I was wondering, on either the post or the video in the post it was mentioned something will be done about equipment that already has magic find on it…. but what about Foods?
Basically I would like to know if i should scarf/sell all my foods i have big stockpiles of right away or will they still retain value after the change is made?…
Can I eat as I normally do?
or
Eat as much as possible while they still have an effect?
Thank You,

My modified “Tricky Tiger” build… Relies on heavy blinds/stealths/and steal Steal STEAL!!!
When you look at the raw quantity of achievements that give displayable titles to yourself, you will notice when comparing the different realms of the game: PvE/WvW/SPvP, SPvP is greatly lacking in this area.
WvW: achievements give titles for…what?… maybe EVERY achievement?… not looking… just a iirc….
PvE: has sooooo many different sub-categories that titles, though far between, add up to quite a few when you list them all.
SPvP: There is couple achievement titles each for rank pt’s total, players killed, and maybe tournament won??? In addition iirc tournaments won as each profession. Not only does that not add up to nil of the other area’s of the game’s titles, but in order to even open up like more than 1/5 of the titles you need to fill all your toon slots with different professions and be fully experienced, or atleast moderately, in each. This is very spread out compared to the WvW and PvE; yes there are profession/race specific titles but they make up such a small % of the total titles that each potentially allocates.
MORE TITLES ARE NEEDED We are very very very proud of our SPvP achievements, and we would like to show it.

that’s what i would have thought too…. but it is not there….. and I may be mistaken ofc but i’m 99% sure I did not already open 1 since last reset b/c do not have any of the boosts/“goodies” flooding my inventory….
There must be another way to access a chest you did not open yet… yet fails to show up in inventory due to not accepting the chest icon on the loot column and losing connection/logging out again…
I did not open my daily achievement chest when I first logged b/c i was in PvP and didn’t want to be burdened w/ all the boosts and such. It was not on the right side of my loot column when I re-logged after a lag kick. I looked in the achievements panel and cannot find access to it either. I am sure I did not already open the chest, although I DID pick a skin, because I would have noticed all the goodies in my inventory which I take the time to organize in my bank.
Please Help

Looking for a come-together for Qualifying Tourney team…
This is wanting to be more of a “FUN” team than a stressed-out sweat blood team; but I hope we are very very competetive. I am prepared to, and expect to practice for the tourney most/if not all days leading up to it.
Rank: 20.5 (Dolyak)
Games Played/Won: 619/246
Tournaments Played: 85
Top Stats Awarded: 483
Me: I am a relatively new player, played about 3-4 months now and am wanting to join/put together a team for the qualifying tournament. I am on a N. American server (Borlis Pass) and spend 10-85% of my GW2 time in SPvP depending on the day (on avg. closer to 15-30%). Am fairly good for having only 2 toons/professions, best at thief, and very very good for my rank; although willing to take a “backseat” position and listen more then guide.
RogueTigeR.3160
Main: Thief, Human (Roguetiger)
Brief: This is my best played and favorite profession toon. Very adapt at contesting the far pt. while shadowstepping/running to near or mid for backup, paying attn. to team’s HP and going where needed (roaming). Played Many, Many games with this toon, learning what makes an exemplarary thief.
Alternative Toon: Warrior, Asura (Stormfirewind)
Brief: Relatively new to the profession but getting my feet grounded fast.
Special/Interesting: very, very good at the trebuche in Kyhlo.
still not working for me :S
For instance… I goto the "thief"sub-forum and search “mug”…no results… cannot be…
just to keep all my options open…. i go back to the main forums page and search for “mug” again…still no search results…
idk what to do
the thing about the trap is thou… it is just that… “a trap”…which requires an enemy to trip it… unlike a mesmer portal… idk if a nerf is needed for such a mechanic….and yes…there already is a distance limit on it.
try using the skill, and read the changes that they made to it.
TY…. have been busy lately and havn’t had much time to keep up w/ the ANet changes. And I do/did/probably will continue to use shadowtrap more than I’d say 80% of “real” (1st toon created/only toon/ most played toon) thieves out there. It is a GREAT skill. IMO… it epitomizes the thief’s mechanic….
The change(s) to shadowtrap imo are more of a control feature and if you follow me, a “shadowstep” designed at the archetype or essence of the function rather than an OP skill mechanic that ANet didn’t pre-balance properly and needs a nerf IMO:
- 45 sec’s: Obviously the recharge puts more emphasis on using the Master Trapper trait and dissuades thieves who are not “trap oriented” from using it as an “OP teleport at whim skill”; with the trait to match the skill(s), the new time becomes really negligible given the nature of the skill workings.
- Original Location on Destroy: Which is more OP??: Allowing thieves to destroy and replant traps which they’ve just realized are better located in a different position/the positioning has become more beneficial in a different local just this instant?… OR… MAKE the thief go RETRIEVE their trap in order to replant it??…
- Stun Breaker: As for the shadowtrap breaking stuns, IMO this should have always been, if shadowtrap is indeed a true example of the thief mechanic. All “true” shadowstep skills DO break stuns: Shadowstep (Utility Skill)/ Shadow Return, Infiltrator’s Signet, Steal. It only makes sense that if Shadowtrap is to be a “true” shadowstep mechanic, that it break stun as well.
- Skill Recharge Start: Recharge initiating on Shadow Pursuit/ Destroy only makes sense if we break down the skill as a “true” shadowstep… Shadowtrap is just that, a shadowstep, only stretched out over time and space: Setting the trap is the usual “shadowstep” skill usage…an enemy triggering the trap is the internal mechanism of the skill checking that an enemy is within range for the shadowstep to occur. Shadow Pursuit to the enemy is the act of shadowstepping to the enemy within range, and Destroy is essentially the failed attempt at shadowstepping because no enemy has triggered the internal “within range” switch and the skill user winds up at the original location of the use of the shadowstepping skill mechanism. Normally, this is termed as a “failed” shadowstep, but when we stretch out over distance and time the operation of shadowstepping, we see this can be beneficial given the Shadow Trap’s macro-environmental nature. *Just because something is beneficial at certain times, does that alone make it unbalanced?.. or is balance more of a control system with harmonic design?
- Addition of Boons: As for the might/fury….I see this as a way for thieves to gain boons a little more often (given we utilize only a couple/handful of them) without altering/adding more boons to the trait lines. IMO, as this IS a trap, it makes perfect sense that THIS instance/skill be the one to gain the boons and leave the majority of the thieve’s skills at current settings. Maybe this is just happy thinking thou…..maybe they felt bad for the poor ol’ thief to have to step back to his trap in order to move it :P
The ShadowTrap is perhaps one of the most elegantly designed skills there are: It is a skill modeled after a game mechanic which epitomizes the profession which carries it: shadowstep, only… It is slooowwwwwed down over much much time…and therefore given a greater range. The pursuit mechanism is basically a “yes” from the server stating “there IS an enemy w/in range for shadowstep”, only this internal check is not instant, but delayed. I am a designer myself and ArenaNet designers went over and beyond on this skill if you ask me. It is Very Very exquisitely designed.
Nerf it?… No…. Most people want to nerf skills which are TOO FAST!… "that DPS is THRU THE ROOF… (skills outputting damage at an excelled pace), not a skill which is sooooo slow that it doesn’t complete it’s “true” function, the shadowstep of the thief to the opponent, until they are actually able to do so…..

Not a technical issue… just….didn’t know/couldn’t find a better place to post:
I have tried fruitlessly and have searched for a mechanic that works but have not found anything.
When searching for content on the forums…
I have tried using the “search the forums” bar on the right side of the top of the webpage w/ very little success. I search for terms I KNOW would get results only to get, “No Results, Try a different search term”; or very very few posts when there should be a plethora.
I know there HAS to be a way for people to search the forums efficiently and effectively… plz help
ThankYou,

actually… I understand what you’re saying completely…
< 0*0*30*10*30
The thing is thou… just b/c those are choices for us, doesn’t mean we get them free. There are many places d/p thieves, with a build similar to which I just laid out, wish they had that extra 5 or 10 pt’s of trait to spend in say a more “direct damage” trait-skill/trait-line. We are given the option of these traits, yes, but at the cost of others. I’m not saying initiative has to be an “issue”, but just making the factual statement that using weapon skills to stealth as a D/P thief uses more initiative than other weapon sets for thieves, fact.
I’m just trying to say that in order for that to work, sacrafice of traits and utilities must be made; NOT to say any/every build doesn’t sacrafice something to make their own thing work as well as it can, just saying: all for all, a lot of initiative is spent in the D/P build…
I don’t think most players who are comfortable w/ their skill setups generally look at the skill bar all too often….Especially in WvW and SPvP situations… More is the case you are looking at what is going on around you or looking for potential threats/opportunites.
That being said, I think the basic generic icon change for that 5ish seconds is very, well, camouflaged. A more appropriate “alert” that the trap has been tripped and it is time to ambush or lose the trap altogether, would be more of a blinking or flashing icon, rather than just a pure icon change.
I would assume most players who have become familiar with their skills/utilities almost “see through” the skill bar as I do and a simple change of a mostly black/white icon to a mostly black/white icon would hardly draw the eye.
Just my 2 cents….
Thx,
RogueTigeR
My build is more about …. “Stealthy Trickery”…than immediate burst damage…Tigers are cats after all… I like to play w/ my prey a little b4 the kill
…
Thx for the advice…and may I ask why you suggest sigil of doom over earth?…
the thing about the trap is thou… it is just that… “a trap”…which requires an enemy to trip it… unlike a mesmer portal… idk if a nerf is needed for such a mechanic….and yes…there already is a distance limit on it.
I’ve gone to a “trickier” and less acrobatic build…. only 5 trait pt. switch… but this is my current SPvP build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYAQRAoa6alUmiP3ey7E/5EB3jii0m69gsj1sdFuKA-T4Ag0CnIQShkDJDSSksINoYRwuiTBzCeEA
-mind you steal w/ the capstone trait is 21.5 not 26.75 secs…. This build highly relies on the steal skillS (being both the initial shadowstep, stealth, fury might swiftness buffs, daze, rip 2 boons and get them AS WELL AS the stolen skill from the opponent).
Love IT!
RogueTigeR
be prepared to let your auto-attacks roll out the damage. Thieves need to learn to play from the start and it becomes easier to see what’s going on when you’re not mashing your own skill bar.
very very true…..theives’ #1 skills are very very strong…or so I’ve been told….
And know your top 3 weapon combination skills (not 3 skills… but the 15 skills for the 3 different sets you use most) INSIDE AND OUT*….
*Get to know your skills better than the back of your hand. Know what does what, and the most beneficial times to use every skill and when to rely on wep1 skills…. Learn many many different skill (weapon and utility, each and combined) combos and begin to learn and look for the cues of the best times to play each; and when/what combos you can string together….
omg the d/p haters ……
the ability for thieves to not get hit…whether that be stealthing or thru blinds is their “great profession mechanic”…. do not hate on d/p thieves b/c of blinds….or the combo field…. there are many many drawbacks….
i.e. no cn’d….stealthing becomes atleast a little harder and doesnt carry w/ it quite the dmg…and if u do want to stealth w/ the #5 combo field… it takes quite a bit of initative to form and finish the combo.
The NEED to get in close….#4 spammed as a “ranged” attack won’t kill…well…maybe …not atleast w/o enemy regen and a couple minutes of spamming….
Lack of a true evasive attack other than the ol’ dodge.
+1 I believe this is a huge problem w/ the “shadow step” mechanic…I call these situations “snag’s”….. I get snagged on the landscape about 1/4 shadowsteps… which is utterly ridiculous by my accounts…. so…. 1/4 times… ur utility/wepskill not only does not work according to written descriptions/player planning… but… about 1/3 of those “snags”… put you in a VERY VERY BAD SITUATION….
It’s great, because it means that if someone grinds for YEARS to get to the LAST rank, he’ll just have armors that you can buy for some gold in pve or wvw from the BEGINNING of the game …
But he will be the only one with this armor in pvp. The thing is that everyone will start to cry in the pve forum if anet brings some unique pvp equip.
Wooooow Ferik u hit r 20 it took u probably about 2-3 days to get there its absolutely understandable that u want access to all pvp armors after so much hard work.
Considering all the rewards/incentives/game play advantages PvE/WvW has over PvP, I DO think some SPvP only skins would help the situation. Do I think “load it up and taht’s a rap”? No; something more needs to be done, but making a few designer skins PvP exclusive would brighten a lot of people’s days. Mine included.
ty myr for the advice.
^Yeah eles sure got more aoes than necros sarcasm
And that flying all over is lethal when the game is about holding points.
or contesting …. which is a very underplayed element…but i guess we’re talking hot-joins… so maybe…not underplayed :P
ty for responses… was just wanting basically to appoint/step-up myself as a “leader” in tourney “solo join” situations…when i find out at the end of the match i should not have only designated myself a role but perhaps guided some of the “newer” players i kinda feel like i missed an opportunity or I should have stepped up…Yet if there were a lot higher rank players on the team I dont think I should be assigning their respective role or giving them all too much advice…
how can i see other players (including my own i guess…besides looking at lvl’ing bar at bottom) rank level during/before matches… i can see on the scoreboard (b) at the end of the match everyones rank… but I would like to see b4 match or during…
For hot-join as well as tourney’s i guess…
Ty,
RogueTigeR
I had a similar thought to this too… names, be it generic in WvW only lend to lack of “a real world exper5ience”. Your armor already sticks out like a sore thumb…. why brand that thumb with a flashy neon light???
Possible Solution:
Make the generic WvW names semi-transparent….easily readable… If you catch it in the 1st place….. This is a best of both worlds… still get the names, but harder to pick out of the environment.
So, long story short….
Was trying to get my daily from 4/5->5/5 in the last 2 minutes of availabilty which occured about 3 minutes ago and was going to try and complete the eat 25/25 pieces of food. So…. I stufffed my face w/ as much zhaitaffy as possible in 30 seconds to my surprise my achievement progress did not move 1 step closer to fulfillment to give me the daily rewards. Is Zhaitaffy not really a food? It gives boons/benefits from the consumption of said product; as well as both “normal” food (atleast I KNOW spicy pumpkin cookies count for the achievement b/c I was at 3/25 foods eaten before this occurance took place and they were the only food consumed today) and zhaitaffy are classified under their mouse-over descriptions as “Consumable(s)”. This leads me to believe zhaitaffy really is SUPPOSED to be classified as a “food” but was neglected to be coded to be included in the “eat # foods” daily achievement progress.
I really would like my daily chest :S and I believe zhaitaffy really is a “food”….
When you are crafting the series from which it takes materials from you to craft is currently: Inventory -> Bank/Storage -> Collections. This is not right when you think about it.
Yes, it should initially take mat’s out of inventory for usage, but after that, it SHOULD use all available materials in collections (it is after all a collection of your crafting resources….), not storage/bank, where you place items you wish to hold and/or keep for later. The series of available resource usage should go: Inventory -> Collections -> THEN Storage/Bank.
Every time I wish to craft something I must take out exactly the ecto I need from collections and place into inventory b/c I am also slowly saving a stash for the o’ so many things ecto’s are needed to produce/upgrade as well; without doing this it takes the resources from my storage, which I take as a place to put materials sometimes that I will later deem usage for, not everyday crafting.

So, I’m not sure if this is fairly new at all, or since the dragon bash, “Dragon Coffer” patch about 1 day ago b/c I farm the path but not very regularly; thou just now I did attempt to farm for about three straight hours.
158% Magic Find.
Problem: It’s not a drop in the rate of the lodestones per-se, but ALL crafting materials. I used to get a plethora of 300ish +/- resources when farming there, but now I get a majority of green/blue drops + a good number of whites, but after the 3 hrs… I’ve gotten 27 resources in total….
Would like to know from ANet if this is some bug w/ the mobs now dropping the coffers or it is intended.
Thank You
actually… the thing is…and i am a sole thief… main toon…. only 1 toon… althou i do not use but the elite one… venoms are OP….when in groups…. they are not meant for duo’s or solo use…
2 reasons:
Venomous Aura:
gives any frienly around u same venom… ANY… 8 members in vicinity… 8 venoms coming up….
in combo w/
Leeching Venoms: steal hp when triggering a venom…
if u slowly cycle thru venoms.. and stack or place friendlies in strategic proximity or even converge at regular intervals…say cross paths every 10-15 secs…let each venom run its course b/c healing doesnt stack for multi venoms triggered…
Spider venom= 5 attacks; Skale= 3; Ice Drake=3 Basilis=1
(x2 for all if grand master DA trait)
Thats MASSIVE amts of friendly heal+enemy control/conditions given out.. by whole team… initiated by YOU.
thats the way I see it atleast… venoms=the more the merrier (utilities/elite AND friend share)
also smoke screen + cluster bomb combo from short bow …can stack 5 cluster bombs into 1 screen gives quite a bit of stealth to start w/… then save ur heal skill + blinding powder + refuge till u get to the pt… pop all 3… ur golden…
Short bow is great for event farming which IMO is fastest way besides wvw to gain loot/gold/xp. lets u attack from a safe distance and hit/tag as many mobs as possible w/ the arrow bounce maximizing your xp you get from all those kills.
Shadow Arts is actually quite useful as a leveling thief…atleast it was for me….
can go w/ either stealth blinds or deception faster CD w/ 1st trait… and steal=stealth on 2nd… when u get 3rd go for more healing w/ stealth heal and keep 1st as heal or change 1st to deception cooldown if u hadnt picked that already. Stealthign has saved my life time and time again… if not only for the loss of agro, but also the health regen…
You can stealth soooo many ways to heal/lose attn of mobs:
1. BlackPowder+HeartSeeker 2. steal (ShadowArts Trait) 3 . Heal skill Hide in Shadows 4. Blinding Powder 5. Shadow Refuge 6. (if you do indeed go SB as a 2nd wep) Smoke Screen combo field then cluster bomb into field for area stealth… can stack the duration w/ upto 5 cluster bombs given base 12 initiative and duration of combo field. (you see why the cooldown on deception skills is uber important… if u use the 3 mentioned..powder/refuge/screen in total u cooldown 26 seconds faster…which is HUGE! lolz..)
my 2 cents from a fairly new thief that just did the newbie stuff … only started maybe 9-10 weeks ago..
i can’t even beat other thieves and i’m a thief
lmao.. ditto :S
We shouldn’t call this a nerf so much as a bug fix. Shadow Return was never intended to be a infinite range shadowstep-back . It now requires you to know more about positioning and the ins and outs of the skills (ie. being able to put it down when not targeting anyone. This becomes extremely useful now that the range is what it should be).
I’m not going to post ALL the spamming of everyone that said this but this is the 1st… here is my reply…. it never WAS infinite….only so far u can travel in 15 secs…which… when “in combat mode mentality” goes by a lot faster than u think…
Also note that the initial shadow step is only 600 range… so its not like you can just port 1200 away… do ur thing.. continue moving an additional 1500 away… and expect to get back….
This was definately a nerf..and a bugged nerf at that.
thx u for explaining
lately…when i do not stay w/in the “refuge”…and it only has say 5 secs on stealth…3 from initial pulse and 3 from the 2nd… minus 1 second used to gain the 2nd pulse, and I leave the designated “refuge”… as soon as i leave the marked AOE circle… i lose all stealth……
I do not know if this is a bug, something new, or I personally am doing something new/wrong I have not done in the past…
Plz help if you can.
TY,
RogueTigeR
I am kinda in teh same boat as you,
Very noobed/new to the game and thief is my only toon.
As far as survivability:
do not listen to me b/c I too, like i said, am very unknowledgeable, but the “deception” utility skills, which you do utilize refuge, and the trait line, Shadow Arts, are how I atleast defend myself.
As far as armor goes, IDK if you’ve done any of the “temple” events in Orr?… but w/o spending a single copper, you can buy a full set of lvl 80 exotic gear. Assuming you, like me, leveled up doing events whenever they were in the vicinity, you need only event farm a little more and you should have all the karma required to purchase a full set of armor. Each piece is 42,000 karma from the karma vendor who sponsors that temple’s event.
well… I was told and agreed aswell that I should be tankier while im learning the game/toon and when I have more/less mastered being able to do what I want to do at command less tanky and more DPS.
To answer your question, more so direct damage, not so much condition applied; I do not use any of the venoms given to me in the arsenal except for basilisk, and occasionally the poison trap, which i use solely for the immobilization…ahhh…needle trap i think…
My “Game-Plan”, as is, atm is:
————————————-
1- a- Shadowstep/Fast-approach :
(OR)
1- b- Approach from disadvantaged line-of-sight…1st approach tries, not always, but lets say 65% of time to be non-stealthed to save them for “mid-combat” usage…but if I am wanting to save initiative and would rather dodge in… I approach at hopefully a different elevation and try to encounter between 4-5 o’clock or 7-8 o’clock… if u get my drift….
2- Try to hit hard as possible: (Backstab)
3- Stealth ASAP:
(I often, to save initiative, or when utilities/steal/hide in shadows not cooled down yet, as well as to add a little extra damage than just backstab+backstab+backstab+backstab, etc…use the Black Powder + Heart Seeker to not only nerf their outgoing damage (blinded), add to my damage (HS) as well as stealthing me once again for a brief moment (Combo: Smoke field + Leap finisher)).
4- Attempt to change directions: /Mislead/Misdirect opponent so as to throw off their PoV and slow their efforts to target me
5,2- Cross paths: once again with opponent at which time …Repeat step 2.
6,3- Stealth again: and get out of the way of retaliation(s)
….Repeat: step 4…5,2…6,3….etc. etc. etc.
________________________________________________________________
To simplify:
Get in, Hit ’em hard and fast, get out (stealth+out of zone attack reach), Repeat.
sry… a long reply to a short question :P
Seeing as how spectator mode is now viable in SPvP matches, I was wondering who exactly I should be studying; picking up pointers/tips from; trying to make myself as a sPVP’er aspire to be as good as.
I am on a N.A. server, (Borlis Pass); idk if that matters, i am very new still, to SPvP as well as to GW2… Just started playing the GW2 about 2 months ago. I have done a bit of pvp, but still not quite what/as much as I am used to in the game I play. I do take it a bit seriously, ofc all in fun, but it IS an aspect of the game I’d like to harness and explore my potentials.
So….long story short, I am looking for who to take pointers from/spectate/attempt to contact/maybe meet up for a lesson or 2….
Couple things please:
———————————————
1. I am a thief, sole character on this acct., so I take the profession pretty serious, it is after all, atm… my ONLY toon. I am not just a “thief for SPvP/Mesmer for dung’s/Warrior WvW/Ele PvE power farmer”……
I use and try to adapt my thief to whatever situation arises, so I am quite serious about wanting to learn the in’s and out’s of the profession from someone other’s think is quite talented with the assembled traits/skills/weapon combo’s/profession uniqueness that is this class.
2. I am very familiar with and use on basically any situation, whether it be primary or my secondary set for the event, Dagger-Pistol. My 2nd most familiar weapon is the short-bow, which I use as a 2ndary for almost all PvE situations and/or primary to tag-farm/AoE mobs.
I have used in the past D/D as a primary so I am halfway familiar with that, and in the past aswell I have used P/P and P/D as 2ndary’s.
I am very interested in switching my 2ndary (If I can call it that, considering what I want to achieve it to be…) Sword-Dagger which I have seen some videos and tested out myself for the past 1-2 weeksish thou I am still very clumsy and infamiliar with the controls, half the time getting rushed/pressured into not knowing exactly what moves my fingers are doing; thou I am practicing with the set-up and I am wanting it to be a close 2ndary setup for my SPvP build most of the time.
So……
————
If anyone could tell me who to look out for, where they might be/where I can find them; if you are on good terms/are friendly with said individual(s) if you could drop my name and tell them I am looking for advice it would be much, much, much appreciated. And, if you are reading this and have success with a thief I ask that you would drop me a line so that I can reply and we might have a back-and-forth whether it be thru mails/whispers/me spectating/them spectating me/ 1 on 1 trainings/etc. etc. etc.
Thank You so much for your help,

have a few myself:
will gather thoughts and reply with a bigger post later… but 1 to comment on that I don’t want to forget:
- ability to take notes on/mark the map with a toggleable feature for “notes on/notes off”
I recently had to wipe my HD b/c of virus issues and lost all my GW2 screenie’s… is there any way to retrieve any of the more recent ones?
