lordkrall, I thought the idea of a Black Friday sale was to interest the vast majority of potential costumers, am I wrong?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Friday_
Thank you and best regards,
Red
No lordkrall, no one is forcing us to buy from the gem store but the offers should be interesting and not useless, after all it is in their interest that we buy, right?
Yamiino, eheheh, I know what you mean…darkness is coming over us in a female form…be afraid, be very afraid..:)
Cod Eye, I have 75 fine transmutations stones unused..:)
Having said that, most probably their drop rate from chests etc will be nerfed…>:).
Yamiino, if they offered the sales at same time people could plan and buy gems sensibly considering their needs. Like this people tend to buy at least 1 item from every batch of 3 offers everyday.
Smart business, thats all.
Yes, transmutation stones I can understand but wasting $20 on 25 keys is just a waste. I speak from personal previous experience.
Hello lordkrall,
They are trying to sell the items that nobody buys anyway. They are not offering anything.
Thanks and best regards,
Red
Hello Yamiino,
Why not having all the planned items at sale at same time?
Maybe they want us to keep wasting gems with new options everyday instead of assessing all offers at same time and plan accordingly?
Thanks and best regards,
Red
Hello all,
Of the 44 items selling at BLTC we have 3 special offers.
That is about 7% of the products are on sale. Not my idea of a Black Friday..:(
IMO, from the 3 products on sale, only the Fine transmutation Stones can have some value to players that change looks a lot. The rest is kind of useless.
Well, another disappointment.
Thank you and best regards,
Red
Well, Chris Whiteside comments on the Lost Shores Event and the future is a pretty standard PR reply after a major blunder.
Although pointing the positive and acknowledging the negative aspects, you gloss the positive and understate the negative. Then you throw a bone to distract the costumers and raise expectations by talking about future features. Basically you focus the attention of the costumers on what is coming, trying to defuse the present state of affairs.
Example:
“We are very excited about releasing the new model of XXXX car. Its new engine with YYY Hp and a top speed of ZZZ km per hour together with the new design lines represent a major effort from our company to reach costumers expectations.
We are very excited about this model as are many of our costumers. Many of you already tested it and could be thrilled about the feeling of driving such a powerful car.
We are aware of some minor issues with the new model that could have worked better (the engine fails many times, the brakes do not brake, the noise inside the kittenpit is unbearable and the suspension is very unsafe) but based on your feedback we are working in solving these annoyances.
We want to extend a huge thank you to all the test drivers that spent their time driving this new model and we learned a great deal about how to make cars a bit better.
We take this opportunity to point out our plans for future improvements of our model:
1. The seat heating system will have added a scent chosen by the costumer;
2. Costumers will be able to choose the painting scheme;
3. More variations of the model will be released;
4. We promise to fix the engine problems;
5. We will improve the breaks;
6. We will be pushing for our car to enter the Formula 3 championship;
7. We will build even more versions of this car in the furure.
We wish an Happy Thanksgiving and hope to find you in the road at the wheel of our new model (even if stopped by the roadside with a minor breakdown)."
Thank you and best regards,
Red
Ziazis and Krulz,
Thank you very much for the information. I confess that I am amazed how far people can go for a unique skin..:)
Best regards,
Red
Just to support my theory, please remember that there are a lot of newbies that started to play last weekend and got percursors they sold for hundreds of gold and probably do not know that only some exotics are percursors. Finding a weapon in TP selling for hundreds of gold can create in them the illusion they are getting a special weapon like the percursor they sold.
It looks a bit fishy to me..:)
Hello Ziazis,
I can understand a very rare exotic to be bought for, lets say, 50 gold for its looks but more than that is just a waste of money.
I give you an example: right now there are 2 Aether short bows in the TP, one selling for 450 gold and the other for 508 gold. On the buyers side, there are several offers with the highest at 200 gold and the second at 95 gold and after that coming down from 14 to 1 gold.
These type of prices seem crazy to me unless someone is playing the TP making both sell and buy offers to manipulate the market.
What do you think?
Thanks and best regards,
Red
I thought that the named exotic weapons were nothing else than maybe a cool skin. Precursors I can understand why they are so expensive because they are used to craft legendaries but named exotics are just equal to all exotics of the same type (concerning stats).
Can someone enlighten me?
Thanks and best regards,
Red
Hello Greiwulf,
A 10% margin would be enough to avoid short term speculation. Anyway, in the long term I think its a legitimate investment of your hard earned gold to buy gems and then trade them much later for a bit of revenue.
Thanks and best regards,
Red
Thank you Astrea,
It seems to me that the 30% difference kind of induces players to buy gems with real cash to get gold or items from the shop instead of getting gems with in-game gold.
I could understand a 10% difference but 30% seems a bit excessive.
Thank you and best regards,
Red
And I would love to see the algorithm. It would be a very transparent measure for all players.
Hello Xpiher,
I did not said it was a free market concerning gems. I am trying to understand why the gems value keeps raising steadily like 1 silver per day.
Thanks and best regards,
Red
From my analysis to the market behaviour I am feeling that the gem raising value is a lure for players to buy them with real cash, trade them for gold and then get all the gear/items they need from TP and do not have time to farm for (I noticed in the last 3/4 weeks a sharp reduction in drops while doing Orr with MF full gear. No more exotics – zero! – and the rares drop rate was reduced like 600% to 800%).
In my case, opposite to the past, my daily 3 hours of Orr farming can not support anymore my gold needs to fund WvWvW and gear for my main and alts.
Also, the drop rate in Lost Shores is abysmal.
The slow increase in gems value does not over inflate (in the short term) the prices of gear/items sold by players through TP, so in the end the amount of gems sold against real cash increases a lot.

Just an insight, I thought i’d invest in gems and bought 20g worth of gems, but when I went to see the value of them gems at the same transfer rate they were only worth 14g 76s. so wasnt a good way to make gold. I’m not convinced its based on supply and demand and think its totally controlled by Anet.
Hello Cod Eye,
Thats is exactly what I am trying to figure out. These rate fluctuations between gems x gold seem a bit awkward to me.
It is why I want to understand the model.
Thank you and best regards,
Red
They said not so long ago that if you get gems with ingame gold, the rate goes up.
If some one purchuase gems with real life money, the rate goes down.As easy as that.
So Norax,
You mean that the presently raising gems value in gold means more and more people are buying gems with ingame gold and not buying as many gems with real cash?
I noticed that the average price for 100 gems during last week raised from 70 silver to 76 silver (Blacktide server).
Thank you and best regards,
Red
The gem shop in GW2 looks like an undergraduate work for his/her Gaming Design course.
Almost everything is useless and ugly, only thing I buy is some karma boosters to compensate for my lack of time.
It is a pitty because the gem shop could provide a huge income to ANet and, at same time, please the gamers. But no, the motto seems to be: “…lets sell lottery chests and that will be enough to keep the them occupied..”.
Well, luckily we live in a world where we have other options when we are not happy with a product.
Best regards,
Red
Hello all,
Can you please confirm that the exchange rate between gems and gold is purely based on the supply and demand model?
If so, in my understanding (please correct me if I am wrong):
1. Gems value raises with gems demand? (players increase the gems buying with gold);
and
2. Gold value raises with gold demand? (players increase the gems trading for gold).
And how does the direct buying of gems with real cash affects this model?
Thank you in advance for your feedback.
Best regards,
Red
Sorry but Real Life is much less important than a MMO that you might not be playing in a few months/years.
If not, how do you explain all the excuses people find to miss work, do not pick wife/kids, cancel appointments and pretend to be sick just to be ready for a game event?!?!?!?
The difference is that now people know what is a stake and will prepare, will stop the permanent downloads they have eating most of bandwidth, arrange their personal agenda to be present, defragment the pc, update the pc drivers, run only the game and close the other 20 windows open in a multitude of different pages pumping flash adverts.
Doing something is better than doing nothing, in this case…it is what I call a second chance.
Thats all.
Hello all,
Can we just stop complaining about the last event?
Lets ask for 1 more replay at a set time and thats it. Enough. Now people know where the event starts and what to do. Even if people crash, thats bad luck and lets not speak again about it. Move forward.
Thanks and best regards,
Red
Asking to remove rewards is similar to asking to bring everyone to level 1 and start all over again because some people did not have the time to invest in the game as some others have or because some people get good drops and others dont.
Well, I criticized ANet about the handling of this event but I confess that now I am feeling sorry for the amount of ____ they have to endure every day..:)
Best regards,
Red
Hello all,
I just discovered that Lionguard Lyns only offers the trade option on her dialogue menu if YOU have commendations in your inventory!
I had my commendations in bank and I could not access the option to trade commendations, so I got some from bank and Bam!….I got the trade menu from Lionguard Lyns.
Thank you and best regards,
Red
A lot of the people who got percursors did not sell them because they want to keep it for themselves and also because they realized the market would be flooded and price would drop, so they wait for better selling prices.
I think much more percursor weapons dropped last night.
I would risk a 10% drop rate considering the number of guys that linked their percursors from chest after we killed Ancient Karka compared to our zerg numbers.
Thanks and best regards,
Red
Yes….running around to escape overpowered mobs that kill you very fast and getting absolutely no drops…this is a kind of new masochist therapy. Enjoy.
OMG this is getting out of hand…now people are jealous about the rewards other people got instead of being disappointed for not being able to play the event as it was planned…
Well, that player had the previous work to level 5 characters to the level range that gives lvl 80 rewards from the chest…
Please do not worry…NCSOFT is developing your new MMO…Lineage Eternal…google it and enjoy..:)
Best regards,
Red
Can we have functioning wheels in all siege weapons, to have mobility even if it is very slow mobility?
Can we have Siege Towers (also mobile) to climb up the walls?
I think these 2 changes can make WvWvW even more interesting.
Thank you and best regards,
Red
Well, lets see what happens…I hope everyone gets a chance to open a chest..:)
Best regards,
Red
…considering the amount of things that went badly and the number of player posts complaining.
Thanks and best regards,
Red
After all that happened (read the zillions posts, merged in huge threads), running the last event once again at an annouced time would be the right thing to do.
Thanks and best regards,
Red
Well, this is the cherry on top of the ice cream…something needs to be done to give the opportunity once again to complete the last event and get the rewards.
Best regards,
Red
…the items bought with commendations since yesterday at around 18:00 CET in Blacktide. Were do we use our commendations?
Thanks and best regards,
Red
The final event was awesome…2 hours of intense fighting during a coreographed event…very good…the lag was ok, a lot of mobs we killed we couldnt see but the game kept running.
The rewards were much better than we are used to, so it was a success.
But all the other things that went badly during the weekend need to be addressed.
One more thing: its obvious for everyone that the loot in the new map is broken. People returned to Plinx event chain even with the longer respawn…this speaks for itself. I spent hours in the new map and only got nothing. At Orr I get a lot of loot.
Thanks and best regards,
Red
Both Noll and Canach are fixed now.
Agree..:). The Colossus is an awesome mini-dungeon.
Lions Arch………..
It works..:)
use the field guides and you will get loads of commendations…my bank is full of 250 stacks now..:)
In Blacktide, Canach fights but we dont get any mail. Bugged.
1. Replay the Lions Arch mob attack every night at same time for 1 week;
2. Leave the quest chain open for 1 week;
3. FoTM is good like that;
4. Decrease prices of items bought with Commendations or increase Commendations rewards;
5. Open the new map today and lets see what will happens;
6. Next weekend on Sunday, do the closing event that was planned for tomorrow.
Thanks and best regards,
Red
Well, after going to sleep in disgust with the event last night I wake up this morning and after logging got an update!
My hopes raised and went to Noll. Well, he is there now (last night he disappered) but do not interact with players and just remains there talking his npc dialogue over and over again.
Noll is still bugged….well, this event is keeping its mediocre record all through the weekend.
Best regards,
Red
