Burning Precision: Burn (1sec) on crit (0icd)

It’s only really good for spreading burning (because it doesn’t stack in intensity. Say 2 attacks apply burning in 1sec. You still have to wait 1 sec for the 2nd burning application to do anything.

Stuff that can happen waiting for that 1 sec.
- target could already be dead on the 2nd hit (wasting the 2nd burn)
- you could be down/dead
- burn could be cleansed

Let me try to give an anologie to best i can:

You (the wvw adict player) are working in a computer repairshop as volunteer. After learning how to do this you become skilled and enjoy yourself with your also skilled co-workers. Then on a good day the boss decides to advertice in a well read paper and website.
All hell breaks loose: your flooded with customers (PvE players)wanting a repair/fix. What would you do then? complain endlessly about the fact you have so many customers that there is a queu outside the store? Or do the best you can and keep your eyes open for more volunteers? Does your boss really need to tell you to keep your eyes open? Don’t you think your boss is blind to the fact that there are queus outside ?

Just thinking random thoughts, have fun.

False analogy
If the wvw player is a volunteer, then so would the pve player.

A closer analogy would be
wvw – repair volunteer
pvew – flyer distributor

The boss already has 5/5 repair volunteers (meaning he can only have 5 at a time). Boss adds benefits for being a repair volunteer. Suddenly your flyer coworkers sign up for repair duty. Due to a random selection process 4/5 repair guys got delegated to flyer duty. Now that 1 guy actually making repairs is over loaded cuz the other 4 don’t even try to do repairs.

The business suffers because it is performing 80% slower.

And the Q your boss isn’t blind to isn’t a Q of customers, it’s a Q of volunteers aiming to receive the benefits he advertised is given to repair volunteers.

It’s like a mix of 2 extreme swords (warrior + ranger). So on 1 hand you got the bleed → bleed → cripple from the warrior, and on the other you have the leap on auto that prevents evasion from the ranger.

Leap on auto is the deal breaker.

This is just crazy. With just sword horn, I get perma swiftness and fury. This patch just freed up 1 utility slot and my elite.

20 arms = swift on crit 10/15 sec + fury on immobilize 10/10sec
10 tactics = 0icd immobilize on cripple

Sword chain will give you near 100% uptime on immobilize → 100% fury uptime
horn 4 + swift on crit = 100% swiftness uptime

How the kitten have i not provided you idiots evidence? Let me post some evidence again. Giving eles all the possible bonuses they can get.

Signet of restoration: lets assume somehow, an ele can mantain 1.2 spells per second. That would be equal to 202 health per second. Now lets give elementalists regen which must be traited for, and CANNOT be mantained permanently. That would be equal to 130 health per second. Now lets give them cleansing wave casting every 25 seconds (the exact cooldown, which is impossible). That would be equal to 52 health per second.

SoR at 1.2 APS- 202 healing
Cleansing wave (1302/25) = 52 hps
Regen=130 hps

D/D zerker elementalist health per second: (assuming the attacks per second is roughly 1.0. Some skills are instant, thus raising this. Some skills take time and lower this. Running takes this “per skill requirement” away unless you remember to cast your 1 skill instead of spamming auras/ water 4/5 for your life.)
cleansing wave cd = 25. cleansing wave heal = 1302. Remember the cast time of 3/4s with an unspecified aftercast.
1302/25 = 52 hps.
Signet of Restoration:
168 hps.
Regeneration (we only get this when traited.) (50% uptime assuming): 130/2 = 65 hps.
Regeneration (100% up time) = 130 hps.
d/d elementalist total health per second without traits: 220 health per second (assuming that the player can instantly cast cleansing wave and it doesn’t have a cast time which is impossible.)

What ever is left in this quote is the problem. All of that is filled with assumptions. Burden of proof is with you. You ask for math, yet you yourself are lazy with your math.

In addition, you mention base hp and armor, yet you conveniently leave out what % of that hp is being recovered or how much uptime an ele/warr has on protection.

You are comparing 2 incomplete builds (I say “build” because you can NOT compare 2 skills in a vacuum <- sounds familiar). It’s like you are comparing a half empty (or half full) glass to a full glass.

So until complete data is presented, your arguments are moot.

I like your thought process for Revenge of the Fallen. I would prefer it if it did something else (but still tied to spirit weapon death).

Rise of the Fallen: 2x% chance to summon a new spirit weapon when it is killed. x% chance to summon 2 new spirit weapons when it is killed.

Spirit weapon army >_<. I know it’s imba but we are dreaming anyway.

    Traits:

Arms:
Blade Master (VIII)
Gain might on critical hits when sword in offhand equip. Sword skills recharge 20% faster.

This is really the only thing that caught my attention (well, this and hitting with off hand with main hand)

How about instead of might on crit (GS much?), x% chance to attack with off hand sword on hit (don’t tie it to crit) or attack with off hand sword every x hits?

Not when you can get 100% crit. At 100% crit rate you are always using all 3 of your gear’s stats. Power is always there. Precision accounts for 50% more damage on crit. Crit damage is always there.

I’m guessing going AA is for the desire to be able to control when you crit (from chance to always).

I’ll say it again since it gets ignored by most of the QQers.

A warrior (engg and ele too) can get at most 98% reduction to cripple/chill/immobilize duration while all classes can get 80-120% increase to cripple/chill/immobilize duration.

Do the math:
100 – 98 + (80 to 120) = 82 to 122% duration on cripple/chill/immobilize

Everybody can do this. The warrior geared for mobility, so you have to gear specifically to counter him. DUH!!

Warriors, eng’g and eles can get 98% snare/root decreased duration
Everybody can get 80% to 120% snare/root increased duration

So how to handle a warrior geared to counter snares/roots? Gear specifically to counter it. Use all condition duration increase sources (giver, sigils, runes, food)

It’s been a really long time since I last did pvp, how often do you maintain 25stacks of blood lust throughout an entire match?

You have 46% crit chance and 68.75% fury uptime. Even if you do maintain 25 stacks, it’s kinda sad if you didn’t crit on killshot.

But like I said, been a really long time since I did pvp. So take anything I say with that in mind.

I missed the part where the PVT guy is complaining about DPS teammates … he’s not dictating anything. He doesn’t care what gear his teammates use. He doesn’t care if it takes a minute longer to finish a dungeon. He’s not going to shame you for the build your using. He’s not going to jump on people if they make a mistake. He’s just there to play the game because unlike you, he’s not putting arbitrary goals on non-competitive PVE content. You don’t get it. If you did, you would see why the DPS-only approach isn’t appropriate for everyone.

He’s not dictating anything VERBALLY. He’s dictating the pace of the entire run. That doesn’t take words. Time wasted is just that, wasted. You are NEVER getting that time back EVER.

Add to the list of things he doesn’t care about are how much more work he is putting the group over.

Simple examples of stuff the becomes harder just by prolonging the encounter.
- ac p1 last boss is soooooooooo much easier when you burn him down fast enough that lings don’t reach you at all.
- ac p3 last boss is soooooooooo much easier when he dies before a 2nd set of falling rocks (or before stability runs out – this is so much better ever since I joined a pug with a guard that used hollowed ground and stand your ground)
- ac spider queen is soooooooooo much easier when she dies faster (less web waves)
- cm p3 sureshot is soooooooooo much easier when he dies faster (before stability runs out)
- cof p1 last boss is soooooooooo much easier when he dies faster (less self healing less aoe damage to the group less everything bad)
- cof slave driver is soooooooooo much easier when when he dies before the effigy arrives

Is anything easier the longer it takes to accomplish?

For example, do you think the guy that wants a PVE/WvW build cares if a single build won’t be optimized for either? You simply don’t understand or respect how other people want to play the game. You guys might have a point if you paid the initial cost of the game and compensated people for their time to play. Only then can you tell them what and how to do it. Until then, you have no authority to dictate that people SHOULD be doing something in game, especially for those of you appealing to the sense of shame by insults and downplay of people’s capability.

It seems the guy in pvt paid for the initial cost of the game for the other 4 guys in the group. That must be why the guy in pvt has the authority to dictate that the run must go at a slower pace than needed. pvt guys are rich.

So basically it shifted from a passive “keep it alive as long as possible” to an active “kill it as soon as possible” style.

I mostly only wvw (pug life) on my ranger and this change makes spirits more usable now because I get rewarded for when they die (and note, they WILL die). It’s way easier to get them killed than to keep them alive.

How we can bring back the rifle.

The only problem I see with a “charge up” is that I’m not sure anything like that currently exists in the game. If it doesn’t then that would require programming an entirely new system for it, which I doubt they would do.

Already exists. Look at trebs and catas. If you don’t wanna look at trebs and catas, look at the many environmental weapons in open world quests.

Is kinda funny cuz when I 1st made my ranger (spirit from the start only to swap to signet) I did what ever I could to keep them alive.

Now I want them to die asap (for Nature’s Vengeance). How do spirit actives interact with with the ranger’s stats?

Your next hit after moving x units grants swiftness for 5sec (where x is balanced around 100% uptime).

You should have enough adre with ax if you run with sharpened axes. Also, you have versatile rage by default. If you can drop your banner right where you are fighting you can pick it up and drop it via ` (not banner 5) for a quick 5 strikes of adre.

The builder got updated. Here’s the difference on a full zerk vs a sin/zerk killshot warr. I traded 46.79 epower for 5% crit (netting me a total of 90% crit for non burst and 100% crit for burst).

The builder won’t save the manually added stats (280 pow from signet and food, 180 prec from signet, 10% crit damage from food) or the buffs (3might from FGJ and 100% fury from FGJ and SoR). Also note that the weapon upgrade slot is empty.

Or remove the cd (or at least make it significantly lower). I give up a lot for it.
Things you lose:
- adrenalin (so no adrenaline based abilities)
- 2 weapon sets
- utilities

I ask because the condition damage stat is not the only stat to provide condition damage (I think that’s why rampager is the way it is: primary precision secondary power and condition damage)

Precise strikes is 1 stack of bleed for 3 sec at 33% on crit (no icd).

With dire (vs rabid) you are trading 28% crit for 6930 hp. Not bad I guess.

The most important thing (and the 1st thing) you should do is “tell your group if you don’t know the fight/dungeon”. After doing that, people will tell you what you need to do (and what utilities that can do the job).

Simple stuff that isn’t inline with “power swords” or “bleeding axes”
- How often where swords used to cut down trees instead of axes?
- How often does a foil (type of sword) hack off a limb?

As long as we’re dreaming, I would like to have a “burst bleed” (high intensity low duration) on sword somewhere. Something like 15 stacks of bleed for 1 sec. Maybe this instead of the current sword burst or final thrust.

Some stuff to think about (not contesting that a mesmer lacks stuff in zvz, in fact I believe it does lack zvz abilities).

The only thing I consider as a “real” zvz ability is veil (for its lack of a target cap). Anything with a target cap is “wasted” in a zerg because “you do not control which 5 you are gonna affect” be it damage, boons, or any other utility.

Timewarp/null field/ mass invi are “pulsing” 5 target <apply effect> abilities. In a clump of 5+, you as the caster do not control who gets the <apply effect>. Null field is less affected by the target cap because its effect is to remove ALL boons/conditions from enemies/allies (not 1 or 2 at a time).

Back to veil. Sure, 2 (or 3 traited) sec of invi seems like nothing. But any real organized zerg wont just use 1 veil. They are gonna use way more to stack that invi higher. Just 3 stacked veils specced for +1 sec invi gives 9sec of invi.

I take it all back if veil no longer stacks.
