Can you get only yours or can others get yours too?

Yes, everybody entering in your home instance can mine your node (a friend of mine who did not get his personal node yet mined mine two times already). In the same way, if you enter in the home instance of other players you can mine their quartz node too.

Can you mine multiple friends’ nodes or is it one home node mined per day? So if I mine my friend’s, can I still mine mine?

I’m not going to get into this big ethical debate of whether people should let others win for the sake of an achievement or not. I am however, going to say a big thanks to the group that let me get it. I’m getting better at Sprint, but don’t know (or want to know) the cheats and don’t know if I’d ever get the win. I popped in, mentioned that I hadn’t gotten the 1st place achievement yet and on race #3 they all stopped for me. Thanks guys! After that, it was back to business as usual.

I use a lvl 9 alt. His WP fees are like 8c. Upleveled to 80 and plenty of champions and veterans to kill help an alt too.

You get a broad range of rewards because everyone doesn’t play just like you. I don’t WvW or PvP either, but I’m not complaining about free swag. Bank it and move on. Enjoy all the stuff you get that you can use.

@Gabby: All of your alts are 70? Because the game starts you with 5 character slots. Make a new one. Free travel via portal to LA and take the transport to the Bazaar. Presto, you have 3c WPs.

I tried waypointing mid fall once and it glitched so that I was stuck at the WP with the falling animation. Couldn’t move, couldn’t dodge, couldn’t stunbreak…nothing. Had to relog. Wasn’t worth the effort after that. No armor damage from dying so I don’t care.

Plus, sometimes those falls are epic. Reminds me of when Aeon FLux (the original Liquid Television shorts, not the crap movie) slips off the airplane and falls to her death.

If you mouse over the name of each zone on the map it will display your progress for that zone.

Yea this is something that I never understood. Every other MMO I’ve played with an auction hall has allowed sorting of at the very least armor type (light, medium, heavy). Many allow sorting by useable as well. Why GW2’s TP doesn’t have an armor type filter is beyond me.

For achievement point rewards. If the Slayer achievement only had 1 tier there would be a lot of people with zeros down the board, having not killed the 1000 that are needed. Instead, you kill 500 ghosts you get pts to award you for the next tier of personal achievement.

A person with 800 drakes killed has considerably more experience (and blood soaked armor) than one who has killed only 80. Yet in your tier-less system, neither would be awarded anything and both would be grouped together.

Tiered systems exist everywhere. It’s a tendency for us to give things order and rank. Should nobody in a company get paid except the CEO because 100% tier/rank hasn’t been achieved? No, everyone should get compensation for their accomplishments, being divided along the way until the ultimate tier.

Don’t forget about the other side of dealing damage with an interupt build….interupts!

Not only are you dealing damage but you are effectively shutting a target down much more, which increases the survivability of everyone around.

Anet should put all kinds of fake off the wall stuff in their DAT files, just to mess with the data miners. Things like a new completely OP gear tier that will cause forum rage, only to find out it’s bull. Or pandas or quaggan genocide or a new currency or intentionally awful gear or mounts or account bound exotic gear boxes for free or…..i mean have a ball with it Anet.

I think they didn’t this time around only because we’re getting the achievement items (Zenith, Radiant, Hellfire) with this patch. While they aren’t directly tied to the BotFW event, we’re still getting snazzy gear items almost for free.

Also, it seems like Anet is trying out something a little new this time around with respect to event rewards. Less RNG (kinda) in that we aren’t getting boxes with awful drop rates for tickets. Instead we’re getting low drop rates for items that we can turn in for backpieces and helms. I see this as another trial in hopes of pleasing more players.

I think it’s a 2hr day/night cycle. Full planetary rotation in 2hrs means either 1 tiny-kitten planet or a ridiculous rotation speed. A fast speed would seriously affect gravity, which explains all the difficulty with jumping puzzles in GW2.

Only thing I’d change is a universal clock across all zones. Walking from one to the next (or even from overflow) is awkward when it’s suddenly night when it was mid-day 10 seconds earlier.

There’s the easy/hard scale and there’s the fun/boring scale.

Warriors, Guardians, and Rangers are easy to level. They’re also very boring.

Engineer was easiet for me, but that’s because it was so much fun. 10 trait pts and I’ve got perma-swiftness.

Necro was harder for me, seemed like endless kiting. Mesmer a little worse because of no swiftness and so trait-dependent.

No idea about Ele or Thief. Haven’t gotten them about 12 because their squishiness frustrated me.

I’m with the OP. The new panel has more pop, more flair. But it’s less user friendly and isn’t nearly as tidy as the old panel.

One thing I always want is for the achievement panel to open up to the last panel I was on. If I open up my panel to look at my Living Story status, then close it, play a bit, and reopen it to get an update, I’m defaulted to a sorta “home screen.” I’d rather it take me back to where I was last…the Living Story panel.

I’ve seen a number of players complaining about the WP costs at the Bazaar. It’s about 1s40c iirc each time. With all the risky jumps and ports to the bank and the Sprint, the costs can add up.

This just seemed like common sense to me, but bring an alt. My lvl 7 alt’s WP fees were 8c. Now they’re 11c because he’s leveled up a few times from the little exploration and the constant DEs that occur. Easy XP and cheap as crap WPs.

Achievements are account bound so jumping around the Bazaar with your low lvl alt will not affect your rewards in any way, especially because everyone is upscaled.

An easier method is to get a character and camp him in the Norn starting area. There’s a Place of Power right at the entrance next to Hoelbrak, so you log-in, charge, log-out.

I’ve been using the one outside Divinity’s Reach at the garrison. Quite conventient as well. They’re both probably our closest Places of Power (PoPs?).

I’m not much of a fan of JPs. However, the crystal hunt at the Cliffs was addictive. I like the new elemental skills and the thought required to get to certain crystals. Something about each crystal being its own challenge was much more appealing than a long chain of jumps that we get from typical JPs.

I make a point of playing in areas that require exploration for dungeon WPs with my alts if I plan on using them in those dungeons. I don’t think it’s unfair to have to re-explore. After all, it’s a different character.

Firstly, I didn’t spread misinformation. I posted observations and I asked questions based on information that I cited. I also said that if it turns out I’m wrong, I’ll gladly apologize and retract my ire. Also, reading the responses of numerous posters illustrated that some comments were purely based on reading the title and not my OP and the pages I linked. Also, the … looks to me more like a —- used as a placeholder for an empty slot. I know the screenshots and PvP locker show that the Zenith weapons exist but the screenshots I saw & the chart on dulfy’s site did not show them available in the 1000pt chests. My issue wasn’t that they didn’t exist, simply that they’re not available until much higher tiers of AP.

And since it seems we can choose from more than the initially thought selection, I withdraw my annoyance and look forward to my choice tonight.

If you page down below the screenshot to the chart that was added later, it lists the specific weapons to choose. Which is why I was alarmed today and not on the 8th when the inital post came out saying there were more. That was beta, this is live.

The problem with dedicating a weapon for an Engineer is that 9 times out of 10 an Engineer isn’t using said weapon. Engineers more or less use their kits all the time. Those kits replace their weapons. It’s the same reason why, as an Engineer, it would be foolish to go for a Legendary weapon.

While this is true of Engineer weapons, it’s still unfair to include at least 1 weapon for every profession except Engineer. Shield & pistol can be used by 2 other professions.

If this turns out not to be the case then I of course retract my original post and apologize for my apparent “fanboy-ness” while zapping stuff with snazzy pistols.

Pistol/Shield. Extra blast finisher to stack might with Juggernaut. A block. A stun. A blind. 2 sigils.

You’re going to be in FT most of the time due to Jugg stacking might. So take whichever offers you more utility. Imo, P/S just offers too many good things and 2 sigils.

I’m an avid PvE’er. When I venture into WvW I have no idea what’s going on. I see other players fighting and I jump in. Don’t know when/where to rally, the point of commanders, strategies, etc. I assume it’s large scale capture the flag, in essence taking or defending everything from outposts to castles. Which is great in concept, but it’s so big and spread out that I feel lost. I join a group and if I die I WP to some place completely out of the action. At least with PvP when I die I can jump back into the action. In WvW after death I have to make my way all the way back to wherever the action is, or where I’m needed for a siege. It feels like that WoW siege map from WotLK (forget name), but on a much grander scale. I suppose it takes a bit of time to really learn, but without a teacher it’s not an enjoyable learning experience.

According to dulfy’s latest update there will be no Zenith weapons available for Engineers. No pistols, no rifles, no shields. I understand this is just in the first 3000AP, but why should literally every other profession have access to a Zenith wep at only 1000AP (and another at 2000) while we are left with nothing? dulfy also has screenshots and video of apparently every weapon, including pistol, rifle, and shield from her beta. How many AP do I need for those?

Don’t sweat it Afya. It was just a common skin. Unsalvageable too.

Remember that this is the 100 achievement point chest. If this system were active at launch, we would have been ecstatic about getting all that stuff when we hit a mesely 100 AP. As it is, people with lvl 80s and 100g that have been playing for 6+ months don’t care about most of the stuff. But the low level players do. Plus, free laurel & 1g. Win.

I like the rifle over P/P and P/D. I like mobile weapons that also control my opponents movement, so rifle is a natural fit and I plan to use it when I hit 80. Are there some viable builds (PvE/WvW) that use a rifle? I don’t mind if I use a kit on top of rifle (kitten hobosacks), but I’d like to have rifle see some use.

Sub-40, I recommend trying out a Static Discharge build, especially cuz you like rifle. It’s the first major build available build offered via traits.

You’d need to create a team support build that utilizes all stats. Something designed to deal both straight & condition damage (‘nades, bombs, FT) and also dish out some heals (Heal Turret, EG, Infused Bombs). The Vit/Tough is gonna make you tankier. Your damage might not be as amazing as Zerker, but you’ll be alive 100% and everyone around will be happy for your support. Celestial + Divinity as the OP suggested would mean you can do just about anything fairly well. Versatility and variability can be a life saver.

@Phineas: figure out what the goal of your Celestial build is and you’ll know which runes to slot. I was thinking team support heavy so something like Altruism or Dwayna would work nicely. Even Mercy runes + quickness rezzing. Battlefield medic with teeth.

Celestial gear only works for a couple professions and we’re lucky enough to be one of em.

Before creating a build, I think it’s important to flesh out exactly what you want from it and what the tools you’re planning to use bring to the table. With such an even stat spread, I’d say a combination of dealing damage (FT, bombs, ’nades all deal straight & condition damage) and team support would work best. Dealing damage is the easy part. Pick one of those kits and go to town. Healing bombs can lend to team support but I think ’nades will be safer. Although you should be pretty hard to kill with Celestial stats and support traits.

I’d use EG for sure, with its ability to dish out conditions and create a large heal field. Healing Turret or even traited MedKit if your party is savvy enough to use em.

All the vit/tough, paired with some defensive traits and a shield will make you hard to kill too, especially with strong heals.

Try Runes of Altruism, Mercy, or Water for increased team support, though not specifically benefitting from Celestial gear. 6/6 Dwayna are probably the best though for straight team healing. The HP on the runes will buff what you’re getting from the Celestial gear to make some decent heals.

I agree. I love this zone. It’s got a lot of potential for future stories. And since the fleet is floating, it can be added onto very easily if necessary because there’s no adjacent zone border to worry about.

The WP fees are quite steep. I was using my main last night and probably dropped 20s easy. I’m just glad the fall deaths don’t break armor.

Tonight I’ll finish getting my 40 crystals but with a low lvl alt to minimize WP fees. Stupid that I didn’t before but I was just too into it to stop and swap. Hopefully my lvl 7 Ele will be cheap to port around.

I’m going to begin with mentioning that I’m generally not good at JPs. I have completed maybe 8 of them total, and probably 2 of those via mesmer portal. However, I’m kinda loving this new jumping aspect to the Living Story. It’s very different from typical JPs. And a lot of the jumping isn’t actually that hard. It’s like a challenge to get each crystal you spot. The 3 new skills make it fresh too, something new and experimental. And technically you could probably get a mesmer to port you every one of them if you really couldn’t do it. Also, the jumping in the mini-game Sprint isn’t hard. You don’t need to be 1st but one time, and that’s only if you’re a completionist. You don’t need every achievement for the node. Just 16.

Will these chests pop up even if i don’t log in? I can’t play until after today’s reset so when I log in will I get 2 days worth or just 1 per day I log in?

I see this a lot with FE. People just standing around in the final room waiting for others to do the event chain. It’s not hard, but it is obvious laziness, jumping in at the end for the chest only.

Rewarding achievements….why are we complaining? Why should someone who achieves less be rewarded equally? You want more? Earn it.

Where exactly does it say “personal achievement?” They’re called achievements and this is an MMO. You can’t be shocked that some will require the aid of other players. To be able to complete any dungeon you’re going to need a group. Competency level is just something you have to deal with in an MMO. Remember, those other players are trying to earn the same achievement you are…and they have to rely on your competency too.

Having said that, there are plenty of achievements that can be done solo, most in fact.

I started with Sw/Sw…then moved to Sw/F (much happier)…then on to Sw/P (even happier).

Pistol #4 hits a single target hard. The pistol has increased my survivability even while leveling with the #5 shot. I use it when overwhelmed by multiple foes, shoot it at 3 targets and escape. Sword 2 works best after an autoattack chain, having stacked some vulnerability. I iLeap, swap, autoattack, burst, escape. If set up with some clones ahead of time, that’s a good time to shatter.

Remember that the 2nd part of iLeap is a root, so if you’re having trouble landing your whole flurry, use that. Even from point blank.

As was mentioned above, sw/p is a power/prec weapon set.

I always think Frenzy is double damage. Not the first time I’ve written that. I may learn eventually.

Never thought of using U with X. That sounds like something fun to try out.

Zerker gear is designed for one thing: straight damage dealing

Now, this is great if all you have to do it sit back and spam your damage skills. But that’s not this game. This game is about movement. This game has a lot of on-crit-procs. This game has a lot of hidden conditions within damage skills.

So for my Engi (’Nades or FT/EG), having some of every stat is helpful. More tough/vit means more forgiving mistakes. More condition dmg means my bleed-on-crits deal more damage, as do my burns and other conditions that happen to apply from just about everything I do. More Healing Power makes my constant Healing Turret and MedKits and EG#5 will help my team out that much more.

Bottom line, if you want any other functionality out of your gear other than straight-non-condition-dps…don’t go Zerker. If you want some flair, some flavor, some utility, some fun in your playing, find something with flair. Otherwise, use Zerker gear and spam your dodge & shoot keys and don’t worry about your group.

I gotta agree with the OP on this one. I have about 3k achievement pts. That’s not a lot, but I play casually and have some cool armors and multiple alts. I have fun and as a result of my chosen play style I will get the rewards commensurate with 3k AP. That’s what I deserve.

Those who say it’s not fair because they didn’t know they would need to grind dailies and monthlies and salvages for AP rewards are just going to have to accept that because they achieved less, they get fewer rewards. And these constant events every 2-4 weeks will bring easy AP (really, they’re pretty easy). A few hours doing some new content can easily unlock 50-100AP from an event. Frequent content updates mean frequent new achievement point access.

AP rewards now create some motivation for players to try something new. I have almost no PvP or WvW achievements. But I might explore em a bit to get those last 100 pts I need for the next reward tier for instance.

So with such a large number of AP easily accessible just for playing the game, I’m not upset with some achievements points being demanding enough to truly be called an achievement.

I play full zerker with 2 pieces of celestial trinkets and a Knight’s shield. As an Engi who constantly changes builds, it’s a nice bit of stat spreading that is always useful to me. When playing straight grenade dps, having a little +cond is nice. When rolling FT/EG damage/support, the celestial pieces help boost my support capabilties just a little.

Was on the fence about spending more time finishing my mesmer. Guess I’ll focus on my main for a bit instead.

@Obscure: That made me laugh. You’re right though. Elixir U is an offensive weapon. People see “stun break” and think defensively, but it can be used offensively.

The problem though, is that after you stun break and start rocking out some damage, you’re either out of endurance (no biggie if you’re unleashing the pain) or taking double damage (kind of a big deal). I don’t want to break a thief’s initial stun, unleash my combo, only to take double his post-opener damage. RNG is killer in this case.
