to have a fixed a Magical Find bonus instead of having to wear dedicated gear for it.
extra 5$/month to have a fixed XP bonus.
In my opinion players should be able to pay for what they want to use.
Thanks and best regards,
Red
Hello all,
The best MMO ever will use extensively player designed content and will allow players to have a real impact in the world around them. Will be a permanently changeable world, with immense maps for exploration/adventure and permanent conflict areas directly impacting the players life in-game like not having access to cities/areas/dungeons/etc unless you conquer them.
Will allow players to be whatever they like, to develop the skills they want with no defined classes or weapons or gear. You can develop any skills and train in whatever weapon suits you and wear whatever armor gives you advantage for your chosen skills/weapon combat style.
Will have land, sea and aerial combat (on vessels, mounts or creatures).
The crafting system will allow you to create an infinity of armor and weapons skins (combining partial skins from a in-game library always in constant evolution) with adequate stats to balance the game.
Will have GM’s permanently in-game, playing the game alongside players and starting out a multitude of events with variable rewards, kicking bots and being part of the community. Why do we generally have permanent staff managing the forums and do not have permanent staff playing the game identified as GM’s? After all the game is the top priority.
This will demand a huge team of permanent staff for the game to be always fresh and continuously renewed.
The only way of doing it is to introduce a new model of business for MMO’s, that I forecast will be the future: Subscription + Gem shop.
With both options, the company will guarantee a constant revenue plus a variable revenue that hopefully (if the game keeps high standards) will fund my proposed model.
This model will balance the unique currency of any MMO: available TIME.
Thank you and best regards,
Red
Hello all,
ANet used the best weapon to fight bots: the price of gems is so high in gold that whomever needs gold just buy gems from ANet and trade for gold in-game.
Bots can not beat that..:)
Thanks and best regards,
Red
Uhu….the WoW comparison….:)
Luckily for GW2 a lot less people play WoW nowadays..:)
lordkrall, ANet staff could not answer it better…ahah.
gamingtito, the game is worth playing and there are many motives for you to enjoy the game, so keep playing and enjoying it. Concerning the forums, if you invest a bit of time reading them you will realize that there are a lot of people pointing out much needed improvements (not just the same group of people like lordkrall said). A lot of very good feedback has been given by the player base (even if through negative posts) and lets hope ANet listens. Anyway, you will find a lot of information about the game from the posts, positive or negative, so I think you should invest some time reading them.
Best regards,
Red
notebene, exactly!
Just to clarify…I love the game. Having said that, I do not love everything withing the game and BLTC is a good example. It could be used to make way more money for ANet and at the same time to please much more the players.
Using just the example of the skins, why are so few skins available? GW2 community seems to be crazy about characters looks..:)
Make new skins (weapons/armor) or if you dont have enough staff to produce them make a contest between the player community and award gold prizes for the best skins and introduce them as new items. You can even name the skins after its creator increasing the vanity value of designing a new skin. The staff only have to produce in-game skins based on players proposals.
Many other items could be introduced using players creativity…just listen to us..:)
Thank you and best regards,
Red

ThePain Train, I expressed my disappointment after all the hype of the announced Black Friday sale. Thats all.
Alex, in the case of GW2 it would be the smartest thing to do. After all the items sold at BLTC are virtual and any discount offered will not have any impact on the value chain of the product (short term).
Products that need to be manufactured are different from products created by the click of a mouse..:)
ThePain Train, I disagree when you say ANet is giving us stuff for nothing. They are selling us stuff for real cash. And no one is spitting in their faces. I just pointed out that this sale does not resemble any Black Friday sale I have been or heard of. IMO (am I entitled to express my opinion?) it is a very limited sale in number/worthiness of the articles.
XRTDiablo, you got it. Thats a pretty smart move from them, right? And at the same time they make some extra bucks..:)
lordkrall, actually I would be very interested to see statistics about the BLTC since day one.
I can accept that in the first 4 weeks when the game was brand new, BL keys and transmutation stones were the hot items. But now? Hummmm…..
I think it would be an awesome move from the company, sharing the data with us..:)
No lordkrall, it is pixels they sell but it is our time and money we spend..:)
Eddie Van Grog, no obscure reasons here. For sure you have been at a Black Friday sale and you know how it is. I was expecting something similar, thats all. My original post just points out the very limited number of articles on sale and their worthiness for most of the players, in my opinion (this is for lordkrall..:))
lordkrall, it matters because this sale is very limited daily and will only affect 20% of the items (during the 3 days) in the gem store when it should be done all at same time and include all the items with different % discounts.
Eddie Van Grog, stuff at 50% discount does not mean it is worth to buy…and it is you who brought the manifesto. To me, the manifesto is just a statement of good intentions.
