Precursor crafting. I don't get it . . .

Very few people are complaining about the difficulty. In fact, it’s not really difficult, it just costs either a lot of time (not really an issue) or a lot of money (kind of an issue). It’s certainly not difficult for me to run around a map farming nodes or generating gold, but the fact that somebody could just bust out their credit card to exchange gems to gold just to bypass the huge gold gates in the precursor crafting sections really devalues the journey.

You are rewarded with a precursor largely because of persistence, not skill. This is what many are upset by. I’m irked by it too, but I’m still logging in every day to craft my ascended mats because I am going to make at least some of these precursors. I just sincerely hope it doesn’t end up taking years to just make a couple of them though. Don’t forget, you still have to craft the legendaries afterward which take a fair amount of time and gold too.

Exactly. I don’t mind putting a lot of time and effort into legendaries; give me 1000 challenges to do and I wouldn’t mind taking the time to do them.

Just don’t make me go around mining ores, it’s ridiculous…

Where are Fractal Rewards?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

The keys required to open those boxes are expensive to buy as well… so there’s like minimal profit from opening encryption boxes. It’s better to sell them off.

What happened to bonus chest rewards for fractals? I enjoyed doing fracs because it’s fun to get the daily bonus chest at the end. I got to frac 100, and I barely play fracs any more because there’s no incentive to do it (and the higher fracs bosses have too much HP that yield similar rewards to lower fracs).

I feel like anet never rewards people who do challenging content; you get the same junk for doing challenging things to doing easy things.

Precursor Crafting Overpriced?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Samnang.1879

I feel kinda cheated by the prices for the crafting. I was going in expecting that the collections were going to be an alternative to spending huge amounts of gold. But now there is this bait and switch, I rather enjoy working on collections and have enjoyed working on these so far. But then suddenly I still have to pay huge amounts of gold. I could craft several pieces of ascended gear just to make this one exotic weapon, that’s just a piece of what I really want. I don’t even want to look at how much the next steps will cost. I feel that the intention that I was given preceding the release was that the crafting would allow people to make legendary weapons by putting in a lot of time and effort playing the game, and not putting a lot of money into it.

This is the same as my feelings towards this legendary crafting.

I thought that they would let us do something challenging, and not have to farm gold all day just to get a precursor.

What is the point of making these legendary crafting if it’s going to cost the same as buying it from the Trading Post???

I don’t feel like doing those collections if I can just buy it from the TP for the same amount of gold… without having to do those collections. :/

I shouldn’t have to collect 3492348293 woods/ores just to craft a precursor… it’s ridiculous.

I feel like crafting a precursor is more costly than buying a precursor, rofl. Plus you still have to buy from TP, the blood, scales etc… so it’s totally pointless.

I also dislike the fact that we have to do PvP to craft the second generation precursors, like I don’t play PvP… so being forced to play PvP to make a precursor is really irritating.

What is going on? Why is GW2 so boring?

Samnang.1879

The game is easy. But there are ways that I can challenge myself; for example… playing a level 50 frac with casual players. I find that I have to adapt to their play style and that is challenging and fun for me (this is why I hate ads that scream for meta/exp, it’s boring when I don’t have to do much). I like resurrecting others, I feel satisfaction when I’m able to help others.

Meleeing in frac 50. Don’t use range at all.

There are tons of ways to challenge yourself, but yeah… I agree that it does get repetitive and predictable.

But when a boss is hard, people don’t want to do it. I don’t know how many people wish for “No mai trin please”. That is like my favourite boss to fight; she’s at least semi-unpredictable and semi-smart (avoiding the lightning aoe rofl, though i’m pretty sure that’s a bug).

Deleting a character in this game is not as big of a deal as you’d think, the only thing you lose by deleting a character and re-leveling it is the soulbound armor (which you can salvage) and possible bag slot expansions you invested in, otherwise all progress you did is account bound, just delete and re-level.

Well, getting to 500 artificer is annoying. I don’t even mind the costs, it’s just the going back and forth to TP etc.

Feedback: Mix and match outfit.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Samnang.1879

Samnang.1879

The idea of mixing and matching outfits may be great but the likelihood that they are going to revamp the wardrobe system so that the outfits have slots for the different pieces so they can be mixed and also go back and completely redo every single outfit they have made so far is unlikely, at best. It’s a great idea but it’s pie in the sky. It would be a lot of work.

Except it’s likely that each outfit already is coded for separate pieces. If not the newer ones, the older ones certainly are.

The OP’s post title says outfits, not town clothes and he mentions outfits in his post and wishes they could be mixed like town clothes so my post refers only to outfits.

The outfits look like one unit to me and since they are not made to be mixed and matched, it’s quite likely that they aren’t modular but one piece. At any rate, one piece or several, they aren’t designed to mix with units of a different piece. How, for example, would a Balthazar mix with a wedding dress? If the pieces are modular, one of the problems is where are the seams on each piece? Since they were not made to mix and match with other outfits then the seams could be placed wherever it is convenient for each piece, or no seams at all for in the case of the robes outfits. Seams being in different places for each piece means either massive clipping or large gaps between pieces.

Well they able to make a scarf go with heavy armor for example…

If they can make scarves go with heavy armor then they should be able to make Balthazar mix with a wedding dress if the person wants it that way. Customizing the clothes is part of the fun of the game…

Feedback: Mix and match outfit.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Samnang.1879

Samnang.1879

Outfit =/= armor skins.

You can still mix and match – that is, you still have the ability to – but you just can’t do it with outfits.

They’ve stated that outfits are going to be found in the gem store, and new armors are going to be found in-game. With that being said I seriously doubt that they’re going to change outfits into armor skins.

As sad as it is, that’s their decision and we need to either decide to deal with it or leave it and move on. There’s nothing complaining will fix here.

His whole point was about outfits, not armor skins.

And while I understand why Anet did what they did and do not think they tried to hurt the player base making the change, I believe they could implement a better system. Even in GW1 we could mix and match outfits with armors.

Let me give you an example. We have as armor skins a monocle and a top hat. Neither matches any armor set in the game. However, they would look wonderful with the tuxedo outfits. In fact one could argue that those skins were actually made for those outfits considering how well they match up.

Another good example would be able to wear the cargo shorts which are now a clothing tonic with the Jungle Explorer outfit to give a sort of Lara Croft style look.

I think it would be nice if outfit pieces were individual pieces like before and we could mix and match them with armors. Such as showing an armor headpiece with the legs and chest outfit pieces as one example. This was the way it was done in GW1, albeit in a more limited fashion as the outfits (called costumes there) were just 2 pieces. But you could wear the outfit headpiece with the armor look or vice versa.

I do think tweaking the system would enable the player base to enjoy outfits even more as well as allow more individual customization.

Yeah. This is what I’m trying to say. Have the outfits become separate pieces that could be mixed and matched with anything. Otherwise it’s a waste to buy one clothing item like Glasses or hats, if you can’t wear it with the outfit…

sounds good.

now give me a w3 character advancement system and 2 replacement maps for 2 of the 3 identical borderlands in february and i’ll be impressed. a bit of variety in the terrain would be nice. something like a forest covering half the map would allow for some completely different sorts of play instead of the small open places between cliffs and funnels that make roaming hard and zerging easy.

Mesmer portals are game breaking in WvWvW

in WvW

Posted by: Samnang.1879

Samnang.1879

Well if limiting the number of people that can use a portal is off the table then here is my list of what other classes need to bring to WvW.

Thief – Shadow Refuge is good but maybe allow it to effect more players at once since portal can work on the entire server, bring a whole new meaning to invisible Zerg!

Engineer – Why the hell can they not repair siege equipment??? The profession is ENGINEER it’s what they do! Engineer should be allowed to repair siege after it’s been placed using up the supply they have. For balance reasons maybe make the amount of supply needed to repair something be 2-3 times the cost of building it (the amount of health to supply required). Just give Engineer something to do other than SPAM GRENADES ALL DAY! It would be really nice and make them unique and required in WvW just like Mesmer’s currently are.

I agree on Engineer being able to repair sieges with the Wrench kit.

Right now, the wrench kit is completely useless.

Your Thoughts: Are Elementalists worth making

If you are a mage at heart, then yes. If you usually play melee in MMO, then my answer will be no.

The Elementalist powerful spells take 3-4 seconds to cast… which is a long time when you have several mobs hitting you. Therefore… it can get frustrating for someone who usually melee.

An elementalist is really powerful when the other classes support it… for example stunning enemies or binding them in one place.

I just need the time to cast 2 AOE spells and enemies will be dead in 2 seconds. And I like playing mages since my first MMO.
