Today is the deadline for me.

ANet likes to announce and implement changes on Tuesdays. I will wait until the end of the day.

The bottom line is that people that not buy the HoT expansion now will only buy it, if at all, when it comes with discount before Christmas.

It is a big loss of revenue but ANet knows better, for sure.

Well, Colin post here was as generic and neutral as it can be…nothing can be assessed from it…I think he just showed up after a few thousand posts to give a proof of life…nothing else.

By ANet standards, they will do something when this thread reaches 500 pages…so, still a few weeks to go until anything changes…

After changing something, then ANet will face another 500 pages thread of people complaining that they have done everything with the released system and find it unfair that things have been made easier…

Procrastination is the worst skill for ANet to have…

I took a look at Metacritic a few moments ago and the expansion is only scoring at 6.9 right now. That’s pretty darn sad as GW2 was the best MMO on the market for years. I hate seeing the HP issue tearing down such a good game.

I wish Anet would fix this and turn the expansion back to the core game of no grinding/casual friendly.

Well, the HoT expansion is scoring 6.9 because a lot of shills have been giving 10 to it for the last hours…go read the reviews and you will undertsand what I am talking about.

Heres a Relink to my Feedback Thread with a nearly douzen of proposed improvements, that I think would make HoT a much better player experience for everybody
(Guaranteed 100% complain free and constructive, ignore the little bit emotion (words like stupid) in the suggestions ^^, because its just my personal opinion about some things I dislike xD)

Heres so far my Feedback after playing the first days about some things I would like to see changed/improved:

1) Reduce the Map Gating, the new Maps totally remind me every few hundred steps on the bad Map Design from Guild Wars Factions, where you hit on closed Gates that stop you to fully explore the Map as you like when you like.
it makes it impossible for you to reach the places that you want to reach, if the Map is empty and no butt is doing the required events at all to get the gates open, or you are forced to wait xx minutes, until finally the event starts that gets you the stupid gates open, so that you always have to hope, that you are on the right time on and then at the right place, just to get the map explore.
Add a Mastery if it must be, which allows it players to circumvent these stupid gates..
Example: Add under Nuhoch Lore something, that gives us the strength or so to break through those thorn gates, or to jump/climb over them, whatever, or add more Nuhoch Wallows

2) Remove the silly Gating from Adventures, its totally annoying that you can#t play the adventures when you like it, only because some silly events haven#t been made, this brigns us again into the idiotic situation, that you can#t do nothign in the maps, if the maps are too empty and theres no zerg there to get the required events done, just so that you get a brief while to be able to play the adventures..
Here again, add if it must be a mastery, that makes it possible to play all the adventures you want, whenever you want through puttign you into an own instance or so

3) Remove the Elite Specialization Gating. People should be able to learn right from the start with the like 200+ Hero points that you have over from fully exploring Tyria enough to start HoT right there with the Specialization.
The Hero Points that you collect with HoT should be helpful then for when the next Set of Elite Specializations comes, or add somethign Elite Specialization unique you can get with HoT, like for example Skill Skins for your E specs, that you can get for your E Specs Skill Skins that change the look of your vanilla game skills, like for example a Reaper gettign Skill Skins through Hero ponts for their Minions to be able to change how their summoned Minions look like.

4) Make the Sublime Armors more defensive, they receive way too much damage from the little Mordrem enemies in Tarir, where they are supposed to be the superior answer agaisnt the Modrem. Also make their def agaisnt CC much stronger.
When you get that attack that gives you all conditions, you are basically killed.
The Damage against the super large mordrem should be also drastically increased, it takes WAY too long (or the hp of those enemies drastically reduced) to just kill 1 single of these monsters…

5) Remove Timers from Hero Point Challenges, summoned HP enemies should stay until someone comes and defeats them and not disapear after like 5 minutes or so

6) Better show the Player on the Map, when hovering over Hero Points, Mastery Points ect. when they require specific Masteries first to be able to reach them… theres so freakign many points in the game from the start on, where you can’t reach them, until you have not learned first some specific masteries .
Example:

Verdant Brink: Mastery Point Y
- Hover over the Symbol:
- See the Info:

  • Requires the Ability to use Jump Mushrooms
  • Requires the Ability to use Nuhoch Wallows
  • Requires the Ability to use Leyline Gliding

If I woudl get to see that valuable info by hoverign ovwer the points, then I wpould at least know, which points I should explore, and where I woudl just waste my time, as long I haven’t learned the required Masteries to reach those points in the map.

7) Add more ways to gather Exp for Masteries. as they turn out to be quickly very grindy by the proportional increasign amounts of Exp that you need…
Events alone become quickly too slow to get enough without having ways to increase your Exp, so following changes should be done to help us out here:

  • Add unique Maguuma Buff Items to the Lore Vendors which can be used only in Maguuma HoT maps that have the following Effects:

Food: 1hour: Increases All Stats by +50, Increases Event Exp by 50% Stacks by every 20% of Event Participation, Max Stack 10
Potion: 1Hour: Increases All Stats by +50, Gain a Kill Stack, which increases per killed Mordrem received Kill Exp by +0,5%. Max Stack: Infinite
Reinforcements New Maguuma unique Third and Fourth Buff you can have active together with otion and Food, with that you temporarely improve your Weapons and Armors ang get temporary buff effects, called W-Reinforce and A-Reinforce by going to an anvil once you have the mastery for that to reinforce your equipment.

A-Reinforce: 1 Hour. Receive 20% Lesser Damage from all Mordrem Sources of Damage.
Increases gained Exp from Reviving and Gathering by 50% per Stack: Max Stack: 10

W-Reinforce: 1 Hour. Deal 20% Higher Damage against Mordrem from all Sources of your Damage Dealing.
Increases gained Exp from successful Hero Point Challenge Battles by 50% per Kill Stack: Max Stack: 10

Add Shrines of Ameyalli to which you can do get for Gold/Map Currency various different Map Buffs, once you have Itzel Lore high enough to pray to Ameyalli.
Each active Ameyalli Shrine Buff should increase the Base Exp from Events by 10%
Do the something similar for the Sublime in Auric Basin, and Nuhoch in the 3rd map

8) Add Waypoints near the Guild Initiative NPCs in the Maguuma Maps that stand in front of the Guild Hall entries, so that you can reach them quickly, once explorign the pat of the maps where they are, so that you can reach those places quicke,r without havign to travel again through the whole map first to get back to those points!!

9) Scale the Hero Point Challenges up and down based on the amount of players that are there at the moment of activation and over the course of the battles.
Can’t be, that all those challenges are spawning permanently as Champion Bosses with the intentent, that you have to fight them as a large group, just to be able to deafet them in time. This is again a stupid mechanic, that absolutely doesn’t work for pplayers in EMPTY MAPS which just want to get these points done, whenever they like and not only, when you have the luck to be on at the right time and be at the right time at the right spot, when enough players are there (AND WILLING) to help you out with thoese hero points, because thats also somethign that WILL BECOME LESSER and lesser, once people got all their HP, people become less helpful as they will do other things that benefit them more, than to waste time with helping others to get their HPs

10) Add Please glidign to the WvW Desert WvW Maps!! as a WvW Trait you can spent Rank points for, letting it basically work there like the Glidign Mastery, but just in ranks points spent… the map have alot of spots where you can fall very deep and where its perfect to have gliding to get safe down … I know people might say Gliding is for HoT only, but this must not be the case, if Anet just adds the abiliy to glide for the WvW desert map only as part of the Rank Point trait system with 5 ranks costing say a total of 300 rank points to max it out. WvW needs finally alot more thinks to spend rank points on, especially now where they removed with Hot practically the usage of over 200 rank points by removign the two WvW player buffs for killing npcs that gave more health and power… let that wind shrine buff give then somethign else as effect than getting no fall damage….

11) I don't know if its planned already or not, but those Glint Egg Skills, please add them as Mastery later so that we can improve this way our Gliding. Absolutely need that skill 2 especially to be able to Glide faster, literally fly for a moment quickly straight without losing height and skill 1 to be able to jump up from the ground higher to get more height for gliding that from a normal jump..hopefuly its some kind of hidden Glint's Might Mastery or so ^^

Awesome feedback!!

Well done!

The core GW2 had 1 feature that was simply freaking awesome: You choose your own path towards glory.

I leveled chars by doing every heart on the way, by running with boss trains, by crafting, by WvWing since lvl 1, etc…

I always had the choice of doing it the way I want.

Not anymore with HoT. GW2 became another grindy MMO, similar to so many around…

ANet please keep the players options open…let players chose their path to glory.

Hey folks,

Lots of passionate feedback and discussion in here on either side, and a friendly reminder that constructive feedback helps us make better games (please do keep it constructive!) We don’t always get every detail perfect the first time, but I like to think one of our strengths is we’re always open to and listening to feedback from our community and making good decisions based on that feedback.

Ultimately, we’re thrilled with the parts of HoT everyone is enjoying. Your passion is awesome, and it’s part of why we all love creating this game. In particular, in game we’ve seen a really positive reaction to the game from folks who are busy playing, which has been really cool to see.

While we never like to rush and make snap decisions, in particular with a game that’s basically been out less than three days; I think there are some fair points in here for us to discuss. Much like other feedback about HoT, we’ll be discussing this as well!

Thanks again!

Thanks for the post.

Ultimately is your job and the time and money we invested in this game that can be lost due to slow reaction from ANet concerning all the HoT issues.

The core GW2 allowed players to reach the aim through several different approaches as they see fit within their gaming tastes.

HoT does not give the player any control over the path they want to follow…

User Tulki on Reddit has an incredible write up on this whole HoT debacle:

“I’m actually starting to agree with peoples’ sentiments. I love the new stuff that was added to the game. Elite specs are really cool, the jungle zones are ridiculously huge and fun to glide through, the music is fantastic, and the story is actually surprisingly well-paced and isn’t afraid to pull out dire character consequences. Many of the story steps are the kind of things that would make this subreddit explode if they were released as part of the living world chapters, it’s just that they’re not as talked about now because it was chunked out in bulk so there’s more to talk about.
HOWEVER. Everything is gated. Hard. ArenaNet is falling back on their pre-expansion ways of making everything a confusing chore, which is something I was hoping they would NOT do seeing as the expansion is already PAID.

I can’t play my elite spec properly until I’ve already completed 50-100% of the jungle including all masteries that gate those hero challenges, and some of them absolutely require groups. To make matters worse, some elite specs require pretty radical stat shifts from the previous meta, which are made more expensive by how ascended gear was changed to require more materials. Time-gated materials. I don’t think I’m ever going to use Scrapper in any serious capacity because I simply don’t have time to invest in the gear.

I have to grind mindlessly for masteries. In the case of language masteries I’m grinding to have the opportunity to grind to purchase items, as if this is supposed to make me feel accomplished.

Why are the new stat recipes not discovered in crafting? Why do they require random drops? Again, this was a paid expansion. I don’t understand why the new mechanics are gated to extremes I’d expect from a free game. I honestly expected things to work in a smooth, easy-to-understand way as everything in the base game did.
Why are there so many keys / baubles / crafting materials that don’t go into the wallet or material bank?

The masteries for precursor crafting require grinding for experience to gain the ability to dump ludicrous amounts of gold into an item. Turns out the epic journey to craft a coveted precursor is going somewhere and pressing ‘F’ and then running the Silverwastes and selling materials until you can craft it.

Why the hell do I have to pay 15g to unlock the PvP reward track for a mist champion which I then have to earn my way through to actually get the mist champion? Why are ALL of the new sigils, runes and amulets locked behind gold paywalls in PvP? There is no longer a level playing field, and I cannot consider PvP to be competitive any more. Seriously. Check out the prices yourself. If you want all options in PvP it costs an absolute kitten-ton.

Unfortunately, the systems in this expansion are tedious enough to make me feel like this is a free-to-play expansion, even though that’s not the case.
And, here is my biggest concern.
This type of expansion model will kill the game.

Suppose GW2’s second expansion comes out. It adds a new region, and a new elite spec to each profession. It adds a whole bunch of masteries. The masteries require kitten tons of experience, and the new elite spec requires a kitten ton of hero points, again. It also adds new options in PvP… except they all cost insane amounts of gold.
Do you think a new player will actually stay when they realize they cannot catch up to existing players? I honestly would not stay if I knew I had to grind through two regions the size of Magus Falls in order to have both of my elite specs.

The sad thing I realized is that I actually would rather the game expanded the level cap including having higher stat gear instead of gating content the way it’s doing now. At least that way would be less hostile to new players and not as grindy. This is something I would have been violently against before launch, but seeing how hard they’re trying to stop players from progressing actually makes me prefer gating behind levels and gear treadmills. Ouch.

I expected the game to be a large up-front payment for a large chunk of up-front, uninhibited content. What it actually is is a large up-front payment for the opportunity to consume tiny bites of a large chunk of content. If masteries required only mastery points and each Maguuma hero challenge was worth a single point and the elite spec cost the same as a regular spec + regular skill line, I would be totally satisfied with the amount of content that exists in the expansion. So all this gating just makes the game worse. Just make the masteries require only mastery points… even if it means they cost more each. At least then the progression becomes about overcoming difficult challenges, not overcoming easy content repeatedly for hours."

Awesome review!

If ANet takes more than 1 week to fix the Hero points requirements a lot of players will give up on GW2.

As ANet knows better than us, once you lose the big hype train there is nothing to do…remember FF XIV.

It is a pitty that the HoT expansion can be ruined by just 1 aspect of the game, 1 wrong decision made by the wrong person at the wrong time.

1 week, please make it happen ANet!

I’d rather them take a month to get the right solution than to have 4 weeks worth of solutions until they get to the right solution. Or a buggy solution because they rushed it that stops everyone’s progression instead of it just being a slow progression.

Don’t get me wrong, I do think the system needs changing. But I’d rather the best fix than any fix. They do need to keep us posted and release more information than usual if the fix isn’t a quick one.

4 weeks is an eternity for a newly released MMO expansion.

The amount of negative feedback produced during 4 weeks all around the Web will completely undermine ANet future efforts to save HoT.

If I was ANet I would immediately greatly reduce the hero points requirements and then work with a bit more time in other less positive aspects of the game.

Another thing to consider: The contents of the 3 available expansion packs of HoT.

I think that adding 4000 gems to the most expensive pack is a bit careless. Why buying the 99.99 pack just to have 4000 gems? We can buy gems anytime…

The launch of HoT should have unique items that appeal to all players besides the miniatures, guild decorations, glider skin and finisher (personally I never cared for any of these items in-game).

Why not offer a unique outfit and a unique weapon skin to celebrate the launch of HoT?

All GW2 players love awesome outfits and weapon skins (we spend millions buying them from the BLTC) but not that many are into miniatures and guild halls decorations or finishers…

To be honest I feel that the GW2 player base has been misled into pre-ordering an expansion completely different from the several tests carried out before release.

Does not seem an honest approach to ANet costumers…

We need this to be noticed by the devs.

Server Population Status: 2015

The sad truth is that when 1 low population server is paired with 2 other stronger servers, the players of the weaker server are just mobs content to be farmed by the other 2 stronger servers.

They keep being chased and killed providing drops, XP, badges, WvW XP, etc to the stronger servers.

That is why weak servers almost do not show up at WvW. When weaker servers do not show up at WvW, the stronger servers players get much less rewards.

Why wouldn't this idea work for WvW

Everyone can have characters in any order so your guild can decide what order to represent any time and get all friends playing together.

If a Commander can not speak the language of the majority of his troops then he should not be a Commander at that moment.

It is really a simple and clean idea. The best.

A noob ranger yes…

Then rangers do what they know better…they run and escape.

Ranger is easy mode. Is good to relax in WvW.

Untill you face someone that knows how to counter you easily.

Not happening when you have more mobility than the ranger does.

How do I create a zerg with commander?

RedBaron.6058

A successful Commander avoids enemy zergs or protacted sieges..he goes for the fast objective conquest and only gives battle when numbers are on his side.

Winning all the time is the secret.

A defeat always lead some people to logoff. Continuous victories are addictive and people never logoff…they phone to work and call for a sick day to keep playing.

I can't believe Tequatl can fly

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Actually Tequatl suffers from severe bloating and flatulence due to the enormous amount of bacteria inside its intestines (if you stay under its breath you know what I am talking about). If you watch Tequatl closely you will notice that its flatulence provides propulsion and allows it to fly, overcoming its excessive size and mass.

Everything is very easy to fix.

People can group by country/language, use country/language TS channel, etc.

If one side/order reaches max number then people can only join the other 2 orders per map.

And is it not server based but character based…you join the order that your character belongs to. All servers will feed the system at once. There is no bandwagoning.

Actually the whole process would be self-regulating and that is why is such a good idea.

Concerning the different EU languages, we can have different chapters inside the same order…like in real life.

Players can organize themselves by language, country, etc….but they still represent an order.

Simple and clean.

We have something like that, it is called guilds :P What i wrote about was random leading. Let’s say that German speaking comm want to lead, but majority is English speaking, yet he speaks German only, what will happen? Also what to do with other problem that I described in previous comment? I mean all servers bandwagoning 1 side where SFR comunity is? It would be easy win for them so why not do it? We have such situation with Overgrown at EoTM atm. and it is the point od maaaaaany posts here at this subforum.
