Yeah, I just don’t know what to say about that yet. I actually haven’t played the game yet since the patch.

The most telling thing from Anet...

“In most games, you go out, and you have really fun tasks, occasionally, that you get to do, and the rest of the game is this boring grind to get to the fun stuff. ‘I swung a sword. I swung a sword again. Hey! I swung it again.’ That’s great. We just don’t want players to grind in Guild Wars 2. No one enjoys that. No one finds it fun.” ~ A Sword Swinging Backpeddler

And people wonder why Anet won’t talk to them. A quote from a four year old video is still being quoted today and used as a weapon of sorts.

Anet should just shut up and stop saying anything. It might come back to haunt them.

quote=4394206;Vayne.8563:]

Anet isn’t completely silent. They did say there were bugs they were working on, including the fact that some of the new player experience was supposed to not carry over to existing players and did. They don’t know why yet.

Ohh Vayne, your loyalty is cute. ( cute is the best I could come up with , without having the porcelain bus waiting for me)

+1

On this note;

I think it’s important for a company, especially an MMO company to take what their customers say into consideration. This doesn’t mean every single customer should be listened to 100%, but if someone has something to say there must be a reasonable enough reason for them to say it. Though many people might wrongly identify an issue they experience, it’s best to listen than to just ignore waves of people.

Anet clearly have a plan and an idea for their game but it’s also important to them to understand their game is played by the players. As well as it’s important for the players to understand those making the game have a vision for it.

Many in the forums can’t understand their vision but they also don’t seem to care to make their vision clear, thus frustrating many of their players.

But then again decisions are being made which might not be just in the best interest of players, they might be forced to make real business decisions, which might be against what players want.

All in all it’s a shame they made a game with such potential that time after time is met with so much criticism (almost always with some sort of credibility) due to their unusual lack of transparency in such trivial subjects with their players.

Also a note for Anet; don’t treat people as stupid, instead teach them to be better. No one goes into a game knowing the game 100%, but to assume that means they’re dumb is insulting. Make engaging, proper, yet subtle tutorials, don’t assume people are dumb and slow.

Overall I think they had the right idea into slowly introducing the game to new players but I think they went overboard and made some not so great choices along the way. I personally think many of their decisions made with the Chinese GW2 were on the right track, but not all of it was so spot on.

Also (unfortunately for some) the fact this is a free to play MMO will mean it must do things very differently from subscription MMOs, their income style is completely different and it seems Anet have been a bit wobbly trying to figure out exactly what their main income source will be with a free to play MMO.

Anet’s biggest problem is how bad their communication is. So many big outrages could have been severely reduced if Anet were just better at communicating.

There needs to be more openness and more transparency.[/quote]

I’m confused, was this other post just sarcasm?

I also posted feedback here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/When-giving-feedback/first#post4394733 about why I posted the way I did. The thread is pretty much ignored, at this point, with the amount of posting at the moment, I’m not surprised. Hopefully, something good will come out of all this negative feedback.

. Having said that though, I am actually happy that communication is improving and I hope it continues. I haven’t actually caught up with all the posts in the dev tracker since there was so many today but a post in a quote led me to this thread. Once again sorry for the rant, just frustrated.

Sadly they are hearing us, giving us those politically correct answer but don’t be fooled, they aren’t listening. People spent hours and hours giving useful feedback in CDI thread, other spent hours organizing it so it would be easier to read for Dev/Mod. What did we get? more level gated content, 3 commander tag color? and more bug than fixes.

I am completely amaze at how much time and effort went into making the game worse. Good job, maybe if they Listened to the very nice suggestion people came up with, this game would be in a totally different shape.

Also, I want to rant about one more thing. WHERE IS THE BUILD TEMPLATE. Our build are already saved somewhere in a database, because if I log on my friend computer, I have the same utility/trait, which mean they could easily take 2 people, for less than a week to make a basic build template. We don’t care how awesome you want to make it, just make one already. Any dev could code that in 20 hours top.

And sadly, I have to agree. The devs have made it clear that they hear/read our feedback but we’re in the minority. I have to say though, that in all honesty, I play the living story, not because I like it but it gives me something to do. I’m just throwing that out there because there was a post a week or 2 ago by a dev that stated there has been a lot of content added since the game released.

I agree and I thought about that when I made this post https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-owner-sometimes-required/first#post4394378

1)ANET is still making money, maybe even a lot of money. The devs are complacent, if they weren’t, I believe this game would be a lot better.

2)To me an expansion or an actual “expansion’s worth of content” would go a long ways. As far as playing another game, well, I tried, guild wars 2 ruined it, why? It’s that good but at the same time, I’m still bored. I can’t play this game as much as I used to because of lack of content but at the same time, I can’t play any other games because the game play here is so much better, lol, I’m not in a very good position here.

3)Yeah, I’m angry/frustrated and I had a lot more worse things to say but I actually held back because I know most likely my post would be deleted and not read. I still hope that what I had to say makes sense and reaches the devs.

Well I certainly hope so since another gameplay programmer said that. AND oh the inconvenience of the Guild Wars 2 Rules of Conduct https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-rules-of-conduct/ Rule 1.While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game.
I have to say…I am VERY disappointed in the griefing that is allowed in this game. It is like Anet went to SLEEP compared to GW1. It literally took 3 hours, hundreds of complaints and a dev in our guild coming online to get a person banned for ruining marionette for our server. This is unacceptable. Now we have a broken party system that is SO easily fixed by reinstating party leader that is unkickable, unless they DC or leave party (then it simply goes to 2d person to join party and so on), and we have all sorts of other issues that are flat out ignored by Anet staff. I want to play an Anet game, not a blizzard hostile community game.

Absokittylutely.

It’s okay to grief and harass if you don’t do it too often!

Whatever anet. And good job Chris. My 400+ dollars per month will go elsewhere.

I’m going to apologize right up front for this post but I am very frustrated at this point. People here throw money left and right at ANET but then ANET releases content at a snails pace. Now this might seem odd because I actually care about this game and I hope that ANET and NCSoft succeed but I’m very bored with having only 2 new maps since release (maybe another one coming after S2 mid break). I believe if people keep throwing money at ANET, things are only going to get worse, not better. I’m actually hoping a little bit that ANET starts having problems financially because I think that is the only way we are going see an actual expansion or “expansion’s worth of content”. You want new dungeons? You want more maps? You want the devs to finally listen to it’s player base? Quit throwing so much money in to the gem store, it’s actually making things worse at this point. Having said that though, I am actually happy that communication is improving and I hope it continues. I haven’t actually caught up with all the posts in the dev tracker since there was so many today but a post in a quote led me to this thread. Once again sorry for the rant, just frustrated.

This has probably been mentioned already, but since I saw no response for it repetition can’t hurt.

Ages ago, in one of the older Ready Up streams, after the last WvW tournament, a CDI regarding WvW seasons/tournaments was mentioned to be “coming within a week” I don’t think I would have missed it if it did. So whatever happened to that?

Hi Crise,

i will double check. That seems like eons ago so please forgive me for my weak memory (-:

Chris

Any updates on this? Did a quick glance through your post history and didn’t see anything, though I might’ve just missed it.

Hey Kaos,

One was by Mark Katzbach which can be found https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Ready-Up-5-30-12PM-PDT/page/2#post4075516 here and a different one by you which can be found https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Will-CDI-s-continue-after-Feature-Patch/first#post3839875 here.

Provide as much information as possible in the web form, because that will create a ticket within the support system. You are not required to provide all the information but may leave fields blank when you cannot accurately complete them. The team should be able to help you.

Maybe I’m blind in one eye and cant see out of the other, but I don’t see a “Submit a request” option in the support section.

Chris, just wanted to say thanks for the communication, it is really long overdue and please don’t let the negativity by some people turn in to another 6 months of silence. Agree, also btw, found the post where the support liaison (and possibly devs) can’t read deleted posts.

SirD — you deleted the first post, so I’m not sure exactly what it is I could share with our IT Team in trying to get the “blocked e-mail” issue addressed.

Shall I consider this a “never mind?” Or is there some number of details I should pass along?

Thanks.

I know a lot of people are upset with the way things are right now. I am too. I don’t play this game nearly as much as I used to. As a matter of fact, I last logged in to the game the first day of Dragon’s Reach part 1 and played the episode. I’m planning on logging in this weekend just to unlock part 2. What bothers me most is the lack of expansions and the lack of communication.

For those that don’t know, posts that include extreme negativity and attacks against devs are deleted. I’m really not sure if the devs can read those posts or not but I do know that awhile back someone created a thread in support and then later deleted his/her post. The support liaison noticed that the post was deleted but could not read the post. So just an FYI, for everyone, if you want the devs to notice your post, please be as constructive as possible.

Also, last but not least, I see a lot of people are upset about the lack of SAB. I never bought the infinite continue coin but if I did, I would be pretty upset as well. I tried SAB, really wasn’t that good at it, got frustrated and gave up. I know giving up probably wasn’t the best thing to do but maybe a lot of other people did the same thing. Raging on the forums is not going to help if the posts/threads get deleted because as mentioned above, devs may not be able to see deleted posts.

because anet’s upper management needs to understand how bad anet’s relationship with the wvw community has gotten.

This, so much. The reason devs don’t respond is because of all the red tape. There is the nondisclosure agreement and devs have to have their posts approved. It’s a no win situation at this point. The only hope is that upper management loosen their grip and let the devs communicate with us.

Pretty much anyone who’s not me. lol

Something that’s a cross between public relations and customer service. Someone who can help to mollify irate fans, or at least assure them their concerns have been listened to.

Not someone that works at Anet now that needs to take time out of their busy schedule. Not moderators. Not a developer.

If people’s complaints are being heard, Anet needs to say so…not just once in a while. They need to keep saying so. Otherwise, people will simply feel disenfranchised.

Yes, I agree, they need to interact us with us more there’s been hardly anything for some time now.

Perhaps if they created a position of a Community Manager who’s main job is to address the Forum concerns and community in general?

Like a community coordinator? Oh wait, we had one but they let her go because her contract expired. /facepalm

Anyway, I agree, communication would be really good at this point. I quit spending real money on this game for two reasons. The lack of expansions and the lack of communication. I hope one day ANET comes to their senses. I’m done supporting this game until if/when things get better.

Normally I see devs ingame after a big update, I’m surprised I didn’t see many zerging along with us in Dry Top.

As for the forums, I’m still waiting on the edge of my seat for the next CDI. Cmon’ devs, Necro CDI! Necro CDI! Necro CDI! Necro CDI! Necro CDI! Necro CDI!

Last time I heard anything about a CDI was here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Why-we-hear-nothing-but-Silence-from-ANet/3977640
“Hi,
The CDI is not Kaput at all. I have just been extremely busy like the rest of the team and as I have said before there is absolutely no point in doing a CDI if we cannot contribute properly to it.
A new CDI will be coming shortly! Thanks for your patience.
Chris”

That was on May 1st. I’m wondering now if the CDI’s are now put on hold because of the way the community responds and the devs are giving out more information than they should or are allowed to.

See OP the reason why the devs don’t post here is exactly because of the second reply to your thread. Even though he is implying he wants the devs to interact with the community that one sentence is laced with hostility and aggressiveness that if the devs were to post here it wouldn’t go down well.

Devs do post, you can go into the Lore section or Living World section and you will see the Devs posting on calm and well constructed threads that aren’t lashing out at their staff members. However the reason why they don’t post here often is because of the terrible negativity some groups bring on the forum. People who come into the forums with negative views on content tend to argue with the devs rather than work with them. I remember when Super Adventure Box part 2 released and Josh Foreman was constantly on the forums adressing people’s issues with the “super-difficult and frustrating” content. He was constantly telling people how to improve on it or what they could do to make it better, that he would fix some specific issues, etc. Except people were lashing out at him so bad that in literally every post he made on the huge thread you can see him start trying not to break down from anger and frustration.

Then his final post on that thread was that he was no longer told to interact with the forum. That’s why the Devs don’t comment on hot button topics. It’s not because they are selfish- it’s because the community will jump on them like rabid skritt regardless of what they say.

tl;dr: We are the reason the Devs can’t show us nice things.

No where in that thread or even looking through his posts did he say that he was no longer going to post. I did see by the tone of his posts that he was a little disappointed. His last post in that thread can be found here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/sab-bts/Is-it-too-hard-Respect-the-awesome-work/2851619
Was there a post that maybe was deleted or posted on another site because I’m missing something here?

It was in his personal blog, I believe.

I found it after some searching. Thanks, such a shame it has to be this way but I guess it is what it is. Maybe eventually, the company can loosen up a little bit. I think dev interaction is much better when they can speak their mind.

The devs used to interact quite a bit here on the forums, sometimes there were over 50+ posts in a single day. It didn’t happen often but definitely a lot more than we see now. I’m not sure what caused the change though. It seems right before the feature patch hit, they went silent. I realize they had the release in China to take care of but that was already a couple of months ago. I was hoping by now that communication would improve but at this point, it doesn’t seem like it ever will.

Negative posts happened along with the ‘Entitled’ attitude of forum posters. How can you argue with one who thinks everything they say is absolutely right (even if they are not)

I realize there are people like that but that doesn’t mean that the devs can’t interact with people that have valid concerns and complaints. I like the way this post was worded:

Quick update: I just confirmed that the fix is on our test server, so it should be included with the next major update. I can’t promise a date since things can always change—if they find an issue with the update, for example, they might need to rollback some of the changes, and the fix will get pushed back.

Maybe the devs should add the last part to all their posts or put it in their signature.

This isn’t any particular map the game is just lagging for me this week. Last week no trouble this week haven’t been able to play at all. Really annoyed I paid 40 bucks for this and can only play on certain days it chooses to run smooth.

Hopefully it’s related. Being that it’s a weekend, also a holiday weekend, it may take awhile to fix the issue. If the fix comes out and the issue persists, it may be your internet service provider. You might want to give them a call and see if there is anything they can do.

Also make sure Direct X is installed and updated, had a problem one time after upgrading to 64 bit windows and found out Direct X wasn’t installed.

How do I do that? =)

It’s possible that have a valid installation of Direct X. This could be due to corruption or you may just not have it installed. Either way we should update this.

The first link will provide you with the June 2010 redistributable which will force Windows to update Direct X. I provided this link below:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 (download and run this first)

Once installed, please use the following link to install all material post June 2010 for Direct X. Again this link is provided below:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 (download and run this 2nd)

Please be sure to save the file to your Windows desktop. Then create a new folder on the desktop and extract the DirectX files into it. Once they have been extracted open the new folder and use the DXsetup file to install DirectX.

Hope this helps!

Edit: Also, I see you have no dedicated video ram, so if the direct x update doesn’t work, you may want to consider getting a different video card.

Hey guys,

I’m not the typical “spokesdev” around the forums, so I won’t be able to give you all the answers you are looking for about what’s next, but I’ll clarify a couple of points:

  • The “usual suspects” who you would typically get answers from on this front have unquestionably been super busy getting the game out in China. A number of our devs were in China for the launch this past week, so I imagine that in addition to the hard work they put in over there to get the game launched, they’ll be returning home, getting over jet lag and catching their breath. I hope you can all understand that, and we appreciate your continued patience. We’re all as excited to share with you what’s coming next, as you are to hear it.
  • There has been, and continues to be ongoing development on projects outside of China, with the team hard at work on Living World Season 2. I can’t say anything more than that yet, other than to reiterate that we’re excited to be able to share more info on it when the time comes.
  • Come and check out the Festival of the Four Winds on Tuesday! Even if you experienced it back in July, we had a small-ish team revitalizing it to celebrate the China release, and there will be new things to do and see. :-)

Community team members are really helpful when relaying information back and forth between devs and players. ( Like Allie :’( )

Where are they?

I realize all the coders are busy with China. While I’m not thrilled that a huge patch was released and no one has any time for fixes or tweaks, I realize it happens.

But where are the community coordinators? I read the dev tracker every day. The only thing happening is that all feedback gets merged into the gargantuan feedback threads where there is no red name activity. It’s great that you’re reading the threads. But communication is two-way. Someone needs to step up and get involved in a discussion, because if we can’t see that happening, we have no way to know what’s going on, and we feel ignored. It’s 2014, the internet expects interaction, not passive silence.

Unfortunately Allie has left the team as seen in this thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Bowing-out I will miss her posts, between her and Gaile Grey, the forums were filled with red posts. Now if Gaile doesn’t post, we’re lucky to see more than 2 or 3 dev posts on any particular day. Sometimes it makes it seem like the devs don’t care. I just hope something big is being cooked up because I’m ready for new, permanent content.

Call me crazy, but I do believe some info about the next update, even if it’s just “hey, we’ll give you a potato in 4 weeks” would calm down the people impatience… such is the gw2 community hunger.

While we’d love to give you a time and date of when we’re sending out the potato, remember that during the development process we may discover that a baked potato would be even better. So instead of getting the potato of your dreams you end up with something completely unexpected.

It often happens that a mashed potato with gravy is even better still, unfortunately gravy requires more dev time. So we end up shipping a mashed potato without gravy to meet our promise of ship time or we push back the time and date of when we are shipping again and again. You get your mashed potato with gravy but it is delivered much later than it was expected.

Worst of all that is when we realize that potatoes are way too mainstream and that yams are where it’s at now. And I think we all know how reactions seem to go when we ship yams instead of potatoes.

So in a lot of cases the best we can do is tell you that we are still in the kitchen cooking things up, we’re reading your feedback, and that we’re excited to get the meal out to you soon™.

Here’s an interesting quote from a gameplay programmer that showed up https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Transparency-It-was-here-now-its-gone/first#post4019712 in this thread. I guess by now it’s pretty obvious Anet is going to keep quiet until things are ready to be released. I just hope the content they are working on will include new zones. I’m getting really bored playing the same maps for almost 2 years now.

Anet ignoring the cry's of rper's?

Anet is ignoring everyone now. Don’t feel special about your problems.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Fixing-The-Blame-storyline/4007852
Can’t say everyone is ignored, however, this is the only post by the devs today, a post that I believe any pve’er that has been playing long enough could’ve answered. Today wasn’t a holiday, today wasn’t the weekend. Today was a work day. It’s pretty clear at this point China is all that matters even though it’s America and Europe that have supported this game since day one. With the lack of content and the silence that Anet has brought, I’ve been taking a break from this game and I refuse to buy anything in the gem store with real life money. Maybe if things get better, Anet starts to communicate again, and an expansion is released, then, and only then, will I give them any more money.

Have you tried guesting to a low pop server?

I managed to fix it, thread can be closed.

For future reference:
I waited until off-peak hours and guested on a server with low population. Then I logged into my main. The game still crashed, but only after transporting me to Gendarran Fields. After a restart it worked fine.
So I’m guessing the issue was that the game wanted to automatically transport me from a nonexisting map to GF, but GF was full. So instead of going to the overflow it bounced me back to Labyrinthine and then crashed.

GW2 Devs Have In-game Powers?

Let me try to be more clear…

She suddenly disconnected. She reconnected, and then disconnected ~2 minutes after joining. She got back in, was kicked off ~2 minutes after logging in because “Someone else had logged into her account”. Now she is banned.

It sounds to me like her account was hacked and perhaps she was banned because the hacker was using a bot. She should probably secure her computer and then change her email and Guild Wars 2 password. I don’t believe this was due to being afk for a few seconds.

yes but not worth it since infused is coming soon

The only thing is I like the new look so the look of the beta fractal capacitor is no longer useful but I already have it infused and I have 2 extra transmutation crystals so why go through the trouble of infusing again if I can just transmute it and keep the infusion(if possible)?

Yes.
But only if you use the stats off the fractal capacitator and the looks off the advance spinal blades.

Also you will not be able to upgrade it to Tempered Spinal Blades or any off the coloured shiny ones that aren’t introduced yet.

My suggestion would be to wait a lil bit. Make up your mind when the follow ups for the tempered ones are there and wether you want that look or not.

Oh, I see so the different colored ones aren’t out yet?

Edit: Tried to multi quote but it left the quote link out in the 2nd part.

Ok, I have already have the beta fractal capacitor(infused) and I already have acquired the advanced spinal blades back piece. So if I transmute the 2, will I be able to keep the infusion slot?

I know this might not be related but could you maybe try this:

I would like you to try a command line argument we have seen resolve this type of issue.

Please go to your shortcut for Guild Wars 2 and right click it and choose properties.

In the line that says Target, add a space at the end of whats there and then -prefreset

It should look something like this: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -prefreset

Click apply and then ok.

Once the above is done, try launching the game and logging into the character you are having issues with. If this resolves the issue, go back into your shortcut again and remove the -prefreset line.

Hope this helps!

The issue you wrote about was caused by significant Internet disruptions that were resolved days ago. So the issue itself should be resolved. If not, please update your ticket and explain you’re still having issues.

I think I answered the questions about the “automatic closure” situation. That is not what happened, but the response you should have received seems to have been “stuck” in the system so I’m asking about it now.

Update: Yes, the agent fumbled on sending. You’ll get the response within minutes, and if you need further help you can update that e-mailed response.

Thank you once again Gaile, as I stated in my OP, the issue is no longer happening but I did find it kind of weird that I was completely ignored or so I thought. Apologies if I wasted your time, however it is nice to know what happened. Thanks for taking the time to look in to this.

Here’s some info I’d like to share with you:

  1. We’ve recently made changes designed to keep our players better informed about the status of their ticket(s)
  2. We don’t close tickets if they have not had a response from an agent, quite the contrary!
  3. We leave tickets open unless the customer has not replied in three days, at which time the issue generally is considered resolved and the ticket automatically closes.
  4. However, at any time a player can reopen or send a follow-up to his or her ticket by answering the most-recent e-mail about the existing ticket and including new information or simply asking about the status.

Robert — can you give me your ticket number so I can review this? Thanks!

Thanks for the response, ticket number#365365

As I said “I am receiving emails” so that is not the problem. I believe the ticket was closed because it was over 3 days and I remember seeing that tickets are closed over 3 days without a response, I’m searching for it. Maybe Gaile can help shed some light on this.

I had a ticket I sent back in October/November as well that never received a response and yes I have read, unless something has changed, that tickets are automatically closed after 3 days.
