Its fun. Ranger is back in the box and enjoying the DH greatly. Nice to have some decent and interesting mechanics, and no chitty AI pet.
Roy doesn’t play ranger, doesn’t like rangers, doesn’t know how to kill them on his revenant. That’s why druids got overnerfed. Cause Roy is not Impartial, neutral, objective. He knew kitten wel it’s an overnerf. I think Irenio’s sleep was bad the last nights, cause his hard work got shafted, by one higher up decision. Roy basically destroyed Irenio’s Druid, with a few number crunchings. I normally don’t judge people, but there’s about 99,99999999% probability, this is what happens, all the signs are there, since start of game. If one person, who clearly doesn’t play enough professions to have a balance grasp does this, then we have to speak up about it.
Mike O’brien, please set things straight. It’s not correct for one employee to take all the fun away from expansion content, that promised to look good in beta/twitch. Not that this is gonna happen but one can hope. Roy is on a hugely wrong, biased, unbalanced path. More then ever.
As much as I too love to hate on Roy as the enemy of all Ranger kind, do you have any proof that Roy is behind the gutting of Druid?
Not quit my Ranger, but having much more fun playing DH.
Its like a tanky spikey ranger without a pet, and some nice skillshot mechanics. The DH traits also synergise very nicely with the existing G traits/mechanics.
Currently Druid to me seems to be a broken/unreliable mechanic pasted on top of an already underperforming/unreliable mechanic (pets) – no synergy at all. It don’t want to use staff or TU in my build so I haven’t been able to switch to AF form once yet.
Gated play style (healbot) behind gated weapons (staff/TU). Bleh. So much disappointment.

I agree this nerf seems justified. Put your best men on it monday morning and get these mechanic nerfed into the ground Roy style.

There’s a “slight” issue with Astral Force generation.. and transformation gating…
If you only want to use Staff and Troll ungent youll probably be ok.
Don’t we suspect that they had intended to get some sort of Aspect thing as the main Druid mechanic.. couldn’t get it working.. and then had to fall back on the CAF idea as it was easy to implement at the last minute (aka deathshroud healbot).
By the time all this was done it had fallen so far behind that it was only viable to be the last spec to be officially released?

Obviously this isn’t intended. Otherwise it would have been clearly stated in the patch notes.
Its not like the decay was present before and its effect has just increased accidentally with a larger than intended value. This is a fundamental mechanic change to a system and has been knowingly and intentionally implemented.
I don’t think its an issue of ‘hate’, more an issue of lack of testing, knowledge and forethought.

That’s even more of a reason they should be included. After 3+ years of failing to fix pet problems they decide to create new pets with skills that work around the broken mechanics instead of overhauling the old pets.

meaning that when you heal yourself, you blind on next attack and heal for 600 without any healing power. same applies to anyone receiving your heals. I don’t think many understand how strong this is.
That is the best trait Druid has for PvP/WvW, by far.

I had thought to go Druidic Clarity / Celesital Shadow / Ancient Seeds on my Skirm/BM shout build.
Now – given how bad AF apparently generation is, and how we cant maintain a full AF bar moving from fight to fight- it makes traits like Druidic Clarity and Celestial Shadow pretty bad choices.
Will give Cultivated Synergy / Verdent Etchings / Lingering Lights a try instead. Cultivated Synergy has synergy with lingering lights. Verdant etching might be good, but I still think glyphs are in a bad place.
Didn’t we go over this during the beta? and didn’t they say they’d change it so that Staff and Troll weren’t mandatory?

Chrono Mesmer – still OP as frack and received no nerfs at all during the HoT testing. Safe bet to main. Will be god tier for months.

No. Because a Moa’d Moa will hit better than a stock Ranger Moa.

Live Vicariously is somewhat underwhelming too. Roll that and Natural mender together. Stick Natural Strides in the now empty minor slot.
Now create something that assists damage specs in the empty major – maybe something with stability as that’s sorely missing.
After the WHaO debacle I imagine they are being much more careful with what they add and what they tell us they are adding.
More testing stuff prior to putting it in our hands can only be good. Maybe.
Id like spirits to get turned into Wisps.
Make a bug report post about how missing your pets is giving you 1000% quickness uptime.
Maybe then youll get some fixes/attention. Make sure you also post about it in the Mesmer forum.
The most fun is when you down someone while you’re Moa’ed. That thing actually hurts!
In all seriousness though, being moa’ed isn’t the worst thing in the world. Like Ross said, you have 2 dodges and a dash to disengage with (and if the mesmer follows you, he’ll be off point too).
Well, a Moa’d Ranger pet is much much more effective than a normal Ranger pet. It can actually hit stuff that moves.
Durations were a problem yes.
But the fix was equally heavy handed in the other direction.
There just seems to be very little in incremental change at Anet… it’s always extremes.
The might stacks capping at 3 was somewhat unfair given how much boon stacking other classes have access to – even more so with some of the sheet the new elites can do.
The funniest part of all of this is that Irenio explicitly said that Anet was going to start addressing some of the Ranger concerns at twitch con as well. Well, just another lie from them it seems.
He’s got less than 3 weeks to balance/fix Druid and Scrapper. So he’s probably 100% focused on that currently. If you’ve ever been involved in project crunch time you’ll understand that that’s not much time to get things polished.
So lets not reach for the scalping knives just yet.
Waiting for a couple of weeks after HoT would seem sensible as a timeline for Anet to start disclosing what they intend to do with core Ranger (if anything).
After that time feel free to go nuts.

Also, not changing the 5 man limit on heals in a 10 man Raid might be by design?
A sort of position / skill check if you will, so you cant just rely on a healer to blanket heal the entire raid no matter where you are.
I know, its a very tenuous assumption.. but you never know what goes on in the minds of the Anet design team.
If they don’t tone them down (reaper/chrono/herald/scrapper) then this game will never be able to have another expansion without perpetuating a never ending power creep cycle.
The base classes will just fall further and further behind.
Maybe that’s the idea though, now the base game is free2play. From a marketing perspective they need to drive sales on the new content, and new stuff being superior to old is the age old way of doing it.

Everything Irenio has said is true. However, it needs to be applied across all classes.
Yeah. I don’t see why Scrappers/Warriors get to get 300+ heal per sec passive on Zerker stats… or Guardians and Mesmers go from X% to 100% on Dire. Shouldn’t they be forced into Heal stats too?
But then we end up with everyone using Celestial, and its back to square one.
Ho hum.
Had to add, ANet should really look into that “DPS done indicates reward”, because some builds are not meant to DPS that much. It has never been right, and especially now, the game should take into consideration “support” offered, rather than base everything on damage, which is a model they don’t even agree with given the latest revelations.
Aren’t they also tightening up contrib rewards too? Im sure I remember them stating that “everyone who turned up gets gold” will no longer be a thing. Might be even harder for the druid healbot to get contrib depending on their system implementation/tweaks.
This is why we cant have nice things…

Ranger is about pet-management, like it or not. That isn’t going away, ever. However, rangers being able to ignore any cc infinitely on a 10 second ICD regardless of the fact that the pet can be dead, and therefore there is no downside to taking the trait.
Anybody defending this bug or insulting me with false xenophobic statements is frankly delusional, because this isn’t working as intended.

Change the trait so that it isn’t pet-based. I don’t want to screw my pet with CC anyway.
Yeah. Maybe if it was a trait that didn’t affect the pet and did something like hide the Ranger in plain sight.
I miss Hide in Plain Sight a lot

I hope you will also be complaining about herald and scrappers perma stability access too OP? That seems even more anti-fun than a 60sec CD stunbreak.
