Look why don’t SF and GoM call a truce tonight? We all agree that ET is bad at WvW. Lets just leave each other’s BLs and EB along, let us have SM, and We’ll split ET territories in their BL and EB evenly, except let you guys have OL and Hills?

That is where you are wrong, many people do not think “ET is bad at WvW”, in fact what many people think, is that smaller servers tend to have better quality players. Speaking from a server that has outnumbered, and been outnumbered, it is true.

The more people you have, the easier it is, the worse your build is because you can “get away” with it due to sheer numbers usually.

So no I do not think ET is bad at WvW, I think if they had the player-base that the T5-6 servers have then they would make a lot of you sorry for disrespecting them.

ET is actually much better at WvW right now than it has been in some time. I played on ET since it was in T1. I have also played on various other tiers on other servers. ET is not bad and not great. If you are judging solely based on Glicko, than yah ET is the worst server(for another day!). Rank 23 here we come kittenes!

There are a lot of great WvW’ers that have always stuck things out on ET which I have great respect for. I couldn’t do it. There are times when I just couldn’t take the WvW on ET and had to move to another community for a while. I have high expectations from people in WvW. I don’t care about PPT but I do care about strategy, execution, and the fights. Some days I play on ET and I think, hot kitten we can do anything right now we are gonna wreck some kitten. And then next day I think a parade of short buses dropped all the kids off for WvW day camp. But there are only 2 servers where I could login each day and consistently expect high level of play. Please note that I am talking about PUGS and PUG commanding. Guild WvW is its own deal.

But I have always come back and enjoyed ET. There are some WvW I have been on that I definitely wouldn’t come back to…where everyday WvW is filled with the short busers.

What? No love for ET owning SM for all of 2 minutes before the barbarians at the gate crashed the party? This was a monumental achievement for us!

Yes it was a feat for ET to take SM last night. OK now I will step up to on my bully pulpit. But it was pretty much just a monumental waste of 7 hours to do so. Its like the high school dropout dude working at Arbys living in his in 1982 GMC conversion van with the wizard mural on the side trying to score the chick that is a perfect 10.5 with an MBA from Wharton sitting in a c level suite at a Fortune 500 company. That pretty much isn’t going to happen unless there is massive amounts of alcohol and ruffies involved. SM wasn’t even held for a tick. I can’t even say it was for the fun fights. Pretty much sit at keep defend trebs, run through hole in wall all disorganized, get wiped, wall repaired, treb more, run through wall all disorganized, get wiped.

It was great for SF and GoM tho, it made swapping SM back and forth for them easier. After initially busting the T3 SM nut for the reset, we don’t need to keep at it. GoM and SF will keep going after each freely for a paper SM. In the meanwhile all our trebbing kept bringing the zergs back to our 1/3rd to ensure all of our towers were perma-paperized(minus Veloka). We lost a T3 Ogrewatch because defending SM trebs, which could have been rebuilt, was more important. Meanwhile all of GoM and SF was at full T3.

Taking SM will be a lot more fun and actually useful in a more balanced matchup. When you are severely outgunned by both opponents its just a waste of time. Unless you have some big coverage advantage during a certain timezone.

The siege tactics of SF cannot be understood by mere mortals. I definitely don’t get them most of the time. I am guessing they are training new commanders or something. Went to Wildcreek just after SF flipped, 3 half build catapults, 1 completed catapult, move towards rogues 3 more half built siege including 1 alpha golem and 1 fully built catapult. OK, wtf SF not running commanders in EB? Or you just do your siege freestyle because you cannot let supply concerns control your free spirits?

Ohhh and I had lots of fun commanding EB again tonight. Spent most of the night avoiding fights with larger zergs. Lookout tho, my troops are getting a lot better working together! Lookout kittenes, ET is out to get you! Our ascension to T1 glory has only begun!

There is a actually quite a bit of strategy behind T1 guild zerg balling. I understand that the playstyle might not appeal to everyone, but as a connoisseur of strategy and tactics its a lot of kittening fun! It definitely is not easy mode. Just one of the many ways to skin the WvW cat.

I am stepping away from the game for the most part, so really I do not have much of a dog in this fight…But this is a clear indicator of the ABSOLUTE kittenHOLE that ANET has allowed this game to become. Siege Wars 2, Coverage Wars 2, Transfer Wars 2….

People from SF have always clamored for some of the higher tier transfer “love”, all the while several of us have cautioned of what can happen…20 transfer in and 40 transfer back out with them…I hope VS stays a very long time, otherwise some people are not gonna be very happy. (They have seemed pretty cool during my brief interactions with them)

Continue to work hard SF and do the little things right, don’t rely too much on outside sources to help you get better. Hopefully everything works out in the end (it always does right?).

Going to miss you my fine forum friend. I loved our days spent together getting roflzergstomped endlessly due to Glicko brokenness. The game is still great and the ability to move around amongst servers can be lots of fun. I have had great learning experiences hoping around servers. But I always have come back to ET, 3x now. To be fair the rally bait thing is a pretty legitimate concern when you are driving a T1 Ferrari guild built for zerging. But the whole thing is pretty laughable here.

It took me a while to grasp this concept, but some people just WvW for the pvp. I had a large argument with PAXA a long time ago about this, but I do understand now why they do what they do and why every small man does what they do. After playing for PPT for so long and then transitioning to the small man roaming play style, I’ve come to enjoy WvW a lot more.

This is my biggest gripe with WvW. But first, let me be extremely clear on one point: I like WvW. It’s very fun for me in its current configuration. (That’s not to say that improvements couldn’t be made, however.)

With that being said, I will NEVER support guild groups that do nothing but fight other guild groups in the WvW setting. I get that they’re looking for something that Anet doesn’t currently provide in it’s current configuration, but I honestly believe they do not contribute anything to their server’s success from a WvW “working as intended” standpoint. I get why they do it, I just don’t support it.

Now if those groups, stop a cap, gank a gang of enemies that are on their way to defend one of their structures, or cap the occasional camp, on occasion, then I’m a little more on board with supporting their GvG craziness.

I don’t think you can use PAXA as a good example of….anything. They are verrryyyy spacial. The lil bus picks them up for GW2 training camp every morning. There are lots of guilds that just play for fights. The surest way to get fights is by attacking/taking an enemy structure. So pretty much all guilds playing for fights impact PPT. Whether or not they care about that resultant PPT is another story…. The guilds that don’t attack any structures are pretty much an abnormality in WvW.

With the notable exception of some other guilds that left after “don’t push-gate” and any others that were poached by ZL this morning.

If there are any ZL people still reading this thread, one thing confuses me: Why JQ? You guys are a huge guild that could queue EB pretty much by itself IIRC, wouldn’t the chance of you guys getting to run a guild group in JQ be effectively zero?

Yer not sure why the originals left too… We seemed to be doing extremely well before ZL brought the crap to the server. It’s great being told karma trains were to get more people into WvW but then why leave as soon as they get enough karma to get legendaries? They want a challenge, We get a challenge this match up, but instead of the DH match up where they PvE’d all week they skip servers? It’s hard to believe what they say when actions do another. We have and have had alot of people who fight for the PPT, use of tactics and generally fight for the server to become better. RISE and RH are amazing, so is HH and a few others too for always saving the day and from what I can see fighting for our server and not to thier own beneficial gain.

Sorry that you guys lost a big WvW guild. I know I come on here and talk some smack sometimes, but it’s all for fun to see what others reply. Who wants to see a movie with no action of some sort in it, ya know?

But really, I know what it’s like losing big WvW guilds. The server VS was from lost A LOT of those back in Septembers, and some early in 2013 making our server on and off, up and down. Now we transferred to SF to work on our synergy, and one day will move up in another higher server, but I agree… why T1 lol. Ques, skill lag, just bleh. And I thought WvW was GoMs skill group? From what you’re saying they’re a huge guild moving to JQ? That’s worse lol, like you stated, good luck to them getting to run as a guild.

Why move to JQ? It has a really solid foundation of guilds that run tagless and has a much smaller WvW population than SoR/BG. Right now JQ is in a Glicko sweetspot with RNG providing it some good matchup variety against top notch opponents. Getting to fight against different guilds and GvG vs. different opponents each week is a lot fun. The JQ community is also very solid. I love playing on JQ. Almost as much as ET.

My main account is on JQ, but it hasn’t seen any action in a few weeks as I have been leveling up my alt account commander One Angry Motha [RALY]. There are always great open field fights on JQ. A much higher level of coordination and preparedness is needed to be successful. I love me some lower tier action, but it is a much much much more forgiving place to command. There is no stress commanding here vs. up in higher tiers. I find all the T1 bashing for no skill, #1 mashing, etc always amuses me. The little open fielding we get here is childs play vs. higher tiers. I just love a lot of the people down here in the lower tiers and this makes the game more fun overall.

So here is what it comes down to, small tight knit community with fun = lower tiers. Fights = upper tiers. Its nice to have options for both.

The amount of fail at Wildcreek was funny again last night. Deja kittening vu.

I think you guys must have used 2k supply building various bits of fail siege. Catapults in open field, catapults end of tunnel near Wildcreek, arrow carts in open field, trebs in Rogues Quarry. I was hoping for more invulerable wall trebs from SM side! It would have been nice to have more than 2 of the 12 people standing on the walls of Wildcreek doing absolutely nothing move their kitten and backdoor those catas with me. We seem to be great with our countersiege but we can’t adapt very well to other tactics when countersiege doesn’t work.

The 15 omega golem train was a bit much. But I guess it takes all thought and planning out of the game which is seemingly necessary to achieve SF success from I have seen. No thought, no strategy, no tactics, no chance of failure, just walk around mindless #1 mashing.

Actually there have been anywhere from 30-60 folks each night in EB from what I have seen. However that equates to around 10 actively defending once you subtract the duelers, roamers, afk’ers, and random space cadets. We actually had a pretty nice somewhat coordinated defense of Jerrifers by the French Blueberry. I won’t hold is constant requests for Shakira sing-a-longs against him…well…maybe only a lil bit against him.

Funny you mention that…Last night we had two of our newer commanders build siege along the road coming from SM to Green Keep, to assault WC…I had been on my necro Dhuum bombing some people (trying to get to 30k kills this week), when I looked back and saw 2-3 catas /ACs/various ballistas all set up….

Once I explained to them the invulnerable wall issue on that side of the tower, we all laughed about it…I fully expected to get flamed on the forums about it too, until ET peoples rushed that siege to kill it right about the time the gate went down. As the red circle went up in WC I seen the last bit of siege get killed….I thought it was a pretty funny exchange of failing moments.

Yes we did have some giggles in TS about those 3 catapults. I was thinking, WTF, I think someone is trolling me here on my posts yesterday afternoon about crappy WC siege placmement. Seriously I thought they were trollapults. The decision was made to abandon WC at the time and so we went around to kill the trollapults. The siege of Jerrifers that followed also included lots of interesting sieging that…well didn’t damage anything lol. I did have a lot of fun last night!

Something I preach to our people on a daily basis, “stay with the siege, protect the siege”…People still gonna run up to the wall and mess around for no good reason.

I was commanding for a few hours. It seems our forces had lots of ebb in flow in terms of size. I really wanted to keep Anz from upgrading to give us breathing room and XP for my underleveled asura.

Yah I dropped those cats and was one of the guys on them that got face smashed. I was calling for folks to come back and sit in the tunnel. Wasn’t tagged up at that time tho. I knew it was comin… Properly defended that tunnel is one of my favoritest farming spots in the game. Our folks wanted to go fight onesie twosies on in front of the tower instead.

i really dont know wut tier 1 u guys r remembering. T1 was never a close tier, sure there were fights 18/7 but it wasn’t close. HOD owned tier 1 follwed by JQ then SBI then SOS and JQ again. Each and every one of them had timezones they pvdoored in.

HOD had the best 24/7 coverage this game has ever seen. They would win the week by 200k+ maybe even 300k

JQ won by 100k+ many many many times. Same with SoS

T1 has always been a 1 man show. Now its 2 servers fighting for the top spot

WvW has been dying a slow death for several months. It started with the lower servers. Casuals stop playing, in turn WvW hardcores aggregating up to the top tiers for better competition. This kept the game fresh and interesting for hardcore WvW’ers. Massive playerbase fluctuations between servers bringing in a new top dog every couple months. Kept things spicy.

Now the farm system is darn dried up. Just lots of fair weather casual WvW’ers left for the most part in the farm. All that is left is for Tier 1 to cannibalize itself(not that this hasn’t happened in the past) and for the remaining population to get bored and quit.

There will be no server to step up and compete with SoR/BG this time. In a month there will be 2 stacked servers, and then in 3 months 1 stacked server. No real hardcore WvW competition anymore, just a couple of stacked servers pvdough’ing(pizza doughing) one of a couple weak servers each week.

The matchup will become SoR vs. BG and a third wheel getting roflstomped. That third wheel as it stands right now will be JQ/TC/DB. The lower tiers get significantly more matchup variety. T1 will be this same stale crap rotated with a couple servers. T1 was only the place to be because of the great 3 way matchup and high skill level. This is pretty much over. No reason to come to T1 for fights, just come to pvdough.

In the gut you will get the random crappy matchup where you face a far superior opponent, sometimes several weeks in a row like SoS vs. TC. Yes it sucks. But SoR vs. BG vs. 3rd wheel getting roflstomped will be far worse. Think back to TC vs. SoR. I am sure that was LOTS of fun for SoR. Ohhh no it wasn’t, SoR took the week off.

Eventually I predict all the people who “play to win” whatever the kitten that means in this game, will congregate on 1 server that destroys the rest. Welcome to EU.

I didn’t say anything about NA prime during a random Thursday. My comment was about reset. Maybe on a random Thursday night SoR will not have 4 map queues. I’ve played on SoR long enough have some idea about its population and how its reset works.

T1 is well on its way to being one of the worst matchups now. Transfer to the gut like Agg and get matchup variety. This is where the most fun will be now. The concept of T1 is pretty much slowly withering away.

Maybe I will team up with my old friend Flabby. I have been workin kitten my garbage truck driving skills. You should see how I handle that bad boy out on the skills course. I never hit a cone and always dodge those Spy Hunter style oil slicks like a pro in that garbage truck. kittens not easy, it handles like an M1A1 Abrams missing a track. Also I can sling bags of used diapers, old couches, and half eaten watermelons into that puppy all day long. I should have no problem fitting in and matching the skill of that crew given my new found love of all things garbage.

I was really enjoying the fights and fun this morning. Those CERN guys are starting to grow on me even if they are TC rp’ing yak diddlers. So kitten ed that I had to bail to go to work. I knew I should have skipped that whole work thing and pounded a case of Keystone Light and got all crazy town today playing GW2 on one of the nicest days of the year. WTF was I thinking, I guess a man can dream of what could have been.

Well most of the time I keep high class. Last night I was sipping Cristal, smoking a Cuban, listening to the Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 by Sir Neville Marriner and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, whilst being serviced by several porn star dropouts. I teach these ladies the secrets to my success by explosing them to NPR Nightly Business Report and my kittening kitten GW2 Elementalist skills. Being a great philanthropist is on my lifes passions now that I am fantastically rich and almost famous.

But sometimes you just gotta return to your roots and be one of the common plebeians and drink a case of Keystone Light. It is easy to lose sight of humanity’s plight being a 1%’er.

awesome fights in SoS bl against CERN-EP and co that random open field Server v Server fight we had was awesome fun, great to see improvement among SoS more of us getting on teamspeak and communicating.

What if they bamboozled you and decided to worsen their behavious? Would you put them in naughty timeouts involving whips, chains, and leather? I could get in to that. Please keep me posted as to where you transfer. I might have to follow. You guys sound super skilled, and totally chill, with a very happy go lucky attitude.

I transferred from SoR to SoS this past week. I can say there is no question in my mind that SoR would simply demolish any one of these 3 servers. Their massive 24×7 forces, widespread use of community TS, and excellent commanding at all times is pretty phenomenal. Ohhh and did I mention their massive forces? I haven’t seen an equivalent to IRON, TW here. There would be many good fights, but at the end of the week the points wouldn’t be that close, but who really cares about points anyways. At some point the new matchup system will likely make this all happen and prove my predictions all wrong. SoR is just scary good.

why did you transfer though if SoR is that good?

A few reasons. Mainly because SoR is just too kitten good. SoR didn’t need me, but I did learn a lot from them in a short period of time. I believe I can help contribute more to a smaller server. Also to meetup with some friends who also recently moved to SoS. Missed running around with my friends from FoE and a few other ET ex-pats!

I transferred over to SoS this weekend. I was interested to see how this matchup was going to play out.

It has been quite a blast! Ive taken part in every facet of WvW; zerging, small man roaming, open fielding, objective focused. So many good fights to go find.

Thus far I have been impressed with with SoS, transferring here was a good decision upon initial reflection. The people have been great and some solid commanders. SoS would been even more competitive if there was more organization around its community Teamspeak.

The most interesting generalization I can make thus far is that FA and TC are quite different in their battlefield philosophies. FA really does like to play for the fights and are aggressive. TC are just those nice guy roleplayers that seem to play rather defensive. I think TC are protecting the imaginary +15 cupcake star sprinkle muffin buffs obtained from completing the complex chat interaction with the old witch in her barn outside of Speldon.
