true, totally forgot about that, it might even re-open old charges for the potential colaboration between her and scarlett if she sided with the sylvari. Someone that might be of importance here might also be countess anise, since she apperantly is plotting something in the background anyway.
but the question about how to handle sylvari is not only political for the races and nations, it is also of importance for the 3 orders. they formed the pact together, following Trahearn, would they still do so? Is Trahearn even still alive? We don’t even know if Trahearn hasn’t been fullfilling Mordremoths will the whole time unknowingly(I am refering to the scene where he planted calebolg in the Heart of Orr and vines suddenly grew everywhere, back in the day this seemed to be a happy scene, but nowadays, vines and everything that is green is the enemy.)
It also doesn’t make the sylvari more trustworthy to me that caith ran off with the egg, and while we can’t blame her whole kind for her actions, it certainly does not help(thats one of the few things I could agree on with Brahm, Eir trusts her, I don’t)
But those things won’t matter to much on a political scale. On a political scale queen jennah is the one who will be in the most trouble, no matter what she does.
well, a little part of me still hopes for at least something interesting this year for my characters bday, especially since it is the HoT release as well, but I guess thats just a fools wish :/
Well the leaders would most likely be:
Norn: “bah, let them stay, if they turn on us we can kill em and then go back to drinking ale and boasting about what we just did!”
Charr: “not trustworthy, we would rather fight alongside the humans of ebonfalk!”
Humans: “no, just because they are dragonspawn doesn’t mean they are the dragons!”
Asuran: “does that mean we get to cut them up again to see if their organs changed?”
I assume queen Jennah would be the mainprotector of the sylvari in this case, but if she turned around and went all charr(which she might if the charr went against the sylvari and she did a lot for the peacetreaty with those, now that I think about it) it might become really interesting. As it is right now though, I expect charr and asura to be con-syvlari and norn & humans to be pro-sylvari.
Still don’t think the numbers are the mainproblem, the mainproblem for healing is in the design of many dungeons, that many bosses or dungeonevents are easier or only doable when you can kill something really quik, it is not about the long, sustained battles.
that and the fact, most of the time the damage you take is very bursty, and once you are downed, you are not affected by many of the healskills anymore(pulsing sigils and wells still work I belive, but regeneration or the guardianvirtue won’t help you getting up faster, but I might be wrong there)
it got confirmed that they are not working on one in one of the HoT interviews.
And we kind of managed for several years with many things, like no lfg-tool, no ego zoom(which is hopefully a thing of the past soon), no miniaturegarderobe, having to carry our dungeontookens around manually, having to bring gold to the bank and pick it up with another character and so on and so forth.
But just because we manage without doesn’t mean it wouldn be a good adition to the game, it is more of a “quality of gaming life” issue, like more inventory space for example, or endless mining tools, you can manage without those things, but it is just more comfortable with them, and there is no reason for it not to be there(well except for the fact they wouldn’t be able to charge money for it, unlike for the examples I just named, guess that is all the reason there is to it).
Some armors are BLTP
Some are Karma (vendors scattered)
Some are Crafted.
Some are race bound.
Some are Dungeon armors. And most beautiful setups are mix and match…
Pure BLTP armors = very nice but you are not unique…
BLTP outfits = nice but you are not unique…ome backpacks are no longer unlockable, some are but for a price. either in actions or in cash.
What does BLTP stand for?
What were GW1 Birthday gifts like?
they were pretty sick, unique minis for all of them, I still log into GW-1 from time to time to see if some of my characters got new bdaypresents, althouth it is kind of sad I am more excited for the bdaygifts in a game I don’t activly play anymore than for the presents in the one I play xD
I mean to other MMO-Players this is probably no big deal but arenanet kind of set the bar for themselfs by their first game
here you have a list of all the cool stuff you could get, in case you are interested ^^
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Miniature
Just so you don’t get confused: Green was the colour for rarity in GW-1 xD
I belive it became commonly known after the Pactfleet was destroyed, otherwise there would be no reason for the soldiers to suddenly misstrust their sylvari comrades, leaders and underlings
Guardian – Hammer – Skill 4
Watch them fly, MUHAHA!!!
Maybe the 3rd birthday gift will be a SAB infinite continue coin. HAHA
Ouh man, that would be too good to be true ID
yeah, I love GW but this is almost as strange as Blizzard and their reasoning why you can’t save more then 9 decks in hearthstone.
I mean, if a skillbuilderwebsite can save stuff like this, it is really not difficult, especially since they kind of have the system already, after all, the game saves a different trait and skillbuild for PvP and the rest of the game.
but there are many strange desicions going on in all the big gamingcompanys, I kind of have gotten used to it, it was always a mystery why we couldn’t have an egozoomperspective even though gw-1 had one.
Before I start this thread, let me just say, I love GW-2 I think it is overall a superior game, compared to GW-1 which is to be expacted since it is by far more technical advanced and has the Charr as playable race(and I loved them since I first encountered them <3)
But I am interested to hear, what features from GW-1 would you like to see represented in GW-2 and what are you really happy that changed compared to gw-1?
Things I prefer in GW-2:
- more playable races
- I can jump
- the world is actually open
- underwatercombat(yes I know, there are many anoying things about underwatercombat, but I still prefer it over not having the ability to go into the water at all, or having it done as bad as all the other games. I think it would actually be pretty awesome if there would just be more weaponchoices per class and skills that don’t work underwater had some form of underwater equivalent)
Things I wish that they would be in GW-2, that were in GW-1:
- Polymock
- Displays where I can present my weapons, armors and minipets
- NPC-Teammates(I always loved when they talked with one another, especially Gwen and Pyre ^^)
- Cooler B-day presents
Things that were not in GW-2 nor GW-1 that I still wish for:
- a duelsystem
- the minipet-fighting arena that was originally planned but kind of discarded at some point
- an ingame function where I can rewatch all the story sequences my character has been through, starting at his creationcinematic)
Overall I still love GW-2, to me it is the best MMO currently out there with the fairest business model(although I don’t like the “most of the players wouldn’t profit from it so we won’t waste ressources on it” mentality they have shown in relation to reworking the Zhaitanfight or armorproblems for charr and asura, they can’t toss that kind of reasoning out of the window fast enough in my opinion).
Are there things you wish for that may or may not have been in GW-1?(except for elona and cantha, it goes without saying that we all want those areas to come back)
Guardian’s longbow got confirmed in the recently released WvW video. Yay for longbows. :>
REALLY!?!? Yisssss, finally!!! XD thx for the conformation ^^
This year we will reach the third birthday for our characters, that were created at the original launch of GW-2, the question is: will the birthday presents this year be anything usefull?
I don’t know about you guys, but I have over a dozen “level a character to 20” scrolls in my bank and I would wish for something a little more usefull(a few tomes of knowledge would be so much more usefull, for example, I really wish there would be something like a ingame merchant that gave you around 5 tomes of knowledge for each lvl 20 scroll you give him)
What would you guys think about a change like that?
I like Guardian the most, since it can buff the whole group into high heavens. The ones I find least rewarding is warrior, just because it feels so simple, you just stand there and bash things on the head till they are dead, but thats just my expirience with it, might change once it gets a specialization ^^
All of this wouldn’t have happend if we had a capable charr in command. You should have voted Gnashblade, he kept things going! Who was this Elen Kiel anyway!? A Lionguard!? She had nothing to do with inner city politics!
Gnashblade on the other hand was a merchant, he knew how to make money and keep things running!
I want all of you to think about this during the next election: “who was in command, when lions arch went to hell and back?”
GNASHBLADE NOW!!!
But what if they don’t get lucky a second time?
Speaking story choice-esc, would you rather risk one race going extinct, or four other races going extinct because of this one!
(btw, I would loooove the game to take such dark turns, the morbider and grotesqer, the better xD Goes nicely along the Kasmeer, Marjory theory of Marjory dying to scarlett back in the retaking of lions arch and the one we see the whole time is just an illusion made by kasmeer that couldn’t handle her death xD)
While your race may have done good deeds in the past, your roots are evil, and no good will blossom from a rotten plant!
This war is almost lost, even though it is just begining, all because of your kind, with the pact destroyed, the orders in chaos and most of our forces lost, while we can’t trust a fifth of the survivors.
You want to proove your innocence? Turn yourself in so that you can’t harm those around you, willingly or not.
You want to fight Zhaitan? Dig up ore in the mines and join the supplyproduction in our regulated workcamps.
Once all of this is over, you might be able to live a free life again, but for now, only a supervised sylvari in a controlled environment is a good sylvari.
If we want to win this war, we need a strong army, but who should provide this army? The Asura? They couldn’t even figure out how to protect their Waypoints. The humans? Their race lost more ground to the dragons then any other! The Norn? They don’t have armies! No, there is only one race able to handle this crisis, the Charr!
With Baelfires death, the survivors of the flamelegion are leaderless, now is the time to unite all the Charr beneath a single leader, a great Khan-Ur, and who else but the wielder of the Claw could claim this title, the great Imperator Smodur the Unflinching!!! With our support, even Bangar Ruinbringer would have to bend his knee in front of the iron Imperator, meaning for the first time in 300 years, the 4 legions would stand united, so no foe shall stand against us!
Trust in Charr, not dragonminions. Trust in iron, not false gods!
- Karnar Ironclaw, Centurio of the Iron Legion.
“You can’t trust the sylvari, they belong to the dragon now” with those words epic words Rytlock stated his oppinion about one of the 5 major races, and as we have clearly seen in the story of the demo other Charr share this though(I am referring to the pactcharr that refuses to listen to Laranthirr of the Wyld anymore).
Of course, none of the non-sylvari fully trust sylvari anymore, but the charr seem to be the ones that really don’t want them around anymore, now that we know they are Mordrem.
How do you guys think this might develop? The war against mordremoth has merely started, and by taking controll over the slyvari once, he wiped out most of tyrias forces in an instant. If he did it again, he might finish off the survivors as well. Since the expansion is going to focus heavily around this theme storywise.
Under these circumstances, if you were given the choice, would you rather fight alongside the surviving sylvari, or lock them away, because they would be a liability in combat?
There was no peace treaty in ghost of ascalon yet, in fact, the whole book is about them getting the claw of the Khan-Ur for Queen Jennah, so she could hand it over to Imperator Smodur the unflinching as part of the peace treaty. While the peace treaty doesn’t seem to be fully in action to this day(there are still diplomatic meetings between charr and human ambassadors) many parts of it have already be fullfilled(charr stopped the siege on ebonfalk, allowed humans to settle in the southern parts of ascalon again and released their humans slaves of which some chose to keep living in the charrlands, like the ones you can find in gladium canton). Part of said peace treaty involved both races beeing allowed into each others cities and lands.
I belive the answer is in the shape of quaggan houses. Most of them are round, so it would be possible to gather small air-spaces in them(you might argue that their houses in the lakes of tyria are filled with water to the brink, to that I say, they might have filled them with water when they escaped the depth to make it easier to move them around, and just didn’t think of it as necessary to fill them with air again since the waters in Kryta and the shiverpeaks are so shallow).
To the mammalpart: I belive Quaggan are closer to reduced amphibians then to mammals, since their babys seem to be better adapted to water then to land(they always looked like well developed toadbabies to me), and there is no cannon fact about a female quaggan beeing able to produce milk I belive.
I Like the largos, but I don’t think they would make for a good playable race. Why?
1: They are mostly armor, I am all for the Largos Armor and wing/fin-thingy to be implemented into the game, but the race itself looks mostly humanoid, therefore alone I am not to interested into them as playable race.
2: They are hunters, even more then the Norn they hunt alone and wouldn’t fit to much into the big alliance of other people.
I do agree with some other posts that the Tengu are most likely going to be the next playable race, they have lots of lore, there were tengu concept arts from the very beginning and their body shape might let them share some of there animations with the charr.
Aside from that, since my wish for Quaggan as a playable race is most likely never going to be fullfilled, right after the Tengu the race that is most likely going to be added in my oppinion are the undead. I am not talking about orrians(well kind of) but I am leaning myself more in the direction of elona here, with palawa joko still beeing a force down there. That and p3 of arah kind of hints at it as well, by creating the free willed orrian chicken it is proven that undead can be their own masters as well.
I actually liked Scarlett, but I don’t think she would make for a good revenant legend because her mainweapon was her craftsmanship, she had controll over vines as well but not enough to make a whole build out of that(not to forget, it would be kind of weird fighting giant mordremvines with our little ones) so I would say she lacks that defining fightingpower.
From all the evil guys that died since the release of GW-2, I would say the one most likely to become a legend would be Gaheron Baelfire, because:
- He had real powers, not just machinery, he was close to becoming a god
- He was no dragonminion
- Visual effects of a transformation into him would look pretty sweet(fire, ash and tons of horns, everything your heart desires)
- he had many CC abilitys like knockbacks or DoTs like fire, and the revenant seems to be pretty Boon and condition focused, from all that I can tell
There are not many other options from GW-2 for evil legends, most of them were either engineers(Like scarlett), dragonminions(like every Son of Svanir), or survived(like Faolain, which is also a dragon minion).
All that said, I kind of doubt we will see any legends of characters that died durinf GW-2
I would like to know what you guys think the specializations will get as weapons and why.
The ones that are already confirmed or at least kind of certain are:
Necromancer: Greatsword
Mesmer: shield
Ranger: Staff
Engineer: Hammer
here are the ones I think the rest of them will get and why:
Warrior: Pistol(he has many weapons to choose from already and I doubt he will get any of those magical weapons. That and because there are many NPCs with heavy armor in game that wield a pistol)
Guardian: Longbow(it is the only weapon the guardian can summon as a spectral weapon, but not use for actual combat. That and Brahm, who kind of solved his mommy issues might pick up his mothers bow at some point)
Revenant: No speculation here, since we don’t even know the full array of his regular weapons yet, but for some reason I think the staff might be only usable when specialized).
Thief: I don’t have any base to speculate on here either, therefore I guess rifle, at least I can’t think of anything else.
Elementalist: I have no idea
In addition: Do you think that the classes that only got an offhand weapon announced(like the mesmer) will get an additional mainhand weapon so that they get 5 new skills to, or will those just have to deal with less new weaponskills?
The one thing I want from necromancerminions is swimminglessons for the golem, I am still furious whenever I have to enter water with my necromancer, and the only one that doesn’t want to get his feat wet is my darn elite skill ID
The revenant is most likely to get a legend for each and every first part of GW, and we already know 2 of the ones he is getting for sure.
My question is, if you could choose the legends, casting the confirmed ones aside, which would you pick from each game?
I would go for:
Prophecies: Gwen
Factions: No particular one
Nightfall: Varesh Ossa
Eye of the North: Pyre Fierceshot
Since the game doesn’t even have a releasedate yet I would say you shouldn’t preorder it anywhere since all the websites that tell you otherwise might just run off with our creditcard.
I certainly hope so, I need a revenant rytlock statue that I can put next to my warrior rytlock statue
Rytlock is a tribune of the bloodlegion, therefore he would have to get rid of Imperator Bangar Ruinbringer before even beeing able to attampt becoming the Khan’Ur.
The one closest to becoming a new Khan’Ur right now is Imperator Smodur, since he is actually in possession of the claw of the Khan’Ur and gets supported by Malice Swordshadow(ash imperator).
Thing is, for a Khan’Ur to rise, all legions must follow, and even after Baelfires death most of flame legion is still fighting against the high legions, therefore we would need a flame tribune claiming the titel of imperator yet willing to kneel before smodur the unflinching.
That said, trust in iron, not false gods!
I actually have one cleric Guardian(I have 2 guards and wanted to try it out) and found one major problem with it. While beeing able to keep almost everyone alive in any kind of situation whatsoever, there are way to many scenarios where you need to kill something really quikly, and therefore need the dps rather then the heals(examples would be: having to kill flame legion assassins before they reach magg, killing bosses within their time limits, outdamaging the regeneration of some opponents).
There are just way to many situations where you have to kill something in a certain timelimit, thats the mainproblem I found while running a cleric build. the only time you can really get value out of a healbuild is when you are in a long fight where the opponent does lots of damage over time, because if the damage is to bursty and just downs people instantly, healing is just not valuable anymore But hey, maybe if we should really get 10 man raids in Hot, my Cleric-Guardian might get dungeonplaytime again
I wish they would create a dedicated duelarena, either a special PvP map that is not so vast and not in the rotation, or a zone in the PvE world you could use to duell(like the Arena in the black citadell).
I don’t like the idea of open world duelling but with a dedicated duelarena it would work without a problem, because having to create a PvP map that is used for teamfights for 1v1 duels is a way arround the problem, but no solution). This way, your game in the open world is not “interrupted” by people duelling everywhere, but it would still be a nice option for those that want to do it but don’t like to go through the hassel of doing the whole custom pvp arena nonsense.
We don’t know anything yet about the size of HoT, so I wouldn’t say it is little content, and from what I can tell it doesn’t seem like little content, I mean, a new class, the specialization, a new PvP mode, and a new WvW map is what is confirmed till now, and there are many speculations about 10-man raids.
How big it is really going to be, we will be able to tell once the actual beta is starting, but right now we can’t really speculate about the size of the expansion.
