“the blazing light” and “the emperor”, the first one, because it reminds me of the glory of defeating Liadry, back in queens gauntlet, and the emperor has the best sound to it, but in general I just use the latest titel I managed to get(working towards my PvP titels right now)
Can’t say that there is a titel I particullary dislike seeing.
What I fear might happen is that one specialization ends up beeing way more powerfull then the mainprofession and people get discriminated in dungeons for picking the standard, because they prefer it over the specialization, just like necros or non zerker currently get.
I agree with the OP, the racial storyline should actually be way more fleshed out, I want to learn about the culture of the race, their society and all that stuff, I don’t care about saving claw island for the X time!
And not knowing everything is good as well, that makes you want to play through the other options, just to see what would have happend, which makes the whole storyline way more interesting!!!
Consequenz is also good, I would be all up for the idea that Sylvari became the opposing race for the whole of HoT, that would be the very notion of a living, ever changing world!
And while I love GW, I agree that the “not many players do it/play it, so we aint chainging it” about things like the Zhaitan bossfight, or clippingproblems with asuran and Charr armor is total Skritt, there I said it(especially with racial armor, I stopped using the cultural t3 helmet on my charrmain because it had clippingproblems, at least cultural armor shouldn’t have those!!!)
So to colin I say: Having choice and several storylines you can’t experience as a whole on one character isn’t a bad thing, BUT having MEANINGLESS choice is a bad thing(I refer to your mentor dying at claw island, thats the one thing that really kittenes me off about the storything, while it makes sense for someone like Forgal Kernsson to stay behind and sacrifice himself, the other 2 make literally no sense and invalidate the timeline of this point completly! I mean, technichally that means if I went with the durmand priory, Tybalt and Forgal would still be living their lifes safe and sound out there, wtf?
So if I hear that “meh, they are not our main demographic” attitude about Asura, Charr and Sylvari once more from an arenanetemploye, only because they are not the 34% human demographic, I want to remind them that those combined still make half your playerbase, and NO I will not stop throwing a tantrum unless you fix cultural armor clipping at least!!!!
I belive we are mostly talking lorewise here, otherwise we would all be flooded by an amazon army of human females ID
And to the stats itself, I belive I read something recently somewhere about humans having gone back down to 34%, norn still beeing at 19%, charr and sylvari both going up to 15-16% and asura loosing some % and ending around 15%, sylvari and charr got a little help from the HoT marketing campaign since those both races make the biggest impression in the trailers(Rytlock as the main revenant right now and the sylvari as a whole race because of the new storyshift). But yeah, sadly most people still can’t see the glory of the high legions, BUT we have a way slighter difference in the % of female vs male charr than one might think, since females actually look nice, while humans have the biggest relative gendergap within their race.
Things I would love to see in Gemstore:
1: Alternate Racial armor(I know it is hard to design armor for 5 different races, but as a Charr-player I would love to see more viable options that don’t invalidate my Horns and/or tail. And while the cultural armor certainly looks cool, almost everyone wears it, I would love to see more variation there)
2: More options in the remake-kits, and I am not talking faces and hairstyles there, I want new beardoptions, furcolour, bodytextures, horns, ears and sylvaribodystuff(especially for the sylvari it does make little sense that the alternate colour options are not available for their body). Also a little less light colours would be nice, would love to see stuff like a dark red for my charrhair for example.
In fact, if you ask the imperitor he already said that same thing during the storyline… o.O
The problem with asura technology can be clearly seen in the Silverwaste encampment:
“Now cut the blue wire…” BOOOM
“Was that intentional?”
“You never know with Asura…”
The times their technology works, it works magnificantly indeed, but many other times it ends… unfortunatly…
hmm ok, ill be sure to stand in front of Logan when I am toss them all away. Pity though I had hoped they had some sort of use.
Knowing Logan he will probably just run away at the sight of it.
“Who else but Logan!?
It’s Logan Thackray, Thackray,
Logan Thaaackray,
running every single time~~~~”
-latest jingle of the Black Lion Music Industry, called “the running man” attempts to copy parts of the song or play it in your own Youtubevideos might end with Evon Gnashblade coming to your house and sewing you… with a knife.
I have some doubts that the humans still have much of an army left, as it seems they cant even hold their own against the centaurs and bandits
Well they theoretically have the Ebon vanguard(even though those are technically what remains of old ascalon) the shining blade, the ministry guard(which seems to be more of an enemy within his own rights) and the seraph, but yeah, that a race with as little technology and only primitive magic like the centaurs managed to bring their siege to the very doorstep of divinitys reach tells you a lot about human military efficiance xD)
btw: in case anyone wonders what the difference to the enemys right in front of the black citadell is: we charr built that thing right on top of our enemy, not the other way round ;P
When people want me to post my gear for a gearcheck I always mess with them until they kick me, even though I use Berserkergear, I just can’t stand Zerkerelitists and want them to suffer for judging other peoples playstyle ;P
Well I would sure as hell get really kittened that party of my body always go through my clothing(like my tail) while others suddenly dissappear once I put a hat on(like my hair and horns) ^^
Would be an interesting thing if they decided to let the sylvariplayers be the enemys all of a sudden, although I highly doubt that this will be the case(would be interesting though ^^)
And I can agree, from a lore-point of view us Charr would undoubtadly win the war, since just the ironlegion and the tookenforces from the ohter legions in the black citadell alone are bigger in force then the armies of any other race(I mean, Sylvari and Norn don’t even have armies, and Asura half golems that run rampart half of the time so yeah…. the only ones with big military other then the charr would be the humans, but they only have manpower, charr own all the tanks and big siegeweapons AND they are the only race that constructed the asuragate in their homecity in a way they could get rid of it in case a war against the other races suddenly started(the humans built theirs right next to their queens throneroom without those precautions, no wonder your species lost almost every war it has been in for the last 300 years)
I like to think of horses as something that once existed in tyria, but died out, the same way there are undead gorillas but no alive ones.
And the horses they thought to see in Edge of Destiny were just centaurs with midget-upper-bodys!
To the Charrkids in lions arch: Those are likely born outside of the legion-hirarchy and offspring of the black lion trading company charr or charr pirates.
While our species(humans) is greatly hindered during pregnancy, charrfemale are only hindered the last few days before giving birth, and after that happend they are fully combatfunctional again. The cubs learn to crawl and walk in a very short time and get placed in the respective Fahrar soon after they are able to speak.
So yeah, it is totally plausible for your Charr character to already have offspring, since he is around the age of 20-25 according to arenanet(although you can easily just say any age as you please for your lore, I personally view mine more around 30)
The concept of warbands does not only concern charr military, which sounds a bit strange, since every charr is trained in combat anyway, no matter if they are soldiers or not, but there are also warbands of miners, scrappers, farmers and many other roles that contribute in one way or another to the great warmachine.
On one last note: There are special cases within the high legions where a cub is not placed in a fahrar right away, because of special circumstances(there is one npc if I recall correctly, that tells you she got her cub in the brand and it took months to get it out of there) but no charrent(I combined the words parent and charr, I don’t know why but I didn’t want to correct it once I wrote it) would take the risk of their offspring not finding a conneciton to a warband in time and ending as a gladium willingly.
So, basically you’re saying that Destiny’s Edge should have slaughtered Glint, no matter what, because she was of the dragon? Maybe we should also slaughter all Zephyrites, because they’re clearly in cahoots with Glint.
Don’t you see where this logic fails?
Sylvari may stem from Mordremoth’s sphere of influence (though we don’t have any information on where the sylvari tree seeds actually come from), but they’re sentient beings with a free will until exposed to and taken over by the power of the plant dragon. However, as pointed out many times by now, this is different for Caledon Sylvari, because they’re freed from the dragon’s influence and shielded by the Pale Tree for as long as they maintain a strong connection to the Dream of Dreams, pretty much like Glint was freed from Kralkatorrik’s will by the Forgotten. How does that fit into your theory?
Slaughter of the sylvarikind was never intended, only stricter regulation, only those that willingly submitted themself to Mordremoth like the nightmarecourt shall be killed on sight.
The difference is, as you correctly pointed out: Glint was FREED of Krallkratoriks will. Find a way to ensure the Sylvari won’t just murder all of us while we sleep, and I will gladly fight side by side with them again, but for now, there is no such way, and the closer they come to Mordremoth, the more of them will fall under his controll, therefore they have to be kept as far away from Maguuma as possible, for the greater good of all!
We are already giving the sylvari special pardon for the first betrayal, because of the circumstances, if any other
species would have done what they did, they would all have been behaded by charrlaw, it is the only way to ensure the security of the commandchain, and while there might be another solution in times of peace, we are waging war on more fronts then anyone can count, the slightest weakness might lead to every living souls downfall!
Interesting, didn’t know that the cliffside kind of hints about the early days of humans in tyria. I still do wonder what it is about that giant….
Finally got done with my Charr warrior today ^^
Head: Horns of the Dragon
Shoulders: Scallywag Pauldrons
Hands: Dreadnaught Fist
Chest: Dreadnaught Hauberk
Leggins: Legion Tassets
Boots: Whispers secret greaves
I gave ESO a shot when it was in beta, but didn’t even bother picking it up afterwards, the whole game was boring to me, wanted to sell strange stuff via preordering AND tryied charging monthly back then, while not beeing a good game.
I like creating alts/twinks, but in most games the levelingprocess is a boring grind(WoW for example) and while others are a little better through improved combat, they only have 1 levelingpath for the whole faction(like wildstar) which is not much fun to me either.
So currently GW-2 is the only MMO I give a kitten about and this is most likely not going to change anytime soon, especially now that finally an expanison is going to be released ^^
As others say before: sorry about your father.
To the willpower: I don’t actually think it is about willpower, at least I hope it is not, because that would be really a pretty boring reason.
But, I think it is in some way related to the dream, not to willpower. Why do I think that? Because it seems like Cannach will join your group in the next season(you can see him standing next to Braham and the others in the trailer) and I don’t think we would take a Sylvari that could just stab us in the back while we sleep with us. So what does make him special? His dream, or rather the lack thereoff.
Of course, it can not be as simple as denying the dream, Aerin was a soundless and he has gone completely insane, but most sylvari are influenced their whole life by the dream, maybe said dream was just a “command” of the dragon, that the pale tree twisted in some way or another to make them into good people?
I am curious, though- why do you think Smodur doesn’t have a warband? Is it just because he uses a title instead of a surname, or have you seen something I haven’t?
Yeah, it kind of is about the title. You sometimes find Charr in the world that only use a titel, but all of those appear to have no warband, for example “>nameihaveforgotten< the immortal” in Orr, is a charr without a warband that earned his titel that way(well in his case it was kind of a mocking titel, because he seemed to survive everything and other charr started to belive he would run away whenever there is danger).
Of course I might be wrong about this, but I can’t think of any charr that still has a warband and doesn’t use the warbandname, some don’t have a warband anymore but still carry on with their name, but not the other way round.
I mean you can see how important the warband structure is to the charr by their memorial place where only warband names are, and since you see some charr that still have a warbandname AND a titel, it would make no sense for Smodur to be only called “the unflinching” if he still had a warband(I don’t think there is any cannon about it, but Smodur also has only one eye, maybe he was the only one in his warband that survived something? There are even rumors about him pulling it out himself, but those are only rumors I belive)
Why you should pay more attention to those: Because you SUBSCRIBED to their newsletter!? Why the hell would you not block newsletters from things you won’t get newsletters from, yet stay subscribed to those that don’t interest you, sry but thats your own fault, no one elses.
Of course it is about money, if you can get stuff for free for just logging in, more people were willing to pick up the game while S2 was going live, but that said, it’s a totally fair way of doing business. Many game companys sometimes give out a game for free for 24 hours, set it back to normal price afterwards, this is called marketing, they could have just charged us all for the episodes right from the very start but they didn’t, thats all there is to it, it was a marketing strategy to bring people back to logging in and/or making them pick up the game in the first place.
You seem to forget that the arenanet businessmodel for this MMO is actually one of the fairest currently out there, compare that to WoW, there you have to buy the boxed game, pay a monethly subsription fee that costs about as much as all of Season 2 AND they sell you cosmetic stuff, and/or levelups for your character in the game!
And even if we stay in the borders of tyria: The halloween content is only available during halloween, wintersday is only avalaibe during wintersday, and S1 was only available while it was live, compare it to that. This is almost the same, the only difference is that you can still access it after the time it was life, simple as that! If they ever brought S1 to the gemstore I would gladly pay for the ability to play that again as well.
Oh I am all for throwing Vorpp into the abyss, give me the choice to do that and I will do that without hesitation.
The difference between ALL those examples though remains: Sylvari are not a race, they are dragonminions. 3 of the dragons(zhaitan, jormag & krallkatorik) create their minions from creatures, and the 2 remaining dragons(primordus & Mordremoth) create their servants from the elements, in that they are kind of similar.
But the difference to all the other races is the same:
Regular race =/= born dragonminion.
On a different notw, Vorpp really needs to be brought to justice in one way or another, would have no problem leaving him in an unsupurvised room with Cannach.
I’m not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I thought I’d express my absolute disgust about Season 2.
I have had to take a leave of absence from the game for personal reasons. Eventually other things distracted me. I heard today about Heart of Thorns. That kicked my interest back up for the game, and I was curious about playing again. I also heard that Living World Season 2 content was actually good and much more story driven, unlike Season 1.
So… let me get this straight, ANet. I’m being penalized because I had personal issues keeping me from the game, and being made to PAY for content that everyone else got for free. If I want to see what I missed, I need to pay 200 gems PER CHAPTER.
This feels like a terrible way to encourage people to come back to the game.
I’ve never been one to rant at a company… or complain, and honestly, my GW2 experience has been great. bought a lot of character slots, have some cosmetic gear. The game experience has been fun, but stuff just happened to draw me away from the game.
This… this just feels like ANet is actively discouraging anyone that stopped playing the game for any lenght of time, from coming back. And has me honestly disinclined to be interested in the expansion.
I was away from the game for about half a year at that time, because I had tons of stuff to do for university, but I got the email that said “log in to unlock permanent” so I did that, and unlocked them. I only played through them about 2 days before the expansion got announced, but I unlocked them before, just by logging in about once every 2-3 weeks whenever I got an email, unlocked the episode and just logged out again. If thats not enough of a reminder for you, then there is no helping, I don’t know about your personal reasons, but thats an amount of effort everybody can do as long as they don’t loose permanent access to their internet, and even then you could have just asked someone you trust to log in for you, many people did that.
It is not even like arenanet is closing you out on the content now, you can still play the episodes with someone that already owns them and is willing to replay them with you, if you just want to know whats happening, just do that.
And even if you have to buy them: it is not like they cost much, 200 gems per episode is either about 2 days of farming or dropping 20€ on the game.
I am not here to white-knight arenanet, they have PR guys for that, and when there are faults within arenanet like their unwillingness to repair the Zhaitanfight, or design some charr/asura helmets gear better, I will not overlook those flaws(in fact I will be one of the first ones to stand up for charrrights, vote Gnashblade now!), but their businessmodel about those episodes is totally fair.
That reminds me a little about all those QQ posts in the forum that came out once people heared they would have to pay for the expansion, or otherwise they won’t get the specializations or access to the new areas, and I only set there and thought “you do realize it is an expansion, those things always cost money!? at least they only sell us the expansion once and the rest is free, not like WoW, where you have to pay for the expansion, followed by a monthly fee thats almost high enough to pay for all of the episodes of Season 2.”
Of course it is always nice to get stuff for free, but at the end of the day, they delivered a kittenton of content till now, and the only price you really had to pay was the one for the game itself, everything else was optional. Maybe I would think otherwise if they charged for the episodes right from the very getgo, but they didn’t.
But you could also just wait for the release of HoT, since all of S2 was a huge buildup for that, they are most likely to release some form of all in pack, where you get all the episoed + the expansion a little cheaper then if you would have bought them seperatly, maybe even an full pakage, basegame + s2 + expansion.
I don’t really think charr give a kitten about bloodlines, techically they would have to pass on the legiontitelpart of their warbandname(flame, blood, iron, and ash) but none of them have those anymore, I mean Smodur doesn’t even have a warband at all and only gets called the unflinching therefore.
But unlike humans bloodlines don’t matter to much to the charr, children get tossed into the fahrar and while there is some sort of connection to the name of your sire, I can’t see a system that treats family this loosely to be particullary concerned about the bloodlines, the only races that care about their blood that much are the humans and the jotun.
It is also not said btw, that those 4 were the only children of the khan ur, there are theories about him having more than 4 children, but at the end of the day, that part of charr history is crowded in mystery, since we don’t actually know who assassinated the last Khan-Ur back then.
I belive I had my breaking point with keys a few days ago, when I opened about 13 chests only to get 2 scraps, leaving me with 4 scraps. I still had 600 gems left, and for a second I wanted to buy more chestkeys, until I realized, if I would exchange those for gold, I would get my shadowweaponskin for certain from the traidingpost, while not even getting enough scraps out of chests even if every single one had one.
But et the end of the day I think it’s just skins, I don’t like how big the RNG on this is, but it doesn’t affect my own game and I don’t have to consume if I don’t want to.
I noticed three things here. First is 50 heavy bags is kinda low for 5-8 hours of WvW play, maybe reroll Guardian or Necro. Second, don’t spend if you want to save. Third, 5-8 hours per day is a lot of time spent in game.
I would only really worry about that last thing.
Shouldn’t have to reroll to play a game effectively.
All profs should be equally viable.
all profs are viable, just at other things. If they were all exactly equal, they wouldn’t be 8, but rather 1 profession ;P
Hmm, I don’t think it would be a good idea to give people more reason to solo a dungeon, that would go against arenanets “work together” moral.
That said, I am all up for the idea of 1-person dungeons, would be an interesting change of pace and maybe open up dungeons to those who want to get into them, but are afraid to be a burden to their team.
Right now the only thing I really wished for in the existing dungeons would be a challange mode, something like, once you complete story, you get to explore, once you did all of those you can enter challanger story, and once this one is done you can enter challanger explorable mode, with adjusted difficutly but also better loot, or maybe new titles, maybe even just more tookens.
But I don’t think we will get something like that anytime soon, 10-man raids are way more likely than 1person dungeons or challangermode dungeons at the moment. At the end of the day I am happy about whatever we get, as long as we get something dungeon-ish, I like dungeons but right now they are only a daily routine to get some gold and tookens.
Well… you can’t really say that Smodur waged the war, it was a war that went on for hundres of years, he was just born into it, as are any other Charr and human.
About enemys and allies of humans from the charrside:
Smodur and Malice(Iron & Ash) both pushed towards peace with humans, Smodur is just the one kind of officially speaking for the Charr, Malice prefers more of an indirect approch by working out of the shadows(ash legion style).
Baelfire cleary took a stance against humans and the other highlegions, but Bangars(Blood Imperator) position is way more uncertain. While iron kind of had to work a peacetreaty out(otherwise they would have had to fight humans, ogres, branded, flame legion and ascalonian ghosts) blood never had that much pressure and is also way more isolated from those threats. It is rumored that Bangar only joined Ash and Iron though, because he feared, having to fight iron, ash AND flame, now that the flamelegion is down, we might see whoms side the Ruinbringer is really on, worst case scenario would be him deciding to declare war against iron and ash, with the survivors of the flame legion joining him(they would have to accept females among their ranks then, but I belive most flame grunts would rather join ranks with woman, then just going the way of the dodo), which would put blood into a reeaaaaly strong position.
I can’t really think of any holes in the professions that couldn’t be filled with specializations, rather than new professions, at least from a “what was there in GW-1” point of view, and actually I like the idea of just getting more skills and specializations for old professions, because, the problem I always have with new professions is that they are cool and all, but I do love my main, I lived through all those things as my charr guardian, just tossing him out once a new profession came out wouldn’t feel right.
The biggest winners are the classes of which gaps are filled.
I can agree to that. I main guardian, with the biggest weakness beeing ranged combat(yes, there is the scepter, which has a fun pewpew-effect, but thats now really the peak of ranged combat, so I am pretty happy about the longbow.
But at the end of the day, people tend to forget: they said specializing will give you new weapons and you will loose access to old ones. I can see the point of “I want 5 new skills” of course I do, new and shiny stuff is always awesome, but just because a class only gets 2 new weaponskills, doesn’t mean she is worse or better off then any other class, she just only looses and offhand weapon and gains an offhand weapon, simple as that
it is indeed an outfit that has been datamined by that_shaman
you can check his youtube channel for a full video of the outfit on different races and from different angles
no information about when it will be released though
cool, thy for conformation and informing me that thatshaman had a YT, I only knew him/her from twitter and when guildgab talked about him/her ^^
I just found that picture on google, and wanted to know if anyone knows more about it, the logo I belive on the side is “that_shaman” but is this really a new outfit/armor set or some fanconcept?
where the infos about ele and guardian come from: some people managed to pick out short moments in the new WvW trailer where they saw those clases running aroud with this weapons, simple as that. I don’t know the elementalist one in particular, but for the guardian, its around the time when you see the golemboss, you see a charr in heavy armor roling sideways with a bow and then use a skill with a blue animation,(therefore guardian) so it was determined that way.
And to your point of the sword: I don’t know which hand the elementalist held it in in the trailer, but it was most likely main hand, with the possibility of it beeing an off hand weapon as well, after all there are already classes that dualwield swords, like the mesmer and the warrior.
the difference to the mesmer is that mesmer gets a shield which is wiedly known as beeing an offhand only weapon, therefore we do expect the mesmer to only get 2 new weaponskills, but there will always be the chance that arenanet suddenly announces something new.
And, what most people tend to forget, that the mesmer only get 2 new weaponskills doesn’t mean he will be off worse than the others, after all it means he will only have to give up an offhand weapon for that(most people tend ot forget that specializing also lets you loose access to certain weapons and abilitys) while the other classes are most likely to loose access to one of their 2H weapons in the process.
honestly, most of the times I don’t have much gold either, because I find something I want to work towards(most likely a skin) and I work towards that. Right now I am getting myself all the Order armorskins(only missing the ones from the durmand priory) and once that is done I will try to save up for the flame-skin on the AH, since it is the best orange in my opinion in the game.
I can certainly see why having hundreds or thousands of gold on ones account is appealing to many people, but I am the kind of person that prefers having a skrittton of skins, minis and colours, over the gold, so it comes down to, if you actually want to have the money or if you prefer having whatever you could buy with said money ^^
If it is about open zones you can fool around in: in the west there are drytop and silverwastes, and from lions arch you can use the consortium portal to get to southsun cove.
Boxfarming though is most likely going to happen in frostgorge and Orr, since SW and DT have their own system about loot and stuff.
Oh and if you are looking for really specialized high level content to do at 80 and you have some people to play with, you might want to give the fractals of the mists in lions arch a bash.
We also could go back all the way lorewise to the beginning of the high legions. The charr have always been a race that thrived in war, to the point where every member of their society craves constant battle. But it was like that even before the legions existed.
The legions came into existance through warbands, that named themselfs after their speciality, since charr can freely choose their surname and even change it during their lifetime.
There are 4 legions, but thats technicly not a given, in theory a warband that gets enough influence, followers and recognition could become a whole new legion, that would be specialized on something new(most likely war-releated, at the end of the day, charr are charr). The only problem with that is that nowadays, all charr are alligned to one of the high legions already, so if members of blood, iron or ash would attempt something like that, they would most likely be killed for treason.
The flame legion though is a traitorlegion already, and now that it is falling appart, maybe some new legions will try to spawn from warbands, trying to abandon that sinking ship, even though it is highly unlikely.
hmm interesting points, I didn’t actually take some of those into consideration, especially the one about female icebrood getting killed right away is news to me, where did you get that piece of lore from?
Hmm, well at least you earn some gold in WvW, from what I heard from the PvP guys, they earn next to nothing.
I am a collector, so I am in the process of widening my wardrobe through dungeons, it is a shame that you don’t like them, they are the easiest way to get some money I belive.
I don’t know how much one does earn in WvW nowadays, since I don’t like the 10 fps zergrush it has become(really hopeing to get into it again once HoT is out and the changes are live) and only play it with guerillia tactics, in a team of 3-5, taking out supply caracarns, camps and sentrys behind the enemy lines, so my income and experience my differ quite much from yours ^^
the one question that raises though is: will there be no sepperate beta client? I thought they would be creating one for the purpose of betatesting, but seeing the revenant in the profession selection screen makes it more likely that the HoT beta will be in client.
I still don’t know why they actually did it, can someone explain the reasoning to me? I do find the new “you can do almost everything from the airshipdock in fort trinity” thing comfortable, but I still don’t understand why they had to cut out an entire storyarc, and mixed up the quests afterwards, I mean, they make no sense at all now, you fight alongside the Largosgirl a few missions an suddenly Trahearn is like “hey, I need to introduce you to someone!” it just doesn’t make any sense to me why you would ever mash up the timeline in that way. Has there ever been any explainaition given what they trief to achive through this?
If you are someone that likes Lore: yes it is. I would recommend it, especially the combo from nightfall + eye of the north the most, since nightfall was the best of the basegames at storytelling and eye of the north was the big leadup to gw-2
But go in trying to think about it like an old RPG, not much of an MMO, and remember it is quite an old game now, so GW-2 is mechanicly superior in everything,
So I decided to re-roll a new character for the first time since all the leveling changes and tutorial stuff was added. I must say overall I like the new UI they added, while it was not needed for me I can see how it would be extremely helpful for new players. One big problem I have with how they changed the early zones though. Most of the events were either removed or severely dumbed down to the point they are no longer fun. This goes for hearts as well. A few small examples that really irks me: Assisting at the Iron legion armory/forge in Plains of Ashford- you used to be able to do a multitude of things to complete the heart such as put lost tools back in the tool bin, recycle scrap metal in the forge, and actually pick up the unexploded ordinance and toss them around. Now all you can do is….kill some flame legion and spam click the UED’s (but not pick them up)….
Another example is the hear north of that where you can assist in dealing with skritt and the cannon range. The cannons are now spam fire. No aiming, no dialing in your shots…just click it and move on. The devourer egg event seems to be not working anymore either. These are not problems specific to Plains of Ashford. Most low level zones suffer from this malady now.
tl;dr: Why, oh why, was all the fun and unique aspects removed from the hearts and why were the low level zones so “dumbed down” for a lack of better term? I used to enjoy hanging out in them but now it lost it’s appeal.
Yeah I had similiar problems, with things like golemchess simply beeing disabled, it made many hearts in the starting zones waaay less fun to play through. I hope they decide to change them back the way they were, because new players miss out on a lot of fun in those reduced quests.
My ele is actually kind of mix and match, even though she doesn’t look like it.
Head: Flame Eye
Shoulders: Flame Legion
Arms: hellfire
Body: Flame Legion
Leggins: irrelevant(can’t see them because of flame legion body armor)
Boots: Archon
Still working on the Balthasar backpiece as the last piece, then I am happy ^^
I never understood that “I want it because no one else does” logic, I get my skins because I like them for my characters. I got twilight only a few months ago, by the time I had it, I got used to seeing more twilights then regular sword skins in dungeons nowadays.
I still like having it, because I like the animations and the coloscheme, I don’t really care that many people have it.
And about skins to get: I got myself the new shadow longbow skin today, because it is very likely for the guardian(my main) to get a longbow in the expansion, therefore I wanted to be prepeared ^^
Most of the time it is easier to buy the dye you want by transforming gems to gold, rather then spending gems to get dyekits.
an example: I wanted the new shadow longbow, and had only 2 claim ticket scraps. i opened some chest by keygrinding, but got only 2 more scraps out of 12 chests. I got waaaay to tired to do any more keygrinding, even though I still had scrolls left, but even then, a 1 in 6 chance to get one more scrap would mean I would have had to use around 36 more keys(not even I had have that many lvl 20 scrolls), and I had 600 gems left. So I had to choose between:
1: buy 5 keys which isn’t even enough in scraps, even if EVERY chest had one in it, or
2: buy about 60 gold, add the rest from my ingamegold and buy the skin from the trading post, which I ultimatly did.
Thats just the way of RNG, I know I don’t have luck with stuff like that most of the time, so I don’t even try it :/ but well, I have the bow, thats something even though I somehow doubt, to ever have enough scraps for another claimticket ever again ID
the problem is, the “rightful king of ascalon” would have to be the descendand from either king adelbern or duke barradin, but adelberns son prince Rurik died to an ambush of the stone summit dwarfs, and his wife, the daughter of duke barradin, got killed in the searing. Both were only childs and both died before they had children, therefore everyone who had any form of bloodright to the ascalonian throne died.
But I guess it is better than that, you really think the charr would give up on ascalon, it is their homestead. And in case someone wants to argue “but the charr took ascalon from the humans” that only happend after the humans pushed the charr out of ascalon anyway, it was their rightfull home to begin with. Therefore the true leader of ascalon should not be a human king but a Khan-ur of the Charr, which is a title that has not to be inherited by birthright, any imperator that wields the claw and does one great dead can claim the title(but it has to be a significant deed, the last time a charr attampted to get it, the searing and entire destruction of ascalon followed).
Imperator Smodur, current leader of the iron legion is the current possessor of the claw, so he is closest to beeing the Khan of ascalon and all the charr.
That holds true in Black Citadel because it is the Iron Legion Citadel, I’m pretty sure that you’ll find Blood Legion engineer creating devastating weapons in the Blood Citadel in the Charr Homelands and Ash Legion creating nasty traps and devices in their Citadel.
hmm I imagine the blood legion citadell to be more of a giant bootcamp with some armorsmithingstations equipping the soldiers with weapons and gear, a little like isengard to be honest.
And ash… well we don’t even know where ash is so I won’t dare to speculate here ID the only other citadel beside the black we know is the citadell of flame, which was inside an active vulano so taht the shamans could draw their magic direct from it’s source,
The black citadel got created where it was mostly for 2 reasons,
1: as an reminder of the charr victory over humans(I mean, it literally stands on the top of ascalonian ruins) and because it was the iron legion that had most controll over the ebonhawk siege, so it made sense for them to have their headquarters nearby, close enough to send their new prototypes there, but not so close that the humans would pose a threat to the iron legion leaders.
Sons of Svanir are not only Norn, they are corrupted Norn, one can’t be any farther from be an army / organized alliance than that, lol
Also Sylvari are just dragonminions as you said, so Sons worshiping them would be just like Sons worshiping Destroyers, it just does not make sense.
Not all sons are corrupted, sure there are those that receive the “gift” of their spirit, but most of them willingly chose to serve the dragon.
And I don’t say that they might not as well worshipp the destroyers, after all they do so with the icebrood. The only thing stopping them in my eyes is that the sonst never stepped outside of the shiverpeak borders, and no other dragonminionrace made it there(well except for sylvari as we now know).
I read edge of destiny and ghosts of ascalon. If you are into lore stuff they will certainly be statisfying, but I do have to say that edge of destiny is the by far better written book and both of them suffer the curse of every videogame-fantasy-novel, of including way to many combat scenes that get a little repetatative after some time. Cant say anything about sea of sorrows yet, have to find a place to buy that thing first, for some reason it didn’t make it never made it to the bookstores in vienna, at least not the ones I visited at the time.
Last time i heard about that, was nearly 21%
hmm so I am only slightly below avarage? holy hell, it will take me forever to get that ticket, hope I will manage to do so, before the current weapon skin prices rise(I might want to consider saving up money on the side for the skin though, that might be faster and cheaper, even when the thing costs about 100g xD)
