Apparently the devs assigned to warrior are very hands off, but hopefully they are listening all the same. ANET is always saying they listen to their community, and the consensus here seems pretty in favor of baseline Fast Hands, it’s an interesting test to their claim if nothing else

People will still continue to defend condition application spam as being a L2P issue, continually validating ANET’s refusal to address the condition meta problem.

This will never change, and it will be a big reason why GW2 is always so low on the Twitch viewer count list when world championships happen.

Every time a player eats all the hits from a Volley or 100 Blades, I raise an eyebrow. When red numbers from a channel ability start creeping up on 5 digits, it might be a good time to dodge and take cover.

Fast Hands needs to be baseline to increase build diversity.

Brawler’s Recovery is also critical to many builds, but alternative condi cleanse needs added into the game.

Make Signet of Cleansing available in PvP. Test to see if making it clear 2 conditions is viable… Condi application VASTLY outpaces condition cleanse in this game anyway.

Add resistance or some other condition mitigation into the Berserker trait line.

Those 3 things would be a huge help to make Berserker more viable.

Blind immunity? We have a signet that washes twelve conditions away.

but signet of stamina has a 45 sec CD.

changing it to cleanse 3 condis on a 15 sec CD or even 4 condis on a 25 sec CD would be way more beneficial i feel. a full cleansing of twelve condis is hardly ever needed.

anyway, i would really love to see getting “Embrace the pain” baseline and then maybe a tiny extra on top of “cleansing ire” like 5 sec of might on crit with burst skills or some extra adrenaline on hit with burst skills.

Merge Cleansing Ire and Burst Precision into a single trait, but take away the adrenaline on being hit. Then bring back Embrace the Pain as a minor trait… That wouldn’t be OP at all, I promise >8)

Honestly though, as critical as Cleansing Ire is to many builds, it could use some tweaking. And I agree Rush post mobility nerf is not very good because it is too easy to avoid, and it is not nearly as good a gap closer or escape tool as it used to be. Ele is def king of mobility now.

I agree warriors need a dependable way to counterplay blind spam. It is another condition where spamming application far exceeds cleansing. I want to say Brawler’s Recovery removes blind + 1 condition, but then we would be anchored to Discipline again (though Discipline will always be popular because it has Warrior’s Sprint and other awesome traits).

Even though Discipline would still be an extemely popular trait line without fast hands because it has many strong abilities… It is hard to make any build feel right or even work without fast hands.

If Fast Hands were baseline it would make Berserker builds more versatile rather than being Berserk + Discipline + ??? which 90% of builds will be. Also it would be nice to run trio combinations of Strength / Arms / Defense / Tactics to see what builds we come up with.

Warrior’s Sprint / Brawlers Recovery / Burst Mastery / Heightened Focus and several other traits will ensure Discipline remains a staple for warriors. Fast Hands is more of a core mechanic of the class and fits the thematic nature of a weaponmaster.

BTW ANET… If elite spec #2 is on the board, please consider WEAPONMASTER… Where F2 is a 3rd Weapon you can swap to :P You know you really like the sound of this (aside from whatever name you would call it) and have probably already discussed it, lol.

If they drop a condi bomb that applies 5+ conditions then stealth, the ticks don’t reveal. It is the direct damage from the initial application that reveals. I believe the ticks themselves should reveal since it is easy to apply so much DoT it is more like burst damage.

Whatever the threshold should be, I’m not sure… But it is horrible for balance that stealthed players are able to tick high damage.

The ‘outmanned’ buff, should include a massive damage reduction on incoming siege damage. For example ACs do 50% less damage to you while you have Outmanned on your bar. The 3-way nature of how outmanned works is an issue for this though.

Not long ago it was very possible for 15 people to defend a T3, fully sieged keep against a huge blob. Arrow carts were the main part of such defence.

But now ACs are virtually useless. Now you can’t defend anything if you are outnumbered because ACs can’t reach rams.

Thanks then for making karma train blobbing even more easy peasy effortless.

It was also possible for a large zerg to kill all defensive siege with 1 offensive AC. Let’s not kid ourselves and pretend ACs were perfect before. Higher walls seems to be a fix for this in HoT. I hope if /when (hopefully when!) they bring back alpine borderlands, they make all the walls much higher and thicker.

Both the spammable nature of conditions and this mechanic make for broken encounters. Spamming conditions for passive DoT should reveal you the same way direct damage does.

Spamming conditions is another problem that at some point should be addressed, but I think the best answer to that is giving more access to condi clear. Having sigil of cleansing clear 2 conditions is one example.

Condition cleansing and the way reveal work just need significant refinement in order to balance the game.

And stick to it please! You could change the perception about your game if you committed to doing regular balance parches (as in once ever 2 week, 1 month, 2 months… pick one).

The state of your PvP as it is now is not only bad, it is a huge disservice to your community and has more than likely turned more than a few people off to your game completely.

GW2 as a F2P game could become a relevant title in online game PvP if you simply made it your duty to provide balanced platform mechanics while also shaking things up on occasion.

I give them the benefit of the doubt on updates causing crashes, but not so much on only doing balance passes every 6 months or so when they promote this as a serious PvP game :P

People can setup arenas how they want and like minded players can stick together though. Empowering players usually leads to interesting gameplay. We need something, because what is happening now is just not working, lol.

It’s almost ANET’s balance team is made up of all entry-level staff who have no previous experience. I’m sure they’ll fix it to be some other horribly balanced meta in 1 or 2 years though!

Blademaster Trait CD reduction is not working for [Riposte], the skill fact reads as being reduced from 15 seconds to 12 seconds after taking the trait, but when you use the skill, whether it actually blocks or not, the CD is still 15 seconds.

So you got us all excited for the new camera and then decided to pin on the stability changes. If the camera isn’t what needs QA Im sure 99.999% of the community would rather you separate the changes…

What happened? Is the stability change throwing all balance out of whack like many have speculated? When you do the stability change I look forward to seeing how broken WvW is, lol. It is going to be insane, and the vast majority will not be happy once the initial humor runs out.

I like the idea of it, but it isn’t something I see a lot of clamoring for, it makes more sense to include it with HoT and beta test it instead of throwing it out there and seeing what chaos ensues.

People will love the camera changes however, release ASAP please!

If Resistance isn’t as spammable as conditions are and we still have limited condi cleanse to counter cancer builds… I think this trio will lead to the most cancer laden builds this game has ever seen.

I’m about to throw in the towel on hoping for all professions having suitable counters to the condition spam that pollutes PvP in this game. Damage over time / passive high dps gameplay are getting so tiresome, and news of this new condition along with slow (which piles on with chill) is somber news for the future of this game.

I haven’t read this entire thread because it started to become a lot of “I heard he/she did this”. Here’s what is happening and you’re going to see more of it.

There are 6 GMs with the power to monitor WvW in the live environment and all work directly under me. The shots above are of me (GM Proheals) standing in Bay after BlackGate took the point.
I ran all the way from TCs Gari into Bay visible and was a Guardian the entire time. No tool exists to allow anyone to switch professions.

We have the ability to switch to any of the 3 teams (blue/green/red) in order to properly police WvW. This allows us to visibly take action against players due to recent outcry that we aren’t actually there doing anything. We can also switch to a fourth team making us ‘friendly’ to all teams but we can’t communicate with you when we do. We also can’t communicate with hostile teams which is why we’re team switching.

These characters are separate from both our play and work accounts – and when used in WvW are only policing. Any interaction such as killing or taking a point (standing in the circle) will flag for audit.

This wasn’t a test. I was there doing live monitoring of the WvW environment. We’re looking for hacks, invisible players, siege griefing, and more. We’ll be present on all servers randomly for both NA & EU and have no bearing on the outcome of a match.

I can only imagine the temptation to break out the loot stick and spam 1 is overwhelming! If I had this power, you could bet your kitten that I would be at Eboneigh / Brownmane / Blackwicker camp killing all those kitten centaurs! I am so sick and tired of people not taking the eliminate the centaur threat event seriously. Centaurs are monsters and every single one of them, be it in Kryta or the Mists, needs to be hunted down and slain like the filthy flea and tick infested loathsome beasts they are!!!

Getting rid of hackers and cheaters is always great news, please keep up the good work!! And if possible, please introduce a friendly NPC like Heal-O-Tron in the centaur camps so I don’t have to constantly respawn to kill the chieftain there. I’m up to about a 3% success rate, which I honestly feel is pretty good, but an NPC healer would probably boost my percentage at least 5 points! :D

I cannot figure out what happened to my ascended axe. It was a Zojja axe skinned with Maw of the kitten ed. I hope you can help with this, crafting another axe at this point would be rather deflating…

I also had a Windcaller exotic warhorn with an energy sigil mysteriously disappear from my inventory last week but I have already replaced that ankitten ot nearly as concerned with it as I am this axe. Please help!

This would be a mistake.

Very much so, it would be fine for full servers, but for those with low populations it would be a disaster….

What if they removed white swords for servers that have the outmanned buff only (for objectives they attack, not their holdings)? There’s some ways this could be abused and makes the implementation much more complex I imagine, but it could be interesting.

Losing white swords could be an interesting thing though, it will be cool to see how it plays out as a test. And implementing all of these things now gives them time to get feedback and make tweaks before season 4.

One other quick change they could test… Increase the duration of RI on keeps and maybe towers. This might be another change that would need to be applied selectively.

Can we make squad chat work across maps?

I posted this in another forum last week when sharing thoughts on the outmanned buff and will copy it here:

I agree that personal player buffs would ruin the small group / roamer / havoc experience in a PvP sense. I hate to do this as I’m short on time and sure to not convey what I really picture, but here is a really rough example:

  • Minor Borderlands Outmanned buff: This buff would be relatively weak, because as I explained in my post it would be easy for servers to manipulate by asymmetrically stacking onto certain maps. Perhaps the current Outmanned buff would be all you get.
  • Major Borderlands Outmanned buff: This version would give bonus points for stomps the same way Borderlands Bloodlust would. Perhaps this is also when Borderlands Outmanned buff and Borderlands Bloodlust start synergizing together. Perhaps captured bloodlust has a longer cooldown so the outmanned team can hold it easier. Also maybe siege disabler (my thoughts on this poor mechanic in general are a whole other conversation) duration against them are cut down significantly. And maybe siege get a damage buff at this point?
  • Superior Borderlands Outmanned buff: This is where I envision the dynamic scaling of NPCs, gates and walls vs. PvD and night cap karma train behaviors kicks into effect. Generally, make it a real pain in the kitten for blobs to train through empty maps and make everything on all maps 1 color. (Someone mentioned concerns with it affecting small teams if it does not scale back down… But it shouldn’t be a problem as I believe they handle this in PvE? Not sure… ) Also, maybe an additional stomp point could be awarded over what is given with the major outmanned buff (that would mean if a server could hold bloodlust, they would get 3 points per stomp), and I think a big buff to siege damage could possibly be awarded as well, especially in how the fortified walls / gates absorb damage and how defensive siege repels blobs (don’t ask how this would work… It would take a lot of debate to come up with something that makes sense). EDIT: One other idea I just had that may be cool… Maybe with this buff contested waypoints open much faster… So instead of waiting 3 minutes and only getting a couple of seconds to WP into a contested keep, you wait 1 minute and get a 15 second cooldown before it is contested again. That’s just a quick thought that may need deliberation as all my other suggestions would. Also a buff for yaks would be cool… Make them faster, sturdier, and maybe increase supply delivery? When getting into discussing supply and the use of supply in building siege and upgrading capture points, many things could be done here to help low population servers via this buff. Perhaps siege could cost less supply to build or players get a supply capacity buff. And one more thought on siege: if a team has this level of the buff, the Siege Deployment Blocked effect should be imposed on enemies once they breach the inner most area of a castle, keep or tower. Also PPT multipliers could be considered…

I’m also not sure how and when current Outmanned buff procs (if it takes being outmanned by 10 or 20 or whatever that number is), but in a new system, the algorithm would take into account all map populations total as well as player distribution on individual maps to make sure a stacked server isn’t attempting to manipulate the system. For example: If Server A has a population distribution like this: Green BL: 3, Blue BL: 3, Red BL: 60, EB: 60 it should not be able to get the major buff against a Server B with this distribution: Green BL: 10, Blue BL: 10, Red BL: 10, EB: 10

One additional possibility likely mentioned elsewhere here: anchor the highest score in each matchup to the lowest score: Do not allow leads in excess of a certain amount (20,000 points comes to mind, but Im sure a more scientific approach could be taken to determine what number is best). Ticking at 500 and have a 20k lead? Sorry it doesn’t matter at this point.
