It depends on how you spend your time in the game – what I do rewards bloodstone dust most.
I convert daily 200 of each to bags of crap and throw away rest (have 10 stacks of each on mule and 80+ of each bricks in material storage).

Precursor drop is chimera.
Playing (on and off) from day 1.
Never seen it drop.
Do not play toilet games.
Bought 3 precursors, did quest for 4th.

I have created Revenant alt and found out I play her more then any other toon.
“Problem” is – from point of skills I like most the Sword/Axe combination… as for now I have Auric skins on both which looks OK IMO, but I am also working on Bolt which I will be able to craft next Monday (I am blocked by the Charged Quartz time gate on the last step of Zap quest now).

Do you have any suggestion what Axe skin looks good with the Bolt in the main hand?

You do not need to get banned – just give me all your stuff + delete your toons and you will have no reason to come back

I still have urge to try it – but as I do not want to delete any of my current toons and do not have free slot…. well

However I was looking at some videos and it seemed to me gameplay looks like this:

In Glint 90% of the time running upkeep on 3 buffs.
Using sword/x + hammer or staff.
Spamming autoattack 90% of the time.

When something goes south then use other skills then 1, deplete energy pool, switch to other legend, turn on some huge upkeep skill and switch back to Glint ASAP.

Seems quite plain to me? At least compared to Mesmer I play now almost exclusively.
(When compared to WAR I have played before it is probably on-par.)

Still thinking about trying it though – there are times when I would like to relax a bit instead of concentrating on perfect timing.

You understand AN has to make money somewhere right?

What kind of kitten is this….
I guess you would like to have precursor reward track too?
Or maybe legendary reward track to make it easy?
And on the top of that “I finished the game” title reward track to make all care bears happy.

I am on and off GW2 from complete start. Was gone for almost a year but came back month ago and bought HoT. I am quite familiar with the game, except for Revenant
As for now I am happy with my Chronomancer&Reaper nad playing Chrono a LOT, however – I do not like my WAR – Berserker elite spec did not hit it for me ….
This means I have one set of heavy ascended armor unused and looking for options. Guard is not playable for me (cannot play class without passive movement buff). So I think about creating Revenant.

On the paper I like the mechanic – sorta…
I really like Glint with option to run buffs for upkeep.
On the other side I am not sure how it works in combat? Do I have to use autoattack like 80% of the time? It would be boring for me.
Also – hammer as ranged weapon – is it viable? seems quite slow to me?

My idea was to run Sw/Ax + Hammer for open world. (Glint+something).

As underwater content got pretty much sacked and was never really popular I do not think this will happen…
My bet would be Kralkatorrik – Glint’s egg seems to be waking up and I am quite sure it will not make him happy.

If something have not changed (did this year ago) these appeared on vendor AFTER you have got them as LS2 rewards.

I simply do not want to be spending half of the time by refreshing speed buff.
Especially when all other classes have access to passive movement buff.
I get it – guard is really good class and this is supposed to be their disadvantage.
But for me it is big fat NO to play the class

There are always options to give access to such a buff even if you want to be this main disadvantage of the class:

- make +25% speed top trait where it will compete with other great stuff which is painful to miss
- make it Elite signet’s passive and put signets active on 3 min recast

Simply make it available as a trade-off.

So Mesmer was my first lev 80 in first days when GW2 came out. Played it with GW and Staff. Liked it. But then I have started WAR alt and everything was so easier.
After some time I left for a long time.
Then 18 months ago I have returned and for half a year had great fun – but with my WAR again, probably not even tried the Mesmer.
And then I have left again…
Came back month ago and decided to try something new as I have disliked Berserker elite on my beloved WAR. On friends recommendation I have got Reaper – man what a class… 2 HP bars, tons of AoE…

And then I made a “mistake” – I decided I want to craft other legendary and I am in need of Gift of Exploration. And my Mesmer had 75% map explore already so it was obvious choice.
So I transferred equip from Necro to Mesmer… just for a “few days” to run Tyria for explore…. it took me literally 1hour and I was hooked!
How could I ever stop playing Memser in first place?
Combat is so fun. So much utility. Chronomancer rocks! Wells! So nice synergies in traits!
Truth – dps is quite lower then on Reaper… But I can live with that.

Long story short – I have a new main. And crafting Bolt instead so Mesmer has another nice shiny

No xtra damage – it would be way to hell.
But each stat on legendary should have separate sigil slot(s). It would be only fair.

(Also Eternity should have 2 sets of the slots – one for day and one for night).

Yes – exactly – give the people actual chance to buy it old way – with REAL announcement and then change it to the new system.

I was struggling with decision if I should go for Nevermore or not… even did first step of collection… but now I have decided to shelf it – I do not like it that much. I really wanted to do gen2 legendary, but unfortunately only one I really like has zero use for me and the one I have use for does not have the vibe…

So I have decided to do another Tyria exploration and craft myself one of the old ones – I really like Bolt so here is decision quite easy. And Bolt will really fit my Mesmer

I agree with reaper for OW PvE.
GS + Staff – either you lazily tag everything with marks/wells/shouts or you can jump to melee swtching shroud/GS as needed. Compared to my mesmer necro has much easier life in open world.

From the AN point this would not change anything – Gift is not tradable, even if I would buy 10 of then it would change a kitten.

… as angry as I am with Gift of Battle change (wtf???) I decided to eat the sword and go to Mystic Toilet for my Clovers… times before it was not very nice to me (more then a stack of mats to get magical 77 etc). And with the current prices of Mystic Coins going up and up with no light on the end of the tunnel I was quite afraid.

I’m sorry but this is just wrong. With a zerk staff/GS and valk armor+rune of wurm+valk/zerk trinkets (on every peice), my crit chance is 30%. I get 50% crit chance in shroud, and fury in shroud, and GS 3 can apply 12 stack of vuln (24% crit) instantly. Therefore you always have 100% crit chance in shroud. So berzerker gear is a waste of stats that you can use on survivability. And probably should, as there is no where else to put it. On top of the fact if you use rune of wurm, and toxic crystals, you can turn that extra vit, into more power dps. Which means your power damage will be high period. Zerker gear is in fact not optimal for reaper, because of traits.

Saying it’s ‘not worth it’ when the crit chance stats are going to be wasted anyway is extremely foolish.

As I understand he is stating Valkyrie armor set has very low usability aside from this one necro build. On the other side Zerker set is optimal for both other light classes.

As for the necro traits and waste of stats in Zerker – it is not completely true – you just cannot use same traits
- you will take Decimate Defences as 25stacks of vuln is auto in group and even solo you have 15+
- you do NOT take Death Perception though as you would be wasting stats indeed – you take Dhuumfire instead for nice 1000+ fire ticks while still heaving 80%-100% crit chance all the time

ie answer for OP of this thread:
- if you would be asking “I am crafting my 4th ascended set – is it good idea to get Valkyria set for my necro” answer would be definitely yes.
- if the question is though “I am crafting my first ascended set – which stats should I get” answer is 100% Zerker – all 3 light classes can use it as optimal or 90% optimal set.

That is actually what I meant – there are combinations which exist but are not used at all or in some niche builds – and as I do not know all professions is why I ask this

There’s also character design to think about. I have 5 characters who use a sword but Bolt doesn’t suit any of them, so again it’d be a waste of money for me to get it. That may not be a concern for you, but it’s something to consider.

That is also my problem – aside of Eternity which is IMHO the best looking legendary in game – I like most Astralaria, Meteorologist and H.O.P.E …. and unfortunately I simply do not have char/build which would use any of these… :/

As my next choice is Nevermore – like the design but do not love it – which I have a great usage for on at least 2 of my current chars and 2 which I can see myself playing. And as I do not like Bifrost much….

If you haven’t done the story achievements, why not try them? I found Act 1 and 3 reasonably easy to solo/cheese by following Dulfy.net. They did take a long time though.

Also, defeating Mayatl the Fierce in VB gives you a MP that isn’t listed in the achievement panel (you may need the Itzel mastery for that, I’m not sure)

Mayatl tip is golden – TY a lot – it means I am now missing just one point to be able max everything in HoT – and still have JP’s…

As for the Story Mastery – I was thinking about it too – but last time I was doing this was for Lumi armor and still having nightmares about it

Yesterday I have spend most unpleasant day in GW2 ever … but I have got few of them done. Some of them are ok-ish but most of them is fight with bad design, memorizing route, anger with bad camera/targeting/unresponsive controls and even total RNG… if I could get my hands on on person responsible for some of them yesterday I would be prosecuted for sure.

Well – at the end if I am not wrong I should be able to get rest of the points to max all in open world (still 2 terrible JP’s to do but that is something I can live with).

What type of weapons is most used? Ie. across all professions&builds what kind of weapon is most frequently used? I did play only 3 chars enough to be able to say and rest is bit fuzzy for me… but from what I know top 3 would be like this:

1) 1h sword
2) staff
3) GS

But please correct me if I am wrong.
I am asking this because as alt-oholic I want to craft my next legendary usable on chars I have not even created yet

Will probably craft some old legendary I like – still better then buying another keyboard because of spending time by this frustrating kitten.

I do not like speed of animations for 1 and 2… it is like Reaper is moving submerged in the honey … and I am not even talking about how tough it is to hit something in bit of a lag.

I would change 1 chaind from 3/4 – 3/4 – 1 to 1/2 – 1/2 -1/2 as war has (ofc normalize dmg so dps stays same) and change 3rd part of the chain from affecting chill to doing so only on second hit of Chilling Scythe.

Gravedigger is bit more tricky because of 100% recast reduction but animation can be changed to 2 full rotations and 2 hits so it looks more fluent and bit less issue in lag.

I have got HoT just 2 weeks ago (was on hiatus from GW2 for a year or so) and /as my main driver in GW2 is crafting something nice/ was planning to have my target – crafting Nevermore.
Then I was going through material list and found out I need to max all Mastery tracks…
This is a pain for me.
I have no problem with world exploration with occasional crazy hard jumping puzzle or so… (did Tyria explore to craft legendaries before).
But these stupid Adventures…. omg… just to thinking about trying this kitten for gold again and again gives me spinal shivers

Really this is the single reason why when looking for the alt Guard is only class I never even think about.

But as it is now I do not have empty slot ankitten ot willing to buy it just for testing… and 5 out of 6 of my slots have chars created in a week from the GW2 start – so deleting any of them is not an option. Last years “choose a dye you want” birthday gift made me quite happy … 5 times

So what are my options:

WAR – do not like berserk, pity as it was my main long time has 100% map explore, LS2 with full achievements etc…

MES – 75% map explore, first char, will probably come back to her a some point… unfortunately chrono is absolutely AMAZING group support class – ie compelte opposite of my current playstyle

NECRO – my current toon, yesterday just finished 100% of HoT maps explore, really like reaper (even more then I had hated old shroud)

GUARD – low mule toon – cannot play char without passive run speed trait/signet

THIEF – even lower mule toon – never really played it – did not liked focus mechanic at all

ENGI – tomed it to 80, tried, hated kit animations and visuals with passion – shelfed it…

Actually – if I think about it – I can probably delete ENGI – it is just year old and have no feelings to it hmmmmm but making druid would mean to craft ascended medium set (have only heavy and light…)…. decisions decisions … maybe I can try Revenant – have full heavy ascended zerker with runes of STR set from WAR….

I do run power build with GS and am very happy about it – check Brazil’s YT channel for great videos.

I meant speed as run speed (cannot live without +25 perma boost)

And yes – I am well aware of Asura GS animations – it is one of the reasons I want GS as main weapon and most of my toons are Asuras – Necro, Mesmer, Guard, Thief…. all Asuras…

I play Reaper now – it is a lot of fun – really like it – power buid in full zerker (did not want to craft ascended Valkyria armor as it is usable only for necro – zerker is more universal.

What can “comfort” you is – if there will be a new elites it will take at least few years…

WAR is no go for me – really dislike elite spec, and played base WAR sooooooo much I simply need something different.
Reaper is my favorite now – tried it a lot now through weekend and it is fun – playing power with GS and Staff (for zerg events).
Druid as I have read has really low pwrsonal DPS – and as I am soloing a lot it is bit bummer (that is why I do not play my MES – which is char I really like otherwise)
Guard – yeah no speed no chance in my case.
Have not tried Herald yet – do not have empty slot but overall combination of resource pool & recast timers does not appeal me much….

IMO not carapace but luminescence armor.

After playing a necro for last 2 weeks I have used staff a lot – seems to be best weapon for group events tagging…

To make it viable outside of this I would suggest following changes to autoattack to make it more viable:

1) change the animation of the 1 to something which is actually visible to allow full usage of column attack – as for now it is next to invisible in the cluster of mobs&players. I would like some kind of greenish-blackish laser thingie

2) Make the damage instant when cast in the whole column

3) change the damage following way
1 target hit – 150dmg
2 target hits – 300dmg each
3 or more targets hit – 450dmg each
For each target hit recast time of all marks is lowered for 0.1sec
For each dark field hit recast time of all marks is lowered for 1sec

Make default recast time on all marks longer.

The whole idea is to make staff really good AoE weapon without being OP as single target weapon. Also it will change the playstyle from fire marks&switch to more active maneuvering style to hit as many mobs possible to get high dps!

My first char was Mesmer – at the start of GW2 actually… got it to 80 and still have a sweet spot for it.
Then there was WAR – played it a LOT. Unfortunately tried the Berserker elite and hated it…
Third 80 is Necro – hated it in vanilla, but like a Reaper – much better shroud.
Forth is Engi – hate kits. Do not want to play it.
Rest are lower level toons

I am returning to GW2 after almost a year (and before I played at start).
And I am not able to choose what to play
I have few 80 toons and can make another one too instantly.

What I like most – open world PvE, events & solo play
What I like moderately: WvW (mostly zerg) and very occasional fractal
What I dislike: RAID forced meta atmosphere, changing toons, builds and weapons

I am looking for class for HoT with OK/good weapon which is reasonably tough (not a glass-cannon). which fits the stuff I wrote before. It must have a perma self movement speed without runes.

PS: it would be great if main weapon is GS – not only I like the animations most, but it is also my only legendary

I would not bet it will ever happen – look at engi’s – no metter what weapon they use they spend 90% of the time in fugly kit… :/

Group specced reaper is bringing heal/lifesteal/darkfields/chill spam left and right.
Also prevents bleeding of downed teammates.
And best condition cleanse in game.

Is it not enough? I do not think so – it is just not as visible as 25 stacks of might + banners from PS WAR….
