Concerning the different EU languages, we can have different chapters inside the same order…like in real life.

Players can organize themselves by language, country, etc….but they still represent an order.

Simple and clean.

RedBaron.6058

Great idea!!!

Really easy to implement and solve the problem of unpopulated servers vs high population servers.

Everyone can have chars belonging to any of the 3 orders in the same account, so people just log with the char they feel they want to play with.

WvW is fun when all sides are balanced. When sides are unbalanced is just PvE with real players being the content and replacing mobs as canon fodder.

In Guild Wars 2 there are three orders. Each character will join one of these orders at the last chapter of their level 30 personal story. This choice is permanent and determines a significant portion of the higher level parts of the story. Each of the orders has their own philosophies about what tactics will ultimately defeat the dragons. While they are rivals at times, they recognize that protecting Tyria is the most important goal which they each share.

my idea connects this to WvW and each order has a color

Durmand Priory: Blue
Order of Whispers: Green
Vigil: Red

this ties WvW to your personal story directly and you can change what Orders you fight against just by changing to a toon that picked whatever Order in the storyline.

of course Anet would have to do the overflow thing, but being able to choose what order (or color) you fight for as a contest keeps the game a game and not all of this segregation that some people want to hold onto.

and remember WvW is in the Mists a “Proto-reality” if you will….not Reality as we know it

some other thoughts..
maybe transfer costs are tied to switching orders which doesn’t cost money but makes you have to start a new storyline
OR make it 100 gold to bribe the order you want to join to overlook the requirement set in the storylines.

anyways this ties WvW back to the game where it should be and not some separate game-mode, and hence brings back the FUN

so let’s brainstorm on why this wouldn’t work as per the subject.

OR if ANET could step in and just shoot the idea down right away so we don’t waste time on something that will never even come close to happening.

Anyone else ONLY play humans?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Why play humans when Norn exists?

Everything looks better on Norn from armor to weapons. Norn is just a big human..:)

For the most part, I lack a proper imagination when it comes to MMOs. I am a human male, so I struggle to identify in a game with anything other than a human male. My character’s looks very rarely deviate from my own. I don’t RP or anything like that, but for some reason I just feel like my avatar should be as close to me as I can get. Almost like “If I were born into this world, I’d probably still be some version of me” sort of thing.

Any other unimaginative wierdos like me out there? =D

Icon change for the commander was suggested long before the color change was even implemented. Most of the time people suggested color change, icon change went along with it. We are lucky to even get colors, I have no hope for icons.

Though I have never seen your particular type of icons represented, those are actually very good and logical. They make instant sense. Well except the scout one that can be considered a fish :p

Just my 2 cents.

All professions are good for all types of WvW (Zerg, 1 v 1, small group, roaming) if you master them.

If you want to start WvW and have doubts which profession to chose here they are from easiest to hardest to master:

Warrior
Guardian
Necromancer
Ranger
Elementalist
Thief
Engineer
Mesmer

Hero Points & old characters: breach of trust

RedBaron.6058

Well, the bottom line is that I have 7 x lvl 80 chars that can do anything right now in the game (they were leveled through different methods in PvE, WvW and crafting).

From what I understand, in HoT I will need to get hero points to get all the skills I need in all the chars (specially the ones I leveled through crafting). This means that my now fully functional chars will be nerfed with the release of HoT.

I am really surprised that ANet thinks this is a fair system.

To be honest, I hate leveling chars to lvl 80. What I like in this game is the high-end content and I do not want to spend hours and hours going through some hero challenges to get again the chars I have now, with all the skills unlocked. Also, most of my 13 skills were acquired by buying the book with skill points and gold. Will I be refunded?

HoT seems grim to me…

Double supplies carry capacity
Permanent +33% running speed
-10% damage taken
+10% damage done
3 stacks of stability refreshed every 60 seconds (non stackable except with other skills)

Open raid content doesn't work!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

RedBaron.6058

I completely disagree with the OP.

Open World Big Bosses are a must. You just neet to be patient and let most of the players learn the new bosses mechanics.

Tequatl was very hard when it was revamped and now is just farmed endlessly…I do it everyday with several characters even in overflows.

The Marionette is easier and I already did it (in an overflow actually) but for what I see the main servers succeed most of the times, the failures happen more on overflows. But with time it will turn into another farming business…

The Wurm is a bit more difficult because all 3 heads need to be finished within 1 minute. This requires more coordination but with time we will do it…as soon as the groups learn to watch the 3 wurms health bars displayed and dps accordingly.

I understand that to some players GW2 is the most important thing in life but the vast majority of the player base has a normal life. Having the opportunity of killing the Big Bosses in the open world within huge zergs it is the only way for most of us.

Instead of complaining you should post a link or write a guide with the basic guidelines to do both new bosses.

R.

WvW - low population - merging servers

in WvW

Posted by: RedBaron.6058

RedBaron.6058

Hello all,

I was an early player of GW2 but left the game after 4 months. I returned 10 months later and was pleasantly surprised by the way ANet addressed many of the issues that made me leave the game earlier (WvW mechanics, drops and rewards, living world events, better TP offers, guesting to other servers, etc).

Presently I think that WvW server population unbalance is the only game break issue. After the current WvW season many players will transfer to more populated servers because right now it is just pure zerg massacre of the low populated servers. The already low populated servers will lose a lot of players and will become ghost servers leading to server merging.

The focus of WvW should change from server vs server to grouped servers vs grouped servers with similar total population. Guild achievements during WvW should receive more rewards to emphasize the Guild Wars character of the game and individual achievements should also be better.

What I propose is:

1. Create a dedicated WvW server based on a regular server design (with all the 27 maps plus dungeons) with the current overflow system;

2. Add to the regular server design all the existing WvW buildings and objectives adapted to the geography of each individual map (dungeons included but adapted to the exiguous space of the dungeons);

3. Use the 6 major cities to create something like 6 Super Stone Mists castles;

4. Keep the existing 4 WvW maps plus the new one Edge of the Mists;

5. Every week, create a new match up of servers mixing the strongest with the weakest in 3 opposing sides with very similar overall population. 24 NA servers = 3 teams of 8, 27 EU servers = 3 teams of 9;

6. Create rewards for guild influence in the outcome of the wars considering number and importance of objectives held and time they held them, number of enemies killed, etc;

7. Improve the current individual rewards in accordance with the impact of the individual in the war outcome;

8. Guild players will receive guild and individual rewards, solo players will receive just individual rewards;

9. Change the Leaderboards from World vs World to Guild vs Guild according to the guilds achievements during war;

10. Create a Leaderboard for individual achievements during WvW.

These are my 2 cents.

All feedback welcome.

Best regards,

Red

WvW Season 1 - Low population servers

in WvW

Posted by: RedBaron.6058

RedBaron.6058

Hello all,

With the introduction of WvW Season 1 and its reward chests related with server performance, I think that when this season finishes a lot of players from low population servers will transfer to high population servers.

Doing WvW in a low population server is very hard, we are always the underdog and most of the time we just feed the huge zerg of higher population servers.

Playing in a high population server is like a dream. Just follow the zerg and you get a lot of kills, a lot of WXP, advance in the ranks faster, get a lot of bags, a lot of drops, a lot of badges, alot of everything so you can equip your chars very fast and sell what you do not use.

The only drawback of high population servers is the waiting time to get in WvW during peak hours.

Having said that, I think ANet needs to rethink the WvW system trying to rebalance the server population differences.

The “Outnumbered” buff was a nice move but I think we need a bit more. When a server gets the “Outnumbered” buff on a specific map it should also get another buff as per my suggestion:

“Desperate Resistance” – Triggered by “Outnumbered” plus less than 33% of control points on a specific map. Fades off when “Outnumbered” disappears or the server has more than 66% of control points on a specific map. Only applicable to the server with less total points of the 3 competing servers.

Buffs:
permanent +33% movement speed
+10% in all Primary Attributes (Power, Precision, Toughness and Vitality)
Outpost upgrades decreased by -33% of needed supply plus construction times +33% faster.

These are my 2 cents but I am pretty sure that most of you can contribute with more ideas to balance the server population differences in WvW.

All feedback welcome.

Thank you and best regards,

Red
