I dunno why people are too concerned about precursors. The cost or grind of the mats are crazy anyway. when you gather up all the gifts, it shouldn’t be a big problem. If you’re not gonna buy it, at least throw cheap random rares/exotics to MF, so even at the end if you get a random precursor you can sell it and buy yours.
graphic bug when in stealth and shadowstep: the character appears visible but the stealth boon is still there and no one else can see you but its very annoying having to look to see if i have the stealth boon or not just to be sure if im actually in stealth or not…
this happens very often also the most annoying bug lately.
Hum, personally I always played thiefs and warriors in every game out there, from MMOs to table top games, now in none of those games do a thief obtained so much stealth advantage as they do in this one. Thiefs in GW2 got about 70% stealth time, this makes them almost unkillable as they can simply run away when needed, stealth to finish opponents off and so on it goes. If we take any other successful mmo, thiefs/rogues were only allowed into stealth when they were out of combat with a midium/high cool down force stealth skill, in GW2 a thief can go into stealth with almost every utility many weapon skills and even one of their heals. Now how is it that you say not going into stealth whenever you want is game breaking when the only thing preventing you from doing so is lack of initiative and bad positioning at most?
It’s a design decision. Lots of things and some popular builds relies on stealth. Especialy in pvp and wvw. I’m not happy about going stealth whenever i need to remove conditions or when i need to root someone. But they designed it that way. If I need it that moment i cant wait 2-3 secs to pop stealth again. If they are sure about keeping the new mechanic which i can get used to, they should consider changing other mechanics also. Now lots of things got a initial cooldown with stealth, not just stealth itself.
I have 720 hours of playtime on my thief. I’m playing WvW most of the time. I always thought thief was a bit OP with certain builds. I never negatively commented about dmg nerfs but the reveal debuff really broke the core mechanics of the thief.
Being in stealth all the time is OP. That would change. But not able to go in stealth whenever we need is gamebreaking(at least for me).
How I use stealth for in different builds:
Root from SB speacial
Condition removal
Blind
Initative gain
Health regen
Create boons
Rescuing team members
Most of the time I use stealth momentarily just for the side effects. But it’s really impossible to operate effciently now.
I hope devs consider looking into the changes they made and find a different solution.

1000 gems seems reasonable for converting something account bound. But being able to sell it on TP may break the balance of ingame economy.
its ok for the pve side but not so usefull in pvp.
D/D: burst your target while staying defensive at the same time, run away whenever you want. Efficient initative usage.
SB: Put massive aoe, run away whenever you want. Efficient initative usage.
P/P: Either do nice dmg or nice CC you can’t do it both at the same time. Cannot run whenever you want you have to stay in your blinding pool if you want to survive. Inefficient initative usage. You’ll always find yourself hungry for initatives.
P/D – S/P – S/D: really kittened up after the nerfs and updates.
D/P: meh (personaly i’d never use this over D/D)
I’m a Gandarian player for a long time and only playing WvW(mostly EB) nothing else. This is my evaluation about the server.
It’s not about great fights or superb guilds, its about habbits.
-If there is no commander log out or switch to a BL with an online active commander.
-If we can gather enough zerg power to destroy anything, it turns out a loot bag hunting session instead of capturing or defending.
-There is an endless discussion about SM if it’s important or not.
-Nearly no one cares about dolyaks or upgrading camps. They are there for experience and karma.
-%90 of golem attacks from our side occur at late night-early morning just to troll enemy. If we capture an enemy keep, thats because someone bored and throwed some golems at 5am. It has never been a tactic. Golems = Trolling machines.
-There is always at least 10 commanders in EB without activating their blue icons just because their high esteem may get hurt or its tiresome. Because of that there is no active commanders in EB %70 of the time.
-If we have outmanned buff no one cares about losing a fully upgraded t3 tower with lots of siege on it. It’s normal to lose it because we were outmaned even if it’s defendable by 5 people.
-Gandara borderlands and EB are our first priorities, second is JP, third is daily, fourth leveling another alt, fifth petting the cat and maybe sixth one is the other borderlands. Never attack other borderlands before ours is fully safe.
-Our first supply sources are unfinished upgrading towers.
-If 3 trebs attacking, repair the wall but never build anti siege.
-It is impossible for us to put 2 rams infront of a gate. The first one comes instantly and if someone ask for a second, people will throw five and none of them are going to get complete.
I’m using 3 sets working with my build right now and mostly playing WvW. d/d – sb – p/p. The question decent or bad is wrong. They both have good uses but they may quickly become inadequate depending on the enemy and the situation.
p/p: single target range sustained dmg with good defensive cc capability(can be used to burst with quickness). Low survivalibty when focused. Best for preventing enemy burst and finishing low hp targets. I generally use it in mass group fights to dmg/finish of targets from safe range. blind is the core of this set. Also contains an interrupt skill which is handy if you can read enemy.
d/d: High single target close range burst. Weak to aoe and crowd control. High survival chance when struck. Using this when roaming around solo or in small groups. This is my dueling set.
sb: Decent range dmg with high sustained range aoe dmg capability. Best for mass aoe dmg. Spammable emergency evade button with teleport. Brings high mobility. I’m using this in all my builds as a secondary weapon. let me run away, let me aoe efficiently, let me get away from roots. Includes all secondary skills that i need.
I think majority of people agree that legendaries are cool and worth the cost of crafting meterials including me.(btw I haven’t crafted any yet)
I love the look of incenerator but it’s really frustrating that I can only use the skin on one single handed weapon for the cost of a twohanded. So for dual looks i need to craft a whole new one. Furthermore, if I’m using severeal builds for different encounters I’m f..ed up.
I can’t see any harm of them being reusable skins for one character after it’s unlocked.
At least give us a mystic forge recipe to duplicate them. Like “1 eldrich scroll, 10 transmutation stone, 50 mystic coin, legendary weapon” which is reasonable.
I’m really not going after 1 incenereator because I don’t find it cool enough like twilight/sunrise/bifrost in a single hand. So I wanted to discuss my idea on the forums. What is your opinion?
One does not simply run on the plains of Orr.
…Risen bars our way! But the will of a Guardian is stronger!
It’s like asking “Is a custom 67 Mustang worth buying?”, though you can buy a dozen technically better 2012 cars with the same price.
Today I saw lots of strange things in EB as a Gandarian. Hacks, bizzare portal fights(like 30 people staying in same spot, spamming defensive/offensive skills and port here and there like a tanky alien organism :P), neverending trebs, late night superior flame ram zergfest, grand theft golem action.
To me it was totally fun. Learned lots of things. Improved in many ways. Every week I see different tactics and learn how to deal with them.
Yesterday night we did the most organised attack to SM in Gandara history i guess. Some people sacrificed some fun to be able to capture it. It didn’t go flawless but somehow it worked at the end.
omg hilarious
I would really want to see a shapshifter class. Not like the druid in WoW but a kind of hybrid between nidale and udyr from LoL. It would be like;
F1 offensive shape
F2 defensive shape
F3 balance shape
F4 support shape
Attended/Looted/No Mail
I’m not key matting(?). Just suggesting a seperate control options per character like WoW for example.
Can we get seperate keybinding files per character?
I have a thief that only has a one F key. Considering that I build an efficient way of bindings for myself. But it really is not working for my elementalist. I’m actively playing both and changing the keys everytime is become a real pain.
Collosus Fractal:
If you’re holding Hammer and use your steal(with a skill on it) with thief, hammer disapears(debuff will still continue to tick) and both team members have to die and revive to reset its position to the last checkpoint.
to my experience resist only makes boss fights more confortable for you and for the team.
Sold everything I’ve got to craft a quiver and I also have a ring (2 actually but because of they are being identical i can only use one and thats another story) which makes a total of +10 resist. Also this means a bye bye to my T3 cultural armor dreams.
But at the end I realized that agony doesn’t help alot. It only allows you to be lazy in some boss fights.
You need zero resist to complete winterstorm, ocean, swamp, asura, jungle, char. It only helps a little in lava and dredge because there are alot of things around to dodge.
Team setup and knowledge adds much more than your agony resist. I saw people that have +20 agony, mindlessly diving into hordes of dredge etc and blaming the group because of his death. They think they are immune to anything with their imba resist?! Also even 20 resist wont save you if you’re taking the debuff to your face everytime when it happens.
You know what is hard at lvl 20+? Winterstorm ice elemental, dredge from start to the end excluding boss, Asura lab harpies and Old Tom, veterans at char map, breaking the hand seals in jungle. In a nuthshell, any little encounter that seems easy at first glance can become a vital thread if you lose your coordination. Resist must be the last thing you should worry about.
Try finding people you like to play, make friendship and progress together. You’ll get your resists sooner or later. You’ll progress skillwise much more.
I made my progress to lvl 16 with a guy who was a lvl 6x necro (he has 80lvl alts). He realized he was using a lvl 26 green weapon at the end when we start to struggle with 0 resist. We just LoLed as a team and continued. Precious fun times..

Add me and make it three. Cuz i have absolutly same problem with Bonedoctor. I can run around like nothing is wrong. Everything seems fluid then I use a skill and it starts to lag and increase every second till I disconnect at the end.
Omg that’s Shark Norris
What? Some people got them for a short time? oO
I want my Make-Over Kit too!! My Warrions needs to change to female!
no one mentioned about surgery kits?
That’s about managing the shop. If you carefully pick stuff to sell for real money without breaking gameplay for everyone, it can become more profitable than monthly subs.

-There is no endgame and progression in this game…The problem is no matter how easy or quick they make it and btw they will make it very very slow to achieve these new tiers, you will always salvage ur old tiers and move on, and if you want to have all classes fully leveled, this is a huge STOP sign so u know about it perfectly well and focus ur entire time grinding more and more and more, once u finally achieve it with all ur chars, it happens again, u get from level 80 to 100, u have to not only grind the gear now, but u also have to grind the levels, this is why ppl tend to avoid system like these, what if they want to take a break? what if they have multi chars? they enter the game see new content and then they go like, oh… i have to grind again… well no matter, i have more important stuff to do, im not paying it monthly so i can wait for t he next expansion, and by the time they reach 3 or 4 expansions, their characters are completely alienated from the game, nobody will come with you to do those obsolete dungeons, youll pretty much have to work harder to get ur character back on his feet, and thats just painfull to think for many including me, there are numerous mmorpgs out there who do just that, why making the only available grind free mmorpg tell us that we too wasted our time farming max stats as now they increase in time making what we have obsolete, the game was simple, u get max stats u stay max forever, it worked very well in gw1, it wouldve worked pretty well in gw2.
Yea that’s the point. They lost respect on the way. Now they say there won’t be another patch about gear quality. How can we belive that now? How can I know there wont be any new character levels or gear levels? How can I start my horizontal progression? Because they lied once(more than once actually) and I’m not sure what to do now. In my mind everything is possible from now on. They become another regular MMORPG at the end with different saturation levels in gameplay.

-There is no endgame and progression in this game…
40ish runs:
2 Arachnophobias
Lots of BLC thingy
5-6 exos
1 blue dyepack
1 BL salvage kit
Completely agreed. Kept me busy from the start and loved the every bit of work they put into this event. I’ll remember it for a long time. I hope they keep the same quality in the future too.
Sold mine immedietly for 30 gold in the first hour of the Act III (looted on second run) even if it’s a good upgrade for my thief. It will be avaliable for 10g tomorrow…
I’m 4/5 right now and I wasn’t around till the start of Act II. Never done the first questline.
The core issue is Initiative.
Whereas cooldowns force other classes to vary their skill use, Thieves don’t have that limiting factor. Instead they share the universal limiter that encourages them to only use their most effective attack, rather than mixing it up.
This.
Try killing 5 mobs 3 lvls above you at the same time. Thats the type of fight you should look for.
They should just replace it with Huttball.
Oh noes…. I did enough huttballs already…(still 10x more fun than capricon though)
About capricon. I just skip ruins and try farming as much glory as possible.
Btw we need mods not maps imo.
Yea I’m a glass cannon. Actually I’m another thief here as a victim. So?
Some people play tanky some go glass cannon. As a glass cannon i rely on dmg avoidence with a little mitigation. I have stealth, shadowstep, blind, traps etc to avoid dmg. So if I’m good at playing my glass cannon i should be able to do it with minimal dmg mitigation. But you cannnot mitigate and avoid that kind of attack in the screen. Combine it with quickness and consider the whole three hits(which is completed under 1 sec because of quickness) came from stealth. If he comes with immobilizing venom you cannot even dodge so your only option is break which you must decide under 1 sec.
Skip good play or bad play, is it normal for someone to deal 22k dmg under 1 sec before even you can see him? I played like this guy for a while and I have to say this is completly inbalanced. I can clearly say, when I pick a fragile target he is dead no matter what with this dudes build. The problem is surviving from other people later which is pretty much easy though.
Maybe the thread owner could avoid the S/P rouge. But there are times you really can’t do kitten.
It looks devastating and scary in sPvP. (confusion factor :P)
More or less, the offhand has no synergy with the main hand. You dont need vulnerability stacks if you’re doing condition dmg. You don’t need blind spam if you’re kiting from range. They dont go together. Basically you pick off hand pistol or mh pistol, buth both just gives you something other things can do better.
Personally I’m a P/D man myself. Low intiative cost, great bleed stacks, decent mobility, with the only real weakness being lack of powerful ranged abilities. With a shortbow the problem is remedied with increased mobility, moar conditions, and useful kiting tools.
It’s interesting that nearly no one uses P/D. You have stealth, criple, gap opener that all of them does nice amounts of dmg also with heavy stealth opener and bleeds. That’s a win/win combo for me. As off hand, i prefer D/D for the burst dmg to finish things off. Traps work best with P/D btw imo.
Most of the time they are moving like a hyperactive guy, throwing skills like there is no end which makes them too easy to spot. Pros actually mimic the AI clones, lengthen the fight (which is a good thing for mesmers), finish you off slowly if you’re desperate enough to die.
IMHO, in GW2 you don’t need a doctor but a medic would be useful, no need for a gatling but you can bring a heavy gunner, you can follow the lead of a sergant without the need of a lieutenant. There are differences between a squad, elite force or a random group. We are all soldiers but combining professions can create different results.
I’ve been going back to my free trial version of WoW this week. It was interesting to see how it felt after playing lots of Guild Wars 2 and getting more used to it.
The thing that WoW has is structure. It does that very well and if you like that kind of thing and don’t care for freedom to roam around and do whatever you want you might love it. It does let you do what you want, but the very core of the game is very structure heavy is what I mean.
Guild Wars 2 is more like an action RPG like Torchlight 2 or Diablo III in that it lets you make custom builds it seems. They don’t seem to try and force you to play a certain way other than what restrictions your class has. But the downside is that there seems to be no real gear hunt atm, unless I am missing something. So many people seem to be talking about getting gear for skins only, and that to me isn’t sustainable for the population at large. Imo there needs to be either a gear hunt like in the above mentioned games, or gear progression. And since they already stated there is no gear progression at max level I am guess it comes down to the gear hunt and building up a custom build you can live with and enjoy. That is what I am hoping this game is aiming for anyway, but I am not sure if they have any intention of making gear important at all, or any more interesting than it already is.
The other thing is that while the dungeons are challenging in this game, they are also very tough. Even the story mode will push lesser experienced people far away from them. That is something that WoW doesn’t do currently. Now it could be that there are major bugs and balance changes needed to Guild Wars 2 story mode at least for all I know. But lastly, there are no raids. For the PvE enthusiasts that are ‘serious’ PvE’ers this is a problem. I don’t think these people will keep playing just for skins honestly. Sure there are the explorable modes, but those are still dungeons. People might say they are raids, but I guarantee that community which is skilled will eat through the dungeons in a matter of months easy like they weren’t even there. Then they will get bored, and concurrent numbers will drop.
So I see them ‘having’ to add something like raid content to the game eventually, but just not with the typical gear treadmill so many are used to. I am guessing this feature for end game progression will later be added. If anything WoW at least added a sense of progression to the story through raids that was epic, and that I will definitely miss if they don’t add something similar in this game. Massive PvE battles would just be hard to do without.
No gearhunt please! NO! I always dreamed for a MMORPG like Call of Duty. Levels and gameplay time should define the options you have and your experience in game. It shouldn’t increase your toon’s power. Newly joined player should be able to compete with top tier dungeons and players in a few weeks. I don’t want to play a game like a second job anymore. I want to join it whenever I want and play against/with top tier players or dungeons in my skill area. I want to progress skillwise.
If I play Call of Duty X right now after months, I know I’m going to get good results and if I continue to play, I’ll have the chance to progress in skillwise for getting better results. That’s the gameplay I’ve always waited from an MMORPG.
Define challenging endgame. Even the hardest bosses in other MMOs follow simple rules writen to their AI code. I always hate to fight against predesined endgame encounters. Hard part is organising a group and fallow a perfect skill and movement rotation between phases, thats all. I simply don’t like the idea behind it. %99,99 of the time its about gearcheck not skill. %99,99 of the time mobs are unresponsive against your skill or movement inputs. Dungeons and leveling is good for learning your character’s capabilities. But endgame PvE content always failed me. It’s much like studying/learning a group dance, the more you repeat/study the more you succeed.
PvP is another story. There is no repatable perfect act. Succession comes from IQ and cool headed keyboard/mouse usage. There is no endgame. There is always people around your skill level. Mentally harder and mentally more rewarding. Come on this is guild wars. “GUILD WARS!”… Why do you except a complex endgame PvE content from it. I’d prefer more PvP type areas, more balancing, more fixes, than more dungeon designs.
Don’t jump on me like “you’re a PvP guy! go away!” I’m saying that “I’m a boss, I’m challenging and beat me if you can!” Dungeons are old PC adventures imo. I played, conqured and bored. We have fast connections, and well designed, PvP games today. Going top while PvPing is 10x harder than beating the most powerfull boss ingame. Any modern MMO without a good PvP system is failing today.
At the end; this is my opinion behind a basic logic and you have rights to refuse it all for your own tastes :P. I just wanted to show you another point of view for endgame.
