PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
Thinking on it after a while since my last post, the only time a thief should logically be HS spamming is if they’re trying to catch a runner to take them out, or to just get across the WvW map faster. otherwise, it really shouldn’t be spammed at all if possible.
The only way you’re dying to a thief spamming HS is if they’re full glass. Meaning an apothecary thief running 0/0/6/4/4 can do 4K damage to them with a single backstab.
To be perfectly honest, blocks SHOULD pull a thief out of stealth if their attack is blocked. Though I also believe that a suggestion somebody made a while back should come into play…you get ONE chance for your stealth attack during a stealth. If it fails, it turns back into the auto-attack. Meaning if you backstab and the opponent dodges it, you’ve lost your backstab for that stealth duration. You’ll have it back when you stealth again though. It makes it far more different for thieves because there’s a chance of failure now for that burst attack, and also encourages playing smart instead of “lolstealthbackstabspam”.
I do know the best suggestion I’ve heard for dealing with this…make it so there’s a lockbox next to each trait, even if you already have them unlocked on your main. The lockbox determines whether or not you’ve completed the task for the skill. Make it so that as long as you’ve completed the task for that skill, the lock ‘unlocks’, signifying you’ve unlocked the trait that has that requirement ACROSS THE ENTIRE ACCOUNT.
What this does is it allows people to explore the world, and after unlocking a trait, all characters will have access to that trait. For example, say I’ve completed the story mode for Honor of the Waves on my Elementalist for Water XI. I already have a Ranger at level 80, who hasn’t obtained all the traits yet, and is missing Nature Magic XI. By completing HotW story on my Elementalist, the Nature Magic XI trait unlocks on my Ranger as well since it’s the exact same requirement.
You do already get other benefits. Take PVT/clerics and you become immortal.
In WvW you can die in a zerg, for sure, WvW roaming you won’t die but you won’t kill anything, if the target see that can’t kill you, they just leave.
In PvP will be just like WvW roaming, but that is kinda good to hold an area.
In many PvE bosses you find 1 hit KO mechanics that doesn’t matter how tanky you are, you’ll die. So in those scenarios you’ll only drag the party down by not killing the boss faster.
This is part of the problem IMO, there’s too many mechanics that encourage killing faster. Lose the 1-shot mechanics on many bosses, and that will help encourage other armors. As would making it so every enemy attacks much faster and actively dodges like the Bandits do in Lornar’s Pass, that would go a long way to fixing it. Because have you guys fought the Bandits that use Ranger Sword? Jesus Christ do they hit hard and fast, and they actively dodge! PvE with more enemies attacking that hard and fast would = <3
>implying overflows cannot do things as well as the main instance
Really man, everytime I’m in there, it’s an overflow, and almost every time we gold the pavilion or just barely miss it. Just because you have horrible luck does not make the system a failure. The same thing happened back during the Battle for Lion’s Arch.
1. July? REALLY? Not a mistake that they meant first of June?
I can not find any nice words describing how I feel about this. How do you want to keep people playing? Do you just want to kill the remaining small population of gw2?
You have already killed tpvp, are you now continuing with also kill the living world?
It is extremely unlikely that they would
1: Release it on a Sunday
2: Announce it less than a week before release. It is funny how all those other games somehow manage to keep people playing for 6 months without adding anything, but as soon as GW2 have a gap of a month or two the game is doomed.
The population in GW2 is far from small. I still see massive amounts of people around (both in PvE and WvW).
Would you rather have them rush releases so that you can complain about how bad it is due to too little time spent on it?
That’s because “those other games” have actual content and progression. Gw2 is relies on snippets of temporary content to keep players interested. It can never stand on its own merit.
It’s also free to play once you buy the game. Do you pull this same argument with the online content of console games?
You left the map, thus you don’t get rewards. Next time, don’t leave.
This right here.
ANYBODY who has played this game through PvE knows that if you leave the map, you forfeit any and all rewards an event would give. Stop acting like this is some travesty when anybody could have told you it was going to happen. As for the overflow, same thing happened last year, this is nothing new.
They need to make precursors craftable, it’d fix the problem in a heartbeat.
and triple (if not more) the prices of mats in a heartbeat.
Which is part of the reason why I also believe we should be able to buy bundles of T6 mats using a ton of karma. 50k karma for a stack of 10 of a specific T6 mat. Gives an actual use to karma, since right now it has no real use sadly.
I just thought of something better…has Anet thought about giving us some sort of TP (trait point) every level we can use to buy a trait? Make it so the traits cost a differing amount of TP (like the 1-3-5-10-30 SP tier thing), and it changes it so once you unlock traits, not only do you get to unlock a trait, every level you get another point to use like that.
It changes it to where it’s like SP, you get more and more of them as you level, and you have to choose wisely on what you unlock with it. Also gives better diversity since just like SP, if you make a wrong choice, you can just raise a level and unlock something else.
IMO he just needs bug fixes, and most importantly of all, scaling fixes. I’d like to see a group of 20 down him (if they’re all on the ball) as effectively as a group of 80-100.
I recognize that portal, it’s one of the ones in Brisbain Wildlands I believe. NEW ZONE CONFIRMED.
They should have given us the commands like FF14 does for pets.
Away: Pet disappears from the field.
Heel: Commands your pet to follow you and stay close
Place: Commands your pet to move to a location specified by you.
Sic: Commands your pet to attack a target (automatically, so AI control)
Steady: Commands your pet to do nothing until commanded
Guard: Toggle on to have your pet attack anything that attacks it or you, or to attack anything that you attack.
Obey: Does its normal attack until you command it to use one of its other skills.
I’m sorry, just having access to all this would make the pets infinitely better. Though I’d change it so Guard and Obey are combined into one, and that Steady and Heel are combined. If they need it to be contracted into the F1-F4 skills, I’d do the following.
F1: Toggles between going for the target and Heeling
F2: Pet Skill 1 (you choose which one)
F3: Pet Skill 2 (you choose which one)
F4: Switches pet
Add into it another button next to the away button that toggles between Sic and Guard. There, we’ve made pets way better since you don’t HAVE to control them if you don’t want to. It gives the option of micromanaging to the people who want to micromanage, and those who don’t can leave them on Sic.
IMO for seasons, the day they announce the new one, all transfers between servers should be WvW locked until the season is over. Oh what’s that, you wanted to transfer and stack a higher server just for the rewards? Too bad, you can no longer enter WvW for 3 months until the season is over.
Is this a kitten move and basically giving the players the finger? Why yes it is…but in order to balance the servers for WvW, you must have an iron grip on the WvW server transfers. Otherwise you have people stacking higher servers which messes up Glicko and all the other server fights, leading to a stale WvW like you’ve seen the past 9 weeks.
If this is intentional, I know the only reason why it is, the one thing that ends up nerfing classes across the board 80% of the time, the one mode everybody hates for this reason…sPvP.
If you like a hyperactive, spammy style, Thief is fun. Good for PvE, PvP, and WvW it has no problem tagging stuff if you are just casually zerging. Don’t know much about it from a GvG aspect
GvG, we’re usually at the side of the zerg in stealth using Choking Gas and venom share to help whittle down the main force by buffing the frontline and lower the enemy frontline’s healing.
Or we’re in stealth and ganking the opposing zerg’s back row, mostly the necros, eles, and mesmers to guarantee they get no support. A group of 3-5 thieves using stealth and backstab is usually enough to turn the tide of battle if they down and spike several backline support.
I had a feeling it would come to the Brisbain Wildlands, ever since the theories about Mordremoth popped up. Btw, I have a theory that 3 new zones will pop up this year. Why do I believe this? It’s simple.
Given that several staff members at Anet are pretty silent about what they’re doing and we’ve heard nothing of them for quite a long time, I’m willing to assume they’re working on new zones. What leads me to believe the 3 zones part? If we look at Orr, it has 3 zones connected to Zhaitan and the Orr region itself. Since we’re going directly into Maguuma Wastes, expect Brisbain Wildlands to be the Sparkfly Fen leading into the Wastes.
Not to mention there’s plenty of time to work on the zones and fix them if we go by this number. Using how long the first season of the living story lasted, we have exactly one year including the holiday events. If we subtract the mandatory 1 month and 2 weeks for Wintersday, Halloween, and whatever else festive they pop up with that has nothing to do with the Living Story, that leaves exactly 10.5 months. Divide those months left by 3, that’s about 3.5 months between zone releases. Which is more than enough time to fix the bugs of zones after they’re released, and possibly still work on new ones.
I checked it myself, how do you make such a skill worthless? Again, if you want to stop the spam Anet, just give like a 1-2 second cooldown between uses of weapon skills on a thief after the animation is done. Don’t just completely BREAK a skill like this!

If something annoys you it doesn’t mean it needs to be changed because you don’t like it. Annoyance =/= unbalanced.
I agree with this line of thinking as a whole, but with stealth, it’s annoying BECAUSE it’s unbalanced. Somebody enters stealth, you’ve just lost targetting and they’re invisible. It can’t even be removed outside of WvW’s stealth traps unless the stealth runs out or the thief scores a direct hit on anything, meaning dodging and blocking won’t even remove it when they really should (since it gives a counter to stealth). And with so many moves in this game requiring a target to work, the loss of targetting alone can prove to be a hindrance. That’s not bad if the stealth they used is a utility, considering it’s going to take some time to get that stealth back (at least 20 seconds), even IF they have the Hidden Thief trait and full points in the trickery traitline.
However, when you have a combo you can use to re-enter stealth that has little to no counters due to it being easily spammable from range and doesn’t require your target to be hit, that’s a problem. I’m not including Cloak and Dagger as a problem because it requires close range and for the target to be hit by the move, meaning the thief will be seen coming and the move can be dodged, blocked, or the area around the target can be turned into a literal minefield of AoEs.
Anet knows how thieves survive out of stealth it’s called S/P with Pistol whip and S/D with Flanking strike and evades. Martyring to get base stats improved not many people will hop on that train.
Nobody with half a mind will use S/P in WvW, it’s too easy to get killed using it. S/D I do agree though is amazing survivability if the player knows what they’re doing. And I’m sorry, but everybody who is thief wants better survivability outside of stealth, but to do that they have to gut something about stealth itself to even it out, most likely the access to it. Just changing Black Powder alone to a Darkness field instantly guts access to stealth in a way without it being overdone.

You are both wrong and right here:
The part where you are wrong:
The leagues actually create MORE varied matches. That’s just the nature of the swiss style tournament.well this is complete opposite of EU Gold which has forced SFR with Desolation for every matchup except 2 and so because of that its created a poor competition where coming 3rd when facing those 2 is actually more beneficial so you dont face them each week.
It’s wrong for NA Gold too. For SoS alone, one week of fighting the other T2 servers, other week fighting 2 T1 servers. Repeat, in that order, for the entire season.
Could you give us a picture?
I have to agree with you TC, I do dislike the D/P spam for the reasons you listed. If you fight any D/P thief, it makes the fight last longer than it should. I also agree that the change to the Black Powder should be done (preferably for WvW alone), since not only does this get rid of a really irritating setup in WvW, it also gets rid of stealth spamming thieves to a degree unless there’s a zerg to coast on using CnD.
For the class to become better at surviving, we need to show to Anet how well thieves survive out of stealth (meaning not that well unless specced for it). Such a change could even lead to them boosting our base stats.
It needs to be done, just so there’s more options for a ranger already, some of us don’t like putting full points in Marksmanship for 2 almost mandatory traits for a LB using Ranger.
Anet, give that man a “Master Trebuchet Operator” title! He deserves it!
The veteran guards and champions aren’t the pushover they are in WvW and the keeps/towers are far more defensible, these aspects alone should be incorporated into WvW to improve gameplay.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. Do you know how awesome it’d be for the keep and tower guards to actually be a threat to a zerg? I’ve seen zergs CRUMBLE to the Kodan of the blue keep in EotM just because of those Ice Bows. Imagine if all the veterans and champions of the main maps had that kind of power behind them…I get goosebumps thinking about it.
And now we’re at the point where no one even cares about score anymore because it’s a meaningless and hollow measure.
Except Tier 1, but nobody cares what they think because they feel anybody who isn’t playing for points is doing it wrong.
They need to make precursors craftable, it’d fix the problem in a heartbeat.
The problem lies in the game format, all PvP maps are about capping and holding points.
GW1 had more diversity.
To be honest, this is exactly why I dislike sPvP right now. It’s all capture mode, and there is no real other option for it. Add in some deathmatches, some of the point gain like for Crab Toss (meaning basically a “king of the moutain” type thing), a different capture mode to where you have a singular HQ, and losing it loses the match (like with that one sPvP map). Mix it up, stop making it capture all the kitten time, it’s boring as hell!
Adding on to my thought about “Underwater Outfits”…
Bubbles the Mermaid would be first in line at the Gem Store the day they announce a MERMAID TAIL for sale! I would LOVE to automatically swap into Mermaid form when entering water. It would re-energize the whole underwater world for me!
Other people might like skimpy beachwear. Some might prefer a scuba ensemble. Or even an old time suit with weighted boots, a heavy brass helmet, and oxygen lines leading up to the surface.
Just give my charr a fullbody wetsuit for use underwater and he’ll be happy.
I’d prefer for them to make some sort of music that gives you that “on the way to kill a final boss type enemy” feeling during whatever dungeon we’re doing for it. I had this playing on the way to the Zhaitan fight my first time through Arah because I didn’t like the music they had playing.
For those of you saying it’s easy, do it as a thief. You’ll have your challenge then.
I personally feel the fight is a reminder that the pets need to only take like 20% damage from 1-shot moves. It’d fix the problem pretty fast, as at least then they could survive kittens before becoming useless.
I want the same for my phants/clones. Maximum 20% dmg per attk… I would love it.
IMO it’s how it should be for all 1-shot moves against helper NPCs. Now regular AoEs…no, you’re mostly fine outside of WvW, Ranger pets actually DO need to take less damage on that front there.
Just to clarify, Canach’s billet hasn’t been bought yet. All Sheriff Siriam says is that the “noble-like” woman was one of his (few) interested buyers.
I have a sneaking suspicion said woman is Kasmeer or Marjory. If Marjory is planning ahead (like we know she likes to), she probably feels they’ll need somebody attuned well to nature to help investigate. Plus Canach has proven his resourcefulness before, and his need to help people (although it was misguided during our return to Southsun Cove) would guarantee he’d be cooperative.

So it wasn’t just me seeing this. Really needs to be fixed ASAP.
Lol that’s not that easy sir on a thief. Also, you’re thinking of Necromancers, they’re the ones that discovered the trick.
What did you guys exactly expect for your shards? Precursor? Free exotics? A bag of 10 T6 mats?
50 bronze for each piece. I had 2.5K of them. That’s basically 12.5 gold right there. Which would have been enough to buy me…what, a single zerker item?
Finally got it 10 minutes ago on my Thief. SOOOO happy it’s finally done. You can see the skills I used, my trait setup was 6 4 4 0 0, with traits 4 8 12 in Deadly Arts, 5 6 in Critical Strikes, and 1 9 in Shadow Arts. Was also wearing full apothecary gear (Superior Runes of Krait) to help with the healing. I was managing to stay afloat using the venoms to keep my health up, and there were a few troubling spots, but finally done.
I have to agree, it’s still the best dive spot in the game, the only other one being the dive spot in Rata Sum (dat drop).
They don’t even need a full on immunity, make it so ally NPCs take exactly 20% damage from a hit. That way they can survive 5 blows, and that’s it. It’d make them more useful.
Currently working on downing her as thief. Yes, I could probably do it easier on my Mesmer, but I want the extra bragging rights~
Ugh, very good point. The Pact has totally fallen off the face of the planet in the LS, partly because of the nonsensical waffling about whether or not the LS takes place after Zhaitan or not — but to keep ignoring it now would be really bad and further feel like the personal story is actively being invalidated.
I’ve actually gotten a made-up timeline for that.
You know when the Molten Alliance was going on? The events of Claw Island happened during that. Tequatl? The push into Orr. When Scarlet died? Zhaitan died around that point too.
I wish it was true, because then the Pact could come back into the picture due to Zhaitan now being dead, and we can move forward while keeping old characters, not keeping them out of the picture.
Oh god you remind me of that thread Zen, the one with the joke comics with Scarlet, Evon, and Ellen. XD
Though to tell a real life story, reminds me of how my friend became the leader of his anime club in high school. They were voting on the leader, and he stood up, and said nothing. They voted him as the leader because of that. Guess we’re a case of that.
The merchant was there selling it for free, but it wasnt a skritt so far.
Anyways it was available for non-gw1-players too, it’s a nice, safe, quiet, and easily accessible place to afk
Now if only they’d make it the home instance or a trophy room for all our deeds, I know I have a ton of stuff to fit that place with.
Was nice to check, nobody ever mentioned this existing before now, nor did I ever see it before now, on ANY merchant.
Not sure if anybody else has noticed, but there are now skritt in the Hooligan’s Route (NW part) of Lion’s Arch. The skritt karma merchant sells the Hall of Monuments Portal Stone…FOR FREE. There’s nothing there right now for those of us who have not played GW1, but the fact that I was in here says everything…we may see a glorious return of the place. Possibly even as a new home instance? Or am I slow and this has been noticed before?
I still believe there are in fact 7 dragons total, not 6. Why 7? If you’ve noticed, each of the dragons can be linked to a different deadly sin.
Jormag – Wrath
Kralkatorrik – Greed
Primordius – Sloth (face it, he has the power to easily take the surface, but does NOTHING)
Mordremoth – Envy (if the Sylvari are his minions, they look enough like humans and seek info to the point where he could be seen as being envious of the races)
Bubbles – Lust (this is a massive guess)
Zhaitan – Gluttony (he had a mouth that loved to eat, and he loved to kill things just to add their knowledge to his own, a literal insatiable hunger for people’s knowledge)This leaves a single sin unaccounted for…Pride. So my guess is a 7th dragon will be revealed, this one probably will be the most intelligent of the bunch, and likely a manipulator, with massive pride in his ability to subtly make any race or creature do his bidding.
Interesting. However its been stated several times, both on the wikis and ingame clearly state that there are 6 dragons. It makes sense to have 6 dragons as forces of evil as a balance to the six gods
Well, unless they pull what they did with the Six, and have another Dragon appear to replace Zhaitan, having absorbed his power, making it 7 encountered total. Since if you include the backstory of the Six, Abaddon was replaced by Kormir, making 7 human gods total mentioned.

i think the issue with this is that a LOT of people will transmute their default armors into swimsuits. Imagine running Tequalt with half the zerg in swimsuits lol..when you put it that way, its quite fitting since the fight does take place on a beach but imagine doing jormag with swimsuits
How is that any different than fighting in a hot humid jungle while wearing a trenchcoat?
EOTM isn’t WvW.
How is it NOT WvW. Are you not completing against other worlds? Or are all the enemies actually just NPCs running in a huge zerg?
Winning doesn’t get you anything. It doesn’t get your server higher ranking, it doesn’t give you a WvW tournament chest, it doesn’t give you anything. Plus most of the EotM maps are overflow, so your server won’t even get the bonus supply for winning it in 90% of the maps. There is really no point at all in winning, which is why most people don’t and just ktrain.
