The elite specs should be able to work with several playstyles, with the talents tailoring them to whatever style your character works best with. The necro reaper, for example, can work for a condition based style, or a power based one, or even a hybrid of the two, allowing all sorts of necromancers to pick it up without having to change their specs too much.

The Druid is apparently only good for people who want to heal and heal super well. People simply want it to offer build diversity, so that people who are primarily dps can take it and, say, concentrate on the control aspect rather than the healing one. Or heck, give it an ability to do a little healing whenever it does damage and people would probably be ok with that.

But there are other ways to diversify a Druid build than just DPS. How about another support build or a tank build. Why does everything have to always be about dps, simply to be considered “diverse”?

Are people forgetting that Druid is just one of three trait lines you’ll have active at once? The fact is you can have good DPS and healing within the same build, by combining Druid with other more offensive traits, and swapping between staff and a different weapon. You can even make the staff Clerics and the other weapon Berserkers, for instance. There’s plenty of other trait lines and weapons that focus more on support or healing, but it’s why they give us access to 3 trait lines and 2 weapon sets.

Exactly. There is no need to add more support or anything else to Druid before it gets more damage, because Ranger core already has enough support options to cover Druid with two Ranger trait lines. The absolute last thing this game needs is tank setups.

The best defense is a good offense. The Druid line needs damage options, or at least a reshuffle to allow DPS builds to be used without wasting trait slots on healing options. Healing options are only good when you use a staff and are playing with a party. Pretty narrow build options. We just want diversity, it will not affect healing druids at all.

You realize daze on swapping to any weapon baseline would be pretty broken right? With Ancient Seed it would pretty much mean an entangle on every weapon swap…

Ancient Seeds will get a longer ICD, mark my words. We can already have the ability and methods to proc it every 10s, it will generate tons of QQ and it will be nerfed to 20s. I’m betting. Which is why I think putting daze on swap will be fine. You could even put an 18s CD on the daze on swap if they didn’t increase the ICD on Ancient Seeds and it would still be miles better.

Increase to Ancient Seeds ICD would further reduce the usefulness of Druid traitline to a non-healbot build.

That and the movement speed trait will literally be the only things going for the druid line from a dps perspective once Irenio nerfs the baseline heals to require healing stat gear for effectiveness.

Eh? So We’re being forced into specific gear sets (healing) inorder to do ok healing, and thus sacrificing even more damage – if not CA form becomes extremely lacklustre – as heal is almost all it can do..

I hope there are some compensation tweaks of an offensive nature coming our way too so we can compete with rev/reaper/chrono and scrapper. So far the changes coming from Irenio sound very “Roy” influenced.

Natural Stride - perma passive swiftness

Personally I’d be fine with this and would even call it an improvement:

  • Natural Stride reduced from 33% to 25% movement speed
  • Natural Stride no longer removed by Cripple/Chill/Immobilize
  • Natural Stride swapped with Natural Mender

Making Natural Mender a choice rather than mandatory would be a vast improvement. I could suddenly pair movement speed with Glyphs or stealth.

However I also want to say that they don’t want all traits to be the same and this Ranger trait is far more interesting because it comes with 2 important downsides in exchange for the extra movement speed:

  • cripple/chill/immobilize hits harder
  • pets don’t get the benefit and become very easy to kite

The passive amount is still the same as swiftness and Rangers already have access to that if they want it and it even affects their pet.

Don’t forget they need to give rangers a teleport and boon stripping at the same time. They should probably remove the 60 sec cooldown on pet deaths too. Don’t want it to seem like mesmers have an unfair advantage.

Or if they don’t want to remove the extra cooldown on pet death they can just apply it to mesmers. Something like if you kill their phantasms before they shatter them the skill goes on a 60 second cooldown.

Exactly. The balance door swings both ways.

Pack is pretty good, and taking Natural Strides means you cant take the 3sec stealth/superspeed on CA form exit. Which is also useful.

Core ranger issues dont come under druid issues.

And you dont HAVE to use the elite.

However

We do HAVE to get some development time on core Ranger issues too. So it is on par with some of the ludicrous sheet the other classes ( and their Elites) can pull off.

Ive seen some insane stuff (boon stacking and DPS) done by Engy(Scrapper), Mesmer(Chrono), Rev, Necro(Reaper) on streams over the weekend. The same sort of stuff that made Roy instantly nerf WHaO.

Swapping to Celestial Avatar procs Quick Draw, but none of the skills will trigger it, so you never get the cooldown reduction.

It then goes on cooldown so you often cant proc it when you return to normal form.

Very annoying. Not sure why it needs a cooldown as its tied to wep swap cooldowns anyway.

yeah trolls unguent pretty much negates the need for staff if you just want celestial form. Infact its probably better then staff..

This is not good since it makes this heal far more powerful to use with Druid than the other heals. Changes need to be made so that the heals and weapons are more balanced as far as gaining astral force.

Exactly, I expect Trolls is overperforming and I doubt it will be as effective in Live HoTs.

Try using any of the other heals and no staff and youll suddenly see a HUGE difference in building up CF energy, and your avatar uptime.

The underlying system of combat is built around area attacks. This is why the majority of base weapon attacks strike multiple targets in the affected area, unlike other games which strike one target – the one you have selected. Our system makes things like positioning and facing far more important and engaging; this also means that the concept of ‘AoE’ is not as easy to distinguish and thus handle in different ways.

That said, we are currently looking at systemic ways to help with player pet and minion survivability.

There’s a mistlock instability that reduce damages on untargeted foes. This could be a start and the technology exists.

Excellent suggestion. The solution is already present ingame Irenio. Lets make it happen.

Probably not viable.. Bit weak to condi, even with the glyph cleanses. I am however intriegued to see what that level of heal power and toughness will be like in CF or when using a Staff.

How can a Druid be weak to condi? The Avatar #2 is Condi Clease on a 1s Cooldown

All depends on how often you can move in and out of CF? what the cooldown on the avatar transform?

And that in turn depends on how quickly CF charges/decreases (think adrenaline).

Lots of mechanics questions that are currently unanswered, that play a HUGE part in seeing how viable certain builds / synergies will be.

Just put the time you want to know in the Upper Right Box, and “Pacific daylight Time” into the Lower Right Box, and it will convert the time for you.

Yes, the difference between the pre-buff WHaO and post-nerf WHaO is now so negligible as to warrant the question “why even bother doing it in the first place?”.

Cap the prot/quickness stacks fine.. but put everything else back and see how it rolls for a couple of weeks.

For anyone that wants burning nerfed…have you ever been on fire?

I bet it’s OP.

Ever had an artery cut? or been poisoned with a neurotoxin? They’re pretty OP in real-life too.

But in GW2 land, burning is significantly more effective than the other conditions, and disproportionately rewards the few classes that can stack it effectively. It just needs small tweak downwards.

Yet weve had years of cEle bull, and months of condi mesmers doing dmg whilst on stealth.

Didnt they nerf thief SB poison field so they couldnt do that anymore? and theif was never able to do THAT much dmg with a single poison field… The mind boggles.

ele doesn’t have quickness to begin with and the boons are frequent but short lived. that’s a difference.

and your salt against eles won’t get you anywhere, not like it has anything to do with it.

It doesn’t matter much, if you have permanent boons through permanent (re-)application or through stacking/copying long durations. The latter is actually easier to counter with any kind of boon remove.

Well good thing every class has access to boon removal.

Why is Roy on this anyway? Isn’t Irenio supposed to be our dedicated Dev as well as some-what representative? Why is someone not dedicated to our profession coming about wanting to nerf it? I mean look at Rev, that kitten is on dope. So what if 1 ranger has a nice amount of quickness to itself? Shiro legend Rev has access to like 50%+ quickness as well with just 1 utility skill. The kitten? And you want to nerf us?

Not to mention permanent fury, swiftness and decent might stacks in PbAoE and they don’t even have to blow their heal or stunbreak/condi cleanse to do that.

My only concerns with relying on druid for CC / heals / condi cleanse are:

1) How fast we can charge it up with heals/dmg

2) Does the charge decay over time when not in combat like Warriors adrenaline? Leading to a situation where combat starts.. not enough charge to go CF.. so cant do any condi removal.

3) Can the bar be topped up when actually in CF? or only when out of it?

On the subject of non-healer based druid builds…

I wonder if Quick Draw gets triggered by leaving Celestial Form?

I guess it would as that staff daze gets triggered on form exit – as Irenio made a point of mentioning it on the stream.

So you could CF, pump out some aoe daze, exit CF, then gets some back to back rapid fires on the go for a bit of spike – even more fun if you factor in the ancient seeds root proc.

I’m wondering if CF has a cooldown associated to it? to prevent players from ducking in and out of the form rapidly in order to max these sort of wep swap procs.

Ancient seeds should also proc off LB knockback too.. which is also useful for a Quick Draw Druid LB Spiker.

I’m just wondering why Knockback wasn’t included in the description and why Launch was included. Ranger has no access to Launch on any skill nor pet.

Even the new Wyvern pets use Knockback as well as the new Glyph. Ranger has plenty of access to Knockback on weapons and pets in fact. It should not be excluded.

In the video the dude says knockback 3 or 4 times when talking about how this is triggered… he even gives an example using the new AOE KNOCKBACK glyph with it to do nasty things.

Id be very suprised if KB doesnt trigger it after he said all that.

I’d like spirits to possess the ranger or something.. rather than being those instakilled stationary things we currently get. At least then the buff provided moves with the ranger and isnt instantly deleted when something sneezes in its direction.

Currently they are worse than banners in every possible way except cooldown.
