Im unsure how often npcs log out of game and eat cheerios

A+ comment.

To contribute, the meta for pve is cheesy and really should be changing so I wouldn’t worry to much. Since you did bring PvP into this I will say that it should also be fine there, with good teammates and smart actions you should be able to set up for some massive blows. However of course I can’t be sure until it comes out, and that also means you can’t be sure. So relax, a beta will probably happen and then you can judge it, don’t overreact though if it is the beta like revs did, it’s a beta. If you want to see the Necro do well you want to participate when they beta test these elite specs and give back constructive criticism.

So weapon swap..

in Revenant

Posted by: Riranor.6315

Riranor.6315

So, a Revenant will ALWAYS have 20 skills, no more than that. Okay.

Engi, they get 5 from their weapon, and then 5 utilities. Now also 5 toolbelts. That is a minimum of 15, but what Engi doesn’t run kits? so subtract one utilitiy, and then add 5 abilities. Most builds I know run 2 kits, at least, that is the norm. That means 24 skills total, more than a rev with weapon swap, meaning engi has more options in combat WITHOUT a resource to spend.

Now we have ele, who already has a minimum of 25, even more than the engi. That is if we don’t use conjure weapon, same math, but as you can see… yeah.

Long story short, you can’t compare these, at all. Rev has a resource, 18 of the 20 skills use the resource, and then wait for the CD. Other classes, just CD. Now the Rev does get more skills than other classes, but you cannot compare them to engi or ele, please stop with it.

Two 7% damage boosts is not enough to compete with other professions that can stack above 20% base damage boost.

There is only one 7% boost and that was to ferocity… even with a control find I could see that. Look again please.

There is also a 7% on a target with vulnerability on, and you deal it attacking (1 stack every 4 attack, with swords attack speed it feels like a solid perma vulnerability).

Is that on this thread anywhere? I can’t find it here. I dont remember it from the livestream but I joined late :p if the OP I quoted from meant from the stream shouldn’t that be posted ina different topic then, as this is about other changes?

Don't have beta, but was wondering...

I understand the class doesn’t have it’s DPS trait line, but people are still arguing that even when this is added the class won’t have enough damage, it’s only one trait line. Now I agree, however with the Legend swap mechanic doesn’t it seem like people are looking at this class a little… wrong?

My impression of the class is that it is supposed to fit two roles well, and not specialize in one specific thing. Of course there is a disconnect here with the new ‘no points on the trait lines’ (I agree with this choice however this is a separate thread altogether so let’s not talk to much about that here), having to wear armor for stats, and not having weapon swap. Even when the DPS Legend comes out wouldn’t it be hard to keep up the damage in the non-DPS stance? To me it seems like it would be better to try and build around 2 ideas at the same time, but then you are forced to pick one weapon that can work with it. This weapon might exist in the future but as of right now I am not seeing it just from all these other threads alone.

I’m just trying to get other opinions on this, are the revenants capable of doing just one role when the class is based around switching utilities with other utilities that are severely different from each other? Is having to learn how to find synergy between legends going to be key, or even worth the time to learn the skill it takes to do so (I don’t see how the future DPS will synergize with Vantari for example, but again I haven’t played the class yet)?

Riranor.6315

Please only reply to this thread if you’re going to add suggestions for other buffs to necros or ways to improve already-suggested buffs

I am sure you can take opinions on what you posted no?

Take off the ICD on Chill of Darkness, increase the chill duration to 3 sec and make it a GRANDMASTER trait in the Curses line…make it replace Enfeebling Shroud or Lingering Curse…neither of those are worthy of being a GM trait

I know people have complained about a recent nerf to this, am I right? I dunno much about this trait because I don’t use it, can’t give an opinion.

Allow Well of Darkness and Well of Power to also damage enemies…they should be able to do approximately the same amount of damage as Well of Corruption

That is WAY to OP, we already have decent damage alone in pvp with just the one well and our a when using the 3 on the dagger to immobilize, when successful this would be way to much damage for someone to recover from. Will never happen.

Take off the ICD on Mark of Evasion…each time the necro dodges, the new Mark of Blood created will replace the old one

I think a better option is make the mark combat only, otherwise you could do it after every time they step on it. Of course you could do your idea if you say the ICD only works for when they do trigger the mark somehow, but that’s still kind of OP

Consume Conditions: Reduce vulnerability stacks to 3 for 2.5 sec…if traited with Master of Corruptions, reduce duration of blind to 2 sec

Just run condition transfer, you’ll get rid of the invulm. The cooldown does need to go down though. Next.

the rest of your changes I either agree with or just don’t see much of a point to it. However Necro isn’t as bad as people try to say it is, from personal experience. It’s just not part of PVE meta, because PVE meta is cheesy and involves exploits. We are balanced rather well in PVP, I enjoy the class and win consistently with it after some vigorous practice, and it wasn’t excruciating to learn or anything. It’s not hard to adapt.

if you’re seriously going to complain about all the changes that have occurred WHEN YOU HAVEN’T PLAYED GW2 SINCE BETA…that’s all on you bro.

i have no sympathy for you. I didn’t even finish reading your post. Don’t play MMOs then.

I dont agree with OP but i wanted to point out he said he played since beta,,not that he stopped at beta, meaning he played from when the beta started until now.

Anyway these new changes made more build viability, if you just look at the current meta. That is proof these changes were good, even if you have to adapt. And no one will miss you, leaving the game is an empty threat, im tired of seeing it on this forum. The problems this new system creates are easily outweighed by the benefits.

EDIT: Yes we have less diversity, but those kind of builds didnt help, they hurt. There is less diversity and mote viability. I will take viability anyday.

Sureeeee…… XD

Have you actually looked at them so far? I for one dont want to play a ranged guarduan and thats all the dragonhunter supplies, plus traps which is meh. The elite spec though covers things the class was missing, like an extremely long ranged option. They provide more options, not necessities. Reaper doesnt really help condition builds, and chronomancer is having a hard time competing with existing lines.

This had been my favorite mmo since its release. I love this game and always try to defend it to friends who say even just one thing negative about gw2 and Anet. Tonight though I’m just sad. I would pay 50 dollars if there is enough content, however i only have an extra 40 dollars spending money a month, games have to compete and convince me to save that money for purchase. I cannot rationalize paying for the expansion at release, I just can’t. I’m going to keep playing, but this news involving 50 dollars, core game inclusion, no character slot, will be my first disappointment since release. I really don’t even know what I’m trying to say. I’m just sad I guess.

Eeep, cripple/chill nudering NO DX

They still serve their functions as a condition, they just don’t affect dash skills anymore. Keep in mind that you still have access to the same dash skills (provided you play a profession that has access to one), too, so you can keep up. Also swiftness boon and signets say hello. Learn to adapt, and don’t complain before trying it out.

You don’t need to play this to realize that it’s honestly pretty bad. It’ll so easy to escape now that it’s not even funny, and whoever you’re fighting can’t do anything about it, even if they try to cripple/whatever you. It takes a fair bit of “play” out of the game.

I stand by my point. Learn to adapt, and don’t complain until you’ve actually seen/played the changes in action.

Mr.Wubzy’s got the right idea. That’s all I got to add.

Should the change to DASH affect Fear?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Riranor.6315

Riranor.6315

Didn’t the Reaper reveal specifically call out that it was picking up chill effects so you could fear a target while easily keeping in melee with it?

changed the topic to ‘should the change to dash affect fear’

So are you now asking if the change affects fear, or if the change should or shouldn’t affect fear?

In any case, my response in both situations will be “no”.

I’m asking if it should or not affect fear.

Why not? What makes a leaping skill (movement skill) different from a movement/control skill like fear or taunt?

Do we just call it magic and be done? I just can’t comprehend it, do you know why they’re changing how movement conditions affect leaps? Because I don’t.

Okay, so the reason this was applied was to buff disengage and nerf dashing around far to fast. Way to fast. Disengage options for some classes are scarce, and they need their leaps to work Greatsword Guardian or they have literally nothing. Ele’s with their fgs already dash really far with it, the buffs makes it go WAY to far. So then we have what you call fear. Fear is a condition, fear is SUPPOSED to hurt you in someway. Swiftness is counterplay because it can help you escape while feared. Chill/Cripple is smart casting before applying the fear if you want them to stay close, in the Reapers case being melee they do want that. Note doing the changes you want will hurt the Reaper so bad the necro will be stuck being arguably the worse class still

So in all, the dash changes are buff to classes with barely any disengages as is, helps classes with decent engage already but oh well, classes with decent disengage already were probably going to disengage successfully anyway.Thief, Mesmer, Ranger stealth options for example and classes who could exploit the range can’t any more. Ranger with GS, Ele with FGS Fear will be a condition, like it’s supposed to, hurting the enemy. Buffs help counter the condition, and conditions work well with other conditions.

I’d also like to point out a condition is VERY different from leaps and dashes, different mechanics entirely.

I didnt have that kind of problem, however therestwo things that make some people not play it:

- Dailies dont aply in stronghold.
- There seems to be a group of people that was clueless about what to do, and got frustrated.

Would be good if Anet solves the later with a mist tutorial in the starting pvp zone or/and a ingame description about stronghold mode maps (probably detailed and with images).
Probably in the reward, team members panel, with a pop up the first time you get in stronghold.

My dailies did apply, I played as Engineer, got both the class things done in one match, plus got a kill for the third daily. The only thing I couldn’t do was capture a point.

Yes, that’s exactly the point. It’s too easy to get. Now imagine you’re a spec without stability and have to take the buff from a hambow.

As a mesmer I got it every time without stability. If you’re there first it’s super easy to get. If warrior is trying to ignore you and commune with stability, start communing before them. Predict it, they won’t think to stop and interrupt you, usually, and if they do they are wasting time on there stability.

Riranor.6315

Alright, I am not complaining about something that happened to me, it’s what I’ve done every game and I understand it is super cheap. A guardian friend and I (as a mesmer) followed three doorbreakers and two archers that were summoned right away. we attacked the guards before the npc’s got there, and even killed about 3 players who tried to stop us. The problem comes after the doors are broken. So he judges intervention the guards, I use the greatsword 5 for the knockback, and we kill them before they get our doorbreakers. Again keep in mind the enemy team is trying to stop us, at that point we just time our invulns and condition clear and flat out ignore them. Run up the hill, defending the npc’s, do the same thing to the veteran guards and get into the keep with the lord. Our entire team saw what we were doing, so did the enemy team, and everyone came running and we had a team fight while also fighting the lord. We then focused the lord, ignoring the enemy team, after killing cleric, downed it. I quickly summoned illusions, shattered them all with the f4 distortion, and stomped for win. It took three minutes. I felt like I cheated them, and this wasn’t just a one time thing. We did this strategy for every game we played, we win 3 to 6 minutes in each time. We never had to summon any other npc’s because I was able to lockdown and interrupt the enemies and my friend gave our npc’s buffs. I find it was just far to easy, that is my complaint. The guards need some sort of CC resistance or they can’t one shot the doorbreakers. That or after a door is broken all our npc’s should die, or something. I mean I could just stop doing this strat, but the fact it’s doable means it will happen when other people figure it out, so that isn’t fixing the problem.
