The effect is tied to the skin.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I’ve noticed this about heavy Draconic gauntlets too. The color swatches are different for male & female versions.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I’ve found that creativity and some experimentation work best. By that I mean don’t go with full sets of armor, but mix n’ match and create your own. My “look” is very important to me and none of my toons have full sets of anything. They’re all mix n’ match and (I personally think) they look awesome.
Take a gander at https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Post-a-pic-of-your-character-only-if-your-armor-is-mix-n-match/first for ideas. And each profession page has a sticky of character screenshots. Experiment!
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I guess….I just assume it’s cheaper and just as easy to park a toon outside the home instance and use them to mine each day. It’s what I do and it doesn’t cost me 900 gems and it’s super fast.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I literally see no benefit to using this Stone over porting to your Borderlands. No wait…if there’s a queue to your Borderlands…which has happened to me once ever.
Not to mention BL has TP, banker, merchants, and crafting stations.

So many back items since release
Books of Madness (2 types)
Toy Maker’s Bag (2 types I think*) bag/sack
Molten Jetpack
Sclerite Karka Shell
Fervid Censer flower
SAB Backpack
Dragon Wing Backs (2 types) wings
Bazaar Catchers (3 types)
Fractal Capacitor (3 phases)
Desert Rose flower
Zephyr Rucksack bag/sack
SAB Back to School Set (3 types)
Wings of the Sunless wings
Spinal Blades (6 phases) wings-ish
New Back Piece S2 LS (unknown # of phases) flower
Ascended Quivers
Ascended BooksYeah I think back item releases are slightly over done..
You forgot the Slickpack and the Injector. So that’s 2 more lol.
And I think I’ve hit my limit of flowers/wings/sacks.
Gotta agree with you, we’ve got a plethora of back items. A few new armor sets attained in a similar manner would be nice. Instead of back piece phases, a single piece of a full set perhaps?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
It’s certainly cool looking. Seems to be a lot of work and time going into crafting it. And that’s just phase 1.
But I’ve yet to find a back item that really works with my guardian. For now I run the guild backpack. I understand the whole vine theme, but it’d be nice to get something more metal and stoic and clean.
And while I think back items are fun, I too would like to see new armor items. Perhaps instead of phases of a backpack, a new piece of a full armor set with each release. In 3 months time we’d have a full set that’s craftable and unique.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Instead they made changes based on countless community cries for a viable Flamethrower, signets that didn’t need a GM trait to be worth taking, and a more reliable Longbow. Not to mention making Rangers the anti-thief (Reveal) as has been suggested, improving GS cleave, fixing the Engi antidote-while-immobilized problem, and boosting Engi’s ability to cleanse (Elixir C).
These are all items that I’ve seen repeated forum posts begging for. They didn’t fix everything you want. But if this is any indication that they’re listening and working on commonly agreed on issues, then it’s a good sign.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I don’t understand. You’d actually have better stat allocation buying a full set of rare gear with the correct stat spread (like zerk) than random exotic pieces just for the sake of exotics.
Having said that, your timing sucks man. Sorry to hear it. I’m always so hesitant to do anything just before a content patch. Of course, now that they’re coming every 2 weeks again, that’s kinda tough to not do….stuff.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Imo DPS-Med Guardians are heartier than those glass cannon thieves & eles.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Offhand: Focus. Always focus. It’s just too good.
Mainhand: Sword is the best damage output, but I prefer the mace. I like its symbol, its defensive synergy with focus, and its look.
Though to be honest, I prefer the 2h weapons. Hammer + GS ftw
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
If the Engineer & Ranger Ready-Up notes are any indication, I’d say we’ll get a few of the most vocally requested changes for the weakest aspects of the class. The changes those 2 classes are getting are based on the community’s suggestions and constant requests for improvements in those specific areas. And I’m choosing to extrapolate that to the Guardian Ready-Up.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I got 1 fossil and am happy. Wouldn’t mind another but I won’t be sad if I don’t get any. I’ve seen people with 6 sitting in their bags, while others would kill for 1 without any luck. Not only are your chances of getting a fossil left to RNG, but if you do get one, then you have to pray you can get on a T4-5 map to buy the recipe (what I’m currently waiting for). In the future, when Dry Top isn’t running high pop event chains, that might be pretty infrequent.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I was on for about 3 hours Sunday night and got T5 once and T4 twice. Last night we were a consistent T3. It varies but it does still happen.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Same text my human guardian got too.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I’m so amped for the FT buffs. I’ve got my Engi collecting dust fully loaded with strength runes and a FT build that just hasn’t been cutting it. This is really gonna amp me up if I’m able to dish out massive damage with my favorite kit.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I finished this on the first try. If you actually listen to Jory & Kasmeer talk, they’ll tell you exactly where to go (leading you to the arrow cart) and how to kill the end boss (protect the minion). If you ignore the story in favor of rushing through content, don’t be shocked when you’re lost on how things work.
I also had Jory & Kas disappear mid boss fight. Thankfully, the minions still spawned. Range it and L2D (learn to dodge).
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
It varies. Generally, I do Living Story stuff (which currently means running DT events and hunting chests).
I’ll always hit my home instance for gathering, do a quick circuit for iron too.
Been doing key farming lately so I’ll usually get 1-2 runs of those in a day.
My buddy recently hit and geared an 80 so if we’re not doing LS stuff, we’re running dungeons together.
Complete daily if the above did not, but it usually does.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I’m sorry, I missed the solo portion of your question.

[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Easily, option 1.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
GW(1) used to have contests for player submitted art for weapons & armor concepts. Winners would see their designs incorporated in the game. There are a lot of really talented artists out there and these contests were a boon to the game. I think GW2 would benefit from these. Before GW2 launched, I’m pretty sure there was just such a contest and that’s where the ghostly Ascalonian weapons came from.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
If you enjoy dungeons, do ‘em, no matter your level. You’ll earn fast XP, gold, and tokens for gear. It’s a no-lose situation. Dungeons will also teach you how to learn fights and work together with a group. You’ll learn the ins-and-outs of your class better, since the fights are much harder than open world.
Once you do a story mode once, you unlock explorable for that dungeon. Also, you can do explorable right off the bat if someone else who’s unlocked it starts the dungeon.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I’d go Guardian. Your friends both rolled light armor classes, so jazz things up with a heavy armor. Plus, you can share drops if you’re super friendly. Also, guardian is a great party support class, so your friends will benefit from the defensive boons you’ll be throwing out.
Elementalists can hit really hard. Unfortunately, they’re also very squishy and one of the 2 most complex classes in the game. If you’re planning on rolling with a group of friends, you’ll have an easier time, but if you’re planning on rolling solo often, I’d pick guardian to start. More forgiving. Also, I’m not a fan of how incredibly trait dependent Eles are; and you don’t get those until level 30.
Welcome to Tyria and good luck.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Daily Leveler: If you’ve got an empty character slot, roll a new alt and rush thru some quick story content. I can bang out levels 1-5 in <30 mins.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Dear Anet,
I ve farmed the last days only to get these Leyline Skins……
Key farmed? Or is there another way I’m unaware of?
Edit: Or do you mean you farmed for gold to buy em off the TP?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I’m just bummed cuz I’ve got a Sup Bloodlust sigil in my GS and I’m losing stacks constantly. It’s a 10g sigil and replacing it with Fire seems like a waste of gold, especially because with my luck they’ll patch it the week after I swap em.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
At the least, buy the recipes now. Once you have em, you have em. Then it’s only a matter of chest farming at your convenience, regardless of tier. You can run for chests at tier 1 and still have the same chance at getting a fossil. It sucks, I hate RNG dependent drops, especially when they’re so rare. But it’s at least possible to eventually get them, regardless of Dry Top’s popularity in the future.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Agree with the “carry one of everything” sentiment.
Personally, I like mace a lot, and prefer it to sword. In dungeons, I know my role so I run sword. But in open world, I prefer mace’s larger aoe, symbol, and survivability. And while the single target damage is a bit less than sword, I feel like it’s higher against larger groups.
GS is just too good for aoe burst to not have.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Haha I’m sure OP meant Daphne
And he’s bang on too
Actually, you could say that Rox = Scooby Doo & Frostbite = Scrappy Doo
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
blah blah blah blah
Cheers and may the God of RNG bless you!
Dat last line…I think we’re all pretty sick of being left to the whims of the RNG gods.
Thankfully, it seems that this time around drop rates are significantly better than in the past. Or at least I assume so based on the TP prices of the goggles/scarves.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Consistent, reliable damage boost vs. variable, unreliable boost
The potential for DotE to give you a boost of more than 6% is likely during the course of a fight, but not something that can be relied upon. Not to mention that when an enemy suddenly loads up on boons, it’s generally a bad time to burst, as their defenses are probably up. In the case of a Guardian popping Save Yourselves, you’ll get a huge boost (7 boons!) but against a target with protection, regen, vigor, & retaliation. Not exactly the best time to unload.
My vote is for Armored Attack.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I don’t know of any F1 skill that is worthless besides greatsword’s…
Dunno if this was in response to my post or not but I want to clarify. I don’t think the warrior F1 skills are worthless. My issue is with the trait Berserker’s Power. The trait trivializes the profession mechanic by incentivizing the player to not use it, essentially making the F1 skill worthless.
The more buttons I can press the happier I am. I don’t like the trait because it discourages clever play in favor of more autoattack.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
See, that’s tough. I’d say Engi because it’s the most viable in the most scenarios (dungeons, zergs, WvW, PvP) but, due to kits, you don’t get the benefit of that Legendary like you would with another class.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Flagellation Bleed target for x seconds. At the end of x seconds, target is Weakened. Weakness is not cast if Flagellation is cleansed before its full duration.
Eye for an Eye Send 1 condition to target enemy or next incoming condition is also applied to the enemy that cast it.
Stigmata Bleed, Cripple, & Weaken target enemy.
Everlasting Wounds (trait) When Retaliation that the Guardian cast is triggered, enemy receives x stacks of bleeding; ICD z seconds
I even like Torment for Guardian:
Penance Daze the target and give Torment.
Exorcism Poison and Torment target enemy.
These are all just thematic examples of how other conditions could be incorporated into Guardian.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I’ve never been good with video game math. Given the choice, which gives better dps using a GS+sword/focus build: Zealous Blade (incl. +50 power, +5% cond duration) or Right-Hand Strength (incl. +50 precision, +50 cond dmg)?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I think this was done to sooth the whiners who crafted, say, 2 Incinerators, only to have that effort trivialized when the wardrobe system came out.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
My Guardian – just finished today & I’m loving it
shades
T2 shoulders
Heavy Plate chest
Draconic gloves
Splint legs
Heritage boots
I’ll get an in-game shot of him rocking his weapons soon.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
My Guardian – very happy with the look
Shades
T2 shoulders
Heavy Plate chest
Draconic gloves
Splint legs
Heritage boots
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
The focus looks hot, especially for my guardian.
Greatsword looks just like all the others.
Scepter looks nice too.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I’d have to agree with the OP. The point of having multiple dedicated teams, each with their own focus is to ensure that each facet of the game gets proper attention.
I assume they still have a bug fix team, but alas each new patch only brings tooltip fixes.
I assume they’ve got a dungeon/fractal team but alas, we’ve gotten 1 new fractal and 1 new dungeon path in over a year (and fractal re-treeing).
I assume they’ve got a balance/skills team but we’ve gotten a single profession-specific heal skill, 1 global heal skill (which was living story specific), and single GM trait per tree (though many would argue most were not well thought-out).
I assume they’ve still got a forum team but alas, CDIs came and went. They were left incomplete, and I don’t know if anything discussed in them was ever implemented. And we see fewer and fewer red posts on the forums than ever before.
But we all know for sure they’ve got a Living Story team, because each new patch brings nothing but.
What are the other teams doing?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Berserker’s Power is a bad trait because it completely negates the warrior F1 mechanic. While it’s obviously strong and a highly used/desired trait, its very nature is contrary to the profession mechanic. I can completely understand the OP’s desire to want to drop it in favor of actually using F1. As if warrior weren’t a faceroll boring class to begin with, even the single profession mechanic skill is worthless.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
With something like this build for max damage, mace would deal great damage, with its symbol and autoattack hitting a large area. Might not be as much as sword, but it’s got better aoe for non-single target or mobile enemies. Plus, you get the added group survivability from mace that just comes from attacking.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I seriously hope it doesn’t mean mounts. I agree with everything Meadfreek said. Not to mention that it trivializes travel within a zone. As it is, many people use WPs to move about but for those that do roam, it’s nice to run across other players who’ll join in on events. Mounted players will just run on by.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Unless the added mobility of sword is needed, I often prefer mace since I’ve always got symbol traits. With mace #2 and then auto-attacks, I’ve got vuln stacking, healing, and a larger aoe damaging field than I’d get from sword aa. Plus, it’s got better burst imo.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
So it’s unanimous. Llamas must be added as a tameable pet.
F2 as a spit or some sort of aoe “bleat”
And I like Zaxares idea of a bull pet too. Though I think we need bull and cow pets, for added variety. Cow F2 = udder squirt.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Been noticing a lot of “whit” on the forums lately. It’s “with.” You’re not ordering a Philly cheesesteak!
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
So just verify that I’ve got this down, ok? As I understand it…
The Living Story is unlocked for my whole account, despite the fact that I only completed it with one character. But the achievements, which are account wide, can only be accessed and completed on a per-character basis once that character has finished the Living Story once.
Dry Top will remain as-is, since it’s got region achievements and is necessary to access the Living Story chapters.
Geodes and the respective vendors will remain in Dry Top as well.
On 7/15, we’ll simply get the next installment of the Living World Story, which will probably open up another section of Maguuma, but not reconfigure the existing Dry Top (for reasons mentioned above).

I was in a couple T3 sandstorms last night. They’re still happening.
